Christine was a public school teacher for ten years after she graduated from college. As her faith grew and her priorities changed, she decided to stay home with her kids. What she didn't know was a colleague of hers all those years ago was a quiet, but faithful Christian. As the culture became more charged and maintaining order in the classroom became more challenging, Lowell Messer knew his love of teaching was still in tact. But his love of teaching in a public school was gone. Today, Lowell is here to discuss why he left public school and became a teacher and leader in a Christian school and gives advice to every teacher who might consider doing the same.Follow Making the Leap on Facebook, Instagram, X, and YouTube. Christian teachers not welcome. That is what one Arizona school board member says should no longer be allowed, simply because she does not like their values.

I. Christian teachers need to be reminded to keep the main thing the main thing, v14a. II. Christian teachers are not to quarrel about words, v14b. III. And Christian teachers must work hard to rightly handle God's Word, v15.
Some subjects are more important than others. No amount of discussing the best color to paint a room is likely to endanger the souls of anyone participating in the discussion or just listening to it, but the same cannot be said of discussion of doctrine and theology. When we handle the things of God, we are duty bound to be careful, to be clear, and to be true. Needless wrangling over terms and technicalities seldom benefits and often harms. But avoid foolish controversies, genealogies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless. As for a person who stirs up division, after warning him once and then twice, have nothing more to do with him, knowing that such a person is warped and sinful; he is self-condemned. However, as Christians, we do have a duty to speak of God and His truth. In almost all cases, simple is best. Speak the truth, in season and out. And, of course, know when to hold your tongue. Let a fool hold his tongue and he will pass for a sage. Subscribe to the podcast here. The title for this week's devotional and message is taken from John MacArthur's excellent study in Jude on the passages that we will be looking at this morning. These passages paint for us a picture of an apostate, be it in the first century or on November 20th, 2022. The apostle Paul wrote to Timothy, “Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;” (1 Timothy 4:1). When Paul met with the elders from Ephesus, he tearfully said, “For I know this, that after my departing shall grievous wolves enter in among you, not sparing the flock. Also of your own selves shall men arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them. Therefore watch, and remember, that by the space of three years I ceased not to warn every one night and day with tears.” (Acts 20:29-31) The Lord Jesus Himself declared in His Olivet discourse that “false Christs and false prophets shall rise, and shall show signs and wonders, to seduce, if it were possible, even the elect.” (Mark 13:22) Jude is declaring to the church that the time of great deception and apostasy that was foretold has come, and that the church is called to “earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints.” (Jude 3) As I mentioned a moment ago, one of the signs that we are living in the last days is that some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils. That is certainly true today. The Spirit of God speaking through Jude takes the mask off of those who claim to be “Christian Teachers and Leaders” and exposes them for what they truly are. The personal characteristics of these religious frauds are the same today, beloved. They are wolves among sheep, tares among wheat, frauds among faithful. May The Spirit of God open our ears to hear the truth, and may that truth reveal to us any individual whose life and theology fits the portrait of an apostate, including the person in the mirror. We discuss the ministry of Christian bikers across the USA reaching the lost, sharing the gospel, planting and watering seeds. We talk about the gospel, the power of God unto salvation. David also shares news stories on the cultural battles over gender ideology. Daily podcast, relevant articles on issues pertaining to Christians and more can be found on Stand Up For The Truth.
We may not exactly consider teachers to be leaders - but they certainly are. We discuss teachers as "tour guides" and "coaches" who lead students academically and spiritually. We compare the mental models of classroom management, which focuses on detail-oriented task-completion, to classroom leadership, which focuses on empowerment and a grander vision.
Teachers and administrators impact the formation of students, so it is necessary to think about how even teachers and administrators are formed. We discuss the various aspects of teaching and administrating that can form (or deform) us. We consider how daily habits, words, and thoughts can positively or negatively impact the kind of people we become and culture of our schools.

Christians who work in public schools are terrified of speaking up about their beliefs. They worry that if they say the wrong thing, it will cause backlash or even cost them their job, so many choose to say nothing at all. But in reality, not only is it acceptable for Christians to talk about their faith at school, in some cases it is required by the curriculum! — provided that they follow the proper guidelines for HOW to discuss it. This week I talked to Eric Buehrer of Gateways To Better Education, an organization that equips public school educators, leaders, parents and students to protect and promote religious and academic freedom regarding the Bible and Christianity. We were also joined by my friend John Neill, a public school teacher who makes a point of living out his Christian faith on the job. We discuss what to do and what not to do in terms of discussing religion in public schools. You won't believe what is possible! All we need is for Christians to become aware of their rights, so they can, as John puts it, “go the speed limit.” You can learn more about Gateways To Better Education at GoGateways.org. This episode first aired on Jan. 21, 2021 Educate For Life with Kevin Conover airs Sundays 10-11pm. Listen live on KPRZ.com and San Diego radio AM 1210. Many educators and teachers today know about teacher unions and where their money goes. Christian teachers are looking for alternatives so their money is not going towards liberal causes like abortion. Executive Director David Schmus of Christian Educators Association International will join the podcast and give information about how they offer better protection at a lower cost. Join the class for Episode #6 where Guest David Schmus the Executive Director of the Christian Educators Association gives details about why CEAI is far better than NEA If you are a teacher or educator who is tired of seeing your money going towards liberal causes and candidates, this podcast is for you!Christian Educators Association Executive Director David SchmusMr. David Schmus will begin by giving you ideas of all of the support that the Christian Educator Association can offer. By leaving NEA teachers can stop their money from going to leftist causes, Planned Parenthood, supporting radical “SeXXX-ed”, transgender theory, BLM/Critical Race Theory, 99% of funding to Democrats, etc., CEAI much less expensive, better protections and liability insurance, support from a Biblical worldview. The cost to be a member of CEAI is about half the cost of my home state’s organization, and I do not have to worry about my money going towards these causes.I ask Mr. Schmus about the misinformation about teachers having to join a state union. According to Mr. Schmus, Janus v. AFSCME held that teachers do not have to join. Thanks to the work of the Christian Educators Association and their history as co-plaintiff on Friedrichs case, teachers can join anything they want, or not join. This was a major win for educators in some states due to the fact they had to pay even if they were not a member of their state’s teacher union. Teachers should have the liberty to choose where their money goes, not be mandated to pay by a union who supports causes they do not.I also asked Mr. Schmus what the Christian Educators Association’s response to COVID-19 was. He responded that unions are using irresponsible scare tactics and threats to keep teachers out of schools. This is holding our students’ education hostage and exacerbating mental health and developmental problems. As a result, many parents find other options, resulting in fewer students in public schools and the loss of jobs unions are supposed to protect. While CEAI certainly supports our members with medical issues, helps them navigate getting medical accommodations, etc., we encourage teachers to have courage like other essential workers who keep our stores, hospitals, restaurants, and economy open. Education is essential, and we are called by God to be educators loving our students. COVID doesn’t seem to spread rapidly or with significant consequences among school populations.Important links for Christian Educators AssociationCEAICEAI information on UnionsCEAI Facebook PageCEAI video about COVID-19More Interesting Podcast like Christian Educators AssociationNEA Political Contributions to Joe, Kamala, and other Far-Left DemocratsConservative Educator PodcastPodcast 185: Trump Signs Executive Orders After Coronavirus Relief TalksArticle I of the Constitution & Congresswoman-Elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez

Part 1: Chris Plante from the Family Policy Institute highlights a new movement in Washington State that has taken on "Christain Social Justice" - a movement by Christians to put God first in policy making as well as charity work. For this grassroots movement, evangelism comes first and the goal is to transform the term "social justice" into a word that holds new meaning within a true, uncompromising Biblical worldview. Family Policy Institute is leading the way by getting involved with policy making in Washington state and making sure that politicians protect religious freedom and uphold the rights of Christians. It’s not easy being a teacher—which explains why a lot of them are quitting! A recent article from The Atlantic examines some of the challenges that teachers face: from long hours of overtime, to less than average pay, to having to buy missing supplies with their own money, to overwhelming stress verging on nervous breakdowns. Hard to imagine why not enough young people are choosing or sticking with a teaching career anymore! And teachers who are Christians have one more thing to worry about: potential law suits they might face by showing any indication of their personal faith at school. Fortunately, there are a variety of perfectly legal ways that Christians, whether teacher or student, can live out their faith at school. Sadly, many Christians are simply not aware of these rights and have been silenced by fear. To help solve this problem, Jennifer Kvalvik created the Apples for Teachers ministry at the Rock Church in Point Loma. Kevin talks to Jennifer, Janel and Camilo about their experiences as Christians who have worked in San Diego public schools for many years. Jennifer explains what her ministry does, as well as sharing some excellent resources for Christian teachers (such as Christian Teachers in Public Schools by Julia and Gloria Stronks). This ministry meets once a month as a support group for Christian teachers to mutually encourage one another. Learn more and get involved by visiting SDRock.com/ministries/ApplesForTeachers! And even if you are not a teacher, you can assist them in their current service project by donating small school supplies that will go to Syrian refugees. This episode first aired on August 13th, 2016. We make video lessons to raise up confident Christians: https://educateforlife.org/
His own coach inspired him to become a coach. Little did he know how much this position was going to give him such a great place of influence in shaping the lives of young people. In this interview with Larry Linenschmidt on Hill Country Institute Live: Exploring Christ & Culture, Nathan explains how teachers/coaches are can be a significant shaper in the destiny of a young person. Realizing the place of influence they have, teachers/coaches have the opportunity to steer young lives toward hope and meaning from a very early age.
At nine years old, McNeilly Hays lost her father. In the midst of this lonely, scary time, her 3rd grade teacher, Ms. Nicole Haggard Morales, took a risk and shared with McNeilly about the Heavenly Father whose love for her would never fail. In this interview with Larry Linenschmidt on Hill Country Institute Live, McNeilly and Nicole share the story and how it impacted both of their lives.
Linda Kardamis of Ohio has the heart of a teacher and a heart for teachers. Currently staying home to teach her young son, Linda has been a classroom teacher for many years. Her desire to encourage teachers and to encourage and equip fellow teachers and parents so they can impact the next generation led her to start "Teach4theHeart", a blog and website loaded with resources for teachers.
Teachers can alter the paths of our lives. They can set the tone of hope or lack of meaning from an early age. Listen to this interview with a teacher and her former student who encountered the supernatural power of God's love to transform a life. A young student teacher meets her match in a fourth grade, unruly student, but she chose to love him with God's love and call him to a higher place. Today, the young boy has grown into a man who, after navigating through years of darkness, has come into the light of Jesus Christ and is now ministering to adults and youth in partnership with his former teacher.
In this edition of Radical Grace Radio, Pastor Gary Held talks about how the idea of Christians being at war is misused by some Christians, for instance, how the idea of us being Christian Soldiers fighting against the culture is bolstered by the misapplication of certain Scripture. We also begin what we hope will be a weekly segment, "You have heard it said", where we take some statements of popular teaching of Christian Teachers today, and do what Jesus did with them on the sermon on the mount. This week it's Pastor Michael Youssef and what he believes is the Gospel, and how "if you believe with all your heart, God can do great things".
