Unklevon's debut ‘UN1C' LP on Boysnoize Records The album consists of 11 tracks and features collaborations with Boys Noize, Alina Pash, Maral, Vel and DJ MELL G. The title track of Unklevon's ‘UN1C' album starts with a steady snare-heavy beat, foreboding atmospherics and a futuristic vocal. It introduces the France-based producer's Detroit-inspired electro LP and also marks his debut full-length, landing on Boysnoize Records, a label Unklevon's been affiliated with since 2022. For the second track on Unklevon's ‘UN1C' LP, the International Chrome & Nechto artist is joined by Maral for ‘Bag Secured', adding her sensual vocals to a raw cut featuring rough synthlines and racing rhythm. ‘Science Club' then continues with infectious and hypnotic energy driven by a deep, earworm vocal before ‘Speed Chains' picks up pace with speedy basslines and rhythms shot through with bleeps. Ukranian singer Alina Pash infuses Unklevon's ‘High Key' with fantastic modern hip-hop flair, with ‘All 4 Homies' returning to the club with cut-up sampling and tripped-out electro sonics. Boysnoize Records' Boys Noize also teams up with Unklevon for ‘Spa8cid', a menacing dancefloor heavy-hitter which eases into the acid madness of ‘Miami South Express' which follows. Next up, Unklevon and Vel drop the aptly named ‘Transed About U', a true peak-time roller boasting hypnotic trance-like gated vocals, with German electro superstar DJ MELL G joining him for ‘Wizard Snakes', taking a more classical approach with rich synth lines and crisp drum work. Name a genre, and you can bet that Luis Garban has tried his hand at it once or twice. Once a staple of the mid-'00s IDM and breakcore scene—think Tigerbeat6—as Cardopusher, Garban found a temporary home in the dubstep scene afterwards, before shooting off in what felt like a million directions. He might be the only artist to release on both Hyperdub and Boysnoize Records. He makes music that can sound like the future or the past, sometimes both at once, and the Venezuelan-born, Spain-based producer's name is shorthand for musical adventurism and variety. Last year, things got even wilder with the debut of Safety Trance, a new alias that explores pan-Latin club music, with a focus on collaboration and shorter, structured songs. (Artists he's worked with include Arca, Iceboy Violet and Virgen Maria.) It's some of the best and most creative work of his career, riding a larger Latin techno wave producing some of the best music around these days. If that weren't enough, returning to Cardopusher, Garban has a career-best EP on the way for EVAR Records, pulling together the various strands of the project into a multi-genre, Gen-Z-friendly raveathon. Safety Trance (@cardopusher) is a new alias from Luis Garban aka Cardospusher, the Venezuelan noise-mangler who has spent 20 years twisting together EBM, acid, hardcore, wave, acid and techno. In the past, this moniker has seen him work alongside Rosalia and Planningtorock on tracks from Arca ́s KiCk series for XL Recording, and earlier in the year he dropped his Noches de Terror EP on Boysnoize Records. It found him exploring new possibilities within the world of reggaeton, always with his own textural twist. And that mission continues in this week's podcast which collides stiff, angular rhythms with caustic industrial, acid, rave and trap. It's a strobe-lit selection of head-thrashing electronic music packed with girt and grime. As Garban notches up the tempo things get ever more wild and noisy so that, eventually, you're left completely consumed by the dystopian fuzz. What a thrill.

Venezuelan-born and based in Barcelona, as the founder behind Classicworks and a singular producer, Cardopusher is as rough and rugged as they come. For over a decade he has been a driving force behind cutting edge, experimental electronic music having evolved through the dubstep era and mutating into the realm of techno and house in recent times. He has released an eclectic array of hardware driven, machine music on the likes of Hyperdub, Boysnoize Records, Super Rhythm Trax, I Love Acid and many more. His sound is diverse and abstract at times, drawing upon deep rooted influences and an eclectic sphere of music from across the spectrum of electronics. Not someone who can be easily placed into a definitive category or box, he blurs the lines between house, acid, slow-mo and beyond. This mix is very much a reflection of that.

Australia’s foremost purveyor of weaponized electro, Jensen Interceptor. One of the brightest lights on the booming electro scene that’s seen a renaissance in the recent years, he first piqued the interest of DJs from Helena Hauff to Maceo Plex through releases on Boysnoize Records, Motorik! and Sheffield’s Central Processing Unit in recent years with his devastating brand of floor-focused electro, which ranged from mechanical electro-funk to mutant ghettotech. 2018 has since been a particularly prolific year for him as a producer. Real name Mikey Melas, he’s dropped no less than seven EPs, on labels including E-Beamz, Cultivated Electronics and Power Station, with productions built on a maturing of his distinctive sound. The end of the year also sees Melas put out his debut album on Maceo Plex’s Lone Romantic. Featuring collaborations with DeFekT, The Hacker and long-term collaborator Assembler Code, the ten-track LP is an ode to his mum, titled ‘Mother’. Read the full feature on djmag.com
