It really hurts us to say it, but they have broken our trust. What's that line about being able to place more trust in curried egg sandwiches from the petrol station? Time to Restump Podcast Saturday's purple heart break. A vital component in the building of trust is consistency. Without it, by its very nature, trust cannot exist. Yet, ironically the only area of consistency we can trust the Freo Dockers in, is inconsistency. Once again, Freo has fooled many of us on the back of what we knew and acknowledged were soft victories. How did we think the consistent, less than substandard performances were behind us? Prior to Saturday we stated how poor our defensive efforts have been, and have been against the least offensive teams! Yet even so we could not fathom being unable to convincingly beat the Dees. Are we overrating the list? Do we have a team of talented players that do not comprise a genuinely talented team? Or is the list still not ready or equipped to handle the relentless rigors of AFL football? Yes, Sean Darcy is severely underdone and Heath Chapman's absence hurt us. But they weren't reasons for getting rolled by a zero and five team. Whatever the case we had 15 players with 80 or more games of experience, 11 of them with beyond 100 games under their belts out there on Saturday. So, there is no excuse for that lack of intent, the unwillingness to compete at the contest or the failure to chase and tackle. They're called non-negotiables for a reason! They're all prerequisites for being on an AFL list.Fresh off signing a long-term deal, you wonder what is going through Andy Brayshaw's head? Next to no one went with him in that final quarter when the game was there to be taken. Caleb Serong was monstered by Jack Viney who was magnificent in his role. Where was the help for him? Did anyone cause Viney any discomfort? Did anyone attempt to block Viney for Serong? The “Sack the Coach” crew have predictably come out of hibernation as its their easy go to answer for everything. But if you think 80+ gamers aren't bringing the basics unless the coach drills it into them, then the problem probably isn't entirely with the coach. And four quarters of the basics wins that game! That been said and to be fair to the coach doubters, Justin Longmuir now inevitably finds himself under immense pressure as another of this type of performance warrants putting everything on the table for questioning. With the ominous fixture ahead, things need to change overnight and for more than a week or two for JL not to be in a more precarious position than he unfortunately is right now.Is it overdue for an actual example to made at the selection table? More often than not, players have seemingly been given the opportunity to respond and rectify a poor performance the following week, and have usually done so. But given the continual sporadic nature of the same poor performances occurring, maybe they've used up all their redemption chances? There has seemingly been a reluctance to cut other than the usual suspects. What did our former coach Rosco say? “Execute one to educate a thousand.”Yes, we will regroup as we always do and we will go again. It is emotionally taxing and it is frustrating, at times excruciating and demoralising. But while we're in for a long and often painful season if Saturday is indicative of what is to sporadically turn up, this is football and Fremantle is our team. This isn't everyone's first grief counselling rodeo. We've all been here more times than we care to recall. So, you know the drill. Join us as we search for answers, for reasoning and for purpose. Let's work through the pain on the pod once more. Sam and Bucks share their thoughts on the comments Dayne Zorko made to Harrison Petty in Brisbane's loss to Melbourne on Friday night.
On Monday morning, Sam and Bucks' 'Ramble' involved discussions centring around Carlton vs Collingwood, the emotion of football, Bucks' nasty injury, and more. In 'The Buck Stops Here' Bucks looked at Collingwood and key stats, what might have been for Carlton, Essendon's pursuit of an experienced coach, don't underestimate Richmond, why Geelong are as "cherry ripe" as ever, and more. They discussed Dayne Zorko's comment to Harrison Petty in between taking calls, before they were joined by Carlton CEO Brian Cook, who spoke about their devastating loss yesterday. AFLW General Manager Nicole Livingstone called in ahead of Round 1 of the AFLW season this weekend, and in 'Questions Without Notice' they asked who the All-Australian forwards are, what damage can Fremantle do in finals, what was going on in Melbourne's post game celebrations. Lastly, they spoke to Western Bulldogs defender Taylor Duryea, after they snuck into eighth spot for the finals series.

He and Sam then spoke about Dayne Zorko's insult to Harrison Petty, before they were joined by Carlton CEO Brian Cook. And lastly, they spoke to Bulldogs defender Taylor Duryea.
Melbourne defender Harrison Petty has accepted an apology from the Brisbane Lions captain Dayne Zorko for a comment that left Petty in tears, as Zorko expressed remorse and vowed "to be a better leader". Paddy Sweeney told Gareth Parker in their regular Sport chat about what Zorko reportedly said and that the apology doesn't go far enough. "I'm really disappointed in Dayne Zorko and Brisbane's response," he said. "I think Brisbane need to find a new captain next year, "You don't want that as someone setting the standards at your football club."See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Two Brayshaws would have been handy… but we're ok running with one and a Jackson. Time to Restump Podcast preview the Brayshaw Bros Friday Night Bout in the Freo V Dees clash.Angus Brayshaw is a big signing for the Dees and congratulations to them. However, interestingly enough the grapevine chatter is suggesting Luke Jackson flew to WA for tomorrow night's game with a shipping container of luggage! (Disclaimer - We may have put that out on the grapevine) Massive game Friday night and its fair to say there are some nerves in the Restump camp regarding the outcome. Question marks are being placed over Melbourne by the wider football community, they'll want some retribution for round 11, there is threatening weather… do we have a plan B? In that round 11 win, Petracca was injured, Steven May went down in the first quarter and Harrison Petty was on one leg.Rightio that's enough of the glass half empty…. it'll probably fill up tomorrow night from the rain!Rory Lobb returning is obviously vital, joining Tabs to take on a formidable Jake Lever and Steven May duo. So much of our fortunes rest on the shoulders of Sonny, Shultzy, Freddy and co. If they don't bring the frenetic pressure and intensity we know they can, then our hopes of a much-needed win take a massive hit.Probably fair to say Mitchy is getting a little twitchy! There is not a lot more he can do, but the small forward region is a bit of a Crowden area at the moment. He's banging on the door but it's just not getting opened. Does he get in through the emergency entrance? We need a big lift from Sean “Swaggy Onions” Darcy up against the great Max Gawn. Darce has been a bit off his influential form for a fair bit of the season but he does seem to save his best for the best. Darce and Lobb up against Gawn and future teammate Jackson… an interesting battle. The midfield is where it starts and it's Petracca, Oliver and Viney opposed to Serong, Brayshaw, Brodie and Mundy… at some stage an Aish might get the tap on the shoulder and asked to ‘put the slows' on someone but you'd imagine they'd be ready for such a move. The defenders will do their usual super defending and strangle the Dee's scoring but Bailey Fritsch kicked 3 against us in round 11. Last week he nailed 4 and Sam Weiderman booteed 3 while Melksham and Pickett each got a couple. They're in good nick and they have a good spread of competent goal kickers. We need 60 points to make the top four and probably 52 points to all but guarantee us a spot in the eight. So 3 wins for top four and one win for finals. Lets focus on the top eight and cliché it to one week at a time. Can't wait for tomorrow night. We hold some fears of what might be but we have hope knowing what we can potentially make happen. So, click play and join us for a light-hearted 45 minutes of everything retro Freo before the clash gets under way tomorrow evening. While Jojo is in his element with this retro jumper, I am not underestimating the damage it may do. When you look good you feel good…. This jumper may have a lot to answer for!Get up, Freo.
