Originally, I planned to record a quick episode to talk about the upcoming Retail Email Bootcamp and let you know that the calendars in the Savvy Shopkeeper planners start now. However, I first want to acknowledge the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, particularly in states like North Carolina, Florida, and Georgia. The images and stories coming out of these areas are heartbreaking, and as a brand that deeply values supporting the small business community, I knew I had to act. After receiving an email from Heart on Main Street, a non-profit that specializes in helping retailers in devastated communities, I decided to donate 50% of all revenue from bootcamp ticket and Savvy Shopkeeper planner sales this week to their Hurricane Helene donation drive. If you're interested in the Retail Email Bootcamp, which is happening October 7-9 with replay access for 60 days, now is a great time to grab your spot and support a good cause at the same time. You can also help by purchasing a planner, knowing that 50% of the revenue will go directly to helping other store owners rebuild. Together, we can make a difference. IN THIS EPISODE WE'LL DISCUSS...Protecting the young - Getting all 'Cowboy'How can Jessica smile so deeply even though she's been through so much?Breaking Cycles of VictimizationRedeeming your suffering - repurposing your pain Jessica Midkiff is a survivor of sex trafficking. There are few who are as strong and as uniquely resilient as she is. She has conquered so much and endured over ten years of oppressive abuse and traumatic exploitation. Her personal knowledge and accomplishment in escaping it are beyond significant, and second to none. "By the time I was nine years old they were men coming in and out of my house who were trying to sleep with me and trying to get different sexual favors from me.""The pimp who kidnapped me branded me like I was his slave, and it was done against my will. I received this tattoo when I wasn't sure if I was going to get killed that night or not. I felt new levels of fear as I went completely numb during this process. This demeaning symbol of ownership made it clear to me that my life is no longer my own. I had a profound feeling of being stuck and unable to move. One thing I was sure of the night I received it was I didn't want to die and I would do whatever I had to do in order to live."For more information on supporting Jessica's cause - CLICK HEREFor those interested in connecting with me for a Business/Life Strategic Consultation (45min.) no charge, no-strings-attached - simply CLICK HEREFor those interested in connecting with me for a Virtual Coffee (20 min.) - simply CLICK HEREEnjoy the show.
