Breaking news from Ardalan and T.Williams at Basscoast Festival

Video version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03N5Bd9FunM Welcome back to another episode of the Rave Room Podcast. In this episode I sat down with 2 absolute legends. We spoke about how they enjoyed their Basscoast festival experience, their music and so much more. Ardalan Enamored first by traditional Iranian music and classic jazz and rock, Ardalan's taste began to transform with his childhood years spent moving back and forth from Iran and California. “Mr. Spock.” Call it beginner's luck, or more likely, a sign of what was to come–in2010, Ardalan shared one of his earliest studio explorations with Justin Martin, which became the foundation for the breakout hit. “Mr. Spock,” in its bizarre and booty-shaking glory, has been accredited as one of the “tracks that made Dirtybird famous,” helping to define the label's now darling reputation as a trusted source of ridiculous, off-the-wall dance floor bangers. Since, he continued to translate his deep-rooted connection to the dance floor in the studio with remixes on Toy Tonics, Play It Down, Yoshitoshi, and Dirtybird. T Williams  West London's T.Williams is one of those people, having accomplished a full sweep of merited recognition over the years. Emerging onto the house scene in 2010, T.Williams instantly marked himself as a breakthrough artist with a difference; his unique take on house music turning heads. Far from a newcomer, his path as a musical artist started in the grime scene as Dread.D. Signed at the tender age of 17 with grime anthem Invasion on Jon E Cash's Black Ops label, Williams went on to have mass success in the grime and bass world selling thousands of singles worldwide. After a five-year reign, Williams found himself veering towards the world of house music. releasing solo works on his imprint Local Action and Pattern with remixes for Maya Jane Coles, Ben Westbeech and Skream. The end of 2011 saw Williams nominated for ‘Best Breakthrough DJ' by DJ Mag, ‘DJ Stars of 2012' by Time Out and featured in The Guardian. Two relationships came to the forefront in 2012 that propelled Williams to greater heights. The first was his weekly show on legendary London station, Rinse FM and the second, Williams' relationship with label PMR through his remix of Javeon McCarthy's ‘Lost Time'. The remix was named Record of the Week by BBC Radio 1 and supported by tastemakers Annie Mac and Fearne Cotton. From here T. signed to the label exclusively releasing his debut EP for the label in September 2012, and in the process receiving further support from BBC Radio 1. Further remixes of Mikky Ekko, Wretch 32 and Lianne La Havas followed suit, as well as his biggest to date - Disclosure's ‘Latch'. Powering dancefloors across the globe. Gaining his own monthly residency show with BBC Radio 1, 2013 ended with T. having played over 100 shows across four continents. 2017 marked the launch and release of the first collaborative EP with UK producer Julio Bashmore, via their joint independent Conch Records, a label aiming to push out more underground cross-genre music with heavy rotation from the likes of Moxie and Shy One. With an ever-expanding global tour schedule and further solo releases on the legendary NYC house label Strictly Rhythm turning heads, T.'s upward trajectory has never showed signs of slowing down. Using his technical prowess as a musician to educate the next generation of rising stars at London's respected Point Blank Music School has cemented his status as one of the UK music scene's key players.  Connect: Rave Room Podcast: https://linktr.ee/raveroompodcast --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/raveroompodcast/message

We've been waiting a while for an infusion of fresh sound into the international breaks scene and at long last we have two new, talented artists to be excited about in the world of breakbeat. This week the Space Cowboys are very excited to welcome to The RIPEcast this year's Breakspoll winners for best Breakthrough DJ, Se7en Deadly Breaks (aka Aaron King and Jake McCaffery). Press play and enjoy the ride! Aaron King & Jake McCaffery joined forces back in 2007 to form Se7en Deadly Breaks as they both had a passion for underground music (and an even bigger passion to be the ones behind the decks). Whilst the pair were making their mark in and around Berkshire they also had shows on two of the biggest pirate radio stations in London, PointBlank FM & Flex FM, which caught the attention of some well known names in the scene including Deekline & Wizard, Pure SX, Pyramid, Jigga Flo, Sneaky D, CodeBreaker and Ben & Lex to name a few. Over the last six years, Se7en Deadly Breaks have graced the decks at some of London's biggest clubs while sharing the bill with their idols in the Breakbeat world such as Deekline, Stanton Warriors, Pyramid, Ed Solo, High Rankin, Hostage & Jurrasik to name a few. They recently headlined the 2012 Hot Cakes Break Beach Festival in Spain and released their first single, "Superman", on Deekline's BOOTY BREAKS label in November 2012 (which went all the way to the top of Beatport's TOP 100 BREAKS CHART). And earlier this year, Se7en Deadly Breaks were named "Best Breakthrough DJ' at the 12th International Breakbeat Awards! I still have a bunch of his earliest releases on vinyl! He is definitely one of my favorite dj/producers and I had the privelege and honor of becoming part of his record label as an artist back in 2007. He is one of the realest and most humble personalities in the industry. He has inspired me to continue making music and for that I have to thank him. So without further to say or do, here is Saeed Younan with a mix he let me pick out from his library of mixes, this one was recently recorded in May 2012 live at Teka in Washington DC as he played alongside Marco Carola. Enjoy!  -mentor As always remember to post some comments or questions regarding the show or email me at mentorio@aol.com or via facebook.com/johnrivasmusic Remember to subscribe for new mixes every week!
