What is the joy in teaching at a Lutheran High School? Rev. Joe Cox, head of Academics at Lutheran High School South in St. Louis, MO, joins Andy and Sarah for our Set Apart to Serve series to talk about his journey to the seminary and into the teaching vocation, what gives him joy as a Lutheran high school teacher, the relationships he builds with students as a part of their formation as young adults, how he and other school leadership work with parents in the formation journey, and his favorite lessons to teach students.  Christ's church will continue until He returns, and that church will continue to need church workers. Set Apart to Serve (SAS) is an initiative of the LCMS to recruit church workers. Together, we pray for workers for the Kingdom of God and encourage children to consider church work vocations. Here are three easy ways you can participate in SAS: 1. Pray with your children for God to provide church workers. 2. Talk to your children about becoming church workers. 3. Thank God for the people who work in your congregation. To learn more about Set Apart to Serve, visit lcms.org/set-apart-to-serve. Have a topic you'd like to hear about on The Coffee Hour? Today's Locked on Ole Miss podcast we talk about the importance of Nick Saban on this Ole Miss Rebels football team for Lane Kiffin.  It is a team with Jaxson Dart and Walter Nolen that will have plenty of expectations and Kiffin is leaning on his Saban lessons and building up those points with assistant coaches that have Alabama and Nick Saban backgrounds.  Wes Neighbors, Pete Golding and Joe Cox join Lane Kiffin as on the field coaches with an Alabama Crimson Tide background but Charlie Weis Jr and William Vlachos also spent time in that building. In the second segment of the show we talk Cayden Lee as the WR Story of spring practice so far and he is someone that has gotten the upperclassmen attention and new WR coach George McDonald is even starting to move this guy around on the field.  This is impressive for a guy that is competing with Tre Harris, Jordan Watkins and Ayden Williams and Juice Wells and Deion Smith will be coming soon. In our final segment of the day we talk about College Football 2.0 and whether or not you like it it appears to be here and the Rise of Personnel departments will be the next wave of college football and Ole Miss Rebels just hired a Personnel guy with 20 years NFL experience with the San Francisco 49ers and St Louis Rams to their personnel department that is becoming quite varied.   WANT MORE OLE MISS SPORTS CONTENT?  Join our Subtext communityhttps://joinsubtext.com/lockedonolemiss  Follow and Subscribe to the Podcast on these platforms:

The Rev. Joe Cox, Director of Curriculum and Education at Lutheran High School South, St. Louis, MO, joins the Rev. Dr. Phil Booe to study Acts 11:19-26. In the aftermath of persecution, a ripple of faith unfurls across the lands, transforming the city of Antioch into a beacon of hope. From these scattered seeds of belief, a new wave of Christianity takes root, penetrating the hearts of both Jew and Gentile alike. Amidst this divine awakening, Barnabas, a beacon of encouragement, fans the flame of faith, and the city thrives as a stronghold of new believers. In Antioch, the disciples were first called Christians. The Book of Acts takes us back to the earliest days of Christianity, unveiling the incredible acts of the apostles and the growth of the early church. Acts offers a firsthand account how the Apostles and Jesus' disciples respond to his death and resurrection. It makes us witnesses to the beginning of fulfilling Jesus's command to spread the Gospel from Jerusalem to the ends of the earth. We encounter miracles and wonders, we see the church struggling to organize itself in the absence of Jesus, and we learn of the trials and tribulations the early Christians faced in a world that rejected them.

The August mix in recent years (excluding Covid) has become the Suncebeat mix as it's the first mix after the festival.  This year marked the last time Suncebeat will be held in Croatia, or the Tisno Gardens at least.  It was the fourteenth event which is incredible and shows the quality of the week long soulful house spectacular. It was the quietest in terms of numbers that I've been to and this was my fifth one.  What that meant though was the DJ/Punter ratio was awesome.  Seemed everywhere you looked legends of the scene were connecting with everyone and were really accessible. The highlights for me included meeting Martin Atjazz and Osunlade (both whom had a huge influence on the c2eMusic sound over the years), grabbing a picture with Osunlade, Spen and Rich Medina, catching up with The Journeymen, Joe Cox and Andy Ward and connecting with Danny T.  I was also encouraged to see the youngsters representing, having met the Coughlan Brothers, Ryan and Jay, as well as Noah Herel (yes Ronnie's son) on the Deep Into Soul boat party.I was lucky enough to then catch Noah put down a killer set for Mi-Soul later that night alongside his very proud dad.  The pair smashed it with Noah only having a few months of DJing under his belt!  Kenny Dope smashed it at the Olive Grove for Terry Hunter's Chosen Few night.  It's funny I was always a Louie fan growing up, but more recently Kenny has blown me away everytime I've heard him.  I think it says more about my own personal musical journey moving from the more soulful to a deeper more twisted sound.  Not to be outdone, Spen put on his own night of magic at the Olive Grove with Dawn Tallman and Aaron K providing a performance to remember together at the end of the night.  It was one of those "I was there" moments that you knew was special as it unfolded in front of you.Biggest surprise were Analog Soul out of NY, playing on the Beach Stage on Friday night. I'd never come across them before but there set was amazing.  The flow was great, but their tune selection was second to none, at least for my taste and preference anyway.  They certainly found a new fan right here.Back to the mix and I have to say it doesn't sound like a regular c2eMusic mix.  It's very laid back and chill for the most part.  I was worried it might not have enough energy but I can't sit still listening to it.  It has a very grown up mature feel to it which feels alien to me (I am after all just a big 48 year old man-child in many ways).I initially wasn't going to release this mix, some of the transitions aren't quite what I'd have liked and I couldn't find a track to end on that brings us back down safely!  However, after listening through a couple of times it feels wrong to hold it back when the tunes themselves are cool af. Tracklisting:1: Atjazz - Wutchbender2: Jimpster, Rich Medina - This Thing (Vocal Mix)3: Glass Slipper - Unification Vibration (Atjazz Main Mix)4: Donnie, Kai Alce - Olmec Save Us (Yoruba Soul Mix)5: Kx9000 - Sub Fatima6: Franck Roger - Les Emotions7: AirBorn Gav, Hurricane - Work (Atjazz Extended Mix)8: Dan Tenor-City, Tom Funk, RICOH - Close To The Source (Art of Tones Remix)9: Timothee Milton - I MIss Your Love (Rocco Rodamaal Underground Mix)10: Crackazat - Freddies Groove11: Jon Dixon, Kasan Belgrave - On My Own ft Moodymann12: Tuccillo - The Waves13: Col Lawton - I'm Not Rushing (Original Vocal Mix)14: 2Sleep - I Feel The Same15: Flabaire - The Bee's Boos16: Folkness - Fly High17: Criss Korey - One For Change18: Soledrifter - Love Is Here19: Lalo Leyy - Deeper20: Folkness - Fly High21: Greg Paulus, Terry Bence, Big-exy - Marino22: Clu Polar - Signals (Audiojack Remix)23: Shortcut - Raw Meat24: Kink - Existence25: Mark Henning - TrojanEnjoy!

In this episode, Joe Cox and Jack Mitchell from Mitchell Stores join the show to talk about their business model: hugging your customers. They use this metaphor to describe the feeling of family they have with their customers and clients. Jack talks about the values that have shaped the business since it began and shares some wonderful success stories of their employees' dedication to the highest level of service for their customers.   Key Takeaways: “Hugging” your customers started with their parents back in 1958. The idea grew out of their desire to treat their customers like their friends; it is about not only the service but the atmosphere of being welcomed into their home as well. The values they've built their philosophy on are: customers, relationships, data, and excellence. The customers should be the center of the universe; their business is built on personalizing the relationship with every customer that comes into their stores. Jack shares some of the ways they are raising service standards, including keeping track of personal events they may need clothing for, keeping a record of items they've purchased previously, and being honest about how something looks, rather than just taking the sale. Part of their unparalleled service is having a standard of customer care across all of their stores. Joe Cox provides seminars to sales representatives, and Jack is always looking for ways to highlight these personal success stories. One of their values is to actually have fun, and helping someone out in these service situations is fun for the employees. To get in touch with Jack for speaking or to get copies of his books, you can email him jackm@mitchells.com or give him a call: (203) 984-7894. The hug culture is a genuine approach because they love their customers. If all businesses could do this, the world might be a better place to shop. If we could do this with everything we do, the world would be a better place to live.   External Links:   Maintenance-one.com Mitchell Stores Hug Your Customers Hug Your People Selling the Hug Your Customer Way
