In today's episode, I am chatting with Bryan Mitchell. Bryan is an award-winning author of epic fantasies living in Archdale, NC. His writing is inspired by his Christian faith, and is filled with relevant themes that can be identified in today's society even though they are written into fantastical worlds. He is the author of Infernal Fall and Almost Paradise, which just released on October 24th, 2023.
EPISODE 282 - Bryan Mitchell - Stay on the Path, Avoid the Shiny Things And The Root of The ProblemThe hardest thing I've ever done is share a piece of my soul with others. It makes me feel vulnerable. Like a thief who just got spotted by the police with his pants down. Can't run away now. Gotta face whatever judgement awaits. That's how I feel when I share my stories. I cringe like a baby tasting a lemon and look at the reader all weird, hoping they want more. While I cringe, eye twitching, neck straining, there's one thing that holds me together and that is the truth. Like me. Love me. Hate me. It's not my decision. The important thing is the olive branch that I've extended. I'm trying to connect with you and honored you're making the effort to hear me out. This is what story telling is. It's who we are. It's how we connect and grow together. If you happen to look up at me while reading and see a ghastly face trembling like Hulk Hogan waking up from a bearhug, just know, I'm happy you gave me the opportunity, pal, and I encourage you to pass along the olive branch to others in your life because we all need to make ourselves vulnerable to be real. We've all written terrible prose. We've all fallen short of Shakespeare. Forgive yourself and others for those wordy sentences and write the good write. Sorry, I can't end with that. Let's simmer it down a little. I have a short story you can read for free if you sign up for my newsletter. It is called No Place Like Home. My debut novel, Infernal Fall, will be out in October of 2022. All subscribers will get updates on that and more. Hope you stick around. This week we're talking with Bryan Mitchell on all things intergenerational wealth transfer, and looking particularly at the question of whether a gift or a loan is the best way to pass wealth on to the next generation whilst you are still alive. Structuring the transfer of wealth as a loan might provide some level of asset protection in the event of a future divorce, but Bryan explains what is needed for such an arrangement to stand up in court. In episode 87, host Will Kollmeyer welcomes not one but two members of the Division of Fine Arts to the podcast. In the first segment of this TigerTalk podcast, director of Campus Country Chris Dunn stops in to talk about the group's first Showtime of the year on Thursday, October 3 in the Seth Pounds Auditorium. Dunn introduces listeners to the 23-song setlist for the initial Showtime as well as talks about where the title track for the Showtime "The House that Built Me," comes from and how it felt to know that the title track was named "Song of the Decade," by the Academy of Country Music after the group had already chosen it for the title track. Dunn also introduces fans to a couple of the new band members -- including a steel guitar player and also a brother-sister combo that has decided to both be part of Campus Country. In the second half of the podcast, director of bands Bryan Mitchell gives listeners insight into the 37th annual Northeast Regional Marching Band Championships that will happen at Tiger Stadium on Saturday, October 5. Over 20 schools are slated to perform in either the Ratings or Caption portion of the competition with the winner walking away with a huge six-foot trophy. Mitchell also talks about what the Showband from Tigerland has been up to during the marching season including the Battle of the Bands with Itawamba Community College last Thursday night and preparing the nearly 300-person marching band for parade season in just a few weeks. Between the segments, Kollmeyer gives a rundown of events that are happening in the next 10 days and also mentions a few events to be on the lookout for later in the month. We review some of the past week's news: Kaz Makita sent down (he's already back up) Bryan Mitchell has been banished (to the pen) We are really bad (it's okay) We take a look at some of the top prospects in this year's draft since it's more fun than talking about the no-hitter I screwed up editing so there's a long pause between the intro and the intro music. I would go back and change it, but... Musical Credit: Podington Bear - Good Times

Host Adam Burke had a whole lot of baseball betting information ready for you on today's edition of The Bettor's Box. BangTheBook.com's MLB betting podcast is the most informative and detailed show in the industry about betting on the bases and he was dialed in with what you need to know in order to beat up the books this week. Today's edition also included the Monday Mailbag with your listener questions about pitcher splits, stolen bases, exit velocity, and resources to use for learning. We went Beyond the Box Score with the Red Sox vs. Athletics, Phillies vs. Pirates, Mariners vs. Rangers, and talked about exit velocity and performance with runners in scoring position. Adam highlighted line moves in the Down the Lines segment and gave a pick for Monday night. The Twins vs. Yankees, Diamondbacks vs. Phillies, and Mets vs. Cardinals caught Adam's eye as series to look at for the upcoming week. Forgive the Bryan Mitchell note at the end, as he BATS left-handed, but throws right-handed. Judging by his numbers, he should try throwing left-handed.
