Today we welcome back Peter Sweeney better known as Rustal to the Four Four premiere series, as the RLSD boss features on Diffuse Reality. We premiere the track ‘Pixies Return' a dark and cloudy take on classic dub techno with Rustal's signature rolling grooves at the helm of an addictive rhythm. Peter Sweeney better known as Rustal joins Diffuse Reality with his mini-album ‘Nexus Zeal' which is due for release on the 12th of December. Rustal joins the labels formidable list of previous of previous releases which includes work from Sunil Sharpe, Dez Williams, Orlando Voorn, Marcel Dettmann, Mary Velo, Zadig and more. Rustal's sound is heavily influenced by authoritative techno figures, wether it be Claude Young, Steve Rachmad, Shifted or Moritz von Oswald, the Dublin native is known for extensively delving into classic and contemporary techno sounds. Peter's obsession for cavernous techno experimentation has landed him in some elite clubs, cities, parties and played alongside some of the world's finest. Diffuse Reality has become one of the most powerful establishments within modern techno. The label was founded in Barcelona in 2013 and has since become a hotbed for forward thinking and cultivated techno from a variety of established and dexterous artists. The lables previous releases from some of the most prominent names within techno culture speak for themselves, and the label has been devoted to sculpting a home for dynamic techno for just under a decade. Rustal's six track contribution to Diffuse Reality show's the Dublin native at his very best. The RLSD boss stretches loops and expands on cavernous grooves with great ease. Winding sequences and deep-seated synth cycles meet rolling low end & shuffling percussive grooves for a mini album that simply scream techno funk. We premiere an all Irish techno weapon from Rustal with Jon Hussey on remix duties for the newly formed Circuit Structure Records label curated by Offtrack. Jon's remix is pure and pounding broken techno at it's very best, hypnotic synth lines lay across hammering bass drum and percussion hits to brutal effect. Simple but effective the concept has been in label owner Offtrack's mind & in the making for the last two years. Circuit – A synonym for Loop. Loop driven techno of many structures. All things bleepy with a hint of the sound from the 90s. Jon Hussey creates expertly crated techno, that is categorically deep, rolling and packed with intricate rhythmic touches, but when speaking about Jon, categorising it is utterly pointless, as his evolution as a DJ and producer is incessant. Jon has released music on Irish imprints Earwiggle, Delinquent Delivery and RLSD. His collaborations with the late Stuey Lyons [R.I.P.] are thought to be some of his best work, receiving widespread notoriety and support from some of the leading techno DJs in the world. Jon also notably had his work on RLSD remixed by Japanese techno icon Takaaki Itoh. Jon's remix is dripping with Slovakian techno flavour, similar to the sounds of the early 2000's that were championed by DJ Boss, Bas Mooy, Jeroen Liebregts and more. The is a golden & dynamic loop, thrusting over pounding low end and sharp percussive grooves. This is simply beautiful. This week's Local Selection Mix is a meaty live recording from Rustal in the Sugar Club for RLSD Records. Peter Sweeney better known as Rustal brought the his machines for a workout of just under an hour of techno funk. Rustal is one of Dublin's most accomplished techno act's at this very present moment. The regular fixture in Dublin's techno scene, can be found laying it down in venues across the city, wether it be a live set or behind a set of decks, Rustal has a pedigree for deep and driving techno excursions. Over the course of Rustal's extensive career he has regularly played in Berlin with a key performance in the fabled Tresor booth alongside Deniro, Mareena and more. Rustal has also thrown down in the home of techno, Detroit which is the end goal for many techno DJ and performers. The Dublin native has also notably played alongside techno titans such as DJ Bone, Luke Slater, Surgeon and more. Rustal's contribution to the Local Selection is deep, pounding and dubby trip through a selection of analogue hardware, with the Korg Electribe Emx-1 being the heart of the set-up. Rustal glides through warped synth lines, piercing acid cuts and jacking flavours, with absolute ease. As alway's with live set's, moving between moods and nuances can be tricky to make it cohesive, but Rustal holds the energy with immense poise and the trip is ultimately coherent. Raw and honest techno inspired by the past, but with eye's firmly on the future. Heiko Laux's Exclusive TDJS Mix presented by The DJ Sessions 6/24/22 About Heiko Laux - As the youngest of 5 children, Heiko Laux was always the rebel in the family challenging norms even in his youth. To this day his stimulating approach to elec- tronic music has showcased his ability to flutter between genres with various ali- ases, projects and sounds. Founded in 1994 by Heiko Laux, Kanzleramt was Germany's premier techno label releasing some of the freshest sounds of that time. 20 years later the label is still continuously testing boundaries in contempo- rary techno, breaching the gaps between techno, trance and minimal. Since the release of Heiko's last album on Kanzleramt in 2006 he has explored different sonic landscapes ranging from classic techno sounds to deep techno by releasing on various labels. His work on Truesoul, Figure and Soma all feature collaborations with Amsterdam-based producer Steve Rachmad. Other labels include Rejected, Suol, Tronic and Uturn, which dips into the realm of hypnotic techno. In the past year Heiko has put out two EPs on Josh Wink's label, Ovum, each one worked as collaboration. The first release with Diego Hostettler was true to his own style as well as to Ovum as the tracks will excite any dance floor. However, most recently his EP with Alexander Lukat on Ovum has been the number one seller for Ovum on Beatport since its release in October 2013. For Heiko Laux inspiration can spring up from any source. Constantly living in the moment, capturing emotions and reactions from the world around him as his productions illustrate the beauty of exotic lands and galactic landscapes. Once in the moment there is no going back, only moving forward and only creation. In January 2014 the twentieth anniversary of Kanzleramt was celebrated at Berlin's renowned Berghain and since then Heiko has been requested all around the world, from Los Angles to Sweden to Tokyo, to represent and showcase his labels works. The release of Fernweh will mark a great accomplishment for Heiko Laux as it will be his fifth solo album for Kanzleramt. From starting out in 1994 in the heat of the uprising techno, Heiko has experienced many movements in the music- sphere however he will always play an important role and symbolize of the glob- ally celebrated golden age of techno. With no interest in remaking albums or dwelling on the past, Heiko is constantly moving forward, finding new inspiration. Motivated by his undoubted passion, he will continue to produce music to fill the void in contemporary techno. We premiere Scottish electronic music royalty, Vince Watson. The now Netherlands based artist returns for his incredible 13th album, which is no mean feat for any musician. Vince has had a massive year with releases on Get Physical, Tronic, SushiTech, All Day I Dream, his own Everysoul Audio and a host of remixes. Vince ends 2021 by presenting his label's biggest and most adventurous release to date, ‘DnA [re]Sequenced'. This is also accompanied by the [re]Sequenced Sampler which features 3 brand new mixes from the DnA album by Vince himself. The album also features some of electronic music titans including Carl Craig, Claude Young, Jon Dixon, Steve Rachmad, John Beltran, Shawn Rudiman, Stephen Lopkina and Stephen Brown. After the massive response to Watson's ‘DnA' album in 2019, Vince had wanted to carve a different spin on the LP by having some of the tracks remixed by his favourite Detroit ‘flavoured' artists from the three places that have influenced his music: Scotland, Amsterdam, Detroit. We premiere his track ‘First Wave [808 Mix]'. The track is reminiscent of some classic Galaxy 2 Galaxy records from Underground Resistance. A punchy but still funky 808 drum workout locks in the groove while angelic style synth work transcends you to space. Warm and fluffy pads simmer through the track while a powerful baseline runs through your body, the heavenly lead bounces around the track with an entrancing melody. The track is powerful, euphoric and tranquil all at the one time. This is proper electronic music. The local selection mix returns with a 3 deck hour of power as Dublin young gun Conor Reilly aka CON.R blends seamlessly through modern techno grooves with old-school loopy classics. Conor began playing in clubs in early 2019, and has gone on to share line ups with international artists such as JKS, Mayeul, Airod and KRTM. During lockdown Conor earned a radio residency at Phever, where he presents his show ‘Beats & Bleeps' bi-weekly. The mix features music from CRAVO, Chris McCormack, UMEK, Steve Rachmad, Kaiser, Sev Dah, Rove Ranger and more. This mix is an absolute master class from the Dublin young gun and we look forwards to hearing more from CON.R in the future. INTERVIEW + TRACKLIST > https://inverted-audio.com/mix/steve-rachmad/ Dutch producer @steverachmad turns in a no-holds-barred live set under his Sterac guise recorded at a small Sunday party at Razzmatazz club in Barcelona from November 2019.
Arguing that it's about time for Stefan Vincent to step into the limelight is understating matters. After all, if you're able to count the heads of some of the world's finest labels, (think Token, Sthlm LTD and Dynamic Reflection) and the likes of Laurent Garnier and Jeff Mills among your fans, you're obviously doing something right. This relative anonymity isn't something that troubles the Amsterdam based producer, DJ and live act, though: more than willing to invest time in his art, the man literally lives in his studio and so is in no hurry whatsoever. His path, unlike that of many, hasn't found him go from playing records to making them, but instead, after discovering work by inspirational figures like Steve Rachmad, Surgeon and Jeff Mills, Stefan immediately set to work on his won creative projects. Whether it is playing a DJ set or cooking up an expressive live set, Stefan always translates his singularly deep, rich and driving sound into the club environment. With a good amount of solid techno releases under his belt, he continues to win over the hearts and dancing feet of audiences across the planet. Don't say we aren't good to you. Ending the year with a bang we bring you a special mix from the one and only Steve Rachmad, the longstanding Dutch techno veteran. A pivotal figure in dance and electronic music, he has cast a spell upon techno in a manner unlike any other, his music championed far and wide by a sprawling array of dj's. Never one to stand still he has channeled his creativity across a number of personalities and guises having released as A Scorpion's Dream, Adverse Match, Black Scorpion, Continuous Cool and of course Sterac. His music is machine driven, drawn on a wealth of experience and experimentation through hardware and analogue equipment whilst in the booth his approach as a dj is versatile and constantly changing. This mix was recorded at Thuishaven as part of the close of their winter season.
Amsterdam techno institution Steve Rachmad delivers a ferocious mix of (mostly) original productions recorded at this year’s 909 Festival. From triumphant melodic techno and acid to deep, hammering rhythms, it's a superb anthology of the versatile producers work. We catch up with the longstanding DJ to discuss the city’s changing scene, evolving as a DJ and plans for the future... Read the full feature on djmag.com

Hit the [↻ Repost] button if you like it! #153 of our podcast row by @jibismusic from Hypnotik Festival 2017 in Lyon! ➡ https://www.facebook.com/jibismusic ➡ https://www.youtube.com/user/Jibis01 ➡ https://www.residentadvisor.net/dj/jibis ➡ http://www.jibis.fr Jibis started mixing and doing music at the end of the years 2000, and is now one of the strong element of Lyon’s scene and the “Tapage Nocturne” group. By using all the aspects of the tracks he picks, galvanising rhythms and enhancing the sound layers, he always tries to give all the music depths that he perceives to the audience. With a steady pace, he likes to adapt to the atmosphere of a venue and delivers powerful DJ sets coloured with techno, house and acid. Seen and heard at many parties, his maturity gained over the years allowed him to play side by side with a lot of famous artists such as Ellen Allien, Ben Klock, Steve Rachmad, Len Faki, Shlomo, Julian Jeweil, Antigone, Ryan Crosson, Robert Owens, Sam Paganini - only to mention a few. On the production side, he is a free spirit. After few releases on Bonzaï Records, Italo Business and Aenaria, he also collaborates with the French labels Nashton Records and the recent project Blue Night Jungle. Full of passion, Jibis is learning from his numerous experiences such as his studio collaboration with the Parisian conductor Jeff Beckmann or his residency at DV1, a monument of the night scene in Lyon. In June 2016, he had the chance to do the finish of the last club’s party in a magnificent energy. Also keen on a darker and more personal music, you will have the opportunity to discover other aspects of his personality under the alias’ "Sanjib" and "SJ".
Dutch DJ Steve Rachmad is one of Holland's original techno producers. He's also one of the truest in term of his undiluted commitment to the music in its original Detroit-manufactured form. No wonder he carries with him a "Detroit pass" like fellow European greats Laurent Garnier, Maurizio and Luke Slater. Whether making and playing music as Sterac (his harder techno alias), Tons of Tones (his most Detroit-sounding records) or as his own groovy self, the Amsterdam fixture continues to move crowds after more than 25 behind the decks. He talks about his early discovery of pre-techno electronic music, his close call with Dutch hardcore and his ambition to play live...someday, all on this episode of Rave Curious.

DANIEL NITSCH on: - Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/danielnitschofficial - SoundCloud: https://soundcloud.com/daniel-nitsch-the-glitz HOW I MET THE BASS on: - Facebook: www.facebook.com/howimetthebass - Twitter: www.twitter.com/howimetthebass - Mixcloud: www.mixcloud.com/HowIMetTheBass 3 QUESTIONS to DANIEL NITSCH: Q: Your mix is full of great storys. Tell us about how these tracks had an influence on your career? A: I must confess that I was a HipHop kid in the early 1990s. WuTang, PublicEnemy, BeastieBoys (alltime heroes!), basketball, graffiti and gentle attempts to breakdance - that was my life. I can remember very well how I listened the anthem of "Planet Rock“ for the first time on a tape. Oh my - that has blown me away and it was on repeat for the following weeks. In these days I didn’t play records but I listened to different styles of music. I believe that the sound of this time influenced me a lot. In the middle of the 1990s I started DJing and producing. Just in the beginning there was Classic House and Electro where I still can find a soft spot today. It’s great that artists like Steve Rachmad, DJ Hell, The Hacker but also Daft Punk, Steve Bug and many many other are still inside our scene nowadays. There are so many classic songs which you can find from time to time inside my case. Q: You are 50% of the famous duo THE GLITZ. But what´s musicially the difference between that and your solo project? A: I´m quite sure that people who know "The Glitz" and who know my solo project "Daniel Nitsch" will hear that very fast. For me "The Glitz" is an exciting and fantastic common project by Andreas Henneberg and me. We both came from different musical fields and have completely different influences in music. Somehow we found a way and we got the luck that we develop an own sound where we can suprise us every time in the studio or on stage. For many people "The Glitz" stands for a kind of peak-time sound which gives you a positive vibe. It’s not important which sound we make together but it’s important that we can smile and have fun. And about my solo project: I would say that mostly I´m a collector and selector and as music junkey always in search of new music which delights me without building musicial borders. You can find sudden changes in my sets - Acid House coming after HipHop or a Delsin-Record follows an old Funk-Song, having finally an 1980s Ambient-Song in the end - all is possible. But for sure I pay attention on the crowd and try to have a good harmonic night with them. Also for my productions I worked a little bit different and float sometimes for days in any soundscapes or I make musical journeys for myself. Q: Which Daniel Nitsch activities/projects can we expect soon? A: At the moment I work a lot of for my new own label FeelRawAudio. As artists I´ve joined the crew „Feines Tier“ from Cologne two months ago - really exciting artists and DJs. Also there will happen some more in the next time. I think until the end of the year you can expect a new solo vinyl and remixes from me. But let´s take it easy as I´m quite relaxed about it.

As any proper techno fan will know, Sterac is an alias of the legendary Dutch man Steve Rachmad and it has been since the 90s. Over the years, Sterac has been responsible for some classics of the genre (including the peerless album Secret Life of Machines), and recently he has been back working under the moniker on labels like Klockworks, Delsin and Mote Evolver. He also records as Sterac Electronics, however, an ever lesser used alias that is more focussed on electro sounds. As Sterac and Sterac Electronics his output joins the dots between Detroit and the Netherlands, both in the studio and the DJ booth. This podcast comes from Sterac Electronics in the wake of Dekmantel relaxing a short documentary about Steve, his musical taste, influences and views on DJing, and just ahead of him playing the Selectors stage at the festival later in the year. Watch that short film here (http://dkmn.tl/1HrAY5k), just before you tuck into his dazzling mix. Starting with some glittery disco, the summery selection then dips its toe into frazzled 80s synths, dancing arps, tooting trumpets and the sweetest of vocal tracks. It’s jammed packed with floor filling gold from the disco world and is an impressive detour from the techno sound most people know him for. Stick this one on and it is sure to get your hips moving and your mouth smiling.
Welcome to Drone Podcast. We deliver you a podcast of a Techno minded hero every 2 weeks.Today it’s Thursday the 28th of May 2015 and you are listening to the Drone Podcast No. 022.Once again we are proud to present a Techno Heavyweight on the Drone Podcast show. A child of the London acid-house explosion, British-born DJ and producer Dave Angel has been responsible for an astonishing amount of music over the years. Dave's journey, since his first foray in production with his 'Nightmare Remix' of Eurythmics' 'Sweet Dreams', has been an enviable one. The son of a jazz musician, Angel's roots are in bebop and modern jazz as much as in the Detroit-styled techno he has famously helped to pioneer. His back catalogue is littered with singles, EPs and remixes on some of music’s most esteemed record labels that include Polydor/Love, OuterRythm, Fnac, React Records, Island, R+S and Outrage imprints, and now he finds himself launching a new chapter in his career, releasing tracks on Bedrock and Crosstown Rebels.Responsible for the formation of one of the scene's most important imprints, Rotation Records, not only served as a platform for Dave's own exquisite work but was paramount to the beginnings of many careers: Adam Beyer, Christian Smith, Deetron, Vince Watson, Laidback Luke, The Advent, Jamie Anderson, Bryan Zentz, Steve Rachmad and Misstress Barbara amongst many, all cut their earliest grooves on the label and each helped to define Rotation as both a purveyor for new sounds and new talent. Now, his sights are set on the future, busily crafting a slew of cuts that are set to take this year by storm. And in a very special treat, Dave Angel has mixed the very first Balance Selections podcast for 2015. Tracklisting and interview here: http://www.balancemusic.com.au/news/dave-angel-podcast/

From a young age he was inspired by music such as Jazz, Soul, Blues and Funk that made him start to play the piano. While discovering his love for techno music and for house music a long time ago, he also found his love for hardware, producing and performing. A big talent with lots of experience. This year he will have all his focus on the one great love: Techno music. This is the second live set on the Drone Podcast. Performing with his Roland Juno 106 and MFB-522, he works with only his own productions and tracks. This hero loves to go wild with chopped up kicks, drums, stabs, hats, synths and so much more. A true perfectionist and performer in his heart and in his soul.We are also very proud to say announce he is working hard on his first vinyl release that will be released in January 2015 on Nighttripper label from Techno pioneer Orlando Voorn. Definitely an artist to follow. And don’t worry. He will be around. Welcome to the Drone Podcast 007 with the talented David Hulsken Live. Please enjoy.
The 22nd Avenue Red Podcast comes from Rotterdam-based DJ 751 (real name Jelle Hamstra), a DJ who is younger than his episode number and in this deliciously educational vinyl mix of high-quality old-skool Techno he has delivered a perfectly mixed selection of records that, barring one, were all pressed & released before he even started school. We admire this kind of dedication from DJ's who mine through the veins of electronic musical heritage and dig deep beyond the baize of current music to find their own concept of sound like Jelle has. Clearly he has done his homework and carved out his own niche of sounds, playing a fresh mixture of Techno, Electro and IDM that traces back to way before his time and leads up to the present day. His job working at the Distribution warehouse at the mighty Clone in Rotterdam can only help his cause, being surrounded by various sources of inspiration... and lots of records! Originally from The Hague, the capital city of the province of South Holland, 751 started DJ'ing at the The Hague Sweatshop Skate Park as part of the Sweatshop Soundsystem and quickly gained attention with his unique collection of records and his enthusiastic, passionate way of playing through them. Since then he built up an impressive DJ's CV, earning himself a string of bookings over in the Dutch capital of Amsterdam at Festivals such as Lowlands, Pitch Festival, Off Centre, Dekmantel and also at the famous Trouw nightclub. He has shared the stage with big shots like Derrick May, Steve Rachmad, ROD & Boddika to name a few. But sometimes the best place to listen to pure quality is in your headphones. We hope you enjoy this mix of timeless music from 751 as much as we did! @751 ===== 01 Ray Tracing - Aqueo 73 // Irdial Discs (1991) 02 Open House Featuring Placid Angles - Aquatic // Retroactive (1991) 03 Peel Seamus - First Of June // Delsin (1998) 04 Keith Tucker - Oscillator (Bonus Beats) // Puzzlebox Records (1998) 05 Musicology - Mondrin // B12 (1992) 06 Ismistik - Monospace // Djax-Up-Beats (1993) 07 Kenny Larkin - Aurora // Matrix Records (Detroit) (1993) 08 Stefan Robbers - Masquerade // 100% Pure (1994) 09 Florence - The Vineyard (Peter Ford Remix) // Eevo Lute Muzique (1996) 10 ESP - 6:01 // Synewave (1995) 11 The Connection Machine - Bitflower // Planet E (1994) 12 Abstract Thought - Consequences Of Cloning // Kombination Research (2003) 13 Dan Curtin - Spliffed // Peacefrog Records (1994) 14 Atypic - Blah // Applied Rhythm Technology (ART) (1991) 15 Eon - A Kind Of Living (Minimal Man Remix Part 2) // Vinyl Solution (1994) 16 Tons Of Tones - Oh Ah Oh Ah Oh // Urban Sound Of Amsterdam (1994) 17 Reload - Le Soleil Et La Mer (Black Dog Productions Remix) // Infonet (1993) 18 FUSE - Train Trac (Kaboose) // Warp Records (1993)
Mark Rogan (IRL) - NightVision Techno PODCAST 50 Pt. 4 Bio: When it comes to dance music, Belfast might not be the first destination most people would turn to for raw, uncompromising Techno of a global standard, however in recent years all that has changed. A troubled past and on-going rioting by minority groups has for a long time held the city, and country at large, back from making true progress. As a direct reaction to this, however, an underground and hedonistic club culture blossomed as a younger generation, determined to take a different approach to life and community, took hold. Leading the way in this development is one of the capital city’s most prolific sons, Mark Rogan - accomplished producer, sound designer and DJ - and integral part of the Northern Irish electronic scene. Born and raised in North Belfast, Mark was exposed to and instilled with a passion for music from an early age, taking special influence from his father’s record collection, which exposed him to everything from late 60s/70s rock to disco to 80s electronica. Bored by the mainstream output of radio, he quickly launched himself into record buying, a hobby which began at an early age. One of the great turning points for Mark, however, was the teenage discovery of House, Hard Trance, Techno and Hardcore that took off in the nineties. “I had to settle with buying or copying tapes, which I got off my cousins who went to the clubs. They were some of the best days of their lives - it was a total release to the strains of growing up in the shit going on here. I learnt first hand that music itself was a common bond and brought people together.” It was at this point that Mark got his hands on his first set of belt-driven turntables along with a basic two channel mixer. Throwing himself into making mix-tapes for friends and DJ-ing at house parties was just the beginning. His cousin, who had been caught by the techno bug after living in Amsterdam, taught him how to beat match and mix properly, helping to introduce him to the proper underground sound of Techno. Moving away from the Hardcore and Trance scene, he started playing, listening and exploring further the musical roots of Techno: from the deep and soulful, from Detroit to Chicago, from the funky to the hypnotic and atmospheric. Techno consumed him, as he, himself, admits, “I became totally engrossed by Techno. I loved everything about it; the feelings, the emotions that came with it.” Soundtracking his day-to-day life from then on were artists including: Juan Atkins, Derrick May, Kevin Saunderson, Jeff Mills, Underground Resistance, Richie Hawtin, Carl Craig, Robert Hood, Chris Liebing, Dave Clarke, Surgeon, Regis, Ben Sims, Speedy J, Umek, Carl Cox, Trevor Rockcliffe, Vince Watson, Paul Mac, Chris Cowie, Mauro Picotto, Marco Carola, Adam Beyer, Slam, Steve Rachmad, Joris Voorn, Smith & Selway, Ian Pooley, Damon Wild, A.Paul, Jamie Anderson, Hardcell & Grindvik, Mhonolink, Joey Beltram, The Advent, Rino Cerrone, Michael Burkat, Lars Klein, Bas Mooy, DJ Rush, Felix Krocher, Sven Wittekind, Pet Duo. This feverish consumption of music and dedication to DJing led quite naturally to his first attempts at making beats on an old computer. An ignited passion for making his own productions then saw Mark take music onto college education, gaining distinctions in First Diploma Performing Arts in Music, a National Diploma in Music Technology and a City & Guilds Diploma in Multi-track Recording and Composition. Armed with this technical knowledge and grounding in music theory, Mark continued to lay down industrial-strength slabs of Techno and began sending out demos. It was not long before he was picked up by small independent label, Hereket, managed by up-and-coming Techno producer, Ilgar Khaligov. This first EP, Boriquas was a bold statement of intent and a warning sign of what was to come in from succeeding releases. Since then he has released on Paul Mac’s Sula Muse Recordings, Chris Cowie’s Bellboy Records, Labrynth Recordings, Triple Recordings, M_Rec Digital, Static Recordings, DSNT Records and A. Paul's Naked Lunch. With a theory of producing quality over quantity central to his beliefs, no Mark Rogan production is ever the same. His characteristic wave of other-worldly, off-kilter stabs, distorted pads, bolstered by 909, bass-heavy kicks goes some way to describing his signature, uncompromising sound, but in each production there is something new to discover. His undying passion, talent and commitment as a producer and DJ sets him apart from many working in the field of Techno nowadays. 2013 will see Mark release further new material and continue to climb the ranks within the global techno community. Rod B. & Alvaro Garfunk bring you the Miami Underground Movement Technasia Biography For thirteen years Technasia has created a unique east/west fusion that moves seamlessly from the Paris club scene, to the streets of Hong Kong, to the hippest techno venues in Europe. Founded by Charles Siegling and Amil Khan in 1996, Technasia thrived as a duo for almost a dozen years. Now, Charles has gone solo, taking Technasia into 2010 as a one-man project. Unlike a Hollywood divorce, the parting between Siegling and Khan is truly amicable. Hong Kong-based Khan retired from Technasia to spend time with his young family. “You have to live this scene every single day,” says Siegling, “It’s very consuming, Amil didn’t want that anymore.” Despite the change, Siegling has always been the ‘front man’ in terms of DJing and performing live, so Technasia is as thrilling and full-bodied a live experience as ever. If anything, Siegling is even more determined to infuse every aspect of Technasia with his utter absorption in sound, the passion born of 25 years engrossed in electronic music. Born in Paris and raised in an 11th century chateau, Charles grew up listening to everything from Depeche Mode to Jimi Hendrix. His music-loving dad even introduced him to early British rave tunes. As a university student he continued his musical education the clubs of Paris listening to the likes of Derrick May and Robert Owens; and taking note of the records Laurent Garnier and DJ Deep played on their radio shows. In the mid-90s Siegling, who did a degree in film studies, went to check out the Hong Kong cinema scene. There, a mutual friend introduced him to Amil Khan and after they discovered a shared taste in electronic music, Technasia was born. They chose to base Technasia and their record label Sino in Hong Kong because there was no scene there, no record shops, no underground, no infrastructure. It was initially a battle for survival, but the location is vital to the Technasia ethos of music as communication. “Language is THE ultimate barrier,” says Siegling. He strives to overcome the barrier in his own life by picking up languages wherever he goes – he speaks Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish and Italian, among others – but ultimately he chooses to communicate through sound. “Electronic music is the greatest language of all. No words, just the vibration, the emotion and the beat.” Charles has a burning ambition to create music that transcends cultural barriers, and to captivate every audience. The proof of his success is in the list of clubs and festivals Technasia has played. Fans around the globe, from China, to Colombia, to the Czech Republic, know Technasia’s classic anthems including ‘Force’, ‘Oxide’ and ‘Evergreen’. And they know that every Technasia show takes the music to new heights. When DJing, Charles always plays on three decks, showcasing the old-fashioned arts of cutting and scratching. Live, Technasia takes audiences on an unforgettable ride. Charles literally becomes a one-man band, playing keyboards, percussion and acoustic instruments. He even sings. Anything to create irresistible energy and atmosphere. “I want my audience having fun,” explains Siegling. “Not falling asleep, or going off to the bar for a beer.” The performance aspect of Technasia is complemented by artist albums ‘Future Mix’ and ‘Popsoda’ – which are modern classics. Siegling is also an outspoken promoter of young talent, using the Sino imprint as a launch pad for talent including Joris Voorn, Renato Cohen, Steve Rachmad and young Catalan producer Dosem. He has straightforward criteria for what makes a Sino artist: talent and individuality. Charles is refreshingly direct – he has no patience for industry politics – and he seeks out musicians who have a similar strength of character and clarity of purpose. “I share my knowledge with artists who deserve a push,” says Siegling. “So when they are ready to fly, they can do it on their own.” Siegling is currently polishing the third Technasia album, due to be released mid-2010, and planning a huge tour which will take the new music to fans around the world. There is 12” single planned for spring, and fans can look forward to remixes from artists including Marc Romboy, Mauro Picotto and Renato Cohen later in the year. Right now, Siegling is in production overdrive: “My neighbours probably see me alone in the studio at 5AM, dancing my ass off!” he jokes. One thing is certain: come 2010, he won’t be dancing alone anymore. he jokes. One thing is certain: come 2010, he won’t be dancing alone anymore.
