L'autrice, âgée de 57 ans, nous reçoit dans la chambre de bonne dans le Marais, à Paris, où elle écrit ses livres, à l'occasion de la publication ces derniers mois de son roman, « Jour de Ressac ». I'm stoked to be back.” Jess McClain (née Tonn) has signed a professional contract with Brooks Running a month after finishing fourth at the 2024 U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials in a personal best of 2:25:46. McClain burst onto the marathoning scene winning the Mesa Marathon in Feb. 2022 and then securing a U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials qualifying mark of 2:29:25 at Grandma's Marathon in June 2023. She has been coaching herself. Even after the signing, she will remain in Arizona and will still coach herself. McClain is the Olympic team alternate, which means if O'Keeffe, Sisson or Lindwurm were to get injured and unable to race in Paris, she would be called in as the replacement. “I just really enjoyed getting here. Maybe not the whole last eight years – it's been a road and a journey – but the last year or two of running has been so fun. I know it's been a whole thing that I don't have a coach, don't have an agent, don't have a sponsor. But I literally have just been running because I love it. It's been so freeing and there's been no pressure. I think I needed to step away from that infrastructure and that approach to the sport for a little bit. And it's just been so fun. I think enjoying the process, not having that pressure coming into the trials – I had nothing to lose. I knew I had to be smart, that it could go sideways if I wasn't. Getting here healthy was 100% the focus and enjoying every moment of training.” Jess McClain (née Tonn) stunned America on Saturday when she finished fourth at the U.S. Olympic Marathon Trials. She ran 2:25:46 for a personal best by nearly four minutes. She is unsponsored. She has a full-time job as the executive director of the Love Up Foundation. She also works as a marketing consultant. Before all of that, many in the track and field community remember her as Jess Tonn – the former Brooks Beast 5000m specialist and an All-American at Stanford. We didn't have her on our pre-race predictions or our radar at all but now we will. In this episode, we re-introduce you to Jess as one of America's newest marathoning stars. She takes us through the past few years and how running may have always been part of her life but didn't define her after leaving the professional ranks. Does this Shutter make you shudder? I'll see myself out... Synopsis After a night out with friends, a photographer named Tun and his girlfriend Jane are driving home when they accidentally hit a woman in the street. Instead of helping her, Tun convinces Jane to run to avoid responsibility. In the days after Tun starts to notice strange artifacts in his photos. They soon realize that this isn't regular photography, its…G-G-G-Ghost photograph. As the photo ghost continues to haunt them, they try to unravel the mystery behind why she is haunting them.  Review of Shutter (2004) This is a pretty ok movie. It's pretty run of the mill formula of “here's a paranormal phenomena thats talked about on Discovery channel, lets wrap a movie around it.” It loses points for relying way too much on ghost pikaboo and disorientating fakeouts. I think they would have done better trying to scare the audience with jumpscares, and focused on the drama/mystery more. The repetition of jump scares and creepy photos throughout the second act are only interrupted by confusing non-sequiter appearances of one of Tun's friends, Tonn, asking desperately for photographs before his untimely death. It all makes sense in the end, but the pacing and editing were off so it feels like the first half of the movie crashed into a second movie halfway through. The story behind the ghost is the most compelling part of the movie, and unfortunately they leave most of that until the third act.  Overall it was an interesting story with pacing issues, but at an hour and thirty minute runtime, it never really outstayed its welcome. Score 5/10
