    Ivy Insights

The This Is Your Afterlife podcast is a truly unique and captivating exploration of the concepts of death, the afterlife, and the human experience. Hosted by Dave Maher, who himself has a comedic background, the format of the show brings together conversations with various artists to delve into these often taboo topics with insight, wit, and empathy. The result is a podcast that not only entertains but also offers a fresh perspective on how we define ourselves and think about the world.

One of the best aspects of this podcast is its ability to distill complex and existential ideas into something endearing and hopeful. Despite discussing heavy subjects like mortality and what comes after death, Dave and his guests approach them with humor and joy. They recognize that ultimately, we are all just trying our best to live a good life, regardless of what may or may not await us in the afterlife. This refreshing take on such weighty subjects creates an atmosphere that is both enlightening and uplifting.

Another great aspect of The This Is Your Afterlife podcast is its roster of fun guests who bring their own unique perspectives to the conversations. Coming from creative backgrounds, these guests provide rich, imaginative, and thought-provoking answers to Dave's scenario-based questions. The interviews are engaging and insightful as Dave gently pushes his guests to reflect further on their instinctive responses. This dynamic allows for deep conversations that touch both hearts and minds.

While it's difficult to find any major faults with this podcast, perhaps one aspect that could be considered less appealing is its focus on death and mortality. For some people, these topics may be uncomfortable or triggering. However, it should also be noted that The This Is Your Afterlife podcast approaches these subjects in a light-hearted manner, aiming to spark conversations rather than dwell solely on morbid thoughts.

In conclusion, The This Is Your Afterlife podcast is truly special. It seamlessly blends humor with deep introspection to create a podcast that is equal parts funny, inspiring, and beautiful. Dave Maher's interviewing skills combined with the rich insights of his guests make for a captivating listening experience. This podcast will leave you thinking about life and death long after each episode ends. With its unique take on existential topics and its ability to both entertain and enlighten, The This Is Your Afterlife podcast is definitely worth a listen.

READ THIS!Life has made it hard to put out the podcast weekly, and I can't stop myself from apologizing for that. Just know this is a temporary situation. Diabetes trauma, depression, and full-time work have been hurdles, but I've nearly cleared the first two. Matthew Sage (aka M. Sage) and Fuubutsushi put out four records—aligned with the seasons—that helped keep me sane in quarantine. I talked to him in 2021 in this classic TIYA, and now he's my friend. I took my editing finger to this episode as an experiment to see if I could bring it under 30 minutes. I'm calling this leaner version of the podcast TIYA REMIXED. Jonathan Euseppi has passed away from cancer. I ramble in the intro about who Jonathan is to me, and I've copied the show notes from Jonathan's This Is Your Afterlife episode below to give you more context. I'm uploading this as a new episode in the feed because it is the extended version of our conversation, previously available only on Patreon. I hope you enjoy it as a brief look at Jonathan's life and work.Jonathan Euseppi (he/they/she) is a comedian who creates one-person shows that feature stories and heightened theatricality, so we're kindred spirits. Her first show, Grief Is Horny, was about her dad's death and her love of the musical Cats. His second show, about getting cancer and marrying his wife, is called Cancer Is Gorgeous. We spend the majority of the episode talking about Jonathan's TWO times suffering through cancer (he's currently cancer-free!) and the difference between those times. But they also talk about their wedding day, their struggle to come out as nonbinary, and the calm that came after admitting who they are. Content warning: suicidal ideation, anxiety, cancer, dementia, Parkinson's, water afterlives, crying just thinking about your wedding vows. Here is Jonathan Euseppi's Instagram profile: @jeuseppiYou can follow me @thisisdavemaher on Instagram and Twitter.---Music = Future: "Use Me" / James Blackshaw: "The Cloud of Unknowing"

What percent odds do you actually believe you will experience the apocalypse in your lifetime? It's a hangout show with "Survivor" as the starting point. We only recorded five episodes of It's a Fucking Stick, which means now it's a miniseries dedicated to promoting Dave's new one-man show, Here to Make Friends, which both contains a lot of "Survivor" material and requires no previous knowledge of "Survivor" to enjoy.
