Musa and Ryan begin with a quick mention of Arne Slot's Liverpool departure, which will take the focus on Thursday's show before getting onto the men's Champions League final (04:04), which saw PSG retain the trophy after their penalty shootout win in Budapest. There's chat about Arsenal's impressive start, how PSG struggled to create too many clear looks and the narrow margins that played out for the rest of the two hours of normal and extra-time. There's a load of praise for Luis Enrique, plus multiple players on both teams.Ryan was one of the many hundreds of thousands at the parade in London on Sunday, so there's a bit on that (38:20), how it was exactly what Arsenal needed following the disappointment of Saturday's result and the joy that was on show. Finally, there's a shoutout for Manchester City's women doing the domestic double (48:53), José Mourinho returning to Real Madrid and James Milner retiring.Check out Musa's interview with Zohran Mamdani for GQ here.

It felt like a weekend of broken hearts all around football, but Musa and Ryan begin with Manchester City's win over Chelsea in the FA Cup final (02:12), to secure a domestic cup double and Pep Guardiola's 20th trophy as City boss.Chelsea were quick to counter the disappointment, as it was announced that Xabi Alonso will take over as manager in the summer (12:39) and that's where the bulk of today's show is focussed. There's enough time to chat about Celtic's late win over Hearts (31:34), to secure their 14th title in 15 years in dramatic fashion, as well as a few other shoutouts. Also, Musa did a new piece for the Kickback Soccer newsletter, which you can read here, and tickets for our July live show, with Nish Kumar at the Southbank Centre, are available here. For more podcasts, ad-free and in full, plus access to the Stadio Social Club and much more, you can become a Stadio member by signing up at patreon.com/stadio. Here's a clip from yesterday's Patreon episode, where Musa and Ryan discussed Florentino Pérez's wild press conference earlier this week, where he basically said that he wasn't f***ing leaving. He then declared himself the best president of all time, went on the attack about named and unnamed enemies, dished out insults, sexism and a whole lot of paranoia. To listen to the full episode, along with every Stadio episode, ad-free and in full, you can sign up at patreon.com/stadio. A fairly quiet Sunday then, with nothing too eventful happening in the Premier League.Musa and Ryan begin with a quick chat about Arsenal's 1-0 win over West Ham (03:52) at the London Stadium, which had a big impact at the top and bottom of the table. Yes, they also chat about that decision, but probably less than it's been discussed elsewhere. They then head onto the main topic, which is Barcelona's 2-0 win in the Clásico (16:20), to secure a successive La Liga title and to make a very difficult Real Madrid week even worse. They praise the job Hansi Flick has done at Barça, as well as the players who have brought the club out of one of the most chaotic periods of its recent history. There's also a bit about what on earth is going on at Real Madrid. Finally, Venezia won Serie B this weekend (50:21), thanks to a 2-0 win over Palermo on Friday. Ryan was there, as well as at the incredible title parade on the Grand Canal on Saturday, so there's some chat about one of the most unique spectacles in European football.Don't forget to check out kickbacksoccer.com and tickets for our July live show, with Nish Kumar at the Southbank Centre, are available here. For more podcasts, ad-free and in full, plus access to the Stadio Social Club and much more, you can become a Stadio member by signing up at patreon.com/stadio. It was a blur of a weekend, with seismic results all over Europe! Musa and Ryan begin with Barcelona and Lyonnes getting past Bayern and Arsenal to make it to the UWCL final in Oslo (03:09), moving onto Inter securing their 21st Scudetto (11:37), Venezia making it back to Serie A and more, before heading to the Premier League.Manchester United secured Champions League football for next season (28:31), following their 3-2 win over Liverpool at Old Trafford, so there's chat about that as well as Liverpool's situation. Spurs made it two wins in two to get out of the relegation zone after their win at Villa Park and Bournemouth are one of Europe's most in form teams. Meanwhile, at the top, Arsenal had some key players back and looked sharper than they have in months to beat Fulham 3-0 and go six points clear (50:18) and there's a lot of praise for Myles Lewis-Skelly's performance, starting in midfield for the first time. Finally, there's some Bundesliga chat (56:33), as St. Pauli dropped into the relegation spots and Schalke won promotion back to the top flight.Don't forget to check out kickbacksoccer.com and tickets for our July live show, with Nish Kumar at the Southbank Centre, are available here. For more podcasts, ad-free and in full, plus access to the Stadio Social Club and much more, you can become a Stadio member by signing up at patreon.com/stadio. Musa said this weekend felt like it featured three match days in one, and he wasn't wrong. He and Ryan do a bit of a whirlwind trip through Europe, where there were dramatic promotions, FA Cup semi finals (07:31), UWCL semi final first legs (12:16), more high stakes Premier League games at the top and bottom of the table (15:56), plus big results elsewhere too. After all that, they take a little look ahead to this week's men's Champions League semi final first legs (38:35), in what is set to be another huge week for Bayern, PSG, Atleti and Arsenal.Don't forget to check out kickbacksoccer.com and tickets for our July live show, with Nish Kumar at the Southbank Centre, are available here. Finally, if you missed it, you can catch up on the latest newsletter, including a piece from Musa, plus more photos and video from the Copa del Rey final, here. For more podcasts, ad-free and in full, plus access to the Stadio Social Club and much more, you can become a Stadio member by signing up at patreon.com/stadio. Ryan desperately wanted to do three hours on the Copa del Rey final, which he was at, so there will be a Patreon show on Wednesday all about Real Sociedad's first trophy in front of fans since 1987.However, Manchester City beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Etihad on Sunday, so he and Musa focus their attention there for much of today's show. There's chat about what was a wonderful game, where both sides could feel lucky and unlucky on certain refereeing decisions, as well as lucky and unlucky on how certain chances fell. There were obvious positives for Manchester City, who closed the gap to three points and who can go top if they beat Burnley this week. But, despite the understandable disappointment, there were many positives to take for Arsenal, who will be frustrated about not stealing a point at the end. After that, there's some round-ups and shout outs for the rest of the Premier League, plus Bayern winning the Bundesliga and more! For more podcasts, ad-free and in full, plus access to the Stadio Social Club and much more, you can become a Stadio member by signing up at patreon.com/stadio. Musa and Ryan begin with Union Berlin appointing Marie-Louise Eta as interim head coach of their men's team until the end of the season (02:46).Eta becomes the first woman to take charge of a men's team in Europe's top five leagues, but is no stranger to the Union dugout, having already been a trailblazer for many years already. So, they chat about why the appointment makes so much sense and how it could pave the way for other clubs to do the same in the future. They then move onto the Premier League title race (15:05), after a weekend where Manchester City closed the gap on Arsenal, following the Gunners' home defeat to Bournemouth and City's win away at Chelsea. With huge results up and down the table, as well as a record broken in dramatic fashion, it felt like the biggest weekend in the Premier League season so far.Musa and Ryan chat about Arsenal's win over Everton, where Max Dowman came on, changed the game and became the Premier League's youngest ever goalscorer, in a late 2-0 win.It was made even more important due to West Ham and Manchester City's 1-1 draw, which was a huge result for Nuno EspÃrito Santo, but a costly one for Pep Guardiola. The same scoreline happened at Anfield, where Spurs equalised late against Liverpool, to stop their losing streak. There's chat about Michael Carrick's Manchester United, who bounced back with an impressive win over Aston Villa, before a quick bit on the week coming up for Arsenal and Manchester City. They then quickly head to Europe, for an Arda Güler wonder goal, a Barcelona win, some Serie A and a few more shoutouts.New merch has dropped! Musa's on his travels, so there's a bit of chat up top about him leaning into a Stadio bit. Then he and Ryan chat about this weekend's FA Cup fifth round (07:17), which saw another amazing result for Port Vale, who knocked out Sunderland. Southampton also caused an upset, with a late win at Fulham, while Arsenal got past an impressive Mansfield side. They round up the rest of the results, which saw Liverpool, Chelsea, Leeds and Manchester City progress, before a quick trip to Germany (22:13) to shout out some results and chat briefly about the news that Julian Brandt will leave Dortmund at the end of the season. Then it's time to turn the attention to the Derby della Madonnina (30:13), where Milan completed the double over Inter for the first time since 2010/11, reducing the lead at the top of Serie A to seven points, with ten games to go.Finally, there's a Champions League look ahead (40:52), with the round of 16 first legs taking place this week.March is our spring Patreon push, so to get 30% off your first month, go to patreon.com/stadio and use promo code SPRING at checkout! For more podcasts, ad-free and in full, plus access to the Stadio Social Club and much more, you can become a Stadio member by signing up at patreon.com/stadio. There's also chat about Arne Slot's comments about… set pieces (40:31), and how they're making the Premier League tougher to watch. There's some important admin up top, but once that's all out of the way, Musa and Ryan turn their attention to the Premier League title race once more after what felt like a very important few days. They begin with Arsenal's 4-1 win at Spurs in the North London derby (03:53), which saw them maintain a five point lead at the top of the Premier League. There's chat about braces for Eberechi Eze and Viktor Gyökeres and the response of Mikel Arteta's side, following the defeat to Wolves in midweek. There's a bit of chat about Spurs' position in the table and whether they can realistically go down (24:29), before heading to Manchester City's 2-1 win over Newcastle United on Saturday (30:30), plus some thoughts about the title race in general. After a quick round-up of the rest of the Premier League, they wrap up results elsewhere (49:07), including La Liga, Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue and more!To read Musa's GQ Piece about the VinÃcius Júnior incident last week, head here, and our Patreon episode about it from last week is here. For more podcasts, ad-free and in full, plus access to the Stadio Social Club and much more, you can become a Stadio member by signing up at patreon.com/stadio. The Derby d'Italia this weekend felt crucial in the race for this year's Scudetto. Musa and Ryan chat about Inter leaving it late to beat Juventus (05:03), who were down to ten for the entire second half at San Siro, after a very controversial second yellow for Pierre Kalulu. It took a brilliant winner from Piotr Zieliński to win the game and send Inter eight points clear of the top, thanks to Napoli's draw with Roma. In the middle of all that, there's a big detour about manager's first touches and player showboating (17:39), before chatting about Igor Tudor becoming the Tottenham Hotspur men's interim head coach (34:53). Finally, there's a round-up (45:33) featuring La Liga, Bundesliga, FA Cup, a rare case of a spiritually onside goal actually counting and Mo Salah doing his bit for content. As mentioned, Scouted have launched the first edition of their new digital magazine and are giving Stadio listeners a month's full access to their site (including the new issue) for just £2! In this episode I'm joined by Ryan Hunn of the Stadio podcast to pore over last night's 1-1 draw with Brentford. We discuss a first half in which nothing much happened, but one which raised further questions about Eberechi Eze, and how we get more out him in an Arsenal shirt. The half-time introduction of Martin Odegaard helped, Noni Madueke put us ahead but we immediately sat back and Brentford equalised not long afterwards. We try and explain how and why that happened, as well as chatting about the final stages of the game in which we could have both won and last the game, coping with the chaos of the opposition set-pieces, hindsight substitutions, the grind of the Premier League, what Mikel Arteta will do – if anything – to try and find the attacking spark, and lots more.Follow Ryan on BlueSky here: https://bsky.app/profile/ryanhunn.bsky.socialGet extra bonus content and help support Arseblog by becoming an Arseblog Member on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/arseblog Hosted on Acast. Apologies for the late show today, but we're finally here to chat all about another big weekend in the Premier League title race, which saw Manchester City come from behind to win away at Liverpool, for only the second time under Pep Guardiola. After shout outs for the WSL, PSG v Marseille and a few other results (04:21), Musa and Ryan head to Anfield (11:23), which saw another unbelievable free-kick from Dominik Szoboszlai give Liverpool the lead, a great comeback and the world being cruelly robbed of one of the silliest goals of the modern era. That meant the gap was the same at the top as before the weekend, following Arsenal's impressive 3-0 win over Sunderland on Saturday (30:52). Elsewhere, Aston Villa dropped more points, Manchester United may never lose again, Crystal Palace ended their winless streak and Cole Palmer scored another first half hat-trick.In Germany, Bayern and Dortmund teased a title race (48:13) and St. Pauli got a much needed win. Finally, there's a round-up of La Liga and a bit of chat about Ademola Lookman's move to Atlético Madrid (53:12).A reminder: Southbank Centre live show! March 1st! With special guest Nish Kumar! Musa and Ryan begin this week with a huge game in the WSL, where Manchester City opened up an 11-point gap at the top after their 5-1 win over Chelsea. Arsenal, meanwhile, beat Corinthians in extra-time, to become the winners of the inaugural FIFA Women's Champions Cup.Then, it's onto the Premier League, where there was a true game of two halves that saw Spurs and Manchester City play out a 2-2 draw (10:24) and an incredible Dominic Solanke goal, while Aston Villa lost at home to Brentford, who played out the entirety of the second half down to ten.Arsenal extended their lead at the top, thanks to a very impressive 4-0 win away at Leeds (39:24), Manchester United left it late to keep the good times rolling (46:22) and there's also a round-up of the rest of the Premier League, plus the Bundesliga, La Liga and much more!London crew, don't forget to get those tickets for the next Southbank Centre show, with special guest Nish Kumar, here. For more podcasts, ad-free and in full, plus access to the Stadio Social Club and much more, you can become a Stadio member by signing up at patreon.com/stadio. It was the Stadio derby this weekend, with Manchester United beating Arsenal in the league at the Emirates for the first time since 2017.Musa and Ryan chat about a game that continued the good vibes around Michael Carrick's appointment, following up last week's Manchester derby victory, thanks to two unbelievable goals from Patrick Dorgu and Matheus Cunha (03:27). They also look at it from the Arsenal perspective, their attacking issues and the differences between the recent league and cup performances. It meant Aston Villa and Manchester City closed the gap to their wins, so there's chat about those games as well as the rest of the results (32:11), including a late winner for Bournemouth over Liverpool, another West Ham win and more as the Premier League grind continues. Then it's off to Europe (53:32), where Bayern lost for the first time in the Bundesliga this season thanks to a 1-2 defeat to Augsburg, Inter opened up a gap in Serie A, PSG went top of Ligue 1 and wins for Barcelona, Real Madrid and much more!London listeners, don't forget to get tickets for our next show at the Southbank Centre on March 1st, with special guest Nish Kumar.
