--- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/corgiov/message

The USS Liberty incident was an attack on a United States Navy technical research ship, USS Liberty, by Israeli Air Force jet fighter aircraft and Israeli Navy motor torpedo boats, on June 8 1967, during the Six-Day War.[2] The combined air and sea attack killed 34 crew members (naval officers, seamen, two marines, and one civilian NSA employee), wounded 171 crew members, and severely damaged the ship. At the time, the ship was in international waters north of the Sinai Peninsula, about 25.5 nmi northwest from the Egyptian city of Arish.

Speculate means: to form an opinion or theory about a subject without firm evidence; take risk or chance; trade or buy and sell with a hope of earning profits. In this English vocabulary lesson, you will learn how to use the word speculate. We are sure that this ESL lesson will help you to enhance your English vocabulary and speak English fluently and confidently. The word speculate means to form an opinion about a subject without proper evidence. It also means to take the risk. For example, when a prominent leader was hospitalized, there were speculations about his death. Arish’s friend asked him to invest in some shares, but he was averse to risk and refused to speculate. Listen carefully on how we can use the word to speculate in 8 different situations in 8 different sentences. Example number 1 of 8: When a soldier is missing while on duty, his unit carries out a thorough search operation. Until a confirmed report is obtained about the missing soldier, there is never any speculation made by the army office. Example number 2 of 8: These days, there are many schemes offering personal loans. Do you know that as per the RBI guidelines, the personal loan amount cannot be utilized to speculate in any form? Example number 3 of 8: The present managing director of the firm was due to retire in a month. The staff was speculating that an external professional would take his position. However, the firm announced that the present vice president would be promoted to that post. Example number 4 of 8: The Bermuda Triangle in the Atlantic Ocean has always been a matter of speculation for the people. It is reported that a number of ships and aircraft have disappeared in that region. But, there are also many who dismiss such reports. Example number 5 of 8: The last season of the reality show had an exciting finish. For weeks, people had speculated about the winner. But, to everyone’s surprise, the least expected participant has announced the winner. Example number 6 of 8: There was speculation that the two government-owned banks would be merged into one. This affected the share prices of both banks. But, later, it became clear that this decision was adjourned. Example number 7 of 8: People across the world, like to speculate whether there are aliens (means other living beings) in the universe outside the earth. In order to find the truth, researchers have been working for years and billions of dollars have been spent so far. Example number 8 of 8: A leading baby food company came to know about speculation in the market that the quality of their product was deteriorating. The company immediately made a strategy and issued innovative advertisements to clear the ambiguity. Three judges have been shot dead in the Sinai just hours Egypt's first democratically elected President, Mohammad Morzi was sentenced to death by a court in Cairo. According to the UK's Independent, police say the judges were attacked while travelling in a car together in the city of al-Arish, Sinai. A fourth person and at least three others were reportedly injured in the assault as well. Morzi's punishment is for his role in a prison breakout during the Arab Spring uprising that toppled his predecessor Hosni Mubarak.
