Who knew you could have so much drama around a little hunk of (fake) cheese? Disgusting foods. Cultural dishes. Guinea pig: Pets or meat?
Ivey Gruber, President of the Michigan Talk Network, highlights the Democrats' ongoing strategy of pushing the narrative that Donald Trump is constantly up to no good, running smear campaigns at every opportunity. She exposes how these political attacks are designed to distract and manipulate public opinion. The discussion also turns to the growing wave of “fake food,” with Bill Gates' latest announcement of fake butter raising fresh concerns about what's ending up on America's plates.
In this wide-ranging and sharp-tongued segment, hosts break down the latest inflation numbers—clocking in at 2.7%—and expose the media's manipulative framing while questioning Jerome Powell's motives for keeping interest rates high. The conversation then pivots to Trump's push to dismantle the Department of Education, highlighting a historic legal battle over federal spending and constitutional authority. Finally, the show takes an unexpected turn into America's food supply, celebrating a win for public health as ice cream companies begin removing toxic artificial dyes—chemicals still banned in Europe but widely used in the U.S. A fiery, funny, and illuminating take on policy, politics, and petrochemical popsicles.
Consumer Affairs Correspondent Aengus Cox discusses the rise in counterfeit food
In this episode, I sit down with Matthew Lysiak, a nationally recognized investigative journalist and author of Fiat Food: Why Inflation Destroyed Our Health and How Bitcoin Fixes It. Together, we unpack how inflation has silently undermined our health. ––– Offers & Discounts –––

Are plant-based meats ultra-processed, synthetic junk? Or is factory-farmed meat the real chemistry experiment? In this episode, I break down the biggest myth about plant-based meats—the idea that they're somehow "fake" compared to conventional meat. After my brother-in-law smugly called my veggie burger “synthetic,” I did some digging… and let's just say, the irony is delicious. We'll look at what's actually in plant-based meats, whether they count as ultra-processed foods, and—most importantly—what factory-farmed animals are pumped full of to keep them growing unnaturally fast. Spoiler alert: It's not vitamins and love. So, if you've ever had to defend your plant-based choices against someone eating hormone-fed, antibiotic-soaked meat, this one's for you. From food deserts to ultra-processed flavor deception, Jessica Wynn maps out America's nutritional divide and corporate food games on Skeptical Sunday! Welcome to Skeptical Sunday, a special edition of The Jordan Harbinger Show where Jordan and a guest break down a topic that you may have never thought about, open things up, and debunk common misconceptions. This time around, we’re joined by Jessica Wynn! On This Week's Skeptical Sunday, We Discuss: Imagine your body as an ancient supercomputer, humming along with software that's been fine-tuned over millions of years. Then suddenly, ultra-processed foods show up like a sketchy software update, introducing code your system never evolved to handle. The result? Your internal operating system goes haywire, consuming 500 extra calories daily even when the nutritional "specs" look identical on paper. Remember that Italian restaurant scene in Goodfellas? Well, the real food mafia (yes, the actual "Agromafia") is less about fancy dinners and more about fancy fraud. They're orchestrating a culinary shell game where your exotic $35 "Chilean Sea Bass" is actually $7 Costco tilapia in disguise, and your "extra virgin" olive oil might have a considerably less virtuous past. That plant-based burger patty might be wearing a hemp necklace and preaching about sustainability, but underneath its eco-friendly costume lurks an ultra-processed food wolf in sheep's clothing. It's the dietary equivalent of greenwashing — solving one problem while potentially creating a lab full of new ones. Picture 40 million Americans living in food deserts — urban landscapes where fresh produce is as rare as a unicorn sighting. These nutritional wastelands force folks to survive on a diet of convenience store cuisine, creating a tragic cycle where the most affordable food options are often the ones most likely to compromise health. It's a modern-day dietary dystopia. Here's the silver lining, food adventurers! Think of your grocery store as a game board: The real treasures are hidden along the perimeter — that's where the fresh produce, meats, and dairy hang out like nutritional VIPs. Stick to the edges, and you'll dodge the ultra-processed center like a dietary ninja. Want to level up? Grind your own coffee beans, befriend your local farmers market vendors, and remember: every whole food purchase is a vote for a healthier food system. You might be wondering, “Melissa, how am I supposed to find the energy to reawaken my imagination and then actually bring my ideas to life—for my business, my family, or even just for myself?” I know the feeling well. It can seem like I'm on one wavelength, while so many moms out there in business are on another. My heart's wish for you is simple: to wake up each day with renewed energy, excited enough about your vision to leap into action—maybe even brave enough to go live on social media! Imagine a world where your passion for your business sustains and energizes you. That's been my mission since I wrote Fertile Imagination, yet I know many of you are still searching for the spark, still yearning for a way to get out of bed with fresh ideas and the energy to make them real. This is why, in this minisode series, I'm stepping away from my usual interview format to focus on the essentials of health. Without good health, there's nothing I—or anyone else—can say that will magically give you the energy you need to bring your best ideas into the world. In this bite-sized series, I'm diving into four pillars of health that I discuss in Fertile Imagination, each crucial for reclaiming your energy and sparking your imagination: Nourishing Food: There's a profound connection between what you eat and how you feel. Nourishing your body with whole, nutrient-dense foods fuels your vitality. When you choose real food over processed options, you'll find yourself feeling more energized and focused. Energizing Movement: Adding regular movement into your day isn't just for physical health; it also invigorates your mind and boosts creativity. Even short bursts of activity can enhance your clarity, mood, and energy, empowering you to face challenges with renewed vigor. Restorative Sleep: Quality sleep is non-negotiable for keeping up your energy and mental sharpness. Restorative sleep allows your body and mind to recharge, boosting your productivity and creativity. By prioritizing sleep, you're setting yourself up for success each day. Emotional Unloading: Managing stress is essential to freeing up energy. Whether it's through mindfulness, journaling, or a quiet moment to yourself, releasing emotional weight helps you approach your work with clarity and resilience. In last week's minisode, I introduced the topic of “Health Scares” and shared a story about Gil, who experienced a career-stopping stroke ten years ago. If you missed it, be sure to catch up. Today, I want to explore the idea of “fake vs. real food.” It's baffling, really—many of us, myself included, know better but still struggle to make the healthiest choices. Remember, you're in control of your health, and that's a message I want to reach your kids, too. I'm also extending a special invitation to my listeners for a limited-time, free 30-minute Energy Audit Session. During this call, we'll take a closer look at where you stand in terms of food, movement, sleep, and mental health. Why? Because your health is the foundation of your success. I believe that by sharing my journey with you, I can empower you to prioritize yours. This energy audit is especially for moms who want to make today their January 1—a fresh start. Let's build the health foundation that will help you pursue your wealth and happiness with renewed energy. Sign up today: https://www.melissallarena.com/sessions/ Side note: the ingrediant that I do mention in this minisode is linked to these things so be sure to have a listen especially if you have a ton of Halloween candy around your house. Allergic Reactions: Some people experience allergic responses to this additive, especially those with asthma or aspirin sensitivities. Reactions can include hives, itching, and, in rare cases, difficulty breathing. Hyperactivity in Children: Studies have shown that this and other artificial food dyes may be associated with increased hyperactivity in children, especially those with ADHD. This has led to calls for its removal from certain products aimed at children. Migraines: This additive has been linked to migraines in some individuals. People with a sensitivity to this dye may experience headaches or migraines after consuming foods or drinks containing it. Potential Hormonal Disruption: Some research suggests that artificial food dyes, including this one, may interfere with hormone function, although more studies are needed to confirm this effect. Digestive Issues: Sensitive individuals might experience digestive symptoms such as bloating, cramps, or nausea after consuming products containing this additive. Oh to add insult to injury this ingredient requires a warning label if included in food in other parts of the world. Book mark this episode and get educated around this.
