The world tells leaders they must be everything: visionary, innovator, operator, executor. Patrick Lencioni tried, but it nearly crushed him. He wasn't exhausted from effort; he was exhausted from misalignment. He discovered what most high performers never admit: trying to be everything is the fastest path to burnout. That insight became The Six Types of Working Genius, a simple framework reshaping how teams work by aligning people with the work that gives them energy. In this episode, Patrick joins Ilana to break down the Six Types of Working Genius and show how aligning your strengths can transform your career, your team, and your fulfillment at work. Patrick Lencioni is a bestselling author and organizational health expert, and the founder of The Table Group. Named by Fortune as “one of the new gurus you should know,” Patrick helps leaders build healthy, high-performing organizations grounded in trust and clarity. It's not “Presidents' Day.” Legally, it's George Washington's Birthday—and we've quietly erased the one American who actually deserves a national holiday.- This episode is sponsored by ExpressVPN. Get an extra 4 months free. https://expressvpn.com/goldIn this episode, I explain how a 1968 law moved holidays to Mondays, how retail “Presidents' Day” sales hijacked the meaning, and why Washington's character matters: the war hero who survived what should've killed him, turned down a crown, stepped away after two terms, and personally led troops to put down the Whiskey Rebellion. We also cover a modern contrast: government subsidies and incentives that raise prices, distort markets, and create the very “affordability” problems politicians pretend to solve.Chapters:00:00 Cold Open: No Friends in the Pits00:20 Show Intro: The Peter Schiff Show Begins00:55 Why It's George Washington's Birthday (Not “Presidents' Day”)02:46 How “Presidents' Day” Sales Hijacked the Holiday05:32 Washington's Early Life & French and Indian War Heroics09:22 Leading the Revolution: Beating the World's Strongest Army12:07 Turning Down a Crown & Setting the Two-Term Precedent13:39 The Whiskey Rebellion: A President Who Led from the Front16:27 Why Washington Deserves the Holiday (And the Modern Debate)19:32 Pepsi Cuts Prices 15%: The SNAP Junk Food Policy Angle23:08 The Bigger Lesson: Subsidies Raise Prices (College, Housing, More)25:34 Why Subsidies Make Housing, College & Healthcare More Expensive26:48 Trump on Keeping Home Prices High (and the Credit-Fueled Fix)28:57 Affordability 101: Demand Down or Supply Up?30:15 SNAP Benefits as Money Supply: How It Spills Into Everything33:43 The Farm Subsidy Paradox: Paying to Raise Food Prices38:31 Government Spending, Inflation, and the Case for Gold39:11 Gold & Silver Levels + Why to Dump Bitcoin40:37 MicroStrategy/Strategy and Michael Saylor: The “Legal Ponzi” Critique47:23 Palm Beach “Trump Airport” Trademark Story50:44 Wrap-Up: Calls to Action, Subscribing, and Sign-OffFollow @peterschiffX: https://twitter.com/peterschiffInstagram: https://instagram.com/peterschiffTikTok: https://tiktok.com/@peterschiffofficialFacebook: https://facebook.com/peterschiffSign up for Peter's most valuable insights at https://schiffsovereign.comSchiff Gold News: https://www.schiffgold.com/newsFree Reports & Market Updates: https://www.europac.comBook Store: https://schiffradio.com/books#PresidentsDay #WashingtonsBirthday #HistoryFactsOur Sponsors:* Check out GhostBed: https://ghostbed.com/PETER* Check out TruDiagnostic and use my code GOLD20 for a great deal: https://www.trudiagnostic.comPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Today we revisit some of the most powerful lessons from my favorite past episodes, featuring incredible guests who have shaped my perspective on success, decision-making, and personal growth. First up is Codie Sanchez, who shares the importance of quick decision-making and the risks of hesitation. Dan Martell talks about overcoming resistance, embracing risk, and asking the right questions to break through uncertainty. Ann Mahlum reminds us why trusting our talents and convictions is critical, even when facing external doubts or judgment. Finally, we hear from Steven Pressfield, who reflects on his journey to becoming a best-selling author. He opens up about his struggle with resistance and how writing became his true calling after years of avoiding it. Take a step back, listen to these insights, and remember: success begins with action. If you're feeling stuck or uncertain, these lessons will inspire you to keep pushing forward, trust the process, and make quick decisions that move you closer to your goals. One out of ninety women will develop ovarian cancer in her lifetime. It is the second most common gynecologic cancer and the fifth leading cause of death among women from cancer. Roughly 25% percent of ovarian cancer is hereditary. If a woman is a carrier of one of the gene mutations associated with ovarian cancer, her risk is strikingly higher than the risk of the general population. But most women who carry this genetic mutation…don't know it. My guest is Dr. Michelle Jacobson, an internationally recognized expert in menopause and cancer survivorship who has dedicated her professional life to educating women about hereditary cancer syndromes- who should be screened, and what to do with that information. Many people today lament the end of the world. And while we are entering into a period of rapid change, the real cause isn't political or ideological. We're in this situation because no one is turning down the genie: our magical technologies that effortlessly fulfill desire. It's not in our nature to turn down easy gratification – and expecting others to do so is unrealistic. This is why the world is falling apart. Women who are in the throes of menopause are never thrilled about having hot flashes, but they aren't particularly surprised by them. It's other symptoms that often blindside women, including symptoms that are not often associated with menopause.Esoteric symptoms are different than unusual symptoms. An unusual symptom is something that rarely occurs. An esoteric symptom, on the other hand, is one that occurs commonly, but is rarely discussed and often not well understood. What do you do when your world becomes so small that even the second floor of your own home feels like a place you need to escape? In this episode, I'm sitting down with Megan, a graduate of my Panic to Peace program, to talk about the raw reality of agoraphobia. Megan shares the "underwater" feeling of her first traumatic panic attack during an MRI and how her life eventually shrank until she was white-knuckling her way through every single day just to show up for her two daughters.Megan's story is a beautiful look at the shift that happens when you stop fighting the feelings and start changing the way you talk to yourself. We talk about how she went from being housebound to navigating a four-day hospital stay with her child with a newfound sense of calm. If you feel stuck in the "noise" of anxiety, this conversation will show you exactly how Megan turned the volume down and reclaimed her life.SIGN UP FOR DRIVE WITH PEACE & CONFIDENCE HERE: https://www.ahealthypush.com/drive-with-peaceTAKE MY FREE QUIZ AND FIND OUT WHAT'S CAUSING YOU TO STAY STUCK: https://www.ahealthypush.com/blocking-quizA HEALTHY PUSH INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/ahealthypush/GET THIS EPISODE'S SHOW NOTES: https://www.ahealthypush.com/post/anxiety-success-megan
Nashville bassist Alison Prestwood joins Blake for a deep-dive hang that zig-zags through the kind of career that only makes sense in hindsight: a near-miss with Waylon Jennings, a pivotal run with Rodney Crowell, getting the call to jump in with Patti Loveless on a few days' notice, and why saying “no” at the wrong time can still be the right move. They talk shop on what it really takes to break in today (attitude, reputation, the bus factor, and yes… learn the number system), plus why studio work still has that magic when a whole band builds something together in real time. Also: a midlife detour into law school and practicing as an attorney before returning to music full-time, and a proper gear spiral, including her 1973 P-bass, vintage favorites, and why touring with Peter Frampton can actually be safer for great instruments than leaving them at home. In case you missed it, last week was quite the week in the menopause world. The FDA made a landmark decision to remove all black box warnings from estrogen products and to update the labels of individual products. I was in the room where it all happened and in this episode, I'm going to break it all down for you. But here's the headline- this label change is overall, a good thing, a very good thing. A transcript of this podcast, along with photos and graphics, can be found on DrStreicher.Substack.com In this episode: A historical perspective of how the Black Box label came to be on all estrogen products A review of the Women's Health Initiative Study (WHI) that lead to the specific warnings on the label. The fall out from the release of the WHI The Problems with the Black Box label on estrogen products Class Labeling The difference between oral, transdermal and local vaginal estrogen. How the required black box label influenced the likelihood of physicians writing a prescription for estrogen, and the likelihood that women would use hormone therapy. Why I never stopped prescribing estrogen Last week's announcement from the FDA If it is medically appropriate to remove the black box warning from local vaginal estrogen If it is medically appropriate to remove the black box warning from systemic estrogen The inaccurate messaging during the FDA press conference The POLITICS of WHY the FDA removed the Black Box warnings Related Podcasts: Episode 124 All Hormones Are Not Created Equal with Dr. James Simon Episode 164 Is Bioidentical Always Best? Jewel went from a busking teenager living in her car to selling 30 million records worldwide—then walked away at the peak of her fame. While the world saw success, she was navigating panic attacks, trauma, and agorophobia. She realized she had broken a promise to herself made years earlier: to become a "happy, whole human—not a human full of holes." In this conversation, Jewel reveals how she built a career on her own terms—even when those terms seemed irrational to the industry—and how she continues to redesign her life today with the same commitment to peace over profit. She shares spiritual lessons she learned while growing up in rural Alaska, why she believes we should look at anxiety like we do food poisoning, and the opportunity for "breaking down" she's looking forward to next. Today, through her Inspiring Children Foundation and the Not Alone Challenge, she's helping others do the same by providing mental health tools for people who don't have access to therapy, privilege, or a safety net. Entrepreneurs will recognize familiar terrain here: risk, self-doubt, scaling what works, walking away when it doesn't, and the personal evolution required to build anything that lasts. Selene Yeager is not a doctor; she is a health reporter with an enormous following of women who count on her to provide evidence-based medical information. Recently, we sat down to discuss challenges in prescribing hormone therapy for her podcast, "Hit Play, Not Pause." We had such a good conversation that I asked her if I could share her episode with my audience.
We asked for your big questions on hormone therapy–and an avalanche ensued! This week, after 5+ years of Hit Play Not Pause, we're doing a level set on hormone therapy. This week's guest, nationally-recognized menopause expert Lauren Streicher, MD, digs into hormone therapy research, what it tells us and what it doesn't, why formulations matter, perimenopause versus postmenopause therapy, the cardiovascular implications of hot flashes, why hormone therapy needs to be personalized, and how every woman should approach her own care. We dig into vertical leadership development, the Energy Leadership Index, and the mindset shifts that move leaders from overdrive to aligned performance. Her stories, from global weddings on the Nile to boardroom breakthroughs, illustrate how seeing people clearly can change how they see themselves. You'll learn specific strategies for navigating career pivots: how to listen for what lights you up, find the hidden map in your curiosities, and build a circle that reinforces creation over doubt. Karina shares her “Olympic-level emotional thought cardio” for designing habits backward from the future you want, plus a simple but powerful invitation: if you feel the itch to evolve, lean into it. The result is a blueprint for leadership that is clear, human, and sustainable. If this conversation sparks something, consider that a sign. Recorded: July 28th 2025 | This week on Bussin’ With The Boys, Will Compton and Taylor Lewan have on the legendary Theo Von! From deep thoughts to deep woods, Theo takes us on a ride through his fasting-fueled introspections, sketch comedy chaos, and SEC football hot takes. We kick things off with a fun intro discussing Dieon Sanders news, and the upcoming Bussin’ Bowl Live Show. After our electric intro, the Theo interview kicks off starting with Theo sharing about his current fast… yeah, he’s starving, but it’s got him thinking deep. He opens up about how not eating for days makes his mind sharper and his soul weirder, and how it’s even made him re-evaluate his dream guests on This Past Weekend. He hopes to have an episode with The Pope and Marilyn Monroe. Theo also drops a bombshell: he was approached to be in Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ on Netflix but had to turn it down due to scheduling conflicts. The boys chop it up about Theo’s long-time friendship with Bobby Lee and the success of his True Friends podcast. He reflects on the early years of grinding in LA, podcasting before it was cool, and what it was like trying to find his voice while bouncing off other now-huge comics. The boys also talk about Theo’s viral “Digger” sketch with Shane Gillis and Druski, breaking down the behind-the-scenes chaos and what it’s like working with comedy heavyweights. Then things get outdoorsy as Theo talks about his fun camping trip with none other than Glenny Balls and the owner of Jimmy John’s Sandwiches.
