Jack is suddenly in Mr. Peterson's class with Pacey and no one else we know for not-at-all-contrived reasons: everyone is assigned to write a poem, but Jack is the only one Mr. Peterson calls on to read it aloud. Jack is upset enough by the reading to flee the class crying, and that combined with the fact that the subject was male causes the rumor to spread with lightning speed: Jack is gay. Joey shrugs it off until Dawson urges her to ask him. Pacey can't help noting that Andie isn't being very supportive. And the next day, when Mr. Peterson isn't done victimizing Jack, Pacey gets involved, and so do his mucus membranes. After taking Jen to Bible study didn't exactly inflame her desire to see Ty again, he decides to show her there's more to him than reading scripture for fun. Tisn't nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune: duck and listen to our episode on "To Be Or Not To Be..." instead! JOIN THE AWT CLUB

We return from our brief hiatus with our most in-depth episode yet, culled from five hours of discussions recorded over a period of several months with William Paul, author of the essential critical study Ernst Lubitsch's American Comedy. We discuss Paul's friendship with frequent Lubitsch collaborator Samson Raphaelson, Raphaelson's sometimes-harsh retrospective criticism of his own work, the linguistic tics that unite Lubitsch's filmography, their methods of adapting obscure Hungarian plays, Raphaelson's recollections of Alfred Hitchcock's very different working methods, and Suspicion's shocking alternate ending. Later on, we discuss the neuroscientific mechanisms of comedy, the biological purpose of laughter, the relationship of To Be Or Not To Be and the idea of “passing”, and engage in some record-correction as to whether or not the film was as controversial as is widely believed. Edited by Brennen King and Eden Cote-Foster. We have a Discord! Today we continue our series "To Be Or Not To Be" and today's passage is like a check engine light for the soul! 1 Peter 5:8-11 (NIV) "Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 9 Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen." earlychurchofchrist.org
Today we continue our series "To Be Or Not To Be" and today's passage puts a challenge to us: Be holy as I AM holy. This seems like such a high calling (because it is!), but it's not a set up for failure, quite the opposite. God is calling us by grace to thrive in His holiness. 1 Peter 1:13–16 (NIV) 13 Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming. 14 As obedient children, do not conform to the evil desires you had when you lived in ignorance. 15 But just as he who called you is holy, so be holy in all you do; 16 for it is written: “Be holy, because I am holy.”

To Be Or Not To Be. The Christian faith has always been rooted in Jesus' call for us to leave behind the world of "doing religion" and to instead be disciples of Christ. So in this series, we'll be looking at some of the "be" challenges that God puts to us in scripture, calling us to be someone greater than a set of to-do lists. We'll kick off today with a favorite passage of mine, and one that is maybe a bit more obscure...
For me, this movie answers some important LTS questions: what did that Ernst Lubitsch guy direct besides To Be Or Not To Be? How was Herbert Marshall ever a romantic lead? And finally, where are the precodes? It’s been forever! TIP also give me the chance to introduce Kay Francis and Miriam Hopkins, the fashion-forward queen of Warner Brothers before Bette Davis, and Miss Davis’ later southern belle nemesis in several films - respectively. Trouble in Paradise is a romantic triangle comedy featuring “a gentleman thief, a (lady) pickpocket” and a fancy woman who is their mark. It’s very funny, and very risqué in the way that precode movies tend to be - could they say that in 1932? Highly recommended by your host and at least two panel regulars. Shelly Brisbin with Nathan Alderman, David J. Loehr and Randy Dotinga.

The Story of Moore StreetLast week the Moore Street Preservation Trust held an Urgent Public Meeting in Liberty Hall in Dublin to discuss the crisis surrounding the future development of the Moore St. Battlefield site and the threat posed to these historic 1916 laneways by a developer. The meeting was chaired by Christina McLoughlin who is the niece of Sean McLoughlin. He was appointed Commandant General of the Republican forces in Dublin after James Connolly was wounded. A short film by acclaimed Belfast filmmaker Sean Murray – The Story of Moore Street 1916 – and narrated by Stephen Rea was shown to very warm applause. Frank Connolly for SIPTU which supports the campaign welcomed everyone to Liberty Hall.To Be Or Not To Be.As this column goes to press it appears that the British PM Rishi Sunak and Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission have reached an Agreement on the Protocol. The so-called ‘Windsor Framework.' To add to the excitement Dame Arlene Foster is giving off because King Charles is having tea with Ursula von der Leyen – a proverbial storm in a tea cup. The next few days - or longer - will see how the new Agreement goes down particularly among the Brexiteers here in the North. Remember the majority of people here voted against Brexit. Watch this space. Remembering Wounded KneeOn 27 February 1973 several hundred Native Americans of the Oglala Lakota people occupied Wounded Knee in South Dakota in a move intended to highlight their demand for sovereign rights. The stand-off between the Native American people and federal authorities lasted 71 days and involved daily fire-fights. Two Native Americans were killed.Horror in Palestine and the MediterraneanIsraeli settlers danced in the street as they burned 75 Palestinian homes and killed a Palestinian man in Huwara. The plight of the people of Palestine gets worse day by day. It is an international disgrace that this is allowed to continue. Apartheid Israel is evil and inhumane. The international community must defend international law, condemn such human rights abuses and stand up for the rights of people.

We have a big name walking down to the beach, and no it's not (fill in the blank)... it's Victoria Fuller! Paradise is starting to heat up and Fuller is here to turn up the thermostat. Ivan & Demar discuss Fuller's one on one with Justin, and her drift to Johnny. Meanwhile, Shanae & Logan ("Shogan") are finding a romantic connection. Genevieve and Justin are slowly disconnecting, and Aaron + James are (despite the bromance) inspecting potential love interests. And yes, Aaron and James (Season 7 BIP) are back on the beach FYI, it's getting a bit messy. Lastly, the fellas finish off the recap with a Teddi & Andrew segment. We'll call it, 'To Be Or Not To Be'. Teddi decided not to be, and Andrew decided to be hurt, and rightfully so. She left without saying goodbye. Sometimes it's like that, the vibes aren't vibing. A love triangle is forming and the cast is currently giving us free content via social media, let's discuss!IG: @TheVibePodIvan and Demar: @IvanBHall @DemarJacksonPlease subscribe and leave a review!
