Barra was in the news that West Coast finally have a new coach and he had all the wash-up and reactions from the AFL Grand Final, from Katy Perry to the very one sided game which saw The Brisbane Lions take the Premiership Cup for 2024, we now move on to the NRL Grand Final which is this weekend between the Penrith Tigers & Melbourne Storm , plus Australia wins the One Day International against England. Clairsy has a friend who has spent a fortune maintaining their car so the guys opened the phone and text line to ask, just how much have you spent on maintaining something. Clairsy & Lisa launched a new series today called How To Make It in W.A where they speak to people in the movie and TV industry about how to get that head start here in Western Australia particularly now that we're getting a world class film studio built. Today's guest was Dr. Renee Newman who is the Associate Dean at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) about what it takes to get into the industry and some of the jobs available. In The Shaw Report, we've lost some big names over the weekend plus a judge rules that Baby Reindeer didn't live up to it's billing as a true story.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

They then chat about the opening of the NFL season, thoughts on Tom Brady commentating and we get the full run-down on the life of BTs Channel Seven suits of all things! Next, they are joined by a pioneer of Women's Football in Australia, Daisy Pearce. Daisy grew up a country girl in the Vic High County (Wandiligong to be specific), there are few that have done more for women's sport in Australia in such a short time than Daisy, she has been at the forefront of the fast-expanding AFLW since its launch on the national stage in 2016, her resume is unmatched; Premiership captain of the Melbourne Football Club, 3x club Best & Fairest, 3x All-Australian, 4x AFLW best captain, not to mention the exemplary CV in the VFLW before the national league started. Off the field, she has been a leading media personality, a development coach with Geelong men's program, a practicing mid-wife, mother of twins, and now the head coach of the West Coast Eagles's W team. Beyond of the impressive surface of Daisy's achievements is the person and the example she sets for our community. She is one of the most humble and inspiring people we have ever met. She is able to connect and break-down barriers through her innate relatability, vulnerability and passion for the things and people she cares about. On her retirement, we revisit this conversation we had with Daisy Pearce late last year:A premiership medal has so far eluded Melbourne's captain Daisy Pearce, widely regarded face of the AFLW, but the Demons star says her football journey has been “so much more than that”, as she's found fulfilment outside the flag dream.Last season, when Melbourne made the grand final for the first time in competition history, a narrative was quickly created around “Do it for Daisy”. Pearce speaks to sports reporter for The Age, Marnie Vinall, about the upcoming preliminary final against North Melbourne at Ikon Park on Saturday, where the Demons are the strong favourites to progress into another grand final.“The beauty of AFLW footy is the amount of time you spend together, and the time and level that you can connect on," says Pearce. "You know, people that just challenge and inspire every day, in all walks of life, not just to get better at footy, but just to be better in general, has been awesome."
