There's only three weeks left in college football's regular season (even though the natty is over 2 months away), so let's talk about it. Roddy Jones joins Hartzell and the Lock Doc to break down a wild weekend in the ACC, including Miami's upset loss at GT and what it means for the Canes. Another close call for BYU in the Big 12 but the Cougs survive, and Colorado just keeps winning. Thanks for the memories, Iowa State, and how about 7-win Arizona State?! The SEC is dealing with a potential headache with trying to get two teams to Atlanta for their championship game, and yet Roddy still believes there's a path for a 3-loss Georgia to get into this thing. Hey everyone, just wrapped up a super engaging chat with James about the ins and outs of the design world. We dove deep into topics like why keeping secrets about pay isn't cool, how the design scene's been changing, the real headache of figuring out what to charge for your work, and the big question mark that is AI and tech shaking things up. James shared some real talk about the importance of sharing the wealth (of knowledge, that is) and staying nimble in this fast-paced industry. No More Secret Handshakes: James really isn't into the whole "hush-hush" vibe around how much designers are getting paid. It's all about lifting the curtain and getting real with each other to help everyone grow. The Times Are A-Changin': Reflecting on his own journey, James pointed out that even though there's a sea of designers out there, making it past the first few years is tougher than it looks. His advice? Keep your eyes peeled and be ready to adapt. The Pricing Puzzle: Oh boy, did we get into the nitty-gritty of pricing. James opened up about his own battles and called for a heart-to-heart within the community on how to tackle this beast. Tech and AI – Friend or Foe?: With AI and new tech on the rise, James urges us not to hit the panic button but to think about how these tools can actually give our creativity a boost. Knowledge is Power, So Share It: James is big on the idea that we've all got something to learn and something to teach. Sharing your stories and skills not only helps you but lifts up those around you too. Roll with the Punches and Keep It Real: The design game is always changing, and the best way to stay in play is to keep learning, sharing, and being genuine with each other. Whether it's a new design trend or a tech breakthrough, let's tackle it together. Brush Up on Those Skills: Not just your design skills, but get savvy with the business side of things and stay curious about the latest tech. It's all about being well-rounded and ready for whatever comes your way. Let's Talk Money: Inspired by James's openness, why not start a convo with your design buddies about pricing? It's all about finding that sweet spot where you feel good about your rates and your clients do too. Tech's Not So Scary: Instead of fearing the AI takeover, why not explore how it can make your work even cooler? There's a whole world of tools out there waiting to amp up your creative process. Give Back to the Gang: Got a story to tell or some wisdom to share? There's always someone out there who could benefit from your experience. Whether it's through a blog post, a workshop, or just a coffee catch-up, your insights could light someone else's way. So, let's keep the conversation going, share those tips and tricks, and build a design community that's all about growth, creativity, and a little bit of tech magic. Can't wait to see what we all come up with next! "Brush up Life" is a Japanese comedy about Kondo Asami, who discovers that she can go back to being a baby and relive her life after dying in an accident at 33. After experiencing five reincarnations, she gradually realizes the meaning of her rebirth and ultimately returns to her hometown to live out her days with her childhood friends. The screenwriter, BakaRhythm, uses a light touch to discuss the grand theme of life and death, outlining a world that allows us to feel such a strong emotional resonance with the characters despite being from different backgrounds. The protagonist in the story has a sense of certainty about who she is and a relaxed attitude toward conventional success. Her hometown is depicted as a utopian community opposite from our atomized society. The brilliance of this drama lies in its gentle reminder of the unreasonable way we refuse to accept that death could come at any moment in life, as well as our obsession with being extraordinary. 00:02:32 - It's a radical thing to produce a slowly-paced TV drama. 00:05:35 - "Brush up Life" did not touch on the pain points of rebirth dramas. 00:07:03 - Japan's "world" genre. 00:08:35 - Japan's "local" genre: Focusing on small places and discussing "our place." 00:09:20 - The comparison between returning to hometowns (small cities) and leaving hometowns (going to big cities or overseas). 00:11:03 - Japan's "atmosphere" genre. 00:13:00 - Reflecting on poverty issues in Japanese society. 00:15:10 - Imagining Japan as a post-scarcity society. 00:15:44 - Japan's foreign migrant workers. 00:16:35 - Japan's relative poverty issue. 00:18:25 - The connection between Japan's bubble economy and post-scarcity society. 00:19:55 - The different paths of "lying flat" and "involution." 00:21:45 - Japan's "loose" generation 00:27:30 - "Brush up Life" explores death. 00:30:25 - The Buddhist reincarnation concept in the show 00:35:40 - The comedic rhythm of "Brush up Life" 00:49:50 - The comparison of Japanese and Korean dramas in the global market 00:59:15 - Why we love Sakurai Ando. 01:02:10 - "Brush up Life" did not challenge mainstream social values. CyberPink2022 If you like our show and want to support us, please consider the following: Those Abroad:https://www.patreon.com/cyberpinkfm Those in China:https://afdian.net/@cyberpinkfm Business Inquiries Email:cyberpinkfm@gmail.com Business Inquiries WeChat: CyberPink2022
