So join us as we go back to 1986 when machines turned on their makers, forcing Emilio Estevez, under the direction of Stephen King, to fight back and show those machines who made who.Do You Remember Liking This Movie?

One of the best decisions I ever made was to attend the TCM Classic Film Festival and I've done that for several years. There are thousandsof movie fans who feel the same way. This one-of-a-kind event is as much about the community it draws as it is its films, panels, guests, and welcoming TCM hosts. I have spent many hours at the festival with my guests Aurora Bugallo, who writes the Once Upon A Screen blog and who is active on social media as CitizenScreen and Karen Burroughs Hannsberry who writes the Shadows and Satin blog, iseditor of the bi-monthly film noir publication the Dark Pages Newsletter and is author of Femme Noir: Bad Girls of Film and Bad Boys: The Actors of Film Noir.We had a lot of laughs and even got a bit emotional reminiscing about the manyways our days together in Hollywood were memorable, heartwarming, and even lifechanging.More about Aurora:https://citizenscreen.tumblr.com/https://www.instagram.com/citizenscreenhttps://aurorasginjoint.com/(Once Upon a Screen) More about Karen:https://shadowsandsatin.wordpress.com/https://www.allthatnoir.com/ Maureen O'Hara at TCMFF 2014:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3b30uO1dHjo&list=PLA2C9D52AB7280FC5&index=15

Marc and Kim dive into a lively and offbeat segment mixing classic movie nostalgia with serious baseball talk. They debate whether Tombstone is a love story while riffing on iconic Wyatt Earp quotes, using it as a metaphor for Trump's tough tariff negotiations. The conversation shifts to the St. Louis Cardinals' disappointing season and impending trade deadline moves. With guest Tom Ackerman, they break down potential trades, reliever Ryan Helsley's status, and the need for the Cardinals to rebuild with young talent. The segment closes on a lighter note, with talk of The Sopranos and TV show recommendations, blending culture with sports and politics for a well-rounded morning show vibe.

In this episode of Challenge Accepted, Thomas and Frank celebrate the 50th anniversary of Steven Spielberg's iconic film Jaws. They revisit the movie that redefined the summer blockbuster, breaking down everything from unforgettable performances to behind-the-scenes innovations. The conversation explores the film's themes of fear, fatherhood, trauma, and nature vs. man, while also highlighting Spielberg's genius in turning technical failures into cinematic gold. Plus, a compelling fan theory about Chief Brody adds a whole new layer to the film. Timestamps and Topics: 00:00:00 Intro and first impressions 00:01:26 Classic vs. modern filmmaking 00:02:25 Town politics and Amity Island's denial 00:04:07 First deaths and the shift in tone 00:06:06 Brody's arc from outsider to hero 00:08:07 Quint's monologue and character intro 00:09:34 Jaws as a modern Moby Dick 00:12:01 Spielberg's camera work and blocking 00:14:48 Underwater filming innovations 00:17:10 Hooper and Quint's relationship 00:19:56 Fan theory: Is Brody a recovering alcoholic? 00:24:08 Best blocking scene: Hooper and Brody confront the mayor 00:25:11 The shark reveal and building tension 00:28:24 “You're gonna need a bigger boat” moment 00:30:09 Quint's final scene and the fear switch 00:35:02 Nature vs. man and Cold War commentary 00:38:48 Why practical effects still matter 00:39:56 John Williams' score as emotional storytelling 00:41:11 Fatherhood and generational connection through film Key Takeaways: Jaws successfully merges suspense and horror with character-driven storytelling Spielberg's limitations with the shark led to creative cinematography that enhanced the suspense The film's characters each represent a different relationship to fear and control Quint's monologue remains one of the most powerful moments in cinema Viewing Brody through the lens of a recovering alcoholic reframes the entire story Themes of misinformation, fear-driven decisions, and human error are still relevant today Quotes: “You're gonna need a bigger boat.” “That was the last time I felt fear. I was waiting for my turn.” “The shark isn't the villain. It's nature doing what it does. The villain is fear and denial.” “It's not about killing the shark. We're going to make you a podcast you can't refuse. On this special 2-Part Season Finale for the Film Nerds, BK & Jack jump deep into the heart of what is perhaps the most iconic American film of all time: a story about gangsters, families, and a cannolis. In Part 2, the chaos continues, as we discuss how the casting of the film became another war between principals, how the shoot itself nearly derailed the film, and how even after its release, the film courted controversy. The cap to an incredible discussion of a legendary film!
CATCHING UP BEFORE THE LIVE ACTION REBOOT!! How to Train Your Dragon Full Reaction Watch Along: / thereelrejects With Dreamworks' Live Action Reimagining just around the corner, Aaron & John take to the skies for their How to Train Your Dragon Reaction, Recap, Commentary, Analysis, & Spoiler Review!! Visit https://www.liquidiv.com & use Promo Code: REJECTS to get 20% off your first order. Join Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey as they set sail for Viking shores in DreamWorks Animation's How to Train Your Dragon (2010). In a world where fearsome dragons terrorize the island of Berk, misfit teen Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III (Jay Baruchel, Entourage, This Is the End) struggles to prove himself as a true Viking warrior. When Hiccup captures the elusive Night Fury—only to form an unexpected friendship—he challenges his tribe's age-old beliefs under the watchful eye of dragon-fearing chieftain Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, 300, Olympus Has Fallen). The film's standout cast includes America Ferrera (broadcast star of Ugly Betty and voice of Astrid Hofferson), who brings fierce determination to Hiccup's bold love interest; Craig Ferguson (late-night icon on The Late Late Show and voice of Gobber the Belch), providing rugged humor and mentorship; Christopher Mintz-Plasse (breakout in Kick-Ass, Role Models) as Fishlegs Ingerman, the encyclopedic dragon expert; Jonah Hill (Superbad, 21 Jump Street) as brash Snotlout Jorgenson; and Kristen Wiig (Bridesmaids, Saturday Night Live) lending her wild comedic flair to Ruffnut Thorston, one half of Berk's most chaotic dragon-riding duo. Aaron & John break down every epic moment—from Hiccup's heart-pounding first flight aboard the Night Fury to the breathtaking “Test Drive” sequence where dragon and rider fly in perfect harmony, and the cliffhanger Night Terror attack that cements the bond between Hiccup and Toothless. Don't miss their take on the emotional dragon-rescue montage, the iconic “Song of the Hollow” final battle that unites Vikings and dragons, and the tear-jerking moment when Stoick finally recognizes his son's true heroism.
