fWotD Episode 2855: John Wick (film) Welcome to Featured Wiki of the Day, your daily dose of knowledge from Wikipedia’s finest articles. The featured article for Thursday, 27 February 2025 is John Wick (film).John Wick is a 2014 American action thriller film directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad. Keanu Reeves stars as John Wick, a legendary hitman who comes out of retirement to seek revenge against the men who killed his dog, a final gift from his recently deceased wife. The film also stars Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Dean Winters, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, and Willem Dafoe.Kolstad's script drew on his interest in action, revenge, and neo noir films. The producer Basil Iwanyk purchased the rights as his first independent film production. Reeves, whose career was declining, liked the script and recommended that the experienced stunt choreographers Stahelski and David Leitch direct the action scenes; Stahelski and Leitch successfully lobbied to co-direct the project. Principal photography began in October 2013, on a $20–$30 million budget, and concluded that December. Stahelski and Leitch focused on long, highly choreographed single takes to convey action, eschewing the rapid cuts and closeup shots of contemporary action films.Iwanyk struggled to secure theatrical distributors because industry executives were dismissive of an action film by first-time directors, and Reeves's recent films had financially underperformed. Lionsgate Films purchased the distribution rights to the film two months before its release date on October 24, 2014. Following a successful marketing campaign that changed its perception from disposable entertainment to a prestige event helmed by an affable leading actor, John Wick exceeded box-office projections and became a modest success, grossing $86 million worldwide. It received generally positive reviews for its style and its action sequences. Critics hailed John Wick as a comeback for Reeves, in a role that played to his acting strengths. The film's mythology of a criminal underworld with rituals and rules was praised as its most distinctive and interesting feature.John Wick began a successful franchise which includes three sequels (John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017), John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum (2019), and John Wick: Chapter 4 (2023)), the prequel television series The Continental (2023), and the spin-off film Ballerina (2025), as well as video games and comic books. It is seen as having revitalized the action genre and popularized long single takes with choreographed, detailed action. This recording reflects the Wikipedia text as of 00:56 UTC on Thursday, 27 February 2025.For the full current version of the article, see John Wick (film) on Wikipedia. This podcast uses content from Wikipedia under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike License.Visit our archives at wikioftheday.com and subscribe to stay updated on new episodes.Follow us on Mastodon at @wikioftheday@masto.ai.Also check out Curmudgeon's Corner, a current events podcast.Until next time, I'm generative Stephen.

Im your host Nikhil. News from Hollywood first.‘Blue Beetle' will be part of the new DC Universe, confirms directorIn the wake of The Flash's disastrous theatrical run, there is a growing sentiment that the lack of clarity surrounding James Gunn's vision for DCU has damaged the film's chances of success at     the box office. So it's hardly surprising that the studio is now concerned about subsequent DC films such as Blue Beetle and the Aquaman sequel which could potentially suffer the same fate as The Flash. This seems even more likely considering the fact that the universe is being rebooted by James Gunn's 2025 film Superman: Legacy. However, Blue Beetle director Angel Manuel Soto has confirmed that his film will be part of the new DCU, contradicting earlier reports that Superman: Legacy will be the first film of the new universe. Blue Beetle starring Cobra Kai star Xolo Maridueña is scheduled to release on August 18 this year. Let's hope it packs a pow and a punch and isn't marred by The Flash's dismal theatrical performance.  Tenoch Huerta upcoming Netflix film amidst sexual assault allegations Black Panther: Wakanda Forever star Tenoch Huerta has exited Netflix's upcoming film Fiesta en la Madriguera. The news comes in the wake of sexual assault allegations against the Mexican actor by musician and social activist María Elena Ríos. Huerta has denied the allegations levelled against him and announced that he would be stepping away from the Netflix project so that the controversy does not affect the film's production.   ‘Nine Perfect Strangers' renewed for season 2 and eyes new cast members The Hulu original series Nine Perfect Strangers has officially been renewed, nearly two years after the first season premiered. Hollywood star Nicole Kidman will reprise her role as Masha Dmitrichenko, the founder of a wellness resort that opts for a rather unconventional approach. The studio is reportedly in talks with several actors, including Murray Bartlett, Liv Ullman, Aras Aydin, Maisie Richardson-Sellers, and Dolly de Leon to star as the new ‘strangers' for season two. Jacob Elordi and Cailee Spaeny to star in biopic on Priscilla PresleyEuphoria star Jacob Elordi is set to star alongside Mare of Easttown actress Cailee Spaeny in the upcoming film Priscilla. The film is a biopic on Priscilla Presley, the wife of legendary rock star Elvis Presley. The film is based on Priscilla's memoir Elvis and Me and is directed by Academy Award-winner Sofia Coppola. Elordi will star as the King of Rock n' Roll while Spaeny will essay the role of the titular character. The film is expected to release this year.  'Extraction 2' breaks streaming record for 2023Chris Hemsworth's latest action film Extraction 2 has become one of Netflix's biggest-ever film releases. The streaming giant announced that the Sam Hargrave directorial has become Netflix's biggest film debut of 2023. The action film has been watched across the globe for 88 million hours and comfortably occupies first place in Netflix's weekly top ten list. It has already dethroned Jennifer Lopez's The Mother and Daniel Craig's 2022 crime comedy Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery but has just fallen behind the Russo brothers' film The Gray Man, which has been watched for a whopping 88.5 million hours. 'John Wick' director Chad Stahelski announces a ‘director's cut for the fourth film John Wick director Chad Stahelski has confirmed that a ‘director's cut' of the film is in development and will release in theatres. An additional 15 minutes is to be expected in this new cut, and Stahelski added that a lot of scenes from the Berlin schedule were cut from the original theatrical release, including a character named The Frau. The original cut of the film will be available to stream in India on Lionsgate Play from the 23rd of June, 2023. Well that's the Sizzling news for today's episode, until the next time its your host Nikhil signing out.Aaj kya dekhoge OTTplay se poochoWritten by Ryan Gomez

“Friendship means little when it's convenient.”Wrapping Up the John Wick SagaBefore the pandemic, director Chad Stahelski and team had been planning to film John Wick: Chapter 4 and Chapter 5 back to back. After delays, they ended up dropping the fifth chapter, opting to wrap everything up in the fourth film. So how does Chapter 4 work to continue expanding this world of assassins while also wrapping up John's story? Do more story threads get dropped? And how do they amp up the stunt sequences throughout the film? Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – as we wrap up our John Wick series with a conversation about Stahelski's latest entry, now in theatres, John Wick: Chapter 4.Here's a hint at what we talk about.John's back breaking the High Table's rules, starting off right out of the gate in this film by killing The Elder. But why so little involvement by The Bowery King? His resolution at the end of Chapter 3 seemed to indicate that he was going to go after the High Table with John. Maybe that's just another in the line of plot threads set up upon which they never execute. Or perhaps it was connected to the whittling down of two films into just this one. Who knows? Regardless, we would have loved more Laurence Fishburne. That being said, we do get the introduction of many great characters in this new film. They're great, and the actors portraying them are great. Plus, we have some spectacular action set pieces that are incredible. The staircase sequence is one for the ages, particularly the insane fall down its entire length. We discuss some of Stahelski's influences in the film, as well as several direct homages. And we discuss the impending spinoff film and TV show, while pondering if they'll find a thread to pick up in order to continue the story again. We have a great time talking about it, so check it out then tune in. We talk not just about its infamous place in film history for the on-set death of star Brandon Lee on March 31st, 1993, but about its real accomplishments in translating a comic and cartoon look and feel to live action, as well as the surprisingly long tail of its influence via Chad Stahelski. “Can a man like you know peace?”We're Back With John as He Takes on the Italian MafiaJohn Wick: Chapter 2 starts mid-action sequence as John fights Viggo's brother to get his car back. It sets up the action for this film, and sets up John's motivations. He's a man stuck in the past who clings to his relics. Once he has his car, he even goes so far as to try breaking the rules to stay out of the business. Unfortunately, he's not allowed, which propels this film. There's a lot more world-building in this film to set all of this up. How does it work? Join us – Pete Wright and Andy Nelson – as we continue our look at the John Wick series with a conversation about Chad Stahelski's 2017 follow-up John Wick: Chapter 2.Here's a hint at what we talk about. This is an R-rated world of violence. What's interesting is that, given the opportunity to include nudity as well, Stahelski opts to avoid it. That tells us a lot about the specific world-view we're meant to take away from this movie. It's one of violence, not sex, even if it's full of sexy, well-dressed people who know how to fight. To that end, the stunts and action are amped up and enjoyable. It helps that the film is so beautiful to look at, particularly that final fight sequence through the museum and hall of mirrors. We get a prolonged stunt sequence midway through the film as John leaves his assassination of Gianna then has to fight dozens of hitmen, not to mention Common and Ruby Rose, both playing bodyguards. But how does this expanded world of hitmen work? Are they making a mess of it or does it work for us? And how about the new rules involving blood oaths? It's actually quite interesting. If there's an area we like but worry it may become too convoluted in later films, it's the 12-member High Table with the various mob families, not to mention the Bowery and all the other various groups that seem to be involved in crime here. Regardless, it all makes for a fun film. Directors Chad Stahelski and David Leitch are legendary stunt performers and coordinators, and one of the joys of their movies getting bigger with each installment is seeing Stahelski (who now directs the films solo) fold in more and more action pros from around the world, like Mark Dacascos of Wu Assassins fame or The Raid's Yayan Ruhian. John Wick: Chapter 4 continues this tradition, notably with Hong Kong star Donnie Yen and the king of direct-to-video action himself, Scott Adkins - but like we've never seen him before.

ARTICLE ON JOHN WICK 4 FROM THEWRAP.COM Final 'John Wick 4' Trailer Has Keanu Reeves Facing Off Against Action Movie Royalty Lionsgate has dropped its third and final trailer for "John Wick: Chapter 4." The Keanu Reeves-led action franchise is the brightest bright spot on Lionsgate's theatrical slate and their most obvious hope for a 2023 breakout. To those in the know, the likes of Chinese action-god Donnie Yen (also seen by Americans in "Rogue One: A Star Wars Story," "Shanghai Knights" and "xXx: The Return of Xander Cage") and direct-to-DVD and VOD action king Scott Adkins (also seen by American theatergoers in "Doctor Strange" and "Expendables 2") qualify as added value elements. The film will give these folks a higher-profile platform, at least in terms of mainstream Hollywood audiences, to show off their star power. Clancy Brown showing up and subtly riffing on his "Highlander" appearance is for fans old enough to have kids who can buy an R-rated movie ticket sans parent or guardian. Directed by Chad Stahelski, "John Wick: Chapter 4" sees the beleaguered not-so-retired hitman accepting an offer from the High Council to settle his life debt. The last three "Wick" flicks pulled near-unprecedented commercial growth, going from $88 million worldwide in 2014, to $171 million in 2017, to $322 million in 2019. In pre-COVID times, the big questions were whether a fourth chapter could continue that momentum and whether the franchise would expand its overseas muscle. "John Wick: Chapter 4" opens theatrically on March 24th Here's the trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yjRHZEUamCc ARTICLE FROM POLYGON.COM John Wick Chapter 4 puts one of our greatest action heroes in a giant prosthetic suit The John Wick movies are a stuntman's franchise. Scott Adkins is normally seen doing insanely athletic kicks. He has the sort of physique you might expect from someone who must convincingly portray action heroes who can knock someone's lights out with his shins. Here, on the other hand, is how he will appear as "Killa" in John Wick: Chapter 4:Adkins is playing against type here in a way that feels a lot like Colin Farrell's Penguin in The Batman - and previous Adkins movies like Accident Man: Hitman's Holiday show off the action star's willingness to have fun while kicking ass. Regardless of how much pain Adkins dishes out (or doesn't!) as Killa, John Wick: Chapter 4 is Adkins' highest-profile role to date. It may be a lot of people's first exposure to him. What a kick they're gonna get out of seeing what he's usually up to, once they dig into his back catalog. John Wick: Chapter 4 is in theaters March 24th. SCOTT ADKINS BIO (FROM WIKIPEDIA) Scott Adkins (born 17 June 1976) is an English actor, film producer and martial artist. He is best known for his role as the Russian prison fighter Yuri Boyka in the Undisputed franchise. He has played Yuri Boyka in the 2006 film Undisputed II: Last Man Standing and its two sequels, Undisputed III: Redemption (2010) and Boyka: Undisputed (2017); Casey Bowman in the 2009 film Ninja and its 2013 sequel Ninja: Shadow of a Tear; French in the 2018 film The Debt Collector and its 2020 sequel Debt Collectors (starring alongside Louis Mandylor). He worked in four films with his idol Jean-Claude Van Damme: The Shepherd: Border Patrol, Assassination Games, Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning and The Expendables 2. He also had starring roles in The Legend of Hercules, Wolf Warrior and Ip Man 4: The Finale playing the main antagonist in all three films, and also appeared in The Bourne Ultimatum, Zero Dark Thirty, and the Marvel projects Mutant X, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Doctor Strange. In 2022, he starred in Day Shift with Jamie Foxx and Dave Franco, and will appear in John Wick: Chapter 4 alongside Keanu Reeves in 2023.https://johnwick.movie/film/john-wick-4https://twitter.com/johnwickmovie#JohnWick4

Chad Stahelski, the director of the John Wick series, will direct Michael B. Jordan in the Tom Clancy sequel Rainbow Six, which will be a follow-up to 2021's Without Remorse. Jordan will reprise his role as Navy SEAL and CIA operative John Clark, who has appeared in numerous Tom Clancy novels. The movie will adapt from the same novels that Ubisoft has based its video game series on. Stahelski will direct the movie and has become one of the best action directors in Hollywood. Without Remorse was an origin story for Jordan's portrayal of Clark and was released on Amazon during the pandemic. However, Rainbow Six is expected to be released in theaters. Stahelski is also involved in a remake of Highlander and will produce the John Wick spinoff Ballerina. A fifth installment is also in development, and was originally intended to be shot back-to-back with the fourth film.  Nominated for 10 awards and won 5. First time you saw the movie? Plot:-That is an old ass iphone.-Interesting way to start a movie, with the main character seemingly dying.-Really going for the emotional gut punch right off the bat, huh?-The fucking beagle... Sweet letter. Emotional gut punch, binding you to the character.-obviously John Wick has never had a puppy... Don't just leave it on the ground, not in a kennel.-Fitting the guys in the bmw are russian-So he goes to air field just to power slide? we obviously know nothing about him, yet. So what does he do? What happened to the dog during the power sliding?-The russian assholes are back; all for the car? Because they felt disrespected? Fuck those guys for killing the dog.-So John knows exactly where to go to find his car? Who's Vigo? The Carpathian? He did conquer the country of Moldavia.-Hey, look, it's the mayham guy... Guess that's apt for this movie.-Finally getting some back story on John... So he was an assassin. -So they're going to try and kill him before he can come for them... Obviously he's waiting on them.-It's increadable these guys only come for him one at a time... The knife fight was anxiety inducing.-Chat with the sheriff was funny.-What's with the gold coins?-Getting Wicks old friend to try and kill him is low-The pacing of the movie is bumpy. The fighting is fun, but all the other stuff is laboring.-So some werid hotel that everyone knows John and now a Matrix-esque club/bar thing?-How long does it take to drown someone? Always seems too fast in movies.-Interesting music choice in the club fight scene-Being thrown off the balcony, that wouldn've broken something... back, elbow, leg.-Nice phone call to the kid... Everything has a price. -Bourbon John drinks is blantons single barrel malt whisky-Willem Dafoes character is a shitty shot if he misses while John is sleeping. Interesting fight...-Didn't kill the girl assassin; guess there is some honor among assassins. -So he burns all the money... I would've taken a stack or two... Even though it seems he doesn't need it. -The car park gun fight... When he's hit by the car... Again, should've broken something. Concussion at least.-Cool they get to meet face to face, and John explains his anger... Don't really see that happening in most action moivies. Very emotionally driven.-That is ssecond shot willem dafoes character missed on an easy shot... is he trying ot subtly help Wick?-Can't imagine giving up your kid to be killed. ugh... almost feel bad for the guy.-I cant wait to watch this shitty kid get killed for being such an asshole.-Management gave him a dodge challenger/charger? I'd rather have the old camero or mustang.-So Dafoe was really... Da-ally... -Girl assassin still after him, even though the contract was pulled?-Uh-oh, they killed Willem Dafoe.-The girl assassin got hers... But killing her in the crossfire like that... Not too smart. What if one misses.-Its crazy, right when he jumps off the car, is when it starts raining.-Big fight wasn't that big... Few punches and a stab.-Back to the begninning, and he's alive.-So he steals someone elses dog? The end Top Five Trivia of the movie: Marcus Facts about John wick 1 When Kolstad was writing John Wick, he orginally titled the film Scorn then he decided to name his protagonist after his grandfather, John Wick, a businessman who owned Wick Building Systems in Madison, Wisconsin. 2 The Action scenes had to be muted. On location in New York City, Stahelski and Leitch had to exercise caution when it came to staging shootouts and car chases, and not just for safety. Their filming permit didn't allow for blank ammunition, so computer-generated muzzle flashes were often used. 3 Based on how many dynamic action scenes the John Wick movies include, it is pretty obvious that filming them must be somewhat arduous for series star Keanu Reeves. As it turns out, that was especially true for the actor when they filmed the nightclub scene he had the flu at the time and was running a 104° fever. 4 Michael Nyqvist, who played Viggo Tarasov, had to have 80 stitches put in his head after a stunt went wrong while filming. 5: Director Chad Stahelski was Keanu Reeves' stunt double in The Matrix movies The story is loosely inspired by an incident in Texas involving former Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell, who wrote Lone Survivor, about his fireteam's ordeal during Operation Red Wings in Afghanistan in 2005. Luttrell was given a yellow labrador puppy, whom he named DASY, after the members of his fireteam. On April 1, 2009, at about 1:00 a.m., Luttrell was awakened by a gunshot, and saw four men drive away. DASY was dead in his yard from a gunshot wound. He armed himself with two 9mm Beretta pistols and chased the men through four counties in his truck until police apprehended them. They taunted Luttrell, threatened to kill him, and indicated no remorse for their actions. They were later sentenced for animal cruelty. Luttrell stated later, "I spared them, because I've killed enough people already."    TOP 5Stephen:1 Breakfast club2 T23 Sandlot4 Back to the Future5 Mail order brides Chris:1. sandlots2. John Wick is a 2014 American action thriller film directed by Chad Stahelski, in his directorial debut, and written by Derek Kolstad. It stars Keanu Reeves, Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Dean Winters, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, and Willem Dafoe. It is the first installment in the John Wick franchise. The story focuses on John Wick (Reeves) searching for the men who broke into his home, stole his vintage car and killed his puppy, which was a last gift to him from his recently deceased wife.[6] Chad Stahelski and David Leitch directed the film together, though only Stahelski was credited.[1] Kolstad had completed the screenplay in 2012 and further developed it for Thunder Road Pictures.[7] The film was produced by Basil Iwanyk of Thunder Road Pictures, Leitch, Eva Longoria, and Michael Witherill. It marks Stahelski and Leitch's directorial debut as a team after multiple separate credits as second-unit directors and stunt coordinators. They previously worked with Reeves as stunt doubles on The Matrix trilogy.

BONJOUR A TOUS AUJOURDHUI NOUS ALLONS VOUS PARLER CINEMA ET JEUX VIDEO PLUS PRECISEMENT DE John Wick 4: Everything We Know About The Action SequelKeanu Reeves returns as the reluctant former hitman in the fourth movie in the action franchise, which arrives in 2022.GameSpot NewslettersGet the latest gaming news, reviews, and deals sent to your inbox, FREE!Email AddressThe John Wick series is one of the most successful action franchises of recent years, but unlike many big movie franchises, it had a relatively modest beginning. 2014's John Wick, which starred Keanu Reeves as a former hitman reluctantly brought out of retirement, was not a massive commercial success. It grossed $86 million worldwide--a respectable figure for a movie with a $30 million production budget, but hardly the sort of numbers that suggests the start of a big ongoing series. It was 2017's sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, that really took the series into blockbuster territory. With a bigger scale and far more extravagant action set-pieces, it was a critical and commercial smash. John Wick: Chapter 3--Parabellum, released in 2019, was even bigger, making $327.3 million worldwide and ensuring the long-term future of the franchise. John Wick 4 is due for release in 2022. The movie was originally supposed to be with us in 2021, but like many movies over the past two years, was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. But with shooting now complete, it will finally arrive next summer--so here's everything we know to date about John Wick 4.What's the release date?John Wick 4 will hit theaters on May 27, 2022.Who's Coming Back?Several of the main actors from the previous John Wick movies will be back for this fourth installment. Keanu Reeves plays the title role once more, with Ian McShane back as Winston, the manager of the New York Continental Hotel, and Wick's former friend who betrayed him at the end of Chapter 3. Lance Reddick returns as Charon, the concierge of the Continental, and Laurence Fishburne plays The Bowery King, the head of the underworld intelligence network known as The Soup Kitchen.Who's new?John Wick 4 has added several new actors to its cast. It's an impressive mix of character actors and established action stars, plus pop star Rina Sawayama in her first movie. The supporting cast looks like this:Donnie Yen (Ip Man, Rogue One)Shamier Anderson (Wynonna Earp)Bill Skarsgård (Eternals, It)Hiroyuki Sanada (Army of the Dead, Westworld)Scott Adkins (The Expendables 2, Doctor Strange)Clancy Brown (Thor: Ragnarok, Promising Young Woman)Rina SawayamaWho's the director? The movie is helmed by former stuntman Chad Stahelski. He also directed the second and third John Wick films and co-directed the first with David Leitch.Who's the writer?John Wick 4 is written by Shay Hatten and Michael Finch. Hatten co-wrote Chapter 3 as well as Zach Scheider's Army of the Dead and Army of Thieves. Finch's credits include Predators, American Assassin, and The November Man. Notably, this will be the first John Wick movie without any involvement from franchise creator Derek Kolstad, who previously revealed that he wasn't asked to work on the film. What's the story?John Wick 4 will pick up the story after the shocking events at the end of the third movie. Wick was shot and seemingly left for dead by Winston, who is able to regain his role as manager of the Continental as a result. But Wick survived and plans to bring down the feared underworld authority the High Table, potentially with the help of the Bowery King. While we don't know much more about the film's plot beyond that, Reeves recently revealed that the opening sequence will take place in the desert. "John Wick is back in the desert on a horse," he told Collider. "I'm going to hopefully be able to fast-gallop and run.”In addition, Stahelski told IndieWire that the movie won't have a happy ending. "He's got nowhere to go,” he said. “Honestly, I challenge you right now, here's a question to you: How do you f***ing want me to end it? Do you think he's going to ride off into the f***ing sunset? He's killed 300 f***ing people and he's just going to [walk away], everything's okay? He's f***ed for the rest of his life. It's just a matter of time."Is there any footage or images?Production on John Wick Chapter 4 only wrapped in November, so unsurprisingly we're yet to see any official images or footage from the film. However, some on-set photos did leak, including one suggesting that the movie's title might be John Wick 4: Hagakure. But of course, this could just be a working title - or a red herring. We'll know soon enough. Will there be more John Wick movies? This film will definitely not be the final John Wick movie. The fifth film is confirmed, and at one stage was set to shoot back-to-back with the fourth. But although this didn't happen, we know Stahelski will return as director. Beyond that, the prequel TV show The Continental is on the way--the three-part Starz series will be set in the '70s and focus on the rise of the hitman hotel of the title. There's also a spin-off titled The Ballerina in the works, with a script by Hatten.C'EST TOUT POUR LE MOMENT LIKEZ, PARTAGEZ , ABONNEZ VOUS S'IL VOUS PLAITMERCI A TOUSA LA PROCHAINEAimer, c'est se donnerL'amour est un mélange subtil de sentiments et de raison qui donne un élan vital à toutes les relations familiales. Director Chad Stahelski worked with Keanu Reeves on the MATRIX (1999) as a stunt coordinator for that film.  When screenwriter Derek Kolstad wrote the screenplay for a film about a bounty hunter that included crazy action set pieces, Stahelski thought of Reeves to play the lead role.  That film became JOHN WICK (2014) and the beginning of an iconic character and franchise. John Wick, who's wife died from illness, retires from bounty hunting to try to deal with his loss.  When a beagle puppy arrives as a gift from his late wife, he begins to find peace in his life.  However, when robbers break in and take everything that's left in his world, he returns to his prior life, searching for revenge and vengeance and once more find peace in this crazy world. Keanu Reeves returned to superstardom after being cast in the film.  The movie also stars Willem Dafoe, John Leuizamo, Ian McShane, Alfie Allen, and Michael Nyqvist.  JOHN WICK reviewed fantastic reviews and became a surprising money maker leading to the movie becoming a franchise.  A Patreon movie pick, Dark Discussions takes a look at the film that started it all and gives their thoughts.

None of them are as weird as this next live stream. From Dexerto‘Stopsigncam' is a channel dedicated to filming a single stop sign on a random street in Salem, Massachusetts, with the account claiming that 98.73% of vehicles don't actually stop for it.While it doesn't sound like the most gripping content at first glance, Twitch viewers have become weirdly fascinated with the stream. Due to the fact that most cars don't actually stop for the sign, when someone actually obeys the instruction, the chat goes crazy. On top of that, as more and more people are catching on to the stream, some have started to actually go to the sign in person knowing that they will end up on camera. One person stopped at the sign, only to get out of his car and do a backflip.Another pair decided to re-enact a lightsaber fight, adding an unexpected bit of entertainment to the ongoing stream. The channel currently only has 7.6 thousand followers, but some of its most popular clips have over 20,000 views. While it's not the most conventional form of entertainment, stopsigncam has proven to be weirdly fascinating to plenty of viewers, and as it gets more popular, the higher the chance that people will look for the sign so they can appear on stream. Tighe - Now that people have figured out where this is of course neighbors and the streamer have started to be harassed by pizza deliveries and the fun things the internet loves to do. Do you think Twitch will eventually crack down on stuff like this because they could become liable for the harassment? The end of Ludwig's absurd 2-week Twitch stream may finally be in sight We're now 12 days into variety streamer Ludwig Ahgren's 'never-ending' subathon Twitch stream and, by golly, it actually looks like it could end this weekend. As I write this, Ludwig's chat of 36,000 viewers is fighting to keep the timer above 18 hours by tacking on another 10 seconds with every subscription. The streamer's efforts have already made him the most subscribed-to channel on Twitch right now with the second-highest total sub count ever of 120,000 (second only to Ninja's record peak of 269,000). Ludwig has a trip planned for tomorrow, March 27, that he isn't bailing on, which means he'll be forced to step away from the stream for the first time in almost 300 hours. How much his sub count grows over the next 12 hours will likely determine how this thing finally concludes. Streamer Slime (Ludwig's roommate)  will take over the subathon in his absence and even sleep on stream in Ludwig's race car bed. "I understand that this is Ludwig's stream, but we're in a weird spot," Slime said. "The [Ludwig] viewer does necessarily wish to see Slime," he said. "What I do not look forward to is 1,000 people asking, 'Who the hell is this bald douchebag?' That's just really annoying." Ludwig chimes in, "You're my horcrux, and I don't want to die." In the event that the timer is about to strike zero while Ludwig is away, his team has been instructed to halt the timer when it reaches one hour. "And then when [Ludwig] comes back, subathon is back on like Donkey Kong and the one hour starts again," Slime said in an update this morning. Off-screen, Ludwig adds, "It's like the last lap in Mario Kart." He took hostages, battled player-controlled police, but still failed to unlock the vault. During the heist, xQc saw his heart rate skyrocket to 170 BPM, and he nearly passed out from the stress. In a clip from the stream, xQc claimed his peripherals were blacking out and he was on the verge of passing out right on stream.Thankfully, xQc managed to get out alive but left empty-handed, unable to solve the puzzle to open the vault. With police yelling from outside and the risk of having his character shot and killed for one of his most outrageous Grand Theft Auto stunts, the streamer's heartrate shot up to dangerous heights and the pressure almost caused him to pass out. When roleplaying in Grand Theft Auto, players often invest a lot of time and attention, and when they find themselves in close-call situations, it can be extremely stressful. Having hostages to worry about and the need to impress his audience by succeeding in the bank heist, the pressure mounted too heavily on his shoulders and he almost fainted.Rogue - This is one of those things you have to wonder  if Twitch will crack down on because of harm to the streamer. I think we should get you a heart rate monitor for when you play phasmophobia alone.Tech/Gaming News -  Brought to you by our merch store! RIP, Xbox Live (2002-2021) XBOX LIVE IS DEAD LONG LIVE XBOX LIVEFrom Kotaku, many Xbox users noticed a small change on the the Xbox dashboard. While uploading a screenshot to Xbox Live, some players noticed a reference to “Xbox network” where “Xbox Live” used to be.“‘Xbox network' refers to the underlying Xbox online service, which was updated in the Microsoft Services Agreement,” a Microsoft spokesperson told The Verge. “The update from ‘Xbox Live' to ‘Xbox network' is intended to distinguish the underlying service from Xbox Live Gold memberships.”In January, Microsoft announced an intention to increase the price of Xbox Live Gold, making it so the minimum (official) annual cost would leap from $60 to $120. Following widespread backlash, Microsoft reversed course and further announced that Xbox Live Gold would no longer be necessary to play free-to-play games. That change will happen at some point in the coming months, with no firm date yet.Tighe - What do you think of this rebrand for Microsoft? Call Of Duty Hacker Gets Banned From Two Games In One Twitch StreamThere is no one dumber on earth than someone dumb enough to hack or cheat while streaming a video game. Thankfully they get what they deserve. From screen rantActivision isn't pulling any punches when it comes to hackers and cheaters in Call of Duty, as one unfortunate streamer realized when he was banned from not one, but two different COD games in a single streaming session. A Twitch streamer banned during a livestream of Call of Duty: Warzone switched over to Call of Duty Black Ops: Cold War only to discover that Activision's banhammer extended to him there as well.Call of Duty titles have had an especially disastrous epidemic of hackers as of late; an influx of cheaters that required Activision to take more drastic steps in order to curb the problem. With the Call of Duty franchise seeing a massive increase of active players in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the need to take preventative measures to curb or eliminate hackers and cheat bots rose with it. The cheating problem got bad enough that a Modern Warfare tournament was effectively ruined by hackers, which ultimately put a damper on the game's reputation. Activision, not one to take any threats to its profitable franchises lightly, was forced to take more drastic action to oust hackers. February alone saw Activision banning over 60,000 Warzone players for using popular cheating software, and the crusade to eliminate cheaters and hackers from Call of Duty is still pressing forward. This might be why Twitch streamer KD1PP found himself on the business end of the banhammer not once, but twice in the same stream. Serves you right.Beard - Do you think twitch should also crack down on cheating streams? This year's Call of Duty returns to WW2This year's Call of Duty returns to World War 2, according to fresh reports in part verified by Eurogamer.Modern Warzone reported this year's new Call of Duty is in development at Sledgehammer Games, maker of 2017's well-received Call of Duty: WW2, and is due out late 2021. Eurogamer sources have indicated this is indeed true.Modern Warzone also reports this game is codenamed Call of Duty WW2: Vanguard, and reports the name will be changed in the future. While this may indeed be the case, Eurogamer understands Activision's current plan is to stick with the Vanguard subtitle for the final version.Modern Warzone also reports "the entire game takes place in an alternate timeline where 1945 wasn't the end of World War 2", and is set in the 1950s. Eurogamer understands this detail isn't quite right, and Vanguard has a traditional WW2 setting. An open question is whether Vanguard is set for integration with Warzone. Black Ops Cold War was announced within Warzone, and its integration into the battle royale, while suffering from significant problems, clearly boosted sales of Treyarch's shooter. With Warzone set for a cataclysmic zombie-fuelled nuke event in the near future, one that reportedly will usher in a significant '80s-themed map change for Verdansk, the question is this: is Warzone set for a WW2-themed change in the future, too?Rogue -  What do you think of the WW2 alternate timeline?Entertainment News - This next segment brought to you by Us! Things however don't look great on that front. From cinema blendDuring an interview with Variety, WarnerMedia Studios CEO Ann Sarnoff was asked if following the arrival of Zack Snyder's Justice League, will more DCEU director's cuts be released, with David Ayer's cut of Suicide Squad specifically being mentioned. Sarnoff responded: We won't be developing David Ayer's cut.Well, that's a devastating blow to the #ReleaseTheAyerCut movement, which started gaining in traction back in May 2020 after Zack Snyder's Justice League was announced. Like the Snyder Cut, there are plenty of differences between what unfolded in David Ayer's original version of Suicide Squad and what was presented in the theatrical cut, ranging from more scenes featuring Jared Leto's Joker to a badass fight sequence between Katana and the rest of Task Force X. While the theatrical cut was commercially successful and later won the Academy Award for Best Makeup and Hairstyling, its critical reception left a lot to be desired.David Ayer has been supportive of the efforts to getting the Ayer Cut released to the public, saying last November that his version of Suicide Squad was “ripped to pieces” as a result of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice being “chewed up by the critics” and the success of Deadpool. This resulted in Suicide Squad being changed from a “soulful drama” to a more comedic story. Ayer confirmed on numerous occasions that the director's cut of Suicide Squad exists, and urged fans to ask AT&T and HBO Max (which you can sign up for with this link) to “let it see the sunlight.” it's possible that WarnerMedia's unwillingness to release the Ayer Cut boils down to two reasons. One, although the #ReleaseTheAyerCut movement is obviously filled with passionate fans, its ranks haven't grown as big as the Snyder Cut fanbase. Two, while there are no more Justice League movies planned for the immediate future (although the #RestoreTheSnyderVerseMovement is well underway), Task Force X is sticking around the cinematic realm, with James Gunn having written and directed The Suicide Squad. So perhaps WB isn't keen on releasing the Ayer Cut to the masses because it doesn't want to draw attention away from the property ushering in a new era.Beard - It seems the move from dvd/bluray to streaming has hurt the Directors  cut/ commentary scene. Why do you think studios wouldnt want more of their content out there?Ghost of Tsushima Movie From John Wick Director in Development Last years Breakout Game is getting a Big screen adaptation from the Director of the John Wick films. From IGNSony Pictures and PlayStation Productions are developing a film adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima, with John Wick director Chad Stahelski attached to helm.According to a new report from Deadline, Stahelski will work alongside producers Alex Young and Jason Spitz with their company 87Eleven Entertainment. Peter Kang of game developer Sucker Punch Productions will oversee the project on behalf of the studio, which will serve as executive producers. The film is set to adapt Ghost of Tsushima's story, which follows the journey of samurai warrior Jin Sakai as he fights for the freedom of the isle of Tsushima.“We're excited to be partnering with Chad and 87Eleven Entertainment, to bring their vision of Jin's story to the big screen," said Asad Qizilbash, Head of PlayStation Productions. "We love working with creative partners like Chad, who have a passion for our games, ensuring we can create rich adaptations that will excite our fans and new audiences.”Stahelski has been the long-term helmer of the John Wick series of highly-popular action movies, and is set to return for the upcoming John Wick 4, currently aiming for a 2022 release. It's currently unclear how far into development the Ghost of Tsushima movie is, and so there's no date yet confirmed for shooting or release.Tighe -  Do you think this will be a hyper violent move in that it's being directed by A John Wick alum?https://kotaku.com/australian-government-officials-anime-figures-joker-st-1846541409/amp?__twitter_impression=true Bad news for Weebs considering a run for office in Australia. from KotakuAn Australian government official's display of pop culture, comics and anime figurines in their office has been declared a ‘psychological hazard', according to a statement from the Comcare government agency. The bizarre intersection of public servant and waifu figurines entered the national consciousness last year. Around 20 figurines were reportedly displayed in the office of Gerard Boyce, who remains the deputy president of the Fair Work Commission, and the figures had become the subject of debate at a Senate Estimates hearing. Some members of the Fair Work Commission questioned whether the figurines would “undermine trust in the professionalism” of the Commission at the time, and the deputy president was forced to remove at least one of the figurines. It's not clear exactly what was removed, but the Sydney Morning Herald reported that some of the figures included Scarlett Johansson's representation of the Major Ghost in the Shell, a figurine of Jared Leto's Joker, along with Harley Quinn in fishnets, and Captain America. Imagine caring what someone else displays in their own office.Rogue - Do you think this sort of attitude will change as my generation and yours start to get to the politics age? BOLD PREDICTIONS  Plug your stuff.Zazzaboo plug the site, Pod etc Don't forget to check out the patreon. Thanks and we will see you next week!★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Welcome back for our massive 20th episode! After catching up on a few updates since the last episode surrounding how to say Stahelski, and Star Trek's future, the guys decide if Fast and Furious should go to space and if the 10th film should be called "FAST10 Your Seatbelts." We talk about future movies for actors Neve Campbell, Ryan Gosling, and directors David Leitch, and M. Night. The need for a Borat sequel nearly 15 years after the last movie, pointless prequels to Disney "live action films" no one wants, and more remakes, reboots, and retakes including Firestarter, Fresh Prince, Conan, and the sequels to Avatar that will arrive eventually. We somehow ended up with a month of video game related stories all at once, including news on the Tomb Raider sequel with Alica Vikander, the return of Mortal Kombat's actors in a surprising possible way, Sega's Yakuza, more Resident Evil with a newly announced live action film and new CG Netflix show - different than the other live action Netflix show, Paul W.S. Anderson's new Monster Hunter movie that Ryan thinks is just Resident Evil again, and the disappointing lack of a mustache on Mark Wahlberg in Uncharted. Tom Cruise appears again, both in regards to him and director Doug Liman being booked to head to the ISS next year and later in the discussion, all about the mad stunts Cruise and the team on the new MI films are doing. We discuss the Emmys that no one watched, Sam Elliot and Jared Padalecki casting in new roles, and several Disney Plus shows with Samuel L Jackson's Nick Fury, plus She Hulk, Ms. Marvel, Falcon & The Winter Solider, and Loki all being talking points. Plus updates on the insect heroes Ant Man and Spider-man. Speaking of heroes, Chris Evans has tough words about whoever punched Rick Moranis in New York, while Ryan Reynolds has thoughts on this also as well as Dwayne Johnson's gate before we look into the DC updates including Ryan's favorite topic of Zack Snyder's Justice League (which Rob would like Zack Snyder to blow up also). The guys consider if Fantastic Beasts should end at the third film, numerous delays, and cancellations of productions - mostly due to the continuing covid production issues, plus yet another month's worth of delays to release dates films and when they're now all scheduled to arrive. We look at Cineworld/Regal closing for the rest of the year, but more interestingly what this has all meant for all the corn and peanuts for movie theaters and sporting events. After the covid content, we touch on the in memoriam section, and then follow up with trailer talk including WandaVision, The Mandolorian Season 2, Dune... or is it Doon, Borat 2, Hubie Halloween, Freaky, The Witches, The Craft: Legacy, Totally Under Control, Belushi, The 365, and Free Guy. Finally, the guys wrap up this massive episode with talk about visiting the cinemas again to see Bill and Ted Face The Music (as well as seeing movies in an otherwise empty theater) and a good discussion on the Karate Kid follow up, formerly YouTube Red now on Neflix series, Cobra Kai. Please like, subscribe, share, and enjoy! And as always many thanks to Martin (Rammy) for his wonderful work on our graphics, www.rammy.at

Here we are folks, a movie franchise about a man who is on an unstoppable rampage of revenge, full of bloody violence - and we love it. We want more! In this film, John Wick (Keanu Reeves) is stripped of all protections by the mysterious High Table and is forced to go on the rule, while his former allies are investigated by the Adjudicator (Asia Kate Dillon).  Also lots of dudes die.  Stevie and Emmet talk director Chad Stahelski's emphasis on stuntcraft, connections with other films - and the appearance of the one, the only, Jason Mantzoukas. Join our hosts this week as they muse over the third instalment in Chad Stahelski's John Wick series. As usual when discussing movie franchises, the boys open it up to talk about the series as a whole and a healthy amount of attention is paid to parts 1 and 2. Conversational tangents include mangled impressions of Lance Reddick, mangled non-binary pronouns and the video game Quantum Break.  *apologies folks, mic trouble means one half of our hosts sounds like he has a bucket over his head this episode. Next week we rub our lamps over Guy Ritchie's Aladdin.

The Filmlosophers, Eddie Villanueva, Chad Riley and Spencer Williams, scramble to find weapons in every corner with this week's review of John Wick Chapter 3: Parabellum (2019). The adrenaline-fueled “gun fu” action flick closes out the first trilogy of Chad Stahelski's relentless series with stars Keanu Reeves, Halle Berry, Laurence Fishburne, Anjelica Huston and Ian McShane. Parabellum continues the saga of titular character John Wick's merc marathon run as he tries to elude death from every assassin in the world after being declared “excommunicado” by the High Table. With a fourth chapter already green-lit, it's obvious that the film series is here for the long haul...but can you stomach the violence long enough to reach the end?

John Wick (retrospectively known as John Wick: Chapter 1) is a 2014 American neo-noir action thriller film directed by Chad Stahelski and written by Derek Kolstad. It stars Keanu Reeves, Michael Nyqvist, Alfie Allen, Adrianne Palicki, Bridget Moynahan, Dean Winters, Ian McShane, John Leguizamo, and Willem Dafoe. It is the first installment in the John Wick film series. SCENE: Red Circle Club Rampage Scene (https://youtu.be/CTJlmlZWWHA) The story focuses on John Wick (Reeves), searching for the men who broke into his home, stole his vintage car and killed his puppy, which serves as a memento of his recently deceased wife (Moynahan).[6] Stahelski and David Leitch directed the film together, though only Stahelski was credited.[1] Kolstad had completed the screenplay in 2012 and further developed it for Thunder Road Pictures.[7] The film was produced by Basil Iwanyk of Thunder Road Pictures, Leitch, Eva Longoria, and Michael Witherill. It marks Stahelski and Leitch's directorial debut as a team after multiple separate credits as second-unit directors and stunt coordinators. They previously worked with Reeves as stunt doubles on The Matrix trilogy.[8] Stahelski and Leitch's approach to action scenes drew upon their admiration for anime[9] and

“Your world creation is a visual. I want the audience from pretty much right off the bat to know you're in a different reality, so you're going to see some weird stuff. You're going to see dogs and horses and gun-fu and karate and ninjas on motorcycles” says ‘John Wick' Director Chad Stahelski as he discusses crafting the visual palate of the third installment in the Keanu Reeves-led action series “John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum.” The ‘John Wick' series has introduced audiences to such a distinct world that only seems to expand with each entry. Stahelski and cinematographer Dan Lausten challenged themselves to perfect the look of ‘John Wick' by leaning heavily into lighting techniques so audiences can lose themselves in the environment created. Stahelski states, “…we want you to almost reach into the screen and feel the colors and taste them and smell them and be very very involved with the look of the film, and I think that's what kind of separates us just from - we're not actually trying to be rough and tumble and super serious.” While his world building techniques - for which Stahelski attributes his success to working with the Wachowski's and love of international cinema - and striking visuals continue to entrance audiences in, the ‘Wick' Director and his stunt team know viewers want to see jaw-dropping action spectacle. ‘Parabellum's' most challenging set piece no only involves the series' intricate choreography but features an incredible amount of moving parts that range from tracking shots to the use of dogs. “It took us nearly a year to bring that sequence to life. Finding the animals that had the physical and mental aptitude that we wanted, the personalities that we needed to bond the stunt team, the camera team, the rest of the crew, and our cast” stated Stahelski. He then went on to discuss specifically Halle Berry's intense 5-month training with the dogs, whom she would spend 3 hours a day, 5-6 days a week with. In so doing, when we see Berry commanding the dogs on screen, it is, in fact, her giving the orders. That's only a small taste of how Chad Stahelski broke down the magic of ‘John Wick 3'. During our conversation we discussed Stahelski's inspiration for crafting unique action sequences, what the future holds for John moving forward with the series, the status of his upcoming “Highlander” reboot and Ed Brubaker's “Kill or Be Killed” live-action adaptation, recent “Matrix 4” comments, and much more. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/theplaylist/message

The Filmlosophers, Eddie Villanueva and Chad Riley, review Disney's Moana (2016), a non-Pixar animated tale with a colorful cast of characters and a distinctly mythological bent. Featuring song lyrics from Broadway star Lin-Manuel Miranda and starring newcomer Auli'i Cravalho as Moana alongside Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as demigod Maui, the film offers a refreshingly modern take on the well-honed Disney model of filmmaking. Other news items include reports of a Highlander remake from John Wick and John Wick 2 director Chad Stahelski, and an exciting casting announcement for Marvel's Black Panther film as it adds Angela Bassett in a key role.
