In Episode 84 of the Make Dance Fun Podcast, we're back with another edition of our “5 Fun Things” series—this time, highlighting some of our favorite resources that we use at our studio on the regular! Here are 5 fun resources that make our studio lives easier, more creative, and more fun! Check out our blog post for links!1. Canva Print Services Yes, everyone uses Canva but have you explored their print services? We've used them for mugs, banners, flyers, and more. The quality is fantastic, the turnaround is quick, and it's so easy to design and order in one spot. Go to “Print Products” in Canva and browse. So much you can create and order!2. Sticker Mule We use Sticker Mule for nearly every event at Rhythm: stickers, magnets, car decals, you name it. While we usually upload our own designs, they've really improved their internal design tools too, so you can play around with their templates if needed. They're reliable, fast, and the product always turns out great.3. QR Code Monkey We're making QR codes constantly, and this is our favorite site. It's free, super easy, and gives you tons of fun options to customize the look—colors, logos, styles, and more. It's a simple way to align your QR codes with your branding or campaign and help you stay organized by dropping your logo into the center.4. Studio Shuffle We discovered this amazing resource at Studio Owner University and were instantly sold. It has completely changed the way we build our class schedules. It offers drag-and-drop, visual layout, conflict alerts, color coding and more! We use it for full-year schedules, summer camps, and rehearsal planning. Bonus: it actually makes the whole process kind of fun?!5. Custom Patch Experience We've mentioned this before, but it's worth repeating. We created our own designs in Canva and uploaded them to Ninja Patches. The quality is awesome, the turnaround is quick, and the options are versatile (iron-on, glue, or attach to merch). We've used patches for dress rehearsals, shows, open houses, team wear, even teacher gifts. We purchased our patch press machine from amazon and it even came in a fun pink color! Pro tip: use it on a sturdy table! These are just a few of the ways we're staying inspired and prepared for the season ahead. If you're using a resource you love, let us know—we're always on the hunt for fun and functional new finds!Let's Get Social! If you've ever felt completely overwhelmed by motherhood—juggling appointments, trying to homeschool, and holding everything together without help—this episode is for you. In this Summer Throwback, I'm sharing the simple, grace-filled system I created during a season of solo parenting and total exhaustion. When my husband was deployed and I was managing therapies, special diets, and daily life with little ones, I didn't need a fancy planner—I needed a lifeline. So I made a three-ring notebook with basic daily checklists, snack ideas, therapy notes, and even encouraging Scripture. It wasn't perfect, but it became my sanity-saver.You'll also hear how this tool brought calm to our home and made space for connection, rest, and joy—things I never thought possible in that season. Whether you're drowning in to-dos, managing special needs, or just craving a little more peace, this episode offers practical encouragement to help you simplify and breathe again.
Welcome to Episode 83 of the Make Dance Fun Podcast! It's the middle of summer, and while we're all squeezing in a little time off between camps and competitions, it's also a great window to knock out a few things around the studio—and actually make them fun! We're continuing our Five Fun Things series with this week's topic: 5 Fun Things to Freshen Up Your Studio before the new season begins. These updates don't have to be major or expensive, even small changes can bring fresh energy and boost excitement for both your staff and your dancers. Here are the 5 Fun Things we talk about in this episode:1. Refresh Your Branding Summer is the perfect time to update your branding. Think logos, retractable banners, step and repeats, A-frame signs, neon signs, and business cards. Whether it's a full refresh or just a few new pieces, make sure your look is current and consistent across your studio, website, and social media. It's a great way to reintroduce your brand with a fresh perspective.2. Upgrade a Space (and Make It Fun) Pick one area to give a little glow-up—your lobby, front desk, staff room, or even a customer space. A new coat of paint, some wallpaper, fresh desk accessories, or a fun vase with flowers can completely change the vibe. It doesn't have to be expensive—just intentional and inviting.3. Create a Kickoff Theme Planning a theme for your season kickoff can set the tone in the best way. Carry it through your open house, team kickoff, first week of classes, and even into your decor and playlists. Some theme ideas we love:Go for Goals (Olympic theme)Team RhythmRetro Rhythm Beach BashElectric Garden PartyPlanet Rhythm Launch PartyRhythm Berry BananzaThemes make everything easier to brand—from dress-up days to welcome gifts and social content.4. Build a Selfie or TikTok Wall Encourage engagement by creating a fun, on-brand photo or video wall. It could be a painted mural, a paper roll backdrop, felt cutouts, or anything creative. Add a sign or sticker incentive to get dancers posting and tagging your studio.5. Drop Some Fresh Merch Nothing says "new season" like new swag. Update your logo wear with things dancers and parents actually want...t-shirts, patch hats or bags, water bottles, ribbon elastics, scrunchies, pencils, car magnets, even jibbitz. These items help build excitement and create walking advertisements for your brand.BONUS TIP Now's a great time to restock any resources you use throughout the season—like WOW Cards, 567cre8 Cards, Twirl, and Twist materials. A little prep now saves a lot of time later. So… what are we working on right now? We're updating our website and refreshing our logo, and while we're still nailing down the exact theme for our open house, we're definitely in full-on planning mode—especially with our new studio on the horizon. Some of these projects will roll out this season, and others will debut with the big move, but it's exciting to be laying the groundwork now.Even one small update can booLet's Get Social! Welcome to episode 82 of the Make Dance Fun Podcast! Today, we're kicking off a brand-new series called Five Fun Things—a collection of episodes where we'll share creative ways to bring more FUN into different parts of your dance season. Because, after all, our mission is to help you Make Dance Fun!In this episode, we're focusing on five fun things you can do during company intensives, summer camps, choreography weeks, or anytime your company dancers are spending extra time together. These ideas are geared specifically toward team bonding, motivation, and building studio culture—and they've all been tested and loved at our own studio. Here are the 5 Fun Things we're diving into:1. Outside-the-Studio Adventures From pool parties and popsicles to mini golf and roller skating, getting dancers out of the studio helps them connect in a totally different way. These casual hangouts create space for conversations and camaraderie. Add in a fun challenge like a scavenger hunt or team craft to encourage interaction with someone new.2. Motivational Prizes A little surprise can go a long way. Stock up on fun finds from the Target dollar aisle or similar spots, and hand them out as rewards for hard work, leadership, or positive attitudes. We've done custom prizes like the Happy Rhythm Hippo or Sharp Rhythm Shark, often paired with a snack and a fun graphic. These are great for staff to hand out—or even let dancers nominate each other!3. Headshots & Posters We love taking individual headshots of our company dancers and creating colorful, branded posters for display at events. It adds a level of professionalism and pride. Group shots are great too if time allows. We include this in our company fees and use the photos throughout the season.4. Get-to-Know-You Games A great icebreaker activity to build connections. You can DIY fun superlatives or prompts like “Most likely to win a tap battle” or “Always has snacks.” These spark laughter and help dancers get off their phones and into real conversations. We're actually working on releasing this activity as a digital download soon!5. Team Goal Setting & Vision Boards Whether you're guiding individual dancers or small groups, vision boards are a meaningful way to set goals together. Give them a worksheet, or let them cut and paste from magazines, printouts, or Pinterest. We've done this at the studio and even off-site at art studios. The goal is for them to collaborate on something visual that can hang in the studio and remind them of their shared purpose. Group photos add a nice personal touch. Our Favorite Team Bonding Memory? A Barbie-themed night at Avalon—complete with dinner, a scavenger hunt, games, crafts, friendship bracelets, and a photo shoot. It was pink, fun, and unforgettable! We hope today's episode inspires you to incorporate a few of these ideas into your own intensives, rehearsals, or company gatherings. Not only do they build stronger teams—they also make for great content. Capture the moments and share them through a reel, TikTok, vlog, or photo carousel. These are the things that highlight your studio's personality and set you apart. Thanks so much for listening. This quick story might change the way you think about decluttering forever. In today's Pouring Out the Heart of It, I share what happened when I let someone else take over a mess—right in the middle of my chaos—and how that “shortcut” turned out to be a blessing for my home, my child, and my peace of mind.If you've ever felt guilty for not doing everything yourself, this episode is your permission slip to let go and let someone else step in. Especially as we wrap up June's decluttering theme, this might be the gentle reset you didn't know you needed.Scripture: Proverbs 13:20 (ESV) – “Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise.”With love,Katie
Looking for things to do in Paris that are off-the-beaten-path from the typical tourist destinations? Here are a few tips for making Paris even more special!
Have you ever walked into your kitchen and felt like it was yelling at you? Overflowing snack bins, forgotten leftovers, and no plan for dinner? I've been there too, and in today's episode, I'm bringing you right into my pantry and basement decluttering journey. We're talking about how simplifying your kitchen and food rhythms can calm the chaos and bring true peace to your days. I'll share my three most powerful resets: clearing your pantry with purpose, creating a flexible meal rhythm, and doing one 30-minute prep session each week. We'll also look at what science says about clutter and stress—and what Scripture reminds us about God's design for peace in our homes. This isn't about perfection—it's about stepping into your calling as a homemaker who nourishes her family, body and soul.Let's walk through this together, one shelf, one bite, and one prayer at a time.
As I've been sorting and decluttering—bags to donate, projects to release, spaces to breathe again—God's been whispering something deeper:Letting go is not just about organizing. It's about obeying.Maybe you're in a season like mine—overwhelmed, surrounded by clutter, and longing for peace.Today, I want to remind you (and myself) that sometimes, the spiritual invitation is hidden right in the middle of a messy room. This isn't about perfection. It's about pausing long enough to hear what the Lord might be asking you to release—and trusting that peace and presence follow. With love,Katie
Have you ever tried to sit down with your Bible or spend a quiet moment with God—only to feel the chaos of your cluttered home crowd out the peace you long for?In today's episode, I'm sharing a small but powerful story from our home that reminded me how physical clutter can block spiritual clarity. We'll look at the research, the scriptures, and the gentle truth that letting go of excess makes space for Jesus, peace, and even physical healing. If you've felt overwhelmed by stuff, distracted in your devotions, or weighed down by your home instead of uplifted by it—this one's for you.Let's explore:How clutter triggers stress in your body and nervous systemWhy a clearer space can help you hear from GodThe biblical mindset shift that helps you release what's no longer neededYou don't need to overhaul your whole house—just start with one space. And as you do, I'll walk right alongside you. ❤️With love and grace,Katie

Chuck and Joni Hofmann are two incredible people that live by the hobbyist credo of doing one fun thing a day and maintaining a positive mental attitude. They are true hobbyists at heart with a menu of things that they enjoy. In this video we hike along the Jack Rabbit Trail near Hayesville North Carolina, talk about what they do for a living, their marriage, their many hobbies and what we discover at the end of they day is that friendship is the ultimate break from the grind.Linkshttps://www.breakfromthegrind.com/
Have you ever sat on the floor, surrounded by keepsakes, and felt like letting go meant giving up on the dreams you once had for your family? This bonus episode, Pouring Out the Heart of It, is a gentle five-minute reflection on what it's really like when decluttering touches the dreams we once held. I'm sharing my honest journey—how moving 19 times with a big family shaped my view of stuff, and how I've learned to let go with peace, stewardship, and trust in God's provision. If you've ever struggled to release items tied to “someday” hopes, this episode is for you. I want this episode to help you tackle real clutter—physical and emotional—so you can let go of items without guilt. My prayer is that it gives you comfort, practical encouragement, and permission to let go.
Have you ever said, “I might need it someday…” or “I just need to organize better…” or felt like you had to declutter your entire home in one overwhelming push? You're not the only one—and those beliefs are lies that keep us stuck. In Episode 304, we're walking through the three most common lies moms believe about clutter, how they quietly sabotage your peace, and the powerful, grace-filled truths that can finally help you move forward. This is real talk for Christian homeschool moms who are tired of being buried in stuff and pressure—and want to start fresh with peace, perspective, and stewardship. You'll walk away with encouragement and practical tools to start letting go—bit by bit, with purpose.
Do you talk mean to yourself too? As if the self-talk wasnt bad enough, some of the most hurtful things we believe about ourselves didn't even come from us. They came from offhand comments, schoolyard shade, or that one person's opinion that we never fully let go of. In this episode, Jayna opens up about some of the things she's told herself as well as things people have said to her. Who would have thought criticism from as far back as elementary school—yes, elementary—could still haunt her mind today and shape how she sees herself, even now. We're diving into the wild ways we self-sabotage: the names we call ourselves, the dreams we talk ourselves out of, and the critiques we treat like truth. But guess what? Just because someone said it doesn't make it real. And just because we've believed it doesn't mean we have to keep believing it. This episode is your invitation to unpack those old stories, rewrite the narrative, and speak to yourself with the kind of love and power you deserve. Afterall, you're not who they say you are, you're who you decide to become. If you're finally ready to serve an eviction notice to your inner critic, then hurry up and press play! iIt's time to take your power all the way back. Let's rewrite the narrative and show the world exactly who we are—unbothered and unstoppable. Listen in as Jayna talks about "spells" others put on us that slow our growth and prevent us from living up to our full potential. She shares lies she was told about herself that she believed and details how they all still affect her to this day. Ever find yourself cleaning the same corner over and over—only to feel more behind, not better? You're not imagining it. Clutter isn't just stuff—it's a silent stressor. And if you've been feeling foggy, short-tempered, emotionally drained, or overwhelmed no matter how much sleep you get, this episode is for you.In today's kickoff to the Make Room to Breathe series, I'll walk you through how clutter quietly impacts your brain, emotions, and peace—and how I'm gently decluttering one corner at a time, right alongside you. No, that daily coffee isn't ruining your financial life…..by itself. We love to pigeonhole certain expenses in our life as the ones that are hurting us. Truth is, most probably aren't. It's okay to spend money on fun things like coffess, drinks, clothes, and dining out. There's nothing inherently wrong with buying fun things. However, we can't have ALL the fun things. In today's episode, host Travis Shelton discusses the importance of prioritizing our fun spending on things that actually add value to our lives. When we do, these things become blessings instead of burdens. We can have fun things, but not ALL the fun things.
