We are back for 2024, so come and join us as we cover the major news happening around the world, with our theme this year on misinformation and disinformation, the number one issue in the World Economic Forum's Global Risk Report, and with 49% of the world's population going to the polls this year, it is critical we all learn how to navigate this risk. There is a lot more going on, from the latest Taylor Swift shenanigans to the war in Gaza, the growing risks of the Houthi's actions in the Red Sea, extreme weather events, farmers blocking cities and towns across Europe, the ICJ ruling on whether Israel is guilty of genocide. This event was quickly followed by the announcement that UNRWA had members involved in the October 7th attack, resulting in countries all over the world announcing they would stop funding until a thorough investigation happens. With the Palestinians now forced to eat grass and drink polluted water, the situation couldn't be worse. And that's just a flavour of what we will discuss, so do come and join us and you'll be up to date with all the major news happening in our world. Embark on a journey to unearth the true crisis that plagues our society—it's not the outward issues like climate change or the pandemic, but the inner turmoil that wracks the human heart. As the digital age ensnares the youth with its mesmerizing glow, I emphasize the crucial need to break free and forge a connection that's been long neglected—the one with the Divine...and how the pursuit of truth and love leads us back to our spiritual roots. It's a reminder of the compass that has guided humanity through the ages towards a profound understanding of our individual and collective identities. Step in and fight the battle with us to protect "Stolen Childhood Innocence" and give children a chance! An insightful article was published in Foreign Policy, titled ‘Will Brazil Destroy the Amazon to Save the Climate?' (Link below). It's a compelling read, looking into the untapped reserves of precious metals which, unfortunately, are waiting to be plundered beneath the Amazon Rainforest. The focus of the article is, if we want to build our renewable energy future and move away from fossil fuels, we will need these precious metals. However, at what cost? The World Bank estimates we will need three billion tons of critical strategic minerals by 2050 to feed global demand, and currently, Brazil is not even a major player in this sector. Will that change? And if it does, what does it mean for the Amazon Rainforest and the Indigenous communities that rely on its bounty? What does it mean for the world? However, an interesting part of the article discusses the mining companies and investors understanding that they must work to ensure nature and indigenous groups thrive, while also mining for these metals. Is it greenwashing? Or can we put cynicism aside and see we are finally turning a corner? Join the discussion. We are delighted to welcome Guan Hin Tay, who is the creative chairman at BBDO Singapore and president of the Asia Professional Speakers Singapore (APSS). A creative genius and a wonderful human being, we are so happy Guan said yes to joining in our conversation. It appears that we are not doing enough so should we just give up.Some countries won't play, others make empty promises.I try to do my bit but nobody else does so what is the point? It won't make much difference to me - I'm old it's someone else's problem. The kids talk all about doing this and that, but they still use loads of power on their phones and computers wasting more than they are saving. The world is going to pot and I can't do anything about it.Little differences make a big change everyone needs to do their bit but what is the incentive - climate change is happening but it won't happen to meIf I had been better would my house still have got/ hit by a tornado, burnt out, flooded. These are just some of the questions and statements made by people in the wake of climate change.

The Agriculture Fairness Alliance is looking for 43 champions who could literally save the world from an environmental apocalypse. AFA sends lobbyists into the halls of Congress to educate members of Congress, U.S. senators, and their staff, about the reality of animal agriculture's devastating impact on the climate, human health, world hunger, habitat destruction, wildlife extinction, and pollution… and the connection between animal abuse and pandemics. But, these lobbyists need funding! Currently, agriculturefairnessalliance.org has ONE lobbyist doing an amazing job and getting a great reception. But, more are needed to counter the influence of the meat/dairy/pharmaceutical industrial complex. Time is of the essence. Right now, the government is deciding how to cope with climate change. Animal agriculture is a blind spot that we ignore at own peril. Vegans, animal lovers and environmentalists are being called on to pitch in, so AFA can hire more lobbyists. AFA is looking for people to give monthly to support the monthly paycheck of their lobbyists. Champions will get regular zoom updates from the lobbyists themselves and answer questions. In this Voice America Radio discussion, AFA's Laura Reese talks to JaneUnChained.com's Jane Velez-Mitchell about this exciting opportunity. Dr. Eric Topol, one of our country’s leading visionaries in the field of medicine, has a fascinating way of looking at this problem. Even though some experts on this show have talked about digital technology as a threat to our privacy, to our ability to relate, and in some cases even to our health, Dr. Topol tells us how machines can actually make a visit to the doctor more personal. Every Saturday night for 11 years, Carol Burnett communicated a sense of family to the entire country. She worked alongside other skilled comic actors. But it wasn’t just skill. There was always a sense of community among the actors and we in the audience felt we were invited in as part of the gang. It was fall-down-funny, belly laugh humor that new generations are still discovering. And they are still reacting to the warmth, still feeling that sense of family. Alan Alda wondered how she did it. In this endearing episode Alan and Carol talk about her life of comedy, characters, and connection. Support the show.
