The Generations Radio Program

American federal debt is growing faster than the GDP now. This year, the debt-to-GDP ratio stands at 121 percent. . . about fifth worst in the world. Interest payments on the federal debt have topped 36 percent of total tax receipts. And all of this has its roots in the Keynesian philosophies of the early 1920's and 30's. The present-orientedness, existentialism, and the ideology of Jean-Paul Sartre and John Maynard Keynes are what ran the 20th century and helped produce what we have today. So how much character would it require to reverse the worldview that has soaked our respective nations over the last 50-60 years? How much long-term vision would it take to turn the nation around? Probably a little more than what Elon Musk and Scott Bessett can offer. We review President Trump's pick for Secretary of the Treasury and revisit the history of modern economics on this edition of the program. This program includes: 1. The Worldview in 5 Minutes with Adam McManus (Kamala's bizarre video to supporters; TV channel fined for stating that abortion is leading death cause; Hal Lindsey, author of "The Late Great Planet Earth," died at 95) 2. Generations with Kevin Swanson

Peter St Onge is an Economist at the Heritage Foundation and a Fellow at the Mises Institute. In this interview, we discuss the differences between Keynesian and Austrian economics, the role of marketing in shaping public opinion, and the potential of Bitcoin to displace central banks and cut off one of the main channels that governments use to seize people's resources. - - - - Keynesian economics developed in the wake of the Great Depression of the 1930s. Its aim was to stabilise the volatility caused by market forces through the application of government and central bank resources. Its critics state it has opened up a range of tools that governments have exploited for short-term gain, whilst building up ever greater problems for future generations. Keynes was mocked by major contemporary figures. Winston Churchill, who didn't believe that state borrowing and expenditure could provide permanent additional employment, famously once said “If you put two economists in a room, you get two opinions, unless one of them is Lord Keynes, in which case you get three opinions.” And yet, governments, on both sides of the political debate, seem to be currently addicted to greater monetary and fiscal interventions in the economy than at any time since the 1930s. Such actions started in 2008, but have continued apace since. They are a major factor in why global debt now stands at an eye-watering $305 trillion. Hayek, the famous Austrian economist, foresaw the coming crisis, concluding that monetary policy only does harm to an economy. In 1976 he called for the denationalisation of money. In a famous 1984 interview, he stated “I don't believe that we should ever have a good money again before we take the thing out of the hands of government… all we can do is by some sly or roundabout way introduce something they can't stop.” Hayek essentially foresaw Bitcoin. Unsurprisingly, Bitcoin's trajectory, as an incorruptible digital hard money, started as the deflated global economy was patched up with Keynesian policies in 2009. Over 14 years later, as these policies become ever more unsustainable, it seems like we're on the cusp of a swing of mainstream opinion away from Keynesian policies, to policies predicated on Austrian economic principles. And Bitcoin could be the centre of this new paradigm.

Austerity is a potent weapon of class warfare. Political economist David Fields talks with Steve about the ways austerity serves to discipline labor, as it has been doing since the Bolshevik revolution. They touch on the reasons capitalism cannot risk full employment, as explained by both Karl Marx and Michal Kalecki.David wants people to read Adam Smith's The Wealth of Nations or The Theory of Moral Sentiments. Even Smith, the father of the “invisible hand,” said government is instituted for the security of property — for the rich against the poor. The discussion touches on the current inflation, comparing the true causes to the mainstream narrative.“There's been a very coordinated, calculated campaign with well-known economists. Call it neoliberalism. Call it what you want, financialization... The concepts, terms, economic principles that we take for granted are not value-neutral.”We are embedded in a system of winners and losers and we're meant to believe there's no other way. Workers must be prevented from understanding the trifecta of austerity – fiscal, monetary, and industrial.Bio: David M. Fields, Political Economist, Utah. From a critical realist & genetic structuralist ontology & epistemology, David's scholarly work centers on the intricacies concerning the interactions of foreign exchange & capital flows with economic growth, fiscal & monetary policy, and distribution, whereby attention is paid to the nature of money and international political economy. He has published in the following journals: Review of International Political Economy, Review of Political Economy, American Review of Political Economy, the Review of Keynesian Economics, and the Review of Radical Political Economics. Additionally, he has provided book chapter contributions to The Encyclopedia of Post-Keynesian Economics, The Encyclopedia of Central Banking, and the Wiley-Blackwell Encyclopedia of Globalization. Watch this on YouTube! Nic from New Gen Mindset give us the rundown on the difference between Austrian and Keynesian Economics. Austrians believe that there should be no government intervention in market prices, and there are natural up and down cycles. Keynesians believe that there should be government intervention in market price regulation. This results in massive bubbles, like the one we are in today. Check out Nic's website here. John Foster joins me to talk about how he teaches Austrian Economics to middle schoolers. Our world is run based on Keynesian Economics, where governments pump money into economies to stimulate and manipulate them at the cost of their own currency. The Austrian Economics model is a description of how the world really works and how value creation is what drives economies.  Austrian Economic theory shows the consequences of manipulating interest rates, why trying to make a profit is not morally wrong, and how the cost of base products drives sales prices – and not the other way around (Labor Theory Value).  That's why John started Middle School MBA, and built the 3D models “LinKē” and “BlinKē” to make these critical life skills simple enough for 10-year-olds to understand.  John walks through the LinKē 3D model (Linear Comprehensive Economics), showing the flow from raw materials to price formation and back again. It also shows what happens after money is taken from the public and kept in the government sector.  Understanding how the real world really works and what money actually is are the keys to creating success in your own life. This episode is about how to keep the world free by spreading the truth of Austrian Economics.  Check out John's 3D models: https://www.middleschoolmba.com/ - Follow John Foster on Twitter https://twitter.com/middleschoolmba - Subscribe to Practical Liberty: https://www.youtube.com/@PracticalLibertyPod/ Follow me on Twitter: https://twitter.com/henrybing Follow me on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/henryirl/    If you'd like to work with me one-on-one, there are three options:  https://www.henrybingaman.com/consulting/   Use this tactical checklist to free yourself from the Machine: https://www.henrybingaman.com/liberty #austrianeconomics #freemarket

In urban spaces throughout the country, app-based ridesharing platforms like Uber and Lyft have a greater impact on the economy than what meets the eye. For years, these services were rarely regulated, and there were minimal protections in place for individuals driving for the companies. In recent years, states such as New York and California have become vocal in their crusades to regulate the app-based economy, including California’s keystone statute Assembly Bill 5. In the previous episode of this two-part series, host Dennis Wisco introduced key policies at play and delved into the Classical Economic interpretation of the impact of California Assembly Bill 5 on the economy. Listen in as Dennis outlines key elements of Keynesian Economics, and how it applies to the regulation of the gig economy. Keynesian economic theory is a school of thought developed by British economist John Maynard Keynes in the 1930s that supposes the totality of spending in the economy, and its impact on output and inflation. Essentially, Keynes argued that a healthy economy depends on the government to regulate, balance, and manage economic opportunity. In his 1936 book, The General Theory of Employment, Interest, and Money, Keynes discusses the idea of “perfect competition,” which exists in a close-to-ideal economic society. Under this model, the government is flooded with money in order to create economic opportunities. Therefore, the Keynesian model argues against the California App-Based Driver’s Regulation Initiative in order to keep AB-5 in effect and thus allow the government to continue to regulate the gig-based economy’s labor protections as they relate to app-based drivers. Tune in to this episode to hear excerpts from Keynes’ book and how this theory applies to current policy. Dennis describes the line in the sand between the Classical and Keynesian perspectives as they relate to California Assembly Bill 5 and protections for app-based drivers. John Rubino and Eric Coffin return. Nick Appleyard visits for the first time. The world has bought the Keynesian notion that earthly paradise can be engineered by excessive consumption, zero savings and debt-based money created magically by central bankers. Central bankers have complied so much that the dollar based financial system is turning insolvent. Burdened by an inability to service debt, Central bankers' only answer for short term survival is to destroy the existing monetary system longer term, by driving interest rates into negative territory. The system simply can't finance debt at higher rates. But the nice thing about mass financial delusion is that it offers a target-rich investment environment for the non-delusional. John will lead us into that target-rich environment for survival in the tumultuous world that lies ahead. Eric will share some of his thoughts in the junior mining space and Nick will introduce Tristar Gold that owns very undervalued gold deposit in Brazil.
