In this episode of the IMPACT= Podcast, we talk to Manfred Schepers, the founder and CEO of ILX Management, the Amsterdam-based manager of emerging market-focused private credit fund, ILX Fund. He believes that not only are development finance institutions among the best emerging market investors in the world, but pension funds should be looking to commit capital alongside them. ILX provides institutional investors access to investment opportunities of the development finance asset class, by investing in private-sector loans arranged by Multilateral Development Banks and Development Finance Institutions (DFIs). The rationale for his approach? Because DFIs have a proven track record of producing solid and long-term financial results and have very low rates of investment failures, despite investing in some of the least developed markets in the world. Manfred has over 30 years' of senior-level experience in both development finance and international capital markets. Prior to founding ILX Management, he was Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and led the Bank's Institutional Investment Partnership program. He has also worked at SBC Warburg and UBS where he was Global Head of Debt Capital Markets from 1990-2004.

Content warning: discussions around discrimination.Naturally somewhat polarising, religion has long been a topic of conversation that many of us choose to avoid. With our beliefs being such a personal thing, there is perhaps a presumption that discussions around religion will lead to heated debates. However, this doesn't have to be the case. For the next two episodes, we're talking to a variety of people about how their faith forms part of their identity, and why it's important that they're able to speak freely about it in any capacity, both in and out of work. Martin Pagh Ludvigsen is the Director of Creative Technology at MullenLowe, a Los Angeles advertising agency where he works primarily on their Acura account. During his tenure, Martin has directed a series of increasingly innovative, award-winning technology-driven experiences for Acura. One example was “What a Race” the launch of the 2018 Acura TLX, where a custom augmented reality-helmet was created and the race reached more than 3 million people. He’s created unique and innovative campaigns for Acura’s RDX, ILX, and others that stretched well beyond the norm. A graduate of the University of Copenhagen in Denmark Martin has used his degree in Computer Science, Digital Communications, and Theatre to apply his curiosity and perspective on global brands including Coca-Cola, GE, Google Play, Etihad Airways, H&M, Volvo, McDonald’s, Nike, Toyota, Acura, and others. I had the pleasure of meeting Martin during Pebble Beach Car Week at the Acura Type S Concept Reveal.
If you didn't know that Cooper got a Saab 900S on his 16th birthday or that Myan will never drive a Hyundai Sonata then this episode is tailor-made for you. Confused about the differences between an Acura RLX and ILX? Us too! At least we can all agree that Saabs were better when they were round and Volvos cooler when they were square. ...And not owned by GM and Ford. Don't worry, if old Japanese, South Korean or Swedish cars don't interest you, I'm pretty sure Myan mentions wine and cheese near the end. Don't miss it! Coop&Myan love bringing you very little on a regular basis so subscribe to Unofficial and finally start a relationship where it's ok to only “take-take-take!” Tune in on Thursday for one of our most dynamic guests ever! Felipe de Lara, most known for playing Benito on El Señor de Los Cielos. A genuinely sweet guy with a passion for performance that could rival anyone in Hollywood. He tells us all about his newest project, Into the Dark, a Hulu original by Blumhouse Productions.

Two Ford F-150s were purchased for our test fleet, one with the familiar 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 and the other with Ford's new 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6. Acceleration results from our test track proved surprising. Less surprising were the fuel economy numbers from the lightweight aluminium-bodied truck; we put those into perspective. In other news, our Tesla Model S P85D suffers an early malfunction, highlighting Tesla's customer service. We then reach deep into the mailbag, answering a variety of inquiries. Vehicle collaborations that were reliable, comparing the VW GTI to the Golf R, Acura ILX hate mail, sporty small SUVs, and the forgotten Mazda CX-9 are all discussed.
