ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response. It refers to a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine in response to certain auditory, visual, or tactile stimuli. This sensation is often described as deeply relaxing and can induce feelings of euphoria or calmness in some individuals. ASMR experiences are highly subjective, and not everyone experiences them or responds to the same triggers. Common triggers include gentle whispering, tapping sounds, crinkling noises, soft spoken voices, personal attention (such as someone brushing hair or applying makeup), and various repetitive movements. ASMR videos have gained popularity on platforms like YouTube, where creators known as "ASMRtists" produce content specifically designed to trigger ASMR responses in viewers. These videos often feature the aforementioned triggers and are intended to help people relax, sleep, or alleviate stress and anxiety. Although ASMR has garnered a significant following and anecdotal evidence suggests its potential benefits for relaxation and stress relief, scientific research on the phenomenon is still in its early stages, and more studies are needed to fully understand its mechanisms and effects on the brain and body.

You've probably come across ASMR content in your TikTok feed recently - content in which you can hear in highly detailed sound of other people eating, brushing their hair or whispering a bedtime story. Earlier this week The Briefing brought you an episode about ASMR and the science behind it - but what is it actually like being someone who creates this content, an 'ASMRtist'? In this bonus episode of The Briefing, you'll hear the full interview between LiSTNR journalist and ASMR Creator Jade Scarborough, aka ASMR Jade.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

So, ASMR, which stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is this tingling sensation people report feeling when exposed to certain sounds or visual stimuli. It's like this wave of calm and relaxation that washes over you, and some folks even say it helps them sleep better or relieves stress. But what's the science behind it? Well, you've got all these ASMRtists out there creating these videos, and they use all sorts of triggers like tapping, whispering, crinkling, you name it. And when you watch or listen to these triggers, it can allegedly activate certain brain regions associated with pleasure and relaxation. It's almost like a brain massage, man. Now, the benefits, if any, are still being studied, but there's anecdotal evidence from ASMR enthusiasts who swear by it. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/wayne-weathersby/support

Knight, wanting a medic alert bracelet that says "no residents plz", how intoxicating boat gas is, teen Liv being "little girl who cried colon cancer", how cringy it is when doctors try to be cool and SO MUCH MORE!!!

Can you believe it's been a year??? I definitely can't!!! But today marks one exact year since I started creating ASMR content. But before I continue blabbing, I want to thank for being here. Thank you for choosing to watch this or any of my videos. Thank you for allowing me inside your safest, quietest times ♥️ I appreciate and love you! Now that that's out there, back to the story. I randomly posted an ASMR video on March 9th, 2021 on TikTok. I didn't know what I was doing (I still don't haha). I didn't know it would become my favorite thing to do. I didn't know I would meet so many incredible people. I didn't know I would grow as much as I have. My one-year goal for TikTok was 1000 followers so I could go live, and I'm starting a new year with over 50k. I started a YouTube channel a month later, because you asked me to post longer videos, so I did. And I'm starting the year with over 4K subscribers. It's been a wonderful journey and you'r part of It. I've grown as an ASMRtist, and I aspire to grow even more. I've also wanted to give up, I've compared myself, life was hard and great this whole year. But I'm so glad I didn't give up, I'm grateful I have vision, hope and creativity towards my craft. I enjoy relaxing you, I enjoy bringing you comfort because the positivity we put out in the world matters. It makes a difference. So I will continue! Cheers, to many more years, my dearest baby coconut
