Hello and welcome to Gravity Falls season 2 episode 3! This week, Mabel and Pacifica Northwest find themselves at the center of a turf war between multiple factions of mystical putt-putt creatures. If only Grunkle Stan wasn't so eager to help his nibblings break and enter we probably could have just played a quick round and called it there. [School of Everything Else 2024] Part 4 of 6 Back in early 2020 (pre-pandemic even) just as Disney+ had launched, making this show super-accessible to everyone at last, we recorded three podcasts on the first season. Now we are finally back to talk about the second and final season and one of the most satisfying, bittersweet endings of any television series, and I am not being hyperbolic with that statement. Dipper and Mabel Pines are a pair of tweens who have to spend the summer in the strange Pacific Northwest town of Gravity Falls with their conman Grunkle Stan. Now answers to the big mysteries of the first season finally bubble to the surface, presenting us with both hilarious hijinks and mind-bending sci-fi. It's the kind of smart, emotionally sensitive, poignant and genuinely funny programming for kids that we've seen rise most reassuringly over the past decade. Episodes Covered: Into the Bunker, The Golf War, Sock Opera, Soos and the Real Girl, Little Gift Shop of Horrors, Society of the Blind Eye, Blendin's Game, The Love God, Northwest Mansion Noir, Not What He Seems, A Tale of Two Stans, Dungeons, Dungeons, & More Dungeons, The Stanchurian Candidate, The Last Mabelcorn, Roadside Attraction. Guests: Hollywoo Actress Maya Souris @Mayasantandrea Victoria Luna B. Grieve: @VixenVVitch Theo Leigh of The New Century Multiverse

Welcome to Gravity Falls, a sleepy Oregon woodland, backwater town with its own kitschy roadside, supernatural attractions... that are totally real. Dipper and Mabel Pines spend an adventure-packed summer with their great uncle "Grunkle" Stan trying to uncover the mysteries of the town, and just who wrote the mysterious journals chronicling all of the strange goings-on. Vinnk has been waiting for Sean to watch this show since we started this podcast, and we review both seasons and the series of shorts that separated them, as well as reveal the many hidden secrets that Alex Hirsch added to the show to keep the guessing game going as to what "really" has been going on in Gravity Falls this whole time, and just how it will end. (Which we don't spoil, because we're not monsters!) Remember, reality is an illusion. Buy gold! Thank you ever so much to Melanie for commissioning this episode! Oh boy I am so excited to be getting into the next season of the show y'all. This is a real pleasure to cover, and so strange and different in so many ways while still feeling deeply familiar in its humor and friendliness. I expected this season to begin with an explanation of what the hell Grunkle Stan is up to. If not his overall motive, then I thought at least his immediate actions with the machine under the Mystery Shack would be hinted at. However, no such luck! I'm still none the wiser about what he's after or what the hell is going on in the town of Gravity Falls. Oh also, Nick Offerman is here! Thanks for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
Thank you so much to Melanie for commissioning this episode and for being so patient even though I royally fucked it up. She's a pure angel and I am lucky we were able to work it out and do the Shorts instead, which were HILARIOUS and I highly recommend. This episode was a fantastic finale, and full of little surprises that were delightful and funny, until we got to the BIG surprise at the end...Grunkle Stan knows all about the journals, and he's been trying to find them! And he's got some kind of control room under the Shack! What the hell is going on?!I am deeply excited about watching episodes 1 & 2 live! Eeeeeee!
Thank you so much to Melanie for commissioning this episode! I'm so delighted to get back to Mabel and Dipper, and I'm really surprised at how much I missed them. These episodes deal with Mabel's conviction that you can be super nice and still be a good boss, and she's slowly proven wrong as she continues to give inches, and then feet. Pretty soon she's doing everything herself, and she's pretty damn mad about it. Then there's the bottomless pit episode, in which our people have some time to waste, and they decide to tell stories. it's pretty fun and I really enjoy the twist that Grunkle Stan's "truths" are even worse than all the lying and swindling. Thanks so much for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
Elwood and Lackey are back for another season of Cult TV goodness kicking things off with "Gravity Falls" a recent Disney show which picked up were "Eerrie Indianna" left off as Dipper and Mabel join thier Grunkle Stan in search of the many mysterys the town hides beneath it's quaint surface. We also look at Liquid Television a series which not only championed independent animation but also gave the world thier first glimpses of Beavis and Butthead and Aeon Flux. Plus the round up of the top shows of 2019 so far, Game of Thrones revisited and much more!!
Thank you to Rachel for commissioning "Dipper VS Manliness" and "Double Dipper" this week! I'm super excited that I get to watch two of these per episode (at least for now) and these are maybe my favorites so far. The first one concerns Dipper and his masculinity, and it's low-key adorable while also super frustrating because masculinity is the most fickle thing. It's wonderful how the episode juxtaposes Dipper's struggles with the Manotaurs with Grunkle Stan's makeover at the hands of Mabel. The second episode is mostly about Dipper wanting to ask out Wendy, and how he manages to make a lot of copies of himself to help him carry out his plan. Which, spoiler alert, still doesn't work out. Meanwhile, Mabel gets into a contest for the Party Crown against Pacifica Northwest and makes some awesome new friends. Thank you all so much for listening, and I will see you again soon in a new episode!
Thank you to Melanie for commissioning these episode of Gravity Falls! I'm glad that I'm getting the special treatment because of the shortness of each episode, so that I can watch more than one of them at a time. These episodes are both really fun, but for me the second one about the wax model of Grunkle Stan being "murdered" is the one that really stands out. Although, the previous episode is the one where we meet the "Local Kook" for the first time, so I'm not too mad about that, either. I'm really impressed with this show, and I am super glad I am covering more of it this week! Thanks for listening, and I will see you soon with a new episode!
A poem by Joe:Once there was a Grunkle Named StanWho had two nice five-fingered handsA bird stole a pigAnd Stan's muscles got bigAnd then Grunkle Stan punched the Pteradactyl in the face. This has been a poem by Joe.

And while we try to work through our Dakota Johnson issues, we also bring up… the greatest costume duo… that I’ve ever seen, free ice cream, so many accidental high-five deaths, you have to kill someone they love, a costume accessory to the eye, Grunkle Stan, one move away from Robert Sheehan, please don’t interact with me, doing a very specific wiggly dance, yo-yo rock stars, Thor would not smoke, Michael Myers in space, a reading rainbow, lonely Kevin Nash, how can you not love Daria, denim action and the surly attitude, Cate Blanchett, Cabin in the Woods, that kid felt the call… of DMX, the lizardy-dragon-girl-thing-lizard, hi-fiving Lance Henriksen, nobody likes a wooden spoon, wearin’ KangaROOS, I’m going to have to talk to a random stranger, half-ass Loki, Richard Attenborough, Thor: Ragnarok, steeped in it’s own weird pop culture, spending the entire day carrying your tail around, big hair number three from that thing that we don’t know what it is and a big-ass sandwich. “I mean, this is the place to be if you like girls with horns and antlers and whatnot...” For more information on Indy PopCon, go to: https://indypopcon.com/https://indypopcon.com/
Hey Sprinklerz! Today's another "Favorites" episode of Sprinklez where I talk about two of my all-time-faves: Fox's WAYWARD PINES (Season 1 & 2 are on Hulu) and Disney's GRAVITY FALLS (Season 1 & 2 are on Hulu). WAYWARD PINES is a fantastic and mysterious thriller set in the too-perfect town of Wayward Pines nestled in the forest of the American North West. Executive producer M. Night Shyamalan brings us a fast paced, plot twisting story pulled from the pages of the trilogy of books by author Blake Crouch entitled; Pines (2012); Wayward (2013); and The Last Town(2014). I rave on about the amazing cast and despite watching countless YouTube videos on the matter, I still totally mess up Siobhan Fallon Hogan's name (It's pronounced Shavon, who knew? Sadly, not me.) She is amazingly funny and endearing in this show. Then I almost burst with excitement about Disney's GRAVITY FALLS which is cartoon-cuteness overload. Set again in the mysterious northwest it features a set of twins, Mabel and Dipper Pines as they arrive at their Grunkle Stan's house for the summer. His home doubles as a Mystery Shack which is a tourist trap full off oddities. The siblings find themselves solving one puzzling mystery after another while encountering the adorably-weird mythical creatures of the forest. Cannot say enough about this show!! Smart, funny, charming. Last but not least I tell you why you need Nestlé's CHUNKY candy bar in your life!!! Tangents: The Village (For rent or purchase on Amazon Prime Video) One of my Favorite M. Night Shyamalan Bob's Burger (Netflix/Hulu) One of the best comedies ever! Empire (Fox/Hulu) Fantastic modern soap opera with great music! Duck Tales (For rent or purchase on Amazon Prime Video) Chip n' Dale Rescue Rangers (For rent or purchase on Amazon Prime Video)
The Mouse Castle Lounge Podcast: Disney News and Interviews, Cocktails and Conversations
After 3 ½ years, two full seasons and 40 episodes, Disney XD's Gravity Falls is about to air its final show—and we're a little bummed by this. Gravity Falls is our favorite thing on Disney television right now, ranking right up there with Phineas and Ferb, another great Disney animated series that came to an end. The summer adventures of Dipper and Mabel Pines at their great uncle Stan's Mystery Shack in the Oregon backwoods has been consistently funny, irreverent, exciting and even a little sweet. There have been mysteries solved, monsters defeated and life lessons learned in a show that is as entertaining for kids as it is for adults. The show's final episode, “Weirdmageddon 3: Take Back the Falls,” will air on Disney XD Monday, February 15 at 7:00 p.m. In it, we'll find out the fate of the Gravity Falls townsfolk at the hands of Bill Cipher, the one-eyed, triangle-shaped being from another dimension hell-bent on ruling—and possibly destroying—the entire known universe. It's going to be fun, really. This week, Tim attended a press event in Burbank with some of the cast and creative people of Gravity Falls. On hand was the show's creator and voice of Grunkle Stan, as well as the lovable handyman Soos, Alex Hirsch. Joining him were the actors who voice Dipper and Mabel Pines, Jason Ritter and Kristen Schaal. And finally, we heard from the composer of Gravity Falls' catchy, mysterious and whimsical music, Brad Breeck. Drew Taylor with the Disney Insider moderated the panel discussion, which was followed by questions from the press. Alex, Jason, Kristen and Brad shared their favorite moments from the show, how the Gravity Falls characters developed and grew, and why it made sense to end the series when they did. Adventure Thru Liquid Space In a move inspired by Garry Apgar, our guest in the Lounge last week, Tim challenged our resident mixologist Carolyn to devise a cocktail worthy of Mickey Mouse's arch-nemesis Black Pete. We're happy to report she came through with flying colors (or maybe she was just Plane Crazy). Black Pete 1 1/2 oz. Scotch1/2 oz. Cherry Heering1/2 oz. Ramazzotti Amaro1 1/2 oz. Coca Cola In a shaker, combine the Scotch, Cherry Heering, and Ramazzotti, fill with ice, and shake to chill. Strain into an ice-filled rocks glass. Top with Coke. Garnish. Inside The Mouse Castle: Disney News, Information and Commentary
After an unexpected week away from the show, Tim and Anthony are back with their take on Season of the Force at Disneyland. Is the Star Wars overlay of Tomorrowland worth your attention? Spoiler Alert: Hyperspace Mountain is about as good as you could hope for. And because they're easily distracted, they also talk about Adele, Pirates of the Caribbean overlays, Strange Magic, Mouse Castle charities and Honey, I Shrunk the Audience. They're pretty much all over the place. Again. They do manage to stay on topic, sort of, for this stuff: J.J. Abrams made it official: Star Wars: The Force Awakens is done. Completed. Finito. No more tinkering. Nada. Can we see it now? The Force Awakens has blown past $50 million in advance ticket sales before its December 18 release. This begs the question, will we ever again be as excited about a new Star Wars movie as we are right now? One person who doesn't seem to be as thrilled about Episode VII as the rest of us is...surprise!...George Lucas. He's made some curious comments recently about the latest installment of the film franchise he started. Butt-hurt, table for one. Want to go to the premiere of Star Wars: The Force Awakens in L.A. or London? It could happen. Just pry open your wallet and be generous about it. www.omaze.com/experiences/starwarspremiere We are sad to learn that Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls, is pulling the plug on the animated series when its second season comes to a close. We are seriously going to miss Dipper, Mabel, Grunkle Stan and all the other denizens of the Mystery Shack. To make up for the loss of revenue from the Fantasmic! dining packages at Disneyland when the show goes on hiatus in January, the park will begin offering dining packages for the Paint the Night parade. More details coming soon. In an effort to make Disney's Animal Kingdom more than a half-day park, a new Rivers of Light nighttime show will debut at the park next spring. It will incorporate many of the lighting, water and projection effects we've come to know and (mostly) love in Fantasmic! and World of Color to create a distinctly mystical, nature-themed show. Captain EO will end its run at Epcot on December 6. And while no official announcement has been made at Disneyland, we think it's unlikely to return there as well. Inside The Mouse Castle: Disney News, Information and Commentary
Inside Out had its Hollywood premiere last week, gearing up for its U.S. wide release this Friday. On this week's episode of Inside The Mouse Castle, we hear from the film's director, Pete Docter, and the some of the voice cast including Amy Poehler, Bill Hader and Lewis Black. Tim expects Pixar's journey into the mind of an 11-year old girl to be a sure-fire hit while Anthony thinks the film, as good as the early reviews are, is going to under-perform at the box office. It won't do as bad as Tomorrowland, though, not by a long shot. The Brad Bird film starring George Clooney is having a dismal run in theaters and could put Disney in the red $140 million or more. And, Disney or not, no movie conversation this week is complete with mentioning Jurassic World, so we'll touch on that too, plus these other mind-bending topics: In the story that won't die, is Asa Butterfield really out of the running to be the next Spider-Man? Are Tom Holland, Charlie Plummer and Matthew Lintz the new favorites? Who knows? Because apparently Marvel and Sony can't agree on anything concerning the franchise. We now know the voice cast for Pixar's The Good Dinosaur. After a series of production delays, including a director change and a reworking of the story, the film will open in the U.S. on November 25th. Have you seen the new teaser trailer for Zootopia yet? Tim thinks it looks cute. Anthony, not so much. Frozen Ever After is coming to Epcot's Norway pavilion next year, taking over the space once occupied by Maelstrom. Guests will be able to experience a "Winter in Summer Celebration" courtesy of Queen Elsa in the kingdom of Arendelle. That includes a trip to Elsa's ice palace. Two new restaurants are coming to the Disney Springs (aka the revamped Downtown Disney at Walt Disney World): The Edison and STK Orlando. They're the latest in a long list of new shopping and dining establishments being added to the area. Is it starting to be too much of a good thing? Disney Springs is a far cry from the quaint Lake Buena Vista Shopping Village us old-timers remember from the 1970s and 80s. Star Wars will be in Hall H of this year's San Diego Comic-Con. Marvel will not. Next. Goodbye, Phineas and Ferb. We'll miss you. Well, we'll be missing new episodes. We're sure you'll be rerunning on Disney Channel and Disney XD for a long time to come. J.K. Simmon is joining the voice cast of Gravity Falls. We hope he doesn't throw a chair at Grunkle Stan. Enjoy! www.TheMouseCastle.com
