Tonight, we'll read from Cat's Tales by Edith Nesbit, a collection of stories centered on the lives and antics of cats. If you enjoy this episode, be sure to check out the other “Cat Tales” episode that aired in September 2021, and also the fairy tale “The White Cat” that aired in July of 2020. Known for her sharp observations and straightforward storytelling, Nesbit presents these tales with a mix of realism and subtle irony, capturing the independence and inscrutability of her feline subjects. The stories reflect her ability to balance light fantasy with practical detail, a hallmark of her work. Edith Nesbit, born 1858, was a British writer and poet best known for her children's fiction, including The Railway Children and Five Children and It. A co-founder of the Fabian Society, she was politically engaged and influenced later fantasy writers with her blend of everyday settings and magical elements. — read by 'V' — Sign up for Snoozecast+ to get expanded, ad-free access by going to snoozecast.com/plus! My guest this week is Katie Healy Nolan, whose life is chaotic but filled with gratitude, as she parents her five young children, ages 8 down to just six weeks. Her eldest child, her daughter Penelope, is living with a life-limiting illness and requires 24-hour care, with Katie provides, as she says herself "with a heart and a half". Katie and her husband Dave also parent their four boys, while advocating for the care their eldest needs. Penelope's illness is extremely rare and therefore isn't straightforward when it comes to accessing the supports she needs. Katie, through all of this, remains astoundingly positive, and is an absolute hero as far as I'm concerned, as she talks about how lucky and grateful she is to be able to have her family, and how a big family was always on the cards for both herself and her husband. Having survived the terrorist attack in the Bataclan in Paris back in 2015 which killed 130 people, Katie says her perspective on life is a little bit different and is grateful to have the choice to keep going, where so many others didn't and don't. A truly uplifting episode. Enjoy it, and I'll be back with the season finale next week. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

If you have ever considered (or are now considering) adopting a child (or multiple children), this is the conversation for you! Rebbetzin Chavie Bruk, and her husband, Rabbi Chaim Bruk, founded Chabad Lubavitch of Montana in Bozeman, in 2007. Soon afterward, Rebbetzin Chavie was diagnosed with infertility. She was 23 years old. During our discussion, Rebbetzin Chavie shares her story about what it was like for her to adopt five children; how she felt when she adopted her first child, and why she and her husband decided to adopt more children. She tells us not to limit Hashem (G-d.) He is capable of giving to us in abundance. We should never decide for Hashem what He will give us or how much He will give us. Rebbetzin Chavie also opens up about the ups and downs of motherhood, and how raising adopted children is different that raising biological children. She tells us that every parent has a unique situation, so we shouldn't compare and despair. Instead, we should find a support group of people who are going through something similar to us so that we can be strengthened by each other's support. Rebbetzin Chavie has a fun blog called, Clear As Mud, which can be found by clicking this link: https://www.totallyunexpected.blog/ She also has a podcast called Totally Unexpected, which you can listen to on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, and everywhere else that podcasts are found. Today's guest is Joshua Sheats. Joshua is an expert financial planner who teaches normal people how to seamlessly connect the science of financial planning with the joy of goal achievement. He is the host of the Radical Personal Finance podcast and, as you'll hear in this episode, is also passionate about education and worldschooling with his five children. Since Joshua has discussed finance on over 1,000 episodes of his podcast, today, Joshua and I begin a three-part series in which we discuss everything but finance. In this conversation, we dive into Joshua's approach to educating his five children while travelling the world. TODAY'S CONVERSATION WITH JOSHUA SHEATS Learn about Joshua's own educational upbringing, which included an eclectic mix of homeschooling, public school, a private Christian school and a traditional university. Hear about the “conspiracy theory” Joshua uncovered about the insidious nature of government school systems. Listen to Joshua describe the “knowledge gap” between the United States and China and what it means for their respective approaches to education. Discover why Joshua has come to believe that education is always religious in nature Hear Joshua explain how raising five children taught him there is no such thing as “one size fits all” parenting advice or educational method. Listen in as Joshua describes how relationships are built on “the currency of time” and why time spent with children early on is so critical to character development. Discover how Joshua learned how to create a controlled, positive environment around technology, which has encouraged his children to use it for positive, educational purposes. By the end of the episode, you'll understand why Joshua and I both want to “have it all” when it comes to raising our children and why you can legit have it all, too. True Crime Podcast 2024 - REAL Police Interrogations, 911 Calls, True Police Stories and True Crime
Tim Jones - Confesses to Killing his Five Children Full Length Police Interrogation Tim Jones confesses to killing his five children in interview audio played during trial In an audio recording of a police interview played during the trial of Tim Jones contains his confession of killing his five children. LEXINGTON COUNTY, S.C. (WIS) - After more than three weeks of testimony, a jury has reached a verdict in the trial of Timothy Jones, Jr., a Lexington County man accused of murdering his five children in 2014. The jury concluded that Jones has been found guilty on all five counts of murder in the deaths of his children. The second phase of the proceedings is the sentencing phase and that will begin at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday. Because the state is seeking the death penalty, the jury is now responsible for determining his punishment. The jury had four options for their verdict: guilty, guilty but mentally ill, not guilty by reason of insanity, or not guilty. Jones pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity. A grand jury indicted Jones, Jr. in 2014 on five counts of murder in the deaths of his children – Mera, 8; Elias, 7; Nahtahn, 6; Gabriel, 2; and Abigail, 1. For Mera, Elias, Gabriel, and Abigail, the indictments state the children were killed “by means of strangulation and/or other violent means or instruments.” The bodies of the children were found in garbage bags off of a dirt road in Alabama. Jones, Jr. led authorities to the bodies after being arrested in Mississippi. Jones, who appeared to be under the influence at the time of his arrest, was questioned at the checkpoint by a Smith County, Miss. deputy about an odor of chemicals coming from his vehicle. After further investigation, the deputy found what appeared to be chemicals used to make meth and a street drug known as “Spice.” Investigators also said his Cadillac Escalade was blood-soaked and “smelled of death.”
A fire in a Bullhead City home over the weekend left five children dead. KTAR Reporter Jim Cross shares what he knows about the circumstances behind the fire.

“Grown-up people find it very difficult to believe really wonderful things, unless they have what they call proof.” We join Cyril, Anthea, Jane, Robert (aka Bob), and the baby (aka the Lamb) as they explore and discover a wish granting Psammed (aka ancient sand fairy). However, every wish backfires on the fivesome in many humorous and unusual ways. The kids work together to solve the problems created by each wish. Our guests, Jonah and Titus, thought the theme of the story was greed and the lesson could be that we should be satisfied with what we have. Great insight for a 7 and 9 year old! Do you feel like challenging your children with a family read-aloud? Try out this E. Nesbit classic Five Children and It and enjoy expanding your sense of wonder. She writes from the kids' viewpoint in such a way you feel like you're included in their adventures. Many adults choose not to stretch their imaginations, but by doing so they miss out on great reads like The Hobbit, The Wind and the Willows, and The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe just to mention a few out of the plethora of timeless treasures. Travel to a time when kids had nothing but their imaginations to transport them into predicaments that boggle our minds and tickle our funny bones. : ) “Trying not to believe things when in your heart you are almost sure they are true, is as bad for the temper as anything I know.” Be sure to let us know if you have read this novel or if you have books you would like to recommend. We talk about Edith Nesbit, who arguably invented modern children's fantasy. Her book Five Children and It is about, yep, five children who find a Puddlegum-ish "sand fairy." He grants wishes that go very wrong, and the results make for a charming adventure. ★ Support this podcast on Patreon ★

Our Guest: Inara Sautter is Ambre's eldest ( as a Tolkien fan, she prefers Eldar) daughter, a writer, and the lead producer of the Stories from the Ashes podcast. She joins Ambre in this episode to share her experience growing up with dyslexia, her joy in being a reader, her thoughts on family read alouds, and her journey thus far as a writer (among other things!). Her delightful short story fan fiction on the characters of The Lord of the Rings taking a day trip to the strip mall can be found here: The Fellowship, a Minivan, a Leaf Blower, and a Few Doughnuts. If you would like to leave Inara a tip for making these podcasts possible, you may do so here. Just leave a note that it's for her and she will send you many thanks as she gleefully enlarges her Tolkien shelf. On her behalf- thank you!
