In this episode of Turf Today, we sit down with Andrew Lewandowski, a Golf Course Superintendent whose journey in turf began at Oldham County Country Club in Louisville, Kentucky and led him through The Ohio State University's turfgrass program and into different roles before becoming Superintendent at Cherry Blossom CC.   Andrew shares stories from his career, including volunteering at the 2024 PGA Championship at Valhalla and the 2025 ISCO Championship at Hurstbourne. We discuss the value of education, career development, and how completing the GCSAA Assistant Superintendent Certificate Program helped shape his path in the industry.   The conversation also dives into one of Andrew's biggest passions: why every golf course should have a turf nursery or turf plot. Drawing from his own experience and a recent article he published with GCM, Andrew explains how these programs can save money, improve course conditions, and give superintendents greater flexibility when managing their properties.   Of course, no Turf Today episode would be complete without a few laughs. Andrew shares some unforgettable stories from his early days in the industry, including getting launched into the air by a tarp on a windy day and taking an unexpected slide down an icy fairway hill.   From career advice and professional development to practical agronomic insights and memorable turf stories, this episode has something for every superintendent, assistant superintendent, equipment manager, and turfgrass professional.   A big thank you to Andrew for joining the show and sharing his experiences with the Turf Today community.   Be sure to visit the link in our bio for Turf Today merchandise, industry job opportunities through Bloom Golf Partners, access to the Green Section Record, and more.   Keep those reels sharp. Interview with Clinton Booth, Managing Director & CEO of GCM CorporationOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/green-critical-minerals-asxgcm-vhd-graphite-tech-targets-17b-data-center-market-7556Recording date: 10th February 2026GCM Corporation (ASX:GCM) is executing a critical transition from pre-revenue technology developer to commercial manufacturer in the thermal management sector, with first revenues targeted for the first half of 2026. The company has successfully pivoted from graphite exploration to industrial manufacturing following its late 2024 acquisition of proprietary VHD thermal management technology.CEO Clinton Booth outlined the company's progress through distinct commercialization phases during a February interview. After validating the technology in early 2025 and confirming market appetite in Q2, GCM entered active prototyping in the second half of the year. The company is now manufacturing customer-specific products under confidentiality agreements, sharing technical drawings with multiple customers across electronics, data centers, renewables, and electrical sectors. The VHD technology addresses a critical industry challenge: efficiently dissipating heat loads as devices become more powerful yet smaller. With thermal conductivity superior to copper and aluminum while being 4.5 times lighter than copper and 30 percent lighter than aluminum, VHD offers performance advantages that incumbent materials cannot match. As Booth noted, the market is actively seeking new solutions, with demand driven by electrification, artificial intelligence, and increasing power density requirements across the technology sector.GCM's modular manufacturing approach provides rapid scalability with minimal capital requirements. The current demonstration plant produces hundreds of units monthly, scaling to 1,000 units near-term with capacity to expand 100-fold within 12-15 months. The company achieved ISO 9001 certification in late 2025 and in-housed its product design capability, establishing systematic processes essential for scaling production as sales agreements materialize.Electronics and DC-to-DC converter markets offer the shortest sales pipeline, while data center opportunities present longer qualification periods but significant long-term value. The anticipated first major sales agreement represents a watershed moment that Booth expects will catalyze additional customer interest and validate the company's strategic transformation from explorer to industrial technology manufacturer.View GCM Corp's company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/green-critical-mineralsSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Send us a textA tropical creek you can actually drink from, a camp kitchen by the water, and paddocks lined with rambutan and mangosteen trees—Paradise Camps lived up to its name and then some. We set up under the palms, met the hosts who made it feel like home, and used this Hipcamp haven as a launchpad for Babinda's best: the legendary bakery, a small but rich community museum, and short drives to Josephine Falls and the dramatic, cautionary beauty of Babinda Boulders. No crocs in the creek, just cold, clear water that wakes you up and reminds you why Far North Queensland is a bucket-list region.Between swims and bakery runs, we opened a bigger conversation: should towing large caravans in Australia require a licence or endorsement? With more people on the road and heavier rigs than ever, the accident data is moving in the wrong direction. We break down the pros and cons—safety gains, clearer standards, insurer incentives versus added costs, complexity, and the risk of red tape. Our view leans toward education first: short, practical towing courses that demystify weights, turning geometry, braking distances, and tyre management. Know your GVM, GCM, and tow ball weight. Get weighed in combination. Slow down. These habits build confidence and save lives, whether you're cruising the Bruce Highway or easing down a slim cane-field road.We also talk family on the move. Jasper picked up the Barefoot Investor kids' book again and it clicked—goals, saving, and small business ideas to fund the bigger dreams we won't buy for him. Pair that with the daily lessons of full-time travel and you get a practical education that most classrooms never touch: money sense, planning, and reading the road for real. If you love the idea of a hipcamp that blends paradise with easy access to hikes, swims, and classic country-town eats, this one should top your list.If this story brightened your day or made you rethink how you tow, tap follow, share it with a mate, and leave a quick review. Your note helps other travellers find safer roads and better campsites across Australia.

Certified in AI Strategy for Business by the Wharton School and a curriculum committee member for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce's Institute for Organization Management, Zach is a leading voice in the responsible adoption of artificial intelligence.Zach shares how to turn high-level AI visions into tangible business results—by bringing implementation down to the human level. He explains why most AI initiatives fail at the start, and offers a clear framework for getting teams aligned: identify champions, focus on simple but meaningful tasks, and start with what's already working.Beyond technology, Zach emphasizes that successful AI adoption is a change-management challenge, not a tech rollout. He details how leaders can reduce fear and build trust through strong AI-use policies, clear communication, and a transparent vision that positions AI as an ally, not a threat.Zach also introduces a powerful metaphor—treating AI as a junior employee: it's fast and ambitious but needs direction, context, and oversight from experienced human “managers.” Used this way, AI amplifies expertise rather than replacing it.Looking ahead, Zach envisions a future where AI levels the playing field, empowering small businesses and entrepreneurs worldwide to compete and innovate responsibly. He urges society to learn from the mistakes of social media—ensuring that AI development and regulation include informed voices from every sector, not just a handful of tech giants. His message is clear: with thoughtful leadership and education, AI can elevate both business and humanity. If you liked what you heard today, please leave us a review - Apple or Spotify. Interview with Clinton Booth, Managing Director of Green Critical Minerals Ltd.Recording date: 29th July 2025Green Critical Minerals (GCM) has executed a strategic transformation from traditional mineral exploration to advanced technology manufacturing, positioning itself at the forefront of the rapidly expanding thermal management market. Under Managing Director Clinton Booth's leadership, the company has acquired Very High Density (VHD) graphite technology that addresses a critical challenge in modern computing: efficiently cooling increasingly powerful microchips in data centers and high-performance computing applications. The technology represents a significant breakthrough in thermal management. VHD graphite can handle 300W of power demand compared to just 200W for traditional copper and aluminum heat sinks of identical design when operating at 70 degrees—a 50% performance improvement. This enhanced capability directly translates to reduced cooling costs, lower electricity consumption, and decreased water usage for data center operators, who typically spend 30-40% of their operating costs on cooling systems.GCM's market opportunity is substantial and growing rapidly. The heat sink market for data centers alone was valued at $17 billion in 2023, while Nvidia's chip sales to the data center sector exploded from approximately $4 billion in 2023 to over $40 billion in 2024, demonstrating the explosive growth driving demand for advanced thermal solutions. The company has developed a dual-channel go-to-market strategy targeting immediate revenue through online retailers and industrial suppliers, followed by high-volume contracts with data center and semiconductor customers. GCM's modular manufacturing approach requires only $500,000 per production module and can scale capacity 6-8 times within 3-6 months, targeting 40% gross margins.Following a $7 million capital raise in June 2025 anchored by Terra Capital, GCM is well-positioned to capitalize on the intersection of AI growth and energy efficiency demands. The company targets first revenue in the first half of 2026, with strategic partnerships including GreenSquareDC providing real-world validation opportunities in the sustainability-focused data center market.View Green Critical Minerals' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/green-critical-mineralsSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com

Nepal unprepared to reintegrate female migrant workers

What do you think? Send us a textHi everyone. I'm sorry for the delay in releasing this episode. In a minute, we'll get to this week's chat about how female migrant workers are treated after they return to Nepal, but first I want to share some personal news. My stepfather passed away in December, which changed everything. Like many of us he was a migrant. Born on a farm 90 years ago in northwestern Ontario, the centre of Canada, when he was a young man he moved 2,500 km away to Vancouver on the Pacific Ocean. Soon after he moved even further, across what was then Georgia Strait, now the Salish Sea, to Vancouver Island, where my family lived. After he retired, my wife and I, then living in central Canada, encouraged him to visit his hometown. But insisting that he was afraid to fly, he always said no. He also refused to make the trip by train or car. I think maybe he had just become too much of a homebody at that point, preferring to spend his time caring for his yard and small house in a small city. I dedicate this episode to my stepfather, Joe.  This week we're talking with Sunita Mainali, Executive Director of WOREC, an NGO that works on a broad range of women's issues. As I said, we're talking mainly about what happens to female migrant workers after they return from working abroad. As you'll hear, I just assumed that the focus would, and should, be on finding work for these women in Nepal. But I learned quickly that without social reintegration there can be no economic reintegration. One note: Sunita mentions the GCM. That is the Global Coordination Mechanism, an international treaty on migration developed by the United Nations.ResourcesWOREC websiteSend us feedback and ideas.
