"John Wick: Chapter 4" is the culmination of years of hard work, creative ambition, and four exhilarating films that gave audiences an iconic new action movie character worth rooting for. A fourth installment, John Wick: Chapter 4, is in post-production and has a release date of March 24, 2023. A fifth installment is also in development, and was originally intended to be shot back-to-back with the fourth film. Nominated for 10 awards and won 5. First time you saw the movie? Plot:-That is an old ass iphone.-Interesting way to start a movie, with the main character seemingly dying.-Really going for the emotional gut punch right off the bat, huh?-The fucking beagle... Sweet letter. Emotional gut punch, binding you to the character.-obviously John Wick has never had a puppy... Don't just leave it on the ground, not in a kennel.-Fitting the guys in the bmw are russian-So he goes to air field just to power slide? we obviously know nothing about him, yet. So what does he do? What happened to the dog during the power sliding?-The russian assholes are back; all for the car? Because they felt disrespected? Fuck those guys for killing the dog.-So John knows exactly where to go to find his car? Who's Vigo? The Carpathian? He did conquer the country of Moldavia.-Hey, look, it's the mayham guy... Guess that's apt for this movie.-Finally getting some back story on John... So he was an assassin. -So they're going to try and kill him before he can come for them... Obviously he's waiting on them.-It's increadable these guys only come for him one at a time... The knife fight was anxiety inducing.-Chat with the sheriff was funny.-What's with the gold coins?-Getting Wicks old friend to try and kill him is low-The pacing of the movie is bumpy. The fighting is fun, but all the other stuff is laboring.-So some werid hotel that everyone knows John and now a Matrix-esque club/bar thing?-How long does it take to drown someone? Always seems too fast in movies.-Interesting music choice in the club fight scene-Being thrown off the balcony, that wouldn've broken something... back, elbow, leg.-Nice phone call to the kid... Everything has a price. -Bourbon John drinks is blantons single barrel malt whisky-Willem Dafoes character is a shitty shot if he misses while John is sleeping. Interesting fight...-Didn't kill the girl assassin; guess there is some honor among assassins. -So he burns all the money... I would've taken a stack or two... Even though it seems he doesn't need it. -The car park gun fight... When he's hit by the car... Again, should've broken something. Concussion at least.-Cool they get to meet face to face, and John explains his anger... Don't really see that happening in most action moivies. Very emotionally driven.-That is ssecond shot willem dafoes character missed on an easy shot... is he trying ot subtly help Wick?-Can't imagine giving up your kid to be killed. ugh... almost feel bad for the guy.-I cant wait to watch this shitty kid get killed for being such an asshole.-Management gave him a dodge challenger/charger? I'd rather have the old camero or mustang.-So Dafoe was really... Da-ally... -Girl assassin still after him, even though the contract was pulled?-Uh-oh, they killed Willem Dafoe.-The girl assassin got hers... But killing her in the crossfire like that... Not too smart. What if one misses.-Its crazy, right when he jumps off the car, is when it starts raining.-Big fight wasn't that big... Few punches and a stab.-Back to the begninning, and he's alive.-So he steals someone elses dog? The end Top Five Trivia of the movie: Marcus Facts about John wick 1 When Kolstad was writing John Wick, he orginally titled the film Scorn then he decided to name his protagonist after his grandfather, John Wick, a businessman who owned Wick Building Systems in Madison, Wisconsin. 2 The Action scenes had to be muted. On location in New York City, Stahelski and Leitch had to exercise caution when it came to staging shootouts and car chases, and not just for safety. Their filming permit didn't allow for blank ammunition, so computer-generated muzzle flashes were often used. 3 Based on how many dynamic action scenes the John Wick movies include, it is pretty obvious that filming them must be somewhat arduous for series star Keanu Reeves. As it turns out, that was especially true for the actor when they filmed the nightclub scene he had the flu at the time and was running a 104° fever. 4 Michael Nyqvist, who played Viggo Tarasov, had to have 80 stitches put in his head after a stunt went wrong while filming. 5: Director Chad Stahelski was Keanu Reeves' stunt double in The Matrix movies The story is loosely inspired by an incident in Texas involving former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, who wrote Lone Survivor, about his fireteam's ordeal during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan in 2005. Luttrell was given a yellow labrador puppy, whom he named DASY, after the members of his fireteam. On April 1, 2009, at about 1:00 a.m., Luttrell was awakened by a gunshot, and saw four men drive away. DASY was dead in his yard from a gunshot wound. He armed himself with two 9mm Beretta pistols and chased the men through four counties in his truck until police apprehended them. They taunted Luttrell, threatened to kill him, and indicated no remorse for their actions. They were later sentenced for animal cruelty. Luttrell stated later, "I spared them, because I've killed enough people already." TOP 5Stephen:1 Breakfast club2 T23 Sandlot4 Back to the Future5 Mail order brides Chris:1. sandlots2. Director Chad Stahelski worked with Keanu Reeves on the MATRIX (1999) as a stunt coordinator for that film. When screenwriter Derek Kolstad wrote the screenplay for a film about a bounty hunter that included crazy action set pieces, Stahelski thought of Reeves to play the lead role. That film became JOHN WICK (2014) and the beginning of an iconic character and franchise. John Wick, who's wife died from illness, retires from bounty hunting to try to deal with his loss. When a beagle puppy arrives as a gift from his late wife, he begins to find peace in his life. However, when robbers break in and take everything that's left in his world, he returns to his prior life, searching for revenge and vengeance and once more find peace in this crazy world. Keanu Reeves returned to superstardom after being cast in the film. The movie also stars Willem Dafoe, John Leuizamo, Ian McShane, Alfie Allen, and Michael Nyqvist. JOHN WICK reviewed fantastic reviews and became a surprising money maker leading to the movie becoming a franchise. A Patreon movie pick, Dark Discussions takes a look at the film that started it all and gives their thoughts.

All three of the guys had a total blast with the third entry into this action packed franchise and giggle the entire time while chatting it up. Director Chad Stahelski totally outdoes himself by making this flick the most explosive, visceral and brutal one of the three. Keanu Reeves kicks ass yet again and Halle Berry steals the show in what was one of the best scenes of the series. Definitely check this one out! It is THE action movie to beat! “Your world creation is a visual. I want the audience from pretty much right off the bat to know you're in a different reality, so you're going to see some weird stuff. You're going to see dogs and horses and gun-fu and karate and ninjas on motorcycles” says ‘John Wick' Director Chad Stahelski as he discusses crafting the visual palate of the third installment in the Keanu Reeves-led action series “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.” The ‘John Wick' series has introduced audiences to such a distinct world that only seems to expand with each entry. Stahelski and cinematographer Dan Lausten challenged themselves to perfect the look of ‘John Wick' by leaning heavily into lighting techniques so audiences can lose themselves in the environment created. Stahelski states, “…we want you to almost reach into the screen and feel the colors and taste them and smell them and be very very involved with the look of the film, and I think that's what kind of separates us just from - we're not actually trying to be rough and tumble and super serious.” While his world building techniques - for which Stahelski attributes his success to working with the Wachowski's and love of international cinema - and striking visuals continue to entrance audiences in, the ‘Wick' Director and his stunt team know viewers want to see jaw-dropping action spectacle. ‘Parabellum's' most challenging set piece no only involves the series' intricate choreography but features an incredible amount of moving parts that range from tracking shots to the use of dogs. “It took us nearly a year to bring that sequence to life. Finding the animals that had the physical and mental aptitude that we wanted, the personalities that we needed to bond the stunt team, the camera team, the rest of the crew, and our cast” stated Stahelski. He then went on to discuss specifically Halle Berry's intense 5-month training with the dogs, whom she would spend 3 hours a day, 5-6 days a week with. In so doing, when we see Berry commanding the dogs on screen, it is, in fact, her giving the orders. That's only a small taste of how Chad Stahelski broke down the magic of ‘John Wick 3'. During our conversation we discussed Stahelski's inspiration for crafting unique action sequences, what the future holds for John moving forward with the series, the status of his upcoming “Highlander” reboot and Ed Brubaker's “Kill or Be Killed” live-action adaptation, recent “Matrix 4” comments, and much more. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theplaylist/message
"John Wick: Chapter 3 -- Parabellum" finally arrives and stuntman-turned-director Chad Stahelski delivers an exhausting, exhilarating film. I have a review of the new film and have a 2017 interview with Stahelski where he explains exactly why John Wick raises the bar on action films. And learn the difference between having a star do action versus doing stunts.

However, we also have an amazing, exclusive interview with John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum director Chad Stahelski. He gets into all the intricate details necessary when directing actions scenes with dogs, the commitment of his actors, Keanu Reeves and Halley Barry, and we all take a moment to reflect on The Matrix now 20 years later, the film he began to make a name for himself as stunt coordinator and performer. Next week, we are looking at the films of Guy Ritchie in honor of his new film, Disney's live-action remake of Aladin. #GuyRitchieBlend
Warning: Jack is drunker than normal due to two days of working on-site at E3. Aaron's still angry about the lack of waffles at Netflix's "Stranger Things" Waffle Breakfast. But hey, at least they finally realized they can do a pretty decent Beavis and Butthead impersonation ... Question: Do you guys really want an eight-hour long episode from us? Like, that's a crazy concept, right? Why would you want that ... but, really though, do you want that? NEWS: The original Batman Adam West passed away at the age of 88 on Saturday, June 10th. The new “DuckTales” will premiere on Disney XD at midnight on August 12th with a 24-hour marathon of the series premiere. But you’ll have to wait until September 23rd for new episodes -- because that date marks the 30th anniversary of the original series. Ryan Murphy has put the pause on “American Crime Story: Hurricane Katrina” to make “The Assassination of Gianni Versace” the show’s official Season 2. Originally, “Katrina” was to mark the show’s second season, and the plan was that both seasons would go into production at the same time. Now it won’t begin shooting until sometime in 2018. “Broad City” will bleep out Donald Trump’s name throughout the duration of Season 4. CNN dropped Reza Aslan’s show “Believer” from their lineup after he posted anti-Trump tweets on his personal Twitter page -- one post called the president a “piece of shit.” CMT is in early talks to revive Tim Allen’s “Last Man Standing” because of course, they are. This season of “Bachelor in Paradise” has been shut down due to allegations of sexual misconduct. The “John Wick” TV series will focus on the global chain of assassin hotels, titled “The Continental.” Director Chad Stahelski says the story will focus on the “intricacies of that world” and Keanu Reeves may make a cameo as John Wick but he won’t be the focal point of the series. “You can be with the consigliere, concierge, the sommelier,” He tells IndieWire. “You can be with all these different characters and walk through the world in different aspects; ones that I’m a little limited [from exploring] by staying with my lead guy.” BBC America announced “Luther” will be returning for Season 5. It’ll be four episodes and won’t begin filming until late 2018. The Harold & Maudecast Film Reviews - John Wick: Chapter 2 Review by Sarah Mason & Jake Essoe www.thehmcnetwork.com In this week's Now Playing Movie reviews on The HMC, John Wick: Chapter 2. Keanu Reeves is back as John Wick in this sequel to the knock out surprise kick ass hit of 2014. This time around he's got a new dog, and some new frenemies. Strap in tight cause this ride is fast from the jump. After John Wick ties up some loose ends with his Russian pals he quickly finds that living a quiet life in the suburbs with his dog is never to be. Forced to carry out a task that will drag him deeper into the world of Assassins, Wick finds himself with a very large bounty on his head. Wick's got a few returning allies, chop shop man, Aurelio (John Leguizamo), Continental Hotel Manger, Winston (Ian McShane) and some new ones, Bowery King (Laurence Fishburne). He's also got some new adversaries fellow assassins Cassian (Common) and Ares (Ruby Rose). If you're concerned that the sequel won't live up to the original, never fear. John Wick: Chapter 2 equals, and possibly rivals it's predecessor upping the anti on action whilst keeping its precise, albeit simple storytelling in tact. Director Chad Stahelski aided by Derek Kolstad's script, have built a complex and imaginative universe with the John Wick franchise. With this sequel, it continues to expand and grab you into it, not unlike other (magical) world building stories that have come before it. Thus far, it's the one to beat for 2017. 9/10.
