Marisa Peer explains how our subconscious mind manifests psychosomatic symptoms to meet perceived needs, like headaches stopping parental fights or illness garnering attention, based on the harmful words and beliefs we repeat. Having resolved her own fertility issues by rejecting limiting diagnoses, Peer helps women conceive by unveiling childhood messages blocking pregnancy, though the mind simply acts to prevent feared outcomes we claim would “kill us.” Emphasizing that the mind's role is survival, not happiness, she argues we can reprogram our brains by monitoring self-talk to align with desired rather than default realities. Ultimately, Peer stresses that because negative self-beliefs shape self-fulfilling outcomes, we have the power to transform our lives by speaking constructive truths.LISTEN TO THE FULL EPISODE!Sign up for the Greatness newsletter!

In giving us the Torah, Hashem has given us His very Self and Essence. Torah study is the Divine kiss – fusion so deep, where our essence merges with the Divine Essence. Hashem also embraces us in love by giving us His commandments, which are His limbs so to speak. His love for us is so great, and the fusion between us so complete, this is the reason why we say that Hashem has betrothed us with His commandments, like the fusion of man and wife who merge into one being and become one flesh. How tremendous is the love that Hashem shows us! If we call our attention to His love, we cannot help but love Him rapturously in return.
Investment in carbon capture and storage is skyrocketing. Last year, the technology attracted some $6.4 billion globally, more than double the year before. But why are industries now looking to Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) to cut down on their carbon emissions, rather than other, better-established methods? On today's show, Dana sits down with Allen Tom Abraham and Anastasia Tomasidou from BNEF's Sustainable Materials team. Together, they take a look at the various sectors that are utilizing CCS technology, methods of carbon capture and storage and potential bottlenecks in the existing system, and the role that policy plays in the expansion of CCS across the globe. Today's episode draws from the BNEF research note CCUS Market Outlook 2023. Welcome back to Powerhouse Lawyers with Erin Gerner! PHL Retreat [00:00] Join us for an in-person community building experience. Reserve your spot now: https://www.eringerner.com/Powerhouse-Lawyers-Retreat Guest Introduction: Amy Impellizzeri [02:16] Amy is our guest for this episode of Powerhouse Lawyers. She's a decorated and well awarded speaker, author, and lawyer. Amy has a background in corporate litigation. This episode takes on a journey of Amy's unique career to using her law degree in some of the more unorthodox ways. The Law Attracts Very Creative People [08:30] Despite popular belief the law attracts very creative people. Starting a law firm, choosing the kind of clientele you want to serve, and finding loopholes to support your client in any case are all acts of creativity. Being both mom and attorney [10:00] When Amy started growing her family, she was quickly taken off the partner track. Keeping her children from the front row of the office conversation was top priority for the firm in upholding expectations for what it meant to be a lawyer within their team. Amy recounts feeling gratitude for the partners allowing her to keep being a lawyer, while being a mom. The price of that was high. She was made to feel like her life outside of the office should be second tier on her priorities. As if she couldn't do both! Tips to a young lawyer [17:09] When it comes to being a young lawyer, Amy advises that we remember two big pieces of advice she was given: You are indispensable. The firm and your team need you despite what they say or try to make you believe. You don't always have to leave the law entirely. You may be in the wrong area or section of the law. Push yourself to experience what practicing law looks like outside of the four walls of your firm. Decide what you want the world of law to look like for those that come after you and work towards that. The obituary exercise [22:23] What do you want people to say about you in your obituary? Can you imagine people standing around at your funeral reminiscing on their experiences with you? What are they saying? You don't have to wait for tragedy to strike for you to think about your legacy. Women going to law school [27:57] Women that are looking to start the track to practicing law, consider a couple of things before you make the leap: Why do you want to go to law school? Really, why? If it's to make someone else happy, to make a lot of money, or because you think it will earn you respect–head back to the drawing board. Those reasons aren't quite good enough. You can be a lawyer, but that's not the only thing that can accompany a law degree. Research the kind of law you want to practice and who is doing it in a way you admire. You might be surprised by what you find. What's next for Amy? [30:55] Amy shares that she is currently writing a legal drama that has film and series interest! Be on the lookout for her on the shelves (and potentially on screen). Guest Questions [37:39] Amy answers 2 questions: If there is one thing she could go back and tell her younger lawyer self, what would it be? What is your unique superpower? Most of us have a voice inside our heads that can be caring, supportive, negative, or critical. Some may have a voice that draws you into a cycle of guilt and humiliation by never tiring of pointing out our mistakes and inadequacies. But how will you battle the inner voice in you that makes you think twice about your capabilities and worth? As a business owner, what do you feel has helped you the most to improve your weak spot? Dr. Soneka Lee has been in the healthcare industry for 14 years as a doctor of physical therapy. She always knew that what we eat helps us to move and feel better. It wasn't until she got diagnosed with an Ankylosis Spondylitis disorder that she discovered eating health and movement became her life saver. She is an autoimmune health coach and a Tai Chi instructor. She found that helped her get back to being the best mom and Physical Therapist she can be. This week's Healthcare Hacks and Connections, Nathan Navas and Dr. Soneka Lee will talk about autoimmune health coaching, Tai chi therapy, and other methods of therapy that can be used to extend your reach beyond physical therapy; how to market different kinds of therapy than the usual that most people know; and how to overcome failure in the business industry in an avenue that not many people know. They will touch on such topics as:Autoimmune coaches help clients with their chronic pain and general autoimmune disease to navigate the healthcare system and collaborate with their doctors to be able to overcome obstacles. One of the things that can trigger your autoimmune disease is your environment and the foods that you eat.Your gut is your second brain. You should live and learn. Figure out what you need the most rather than not even trying at all and quitting before you even started. Sometimes you feel like you're already defeated and have a mental battle with yourself. How responding to people about their concerns, such as health, in a unique way, like creating a post on your social media, can make them feel special and appreciated. When things get hard, try different options and see if they work. Some of the best quotes I've heard about God's will come from Chuck Swindoll: “When the Lord makes it clear you're to follow Him in this new direction, focus fully on Him and refuse to be distracted by comparisons with others.” “God doesn't work on our timetable. He has a plan that He will execute perfectly and for the highest, greatest good of all, and for His ultimate glory.” “Your call will become clear as as your mind is transformed by the reading of Scripture and the internal work of God's Spirit. The Lord never hides His will from us. In time, as you obey the call first to follow, your destiny will unfold before you. The difficulty will lie in keeping other concerns from diverting your attention.” Knowing God's will is something every believer hungers for, especially at critical crossroads of life. You might be in that place right now. Whether it's one of the biggies like career, spouse, location or just the little things of life, we want God to reveal the answer to us. In this episode, I pull the curtain back and share a story from my life. Our guest, Wayne Pederson, shares his experience of discovering God's will at critical crossroads in his life. Wayne recently shared with a group of us about how God led him each time. I was fascinated, so I asked him to come on the podcast. Wayne Pederson and I have served in missions media ministry together for many years. We're both part of the leadership of the Alliance for the Unreached. Wayne has led two major Christian radio networks—Northwestern and Moody. He was also the CEO of Reach Beyond, and serves on many ministry boards, including one he'll tell us about in our fascinating interview. Wayne is so approachable and friendly, as you'll hear in the interview. Before we got into the topic of God's will, I asked Wayne to tell us about a fascinating experience he just had. A friend gave everyone at her husband's memorial service this book. He really loved it. And I found I loved it, too. Excellent Scripture-centered daily devotional. But it's different than most. Short segments Scripture passage One simple suggestion at the end ------------------------------------- Can you help me out? This is Podcast Review month and I need your review. I want to know what you like or don't like about FRESH FAITH IN REAL LIFE. So, before this month is out, maybe even now, leave a review of this podcast on your podcast app. By the way, I just made that up about Podcast Review Month. But not about reviewing my podcast. Please do. ------------------------------------- Knowing Christ is the secret to life. Life with a capital L. I firmly believe that. Whatever you're dealing with, Stress Fatigue Worry Loneliness Hopelessness Discouragement Lack of Purpose Failure Digital addiction Burn-out ... lean into Jesus and get to know him more deeply. He's there for you. My mission in life is to help a million believers know the Christ of the cross. That's why I spend time each week writing my FRESH BREAD for FRESH FAITH devotionals. I send them out three times a week, pointing readers to Jesus as they start the day. You'll get them in your inbox early in the morning. Take 60 seconds and read through it as a springboard to start your day centered on Christ. It's not a replacement for your quiet time. But it is a way to center on Christ and deal with those things that are robbing you of Life. Sign up for FRESH BREAD for FRESH FAITH. --------------------------------------- FEATURED SEGMENT: One of the richest spiritual experiences I enjoy is taking a day away with God. I've heard others say the same thing. There's something special that happens when I have unrushed, often unstructured, time with God. I push away my regular activities and responsibilities to be with Jesus. It's that simple. Yet, profound at the same time. While I experience tremendous benefits from my day away with God, it's not really about me. The day with Him is a time of fellowship and communion at a level that can't happen any other way. My day away with God is really about Him. And I receive so many benefits. Our guest today is a brother in Christ who got me started in this habit. It has absolutely changed my life. This is the first guest who has joined me from Starbuck's, but these days you can do a podcast from anywhere. OUR GUEST: When our guest and I met, we discovered that he had pastored a church in the town I grew up in, many years after I had left. Steve Harling is a former pastor who has a passion for missions. He has served on international missions boards, such as with SIM. And he served as President of Reach Beyond. Steve grew up as an MK, or missionary kid. Throughout his career as a pastor, he always led his church in making the Great Commission a priority, especially taking Christ to unreached people groups. But, despite all the doing, he has learned how to cultivate his relationship with Christ. He's going to help us to that, too. I think you'll be fascinated.
