She shares her experiences of finding God to be her rock in a turbulent world, how preserving relationships during change is key, and why we need the support of a Christian community during seasons of change. The beautiful thing about toddlers and little ones is they package grief in a way that we all want to - really quickly. A toddler's ability to understand loss will increase as they grow, but in the beginning, they are unable to truly grieve. Toddlers will grieve, but they don't grieve in the same way that older children and that adults grieve. Moms will grieve that loss for them, and eventually with them. In a lot of ways, a toddler's slow processing of grief is a gift allowing the mom to focus on her own grief. In this open conversation Lori and her daughter candidly talk about the following: How to care for a grieving toddler Insights from a fatherless toddler with an adult perspective Important conversations to have with your child over the course of their life Questions toddlers ask after losing a loved one Additional Resources: How to Show Empathy to Hurting Children with Lisa Peck How to Build a Support System With Hope by Steven Curtis Chapman Finding Male Role Models for your Fatherless Girls Who Will Walk Me Down the Aisle Mom, you are not alone! What do you do when God seems to have vanished? Maybe you feel alone in your decision making, your parenting, in your life? This is the question on the back of the book that we are going to highlight today. It is called *Esther: Seeing Our Invisible God in an Uncertain World. I don't know if you know this, but Esther is one of the two books of the Bible where God's name is not mentioned once. We are going to dive deeper into this today in our study. But I think it is amazing, because God's fingerprints are all over the book of Esther, but His name is not mentioned. Maybe that is where you feel like you are in your life.  You are like where are you God, I don't see you or feel you. Are you even working? So I love that we can study the life of Esther, and we can see that God still is present. He is still working! I am so excited to have Lynn Cowell and Amy Carroll on the podcast to talk about their Bible Study. In this episode, host David Abrams is in conversation with Amy Carroll, President of Trademark Properties. Amy's family built custom homes, so it was natural for her to begin her career journey in an entry-level position at a multifamily real estate business. After 8 years of learning all she could, Amy leveraged that experience and transitioned to commercial real estate and property management, which led her to Trademark Properties and ascending to the position of President on her 1-year anniversary. Amy is a lifelong learner and feels strongly that this characteristic is essential to success. As a supporter of the new hybrid workplace, Amy has personally adopted this approach within her company. We discussed the need for buildings to be more competitive, especially when stacked up against newer construction. In Amy's words: “Commercial Real Estate is a dinosaur.” Technology has been focused on the operations side of the business, but it's not enough. With HR managers now involved in every real estate decision, now is the time to tap into what is most important – delivering what tenants really want. The operation of the building needs to be better connected to experience. I loved hearing about Amy's early response to the pandemic, and how she and her team positioned the company for success during a time of tremendous upheaval. Because He's been directing my life since I was ten, I trust Him to faithfully show me my next step. The goofiest things make me laugh. British comedy, my sons' corny jokes, and my husband's play on words all crack me up.I'm scared of bouncing a check, closed-in places, and pictures that show my double chin.Almost anything makes me cry. I cry when I'm happy, sad, moved (even by Hallmark commercials), or in awe of something God has done. I don't think on my feet well at all.  I get a joke a day late, and it takes me two weeks to think of the perfect comeback."Amy's committed to opening up her whole life– the good, bad and ugly—to teach what she's learned in pursuit of applying God's Word.  She loves teaching Scripture in all its unvarnished glory, while sharing God's big truths in small, understandable bites.Amy has a new book coming out: Esther: Seeing Our Invisible God in an Uncertain World. But more the type who carries a "Never Good Enough List” with all the reasons you'll never be able to earn His love. Either way, Amy Carroll, (author, speaker, Proverbs 31 contributor) is on the podcast this week helping us break up with perfect. Lies like: "I was created to produce perfection" or "People are obstacles to my tasks" or "If I have the right stuff, my life will be perfect." Amy and I chat about learning to listen, leveraging your feelings, and sharing your story in your day to day life by making your words consistent no matter who you are around. Questions Amy and I Discussed: (5:40) Share a little of your faith journey with us.  How did you come to know Jesus? (8:34) Your work focuses on coming alongside women who long for both a tender heart, steeped in God’s Word, and a strong voice that speaks up for Him in their world. How do you go about equipping them for this call? (20:05) You also encourage women to leverage their feelings when it comes to sharing their story.  What does that mean and how would someone go about doing that? (28:20) Most Christians have a desire to share their story with others, but are often paralyzed by fear. How do you encourage women to share their life with Jesus with others? (37:27) If you had the opportunity to sit down with your great grandchildren, what some wisdom you would like to share with them. Quotes to Remember: “My new tagline is tender heart, strong voices, because I really believe that God is calling all of us….to use our story, our voices for Him in the spaces that we live, wherever we have influence, in our household with our children, in our neighborhoods and communities, in our workplaces and story is such a powerful way to share God’s truth.”   “God has been teaching me to really, really listen, because if we want to use our stories, to connect with other people, we have to know their stories first.”   “One of the big things that I’ve learned about listening is listening is not agreeing. This used to be…my big problem. I felt like if I listened to someone, and they were saying things that I didn’t agree with, and if I didn’t speak it would be as if I agreed. And I have learned that is not true. Listening is not equal to agreeing, listening is equal to love.”   “I think as Christians we are called to be aware of what is going on in our world, and where to engage with the pain of people who are suffering around us and to know the stories of people who don’t have a voice so we can help share those.”   “The power of story is it connects people. And I think our faith stories is just simply sharing whatever God is doing in our lives.”   “If you would tell a story about what God had just done in your life to your Christian girlfriend, why don’t we tell these stories to our next door neighbors.” Resources Mentioned: Proverbs 31 Ministry Grit -n- Grace Podcast Emotionally Healthy Spirituality  Out of The Salt Shaker And Into The World amycarroll.org Exhale by Amy Carroll and Cheri Gregory Breaking Up With Perfect by Amy Carroll www.graceenoughpodcast.com   Visit www.amycarroll.com to connect with Amy ----------------------------------------------- Follow Grace Enough Podcast on IG and FB
