The Wethersfield School Board held their monthly school board meeting on Thursday, September 8th. At the meeting it was announced that Wethersfield student, Yuki Li, had received the National/Rural Small Town Award, an award handed out by the National College Board honoring academic achievement. Also at the meeting the Fiscal Year Budget was discussed and approved. And the schedule has been set for this year's Homecoming Celebration week at Wethersfield.

After eight weeks of traveling around America and seeing 35 states, we have safely arrived back home to South Texas. We have been looking forward to our homecoming, especially towards the end of the trip. It was an epic journey but there is something special about returning to familiar territory. As Christians, we should never lose sight of where our eternal home is because that affects all of our actions and decisions while on earth. The Bible tells us that Jesus is preparing a place for us in heaven and we should all be seeking that city which is to come, the new Jerusalem (see Revelation 21 and 22). It also reminds us that our real citizenship is in heaven and we should eagerly await our Savior’s second coming. A glorious homecoming awaits us at the end of this present age! At Living Strategically, we believe that we can make an impact for eternity during our relatively brief time on earth by using our time, energy, money, and abilities for kingdom purposes. These are all temporal assets that need to be invested for eternal dividends. In his book The Treasure Principle, author Randy Alcorn describes this mindset as living for the line rather than the dot. Life on earth is like a single dot compared to the line that extends from it and goes on forever, representing how long Christians will live in eternity. He challenges us to “live for the line” with an eternal perspective, storing up treasures in heaven that will last. SCRIPTURE FROM THIS EPISODE “He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also set eternity in their heart, yet so that man will not find out the work which God has done from the beginning even to the end.” Ecclesiastes 3:11 “For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the city which is to come.” Hebrews 13:14 “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself, that where I am, there you may be also.” John 14:2-3 “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For almost a 100 years now, OSU has been putting on a great Homecoming with the guidance of the OSU Alumni Association and this tradition will carry on for years to come. From the Harvest Carnival to Walkaround and even the Homecoming Parade, there are many incredible events and friendly competitions that take place during the week of Homecoming. Since the 98th Homecoming Celebration is coming up soon, we are taking a look back at some of the memories and experiences of alumni from their Homecoming years. This month, we’ll hear excerpts from former students about some of the things they did during their Homecomings and how much they enjoy coming back every year to this celebration. Then, we talk with Melisa Parkerson, Director of Student Programs for the OSU Alumni Association, about the planning of Homecoming and her own perspective on this great tradition. In 2009, Brandt was elected to Pinnacle West’s board of directors and promoted to Chairman, President and CEO of Pinnacle West and Chairman and CEO of APS. Before assuming these responsibilities, Brandt held several leadership positions with the company, including APS president, executive vice president and chief financial officer. He again added the title of president of APS in 2013. Prior to joining Pinnacle West in 2002, Brandt gained 20 years of power industry experience. He served as senior vice president and chief financial officer at Ameren Corporation, a St. Louis-based energy company. Prior to Ameren, he was at Price Waterhouse & Co., where he provided accounting, audit and consulting services to Fortune 500 public companies.  A recognized industry leader, Brandt currently serves as chairman of the Nuclear Energy Institute and vice chairman of the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations. He also sits on the board of the Edison Electric Institute. Brandt is a leader in the community as well, serving on the boards of the McCain Institute, the Phoenix Art Museum and the Nature Conservancy in Arizona.  Brandt earned his Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from St. Louis University.   Mr. Tony Orlando Tony Orlando is one of America’s most endearing and enduring iconic stars.  2017 finds Tony bringing his exhilarating energy, warmth and humor to a tour of live concert shows across the nation as he celebrates over five decades as a beloved entertainer. 2016 found Tony collecting a dizzying number of top honors.
