Damon Flowers joins me to unpack something most founders and operators only discover after repeated failure: the real battle isn't in the market—it's in the mind.We started with a simple but uncomfortable pattern.People don't usually fail because they lack skills. They fail because they can't consistently use them when it matters.Under pressure, fear shows up. Avoidance kicks in. Old identity patterns take over. And the business reflects it back almost immediately. What looks like a strategy problem is often an inner alignment problem.Damon shares his own path—from early confidence and corporate success to building businesses, getting hit by reality, and realizing that skills alone don't solve execution breakdowns. That realization led him into a deeper exploration of mindset, subconscious programming, and the hidden internal systems that actually drive decisions. Not in theory. In real behavior. We go deep into what actually changes when someone starts doing the inner work—and why it doesn't show results instantly, even when it's working.Key themes from the conversation:Most execution problems are identity problems in disguiseSkills don't matter if fear blocks consistent actionVictim mindset quietly shapes business outcomesAvoidance is often disguised as “strategy switching”The subconscious drives behavior more than conscious planningInner change creates delayed but compounding external resultsWillpower is not a long-term operating systemConsistency matters more than intensityMemorable lines:“You're not controlled by your thoughts—you're controlled by what you believe your thoughts mean.”“Most people aren't stuck because they don't know what to do. They're stuck because they don't do what they already know.”“Fear doesn't stop action directly—it just makes avoidance feel rational.”“Your business is often just a reflection of your internal operating system.”“You don't rise to your goals. You fall to your identity.”GuestDamon Flowers — Entrepreneur, operator, and mindset-focused business mentorHe works at the intersection of business execution and internal alignment, helping operators understand why performance breaks down even when the strategy is clear. Why this mattersMost people assume business failure is tactical.Wrong hires. Wrong offer. Wrong marketing. Wrong timing. But over time, a different pattern shows up.People know what to do—but don't do it consistently under uncertainty. They restart instead of iterate. They avoid discomfort instead of building tolerance for it.They confuse emotional resistance with strategic signal. And slowly, the gap between knowledge and execution becomes the real constraint. Not intelligence. Not opportunity. But internal conditioning. The uncomfortable truth is that:If your inner game doesn't support the action, no strategy survives contact with reality for long.Final takeawayThis isn't about motivation. It's about operating systems.Because once the internal pattern shifts, the external results don't require forcing anymore. They start to follow naturally—but only after enough repetition for the system to actually change. And that's the part most people underestimate:change is simple to understand, but slow to install. Join our champion program: mark@themomentumcompany.comAttend a Thriving Leader event: https://thriving-leader-2026.lovable.app/Instagram: @the.momentum.companyLinkedIn: /momentum-companyIn this episode of The Intentional Agribusiness Leader, Mark sits down with Andy LaVigne, CEO of the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA), for a wide-ranging conversation about seed, global trade, technology, and the future direction of agriculture.Andy defines intentional leadership through one core principle:Be purposeful with your stakeholders.Whether it's board members, policymakers, seed companies, or farmers, leadership means creating clarity, building trust, and helping people understand how their role contributes to the bigger mission. And in agriculture, few missions are bigger than seed.As Andy explains throughout the episode:Everything starts with seed. From corn and soybeans to vegetables, flowers, turf, and conservation land, nearly every food system and agricultural supply chain begins with one critical decision—the seed a farmer chooses to plant. That decision is deeply personal.Farmers only get one opportunity each season to put a crop in the ground. If the seed doesn't perform, there's often no second chance. That's why trust between farmers, seed companies, and local representatives matters so much. The conversation also pulls back the curtain on how global the seed business truly is.While many people think of seed as local, the industry depends heavily on international trade and movement:Counter-seasonal productionGlobal disease testingResearch and developmentGermplasm exchange and breeding programsAndy explains how tariffs and shifting trade policy are creating new challenges for the industry—especially when seed moves internationally for research purposes before ultimately returning to the U.S. market.A major theme throughout the episode is this:Agriculture is entering an inflection point. For decades, the industry rallied around one central mission:Feed the world. And while food security still matters deeply, Andy and Mark discuss how agriculture may need a new North Star for the future. What does agriculture look like 20 years from now? What markets will matter most? What qualities will consumers demand? And how do we build systems that adapt to rapid technological and economic change? The conversation explores opportunities around:Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF)New global marketsConsumer-driven product developmentAI and predictive breeding technologiesImproved logistics, forecasting, and operational efficiencyOne of the most fascinating parts of the discussion centers on how AI is accelerating plant breeding.Using predictive tools, companies can now model genetic outcomes with remarkable accuracy—dramatically reducing the time required to evaluate potential varieties and helping breeders focus faster on high-performing traits like disease resistance, shelf life, flavor, and yield. The episode also highlights the importance of leadership during periods of rapid change.Technology is moving faster than ever. Expectations are shifting. Markets are evolving. And leaders across agriculture will need to think beyond short-term cycles and begin preparing for what the next generation of farming could become.Because the future of agriculture won't just be shaped by what we grow.It will be shaped by how intentionally we innovate, collaborate, and lead.Listen if you are:Interested in the future of seed and crop innovationNavigating trade policy or global agriculture challengesCurious about AI's role in agricultureLeading through change inside the ag industryThinking about the next “North Star” for agriculture

Keep What You Earn
How to Guide Med Spa Patients to Their Best Results

Keep What You Earn

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 28, 2026 14:35

If you're saying yes to every patient request, you're not delivering better service—you're creating inconsistency in your results, your operations, and your revenue. That "do whatever the patient asks" mindset might feel like good customer service, but it actually limits your ability to grow a profitable, scalable aesthetics practice.  Today, I break down the shift from transactional, a la carte services to structured, outcome-driven treatment plans—and why that change is what separates busy med spas from valuable businesses.  Where "Yes to Everything" Starts to Break Your Aesthetics Practice  The bottleneck I see most often is an order-taking approach that fragments your service delivery and weakens patient outcomes. When you allow patients to pick treatments piece by piece, you lose control of the client journey. That leads to inconsistent results, lower patient trust, and missed opportunities to build long-term retention and repeat business. This isn't just a clinical issue—it directly impacts your medspa revenue, your operational efficiency, and ultimately your enterprise value.  What Happens When You Design for Outcomes Instead of Transactions  If you want stronger results and more predictable growth, your model has to shift.  • Why comprehensive treatment plans increase client retention and lifetime value • How patient education reduces pricing sensitivity and builds trust • The role of holistic, multimodality plans in improving patient outcomes  • Why structured offers simplify operations, hiring, and provider accountability • How clear client journeys drive referrals and more consistent revenue  How to Move From A La Carte Med Spa Services to Patient Plans  If you want to operate at a higher level, you need to take control of the solution—not just the service.   Start by anchoring every consultation in the patient's long-term aesthetic goals, not the single treatment they asked for. Build a complete plan that includes the necessary services, cadence, and product recommendations required to achieve that outcome.   Standardize how those plans are delivered so every provider follows the same framework. This creates consistency in both patient experience and results, while making your practice easier to scale.  Most importantly, stop compromising the plan. When you allow patients to strip down what's required, you weaken the outcome—and that affects both satisfaction and retention.  The Role You Need to Step Into as You Grow  If you're scaling your med spa or thinking about expansion, your role has to evolve from provider to advisor. Stop and ask yourself:  • Am I guiding the patient journey, or reacting to requests? • Are my treatment plans consistent across providers? • Can my team confidently recommend full solutions without me? • Do my results reflect a system—or individual decisions?  Without a defined, repeatable structure, growth creates more complexity instead of more profitability.  Preparing Your Med Spa for Future Enterprise Value  If you want to understand how your med spa's financial structure impacts scalability, start with the Financial Scaling Playbook for Aesthetics. Get it today: www.keepwhatyouearn/playbook   Inside the free series, I walk through:  • Offer profit analysis • Operating margin benchmarks for med spas • Cash flow management for growing practices • Customer lifetime value and retention strategy • Enterprise value readiness for aesthetic clinics  Follow Shannon & Keep What You Earn:   Shannon Weinstein is the founder of a fractional CFO firm specializing in helping 7-figure aesthetics and wellness practices scale with clarity, cash flow, and confidence.  Shannon is committed to helping med spa owners understand, fix, and maximize their business's enterprise value, offering actionable advice and resources, including a popular free video series specifically for aesthetics practice owners. But over time, more and more responsibility starts to land on one person.   David reflects on what that feels like—and the part people don't always see.   A calm and honest conversation about responsibility, pressure, and why carrying everything alone isn't the only way.   For David's book, other resources and more visit www.davidedey.com

In today's Monday Mindset, March and April can feel like the point where everything starts slipping at once. You're running on fumes, your students are restless, and the pull of summer makes every small task feel bigger than it should. We're talking about that exact moment and the counterintuitive fix that actually makes the rest of the year easier: leaning into structure instead of letting it slide. We unpack why loosening routines, expectations, and boundaries doesn't bring relief, it creates more chaos. The key mindset shift is simple but powerful: what's hard now is easy later, and what's easy now is hard later. When your classroom management stays clear, your late work policy stays firm, and your routines stay steady, students stop negotiating and testing. That consistency isn't rigidity. It's a signal that says, “You don't have to guess. I've got this, and I've got you.”

Summary In this episode, Andy talks with Dr. Andrew Wittman, former Marine, police officer, federal agent, and leadership coach, about his new book Inner Armor: Perpetual Resilience. If you lead projects and teams, you already know pressure is coming. The real question is what you do when it arrives. Andrew explains why the brain can work against you under stress, and how the questions you ask yourself shape the options you can see. You'll learn the Two Minute Rule and how it can help you shift from "we can't" thinking into problem-solving mode. Andy and Andrew also explore how filters and assumptions influence what leaders notice, why limitation can be more dangerous than fear, and what it looks like to build a First Responder Mindset so you can hold your poise when stakeholders push back. They close with a powerful discussion on identity and a practical look at raising resilient kids. If you're looking for insights on leading with clarity and composure when the stakes are high, this episode is for you! Sound Bites "The first thing you have to understand about the brain is that it is the original search engine. Like it has to answer a question." "The brain knows that you're a genius. Even if you don't consciously recognize that you're a genius, your brain knows it. It'll never go against your genius self. So if you say things like, I don't know how we could do this, your brain says, 'Oh, we don't know.' So it stops searching completely for any answer." "Just for two minutes, pretend that you could do it. It's amazing that your brain will just go to work and find like 15 ways you actually could do it, whereas seconds ago, we thought we couldn't." "When bad news happens, get happy. Whenever you hear bad news, you should get happy because this is your biggest opportunity to have the greatest comeback ever." "My question is, no matter what the bad news is, I'm going to ask myself this: how can I use this to my greatest possible advantage?" "I want to know what the holes in this project are. I don't want to hear rainbows and sunshine, right? Positive thinking will get you killed quicker than negative thinking." "We take in 11 million bits of information per second. Every second we see, hear, feel, touch, 11 million bits. Only 126 bits go to our conscious mind for action, which means we're filtering out 99.9% of all that information." "When you walk into a room, and you think no one supports you, you're going to see every cue that you could find to back that up. And you'll discard anything that would go against that." "The world is always ready to define you if you don't define yourself." "My identity: I'm a man of excellence who always keeps his word. I aspire to always keep my word. And so everything that I do is pre-decided by that identity." "Excellence is if I give my best effort, I could sleep tonight." "Welcome to Planet Earth, everybody has to deal with the externals. It's the great equalizer. We all have to deal with it. You're not special. I hate to tell you, CEO, you're not special." "Those pressure situations, they don't create your habits. In this powerful spiritual talk, Everything Starts with Self-Restraint, Rev. Lee Wolak breaks down one of the most underestimated spiritual principles: the ability to pause, breathe, and choose consciously instead of reacting on autopilot. In a world where everyone is triggered, rushing, and emotionally overloaded, self-restraint becomes a spiritual superpower. It's the gateway to clarity, inner peace, and authentic personal transformation. This video dives deep into how self-restraint shapes your vibration, your relationships, your decision-making, and the quality of your entire life. You'll learn why your spiritual evolution depends on your ability to redirect your energy, interrupt old patterns, and make aligned choices instead of fear-driven ones. When you master restraint, you stop leaking power… and start creating life from intentional consciousness rather than survival programming. Whether you're on a path of awakening, exploring mindfulness, expanding self-awareness, or wanting to live from inner truth rather than emotional reactivity, this talk will guide you into a bold, grounded, spiritually aligned understanding of how restraint unlocks freedom. Your scalable offer is where everything starts. It informs your operations, your team, your pricing, and your client experience. In Episode 67, I introduced the concept of a scalable offer, and the response was overwhelming (in a good way). Clients and listeners have been rethinking how they structure their services, teams, and operations around this one idea. In this follow-up episode, I go deeper into how to design a scalable offer that creates more freedom, profit, and impact. I share why I no longer teach building a business around your Zone of Genius (and what to focus on instead), how to identify when you've built a "menu" instead of an offer, and what it looks like to narrow your focus even when it feels uncomfortable. You'll also hear real examples from consultants who've done this work—from fractional fundraisers and grant consultants to strategic planners—so you can see how these shifts play out in practice. Mentioned in this episode: Book a 90-Minute Intensive: NatalieMBA.com/intensive Decisions and a plan in one session, plus my Sales Forecast Tool and a focused Game Plan. In this episode, Dr. Dean Radin, Chief Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences, explores the science behind consciousness and its role in shaping our reality. Once dismissed by mainstream psychology, consciousness is now being rigorously studied to understand how practices like manifestation, meditation, and spontaneous healing might influence the physical world. Radin offers scientific insight into these phenomena, highlighting the mystery and complexity behind our conscious experience.Key Takeaways:Consciousness is real and impactful – Once questioned, it's now accepted as a fundamental part of human experience.Science meets the mystical – Practices like manifesting and affirmations may have measurable effects.Non-locality exists – Reality may be influenced by factors beyond time and space.Healing through consciousness – Compassion, self-awareness, and intention can lead to real biological changes. We still don't have all the answers – But the exploration of consciousness is gaining serious scientific momentum.Dr. Dean Radin's Bio:Dean Radin is Chief Scientist at the Institute of Noetic Sciences (IONS), Associated Distinguished Professor at the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS), and chairman of the biotech company, Cognigenics. The simple act of asking boldly can open doors you never imagined. Learn how speaking your desires with clarity creates powerful shifts, aligns opportunities, and reminds you that what you want is waiting for you. Asking can feel scary, whether it's requesting help, an opportunity, or even just declaring what we want to the universe. I've learned firsthand that the simple act of asking boldly creates ripple effects that we can't always see immediately. This episode is about the courage to speak your desires clearly, the trust to release the “how,” and the magic that unfolds once you do. Action Plan: - Make bold asks daily: Speak or write your desires out loud with clarity and confidence. - Get specific: State exactly what you want, whether it's a number, opportunity, or connection. - Release the how: Focus on the “what” and let the timing and method work themselves out. - Create a bold ask list: Keep a running list of things you want to request so you're ready when courage strikes. - Affirm your worthiness: Remind yourself you are already enough to receive what you desire.
