Simone Biles arrancó ayer su reconquista olímpica al conducir al combinado estadounidense hacia el oro por equipos en gimnasia artística en París-2024, con el que sumó su quinto título en unos Juegos y el primero tras la pesadilla de Tokio. Recuperada de la amarga experiencia de hace tres años, una sonriente Biles volvió a subir a lo más alto del podio tras una final que dominaron las estadounidenses y donde la plata fue para Italia y el bronce de Brasil, que logró la primera medalla por equipos en su historia en la gimnasia. Con este oro, que EEUU perdió en Tokio en favor de las rusas -ausentes en París-, Biles da el primer paso para recuperar el imperio olímpico que construyó en Rio de Janeiro-2016, cuando el mundo descubrió lo que los gimnastas ya sabían desde hacía tiempo; que aquella deportista menuda y enérgica no era como los demás. Pero el camino para volver a la cima no ha sido fácil para una Biles que, con 27 años, llegó a París con otra forma de estar en la élite, tras desentrañar el bloqueo mental que le atenazó en Tokio. "Ahora soy mucho más mayor, tenemos más experiencia y salimos a disfrutar lo que estamos haciendo. Es diferente", explicó Biles al comparar este éxito con el de 2016. Por otro lado, el agua del Sena era de "muy buena" calidad en el plano bacteriológico durante las pruebas de triatlón el miércoles, indicó hoy el Comité de Organización de los Juegos Olímpicos (COJO) al desvelar los resultados de las muestras, que precisan de 24 horas. para conocerse. "Las muestras recogidas ayer entre las 5 y las 6 de la mañana mostraron niveles de E.Coli -la más problemática de las dos bacterias fecales que se tienen en cuenta para dar luz verde o no a las competiciones en aguas abiertas- entre 192 y 308" unidades formadoras de colonias por mililitro (UFC/ml), dijo Anne Descamps, portavoz del COJO, durante una rueda de prensa. Esos resultados son "considerados como muy buenos por World Triathlon", la federación internacional, que dio luz verde a la prueba olímpica en el Sena.
