This is Garrison Hardie with your CrossPolitic Daily News Brief for Friday, August 5th, 2022. Today, we’ll hear about a private school excluding white families from a back-to-school event, China fires missiles into Taiwanese waters’ calling them training exercises. CNN’s ratings are continuing to fall, Amazon’s new Lord of the Rings looks like a woke dumpster fire, and more… but first: Club Membership Plug: Let’s stop and take a moment to talk about Fight Laugh Feast Club membership. By joining the Fight Laugh Feast Army, not only will you be aiding in our fight to take down secular & legacy media; but you’ll also get access to content placed in our Club Portal, such as past shows, all of our conference talks, and EXCLUSIVE content for club members that you won’t be able to find anywhere else. Lastly, you’ll also get discounts for our conferences… so if you’ve got $10 bucks a month to kick over our way, you can sign up now at fightlaughfeast.com Let’s start with our friends over at CNN… what’s going on?! https://thepostmillennial.com/cnn-ratings-collapse-as-network-looks-for-new-revenue-including-extending-the-brand-in-china?utm_campaign=64487 CNN ratings collapse as network looks for 'new revenue'—including 'extending' the brand in China Over at CNN the "hunt is on for new revenue" as the news network's "ratings plummet" and "profits slump" below nearly $1 billion. On Tuesday, the New York Times reported that CNN's yearly profitability is expected to decline to $956.8 according to projections from S&P Global Market Intelligence. CNN's annual profits haven't sunk below $1 billion since 2016, the year Donald Trump beat Hilary Clinton in the presidential election and subsequently became a prominent figure in their commentary. "Ratings are down from their Trump-era heights across cable news, but declines at CNN are particularly pronounced," the Times noted. CNN viewership is about 639,000 in the prime time hours slot, which is down 27 percent from last year. More people on average watch MSNBC, whose viewership is down 23 percent, and Fox wins over both networks and is up about a percentage point in overall viewers. Fox's ascension in rating while MSNBC and CNN decline is the continuation of a stark pattern reported in 2021 which saw Fox News on top averaging 1.3 million in total day viewers, compared to 919,000 at MSNBC and 787,000 watching CNN. CNN's entropic ratings is a continuing trend. "It's becoming increasingly apparent that the vast majority of Americans are rejecting fake news," The Post Millennial, reported in June as CNN recorded their worst weekend ratings since 1993. To recoup losses generated by CNN, parent company Warner Bros. Discovery is looking to sell programming created for some of its other services, such as HBO Max. They're also broadly cracking down on expenses such as spending money on work celebrations. CNN brought on Chris Marlin, a lawyer with no cable news experience, who suggested "striking advertising deals with major tech companies like Microsoft," "selling sponsorships to corporate underwriters," and "extending CNN’s brand in China." Well that’s some good news, but file this next article under things that would make one lose faith in humanity: https://thepostmillennial.com/80-year-old-granny-banned-from-ymca-after-demanding-biological-male-leave-womens-locker-room-where-little-girls-were-undressing?utm_campaign=64487 80-year-old granny banned from YMCA after demanding biological male leave women's locker room where little girls were undressing An 80-year-old Washington state woman has been banned from using her local YMCA's public pool after she expressed discomfort with a biological male in the women’s locker room as young girls were undressing. She was in the shower when she heard a male voice and peeked out to find a biological male in a women's swimsuit engaging with little girls who were undressing. The biological male was reportedly with girls from the day camp, overseeing their bathroom activities. Jaman said that she had been showering after her July 26 swim at the pool, when she heard "a man’s voice in the women’s dressing area." She said that she saw "a man in a women’s swimsuit, watching little girls pull down their bathing suits in order to use the toilets in the dressing room." In an email from the YMCA’s Marketing and Communications Manager to The Post Millennial, they said that the staff member was not "engaging" with these girls, but rather escorting them to the dressing room. According to the Port Townsend Free Press, Jaman, who had been in the shower when she realized what was happening, hidden behind thin, sheer shower curtains, asked this person, revealed to go by the name Clementine Adams, "Do you have a penis?" "None of your business," Adams reportedly responded. "Get out of here, right now," Jaman replied. "You’re discriminating and you can’t use the pool anymore and I’m calling the police," YMCA aquatics manager Rowen DeLuna told Jaman after she requested that Adams leave the room, according to the Port Townsend Free Press. In an email from the YMCA’s Marketing and Communications Manager, they said that Jaman was not permanently suspended for this incident alone, but rather due to "repeatedly violating the Olympic Peninsula YMCA code of conduct, specifically, using disrespectful words or gestures towards YMCA staff or others; and abusive, harassing and/or obscene language or gestures towards YMCA staff or others." Per Washington state law, "All covered entities shall allow individuals the use of gender-segregated facilities, such as restrooms, locker rooms, dressing rooms, and homeless or emergency shelters, that are consistent with that individual's gender expression or gender identity." "The Y has not provided any dressing, shower room options for women who do not want to be exposed to men who identify as women," Jaman added. The state of Washington strikes again… But let’s allow Conneticut get in on the action! https://www.nationalreview.com/news/connecticut-private-school-excludes-white-families-from-back-to-school-event/ Connecticut Private School Excludes White Families from Back-to-School Event Greenwich Country Day School (GCDS), a private school in Greenwich, Conn., sent a letter to the families of students on Monday inviting them to a back-to-school event, so long as they identify as a racial minority. “The annual Cider and Donuts event is open to GCDS families who identify as Black, Asian, Latinx, multi-racial, Indigenous, Middle Eastern, and/or people of color,” read the letter, which was obtained by National Review. The letter was addressed to “GCDS families” and was signed by the director and associate director of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI). Above the description of the event, scheduled for October 8, it mentioned the importance of “building an inclusive, just and equitable community reflecting the multitude of human identities and perspectives in our world.” The school’s DEI website states that its mission is to “nurture meaningful learning through interactions and collaborations between people of diverse and intersecting identities,” including “race and ethnicity,” and its annual tuition ranges between $37,150 and $48,500. Let’s shift our eyes overseas https://www.dailywire.com/news/breaking-china-fires-ballistic-missiles-into-taiwanese-waters China Fires Ballistic Missiles Into Taiwanese Waters On Thursday, Taiwan said that Communist China fired a number of Dongfeng series ballistic missiles into waters by Taiwan’s northeast and southwest. Other reports said the Taiwanese government asserted that Communist China had fired two missiles from the nearby Matsu Islands. Further reports stated that roughly ten Chinese navy ships crossed the Taiwan Strait median line. Meanwhile, President Biden’s administration reportedly has been lobbying against a bill that would support Taiwan by naming it a major non-NATO ally, according to people familiar with the matter. The bill would give $4.5 billion in security aid and support its presence in international organizations. Before House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s visit to Taiwan this week, China’s foreign ministry issued a protest to the United States, threatening that a visit “seriously infringes upon China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.” China’s defense ministry said it would launch “targeted military operations,” France 24 reported, adding, “The Chinese military announced joint air and sea drills near Taiwan starting on Tuesday night and test launch of conventional missiles in the sea east of Taiwan, with Chinese state news agency Xinhua describing live-fire drills and other exercises around Taiwan from Thursday to Sunday.” Last Thursday, according to the Chinese Embassy in Washington, Chinese leader Xi Jinping threatened the U.S. in a conversation with President Joe Biden about America’s ties to Taiwan. “Those who play with fire will perish by it. It is hoped that the U.S. will be clear-eyed about this,” the Chinese statement said Xi warned. https://news.usni.org/2022/08/02/chinese-and-russian-ships-sailing-near-japanese-mod-says Chinese and Russian Ships Sailing Near Japan, Japanese MoD Says People’s Liberation Army Navy (PLAN) and Russian Navy warships have made independent transits around Japan over the past few days, the Japanese Ministry of Defense said this week. Japan spotted a Russian Navy corvette on Friday at 6 p.m. sailing east in an area 50 kilometers from Cape Soya, according to one of three new releases issued by the Joint Staff Office (JSO) of the Ministry of Defense Monday. Now, we take a dive into the world of entertainment, or at least Amazon’s view of entertainment: https://boundingintocomics.com/2022/08/03/the-lord-of-the-rings-the-rings-of-power-actress-nazanin-boniadi-says-her-character-is-an-activist-credits-prime-video-writers-for-giving-female-characters-agency/ ‘The Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power’ Actress Nazanin Boniadi Says Her Character Is An Activist, Credits Prime Video Writers For Giving Female Characters Agency Actress Nazanin Boniadi, who plays Bronwyn in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, recently described her character as an activist while also crediting the Prime Video writers of the show for giving female characters agency. Boniadi appeared at San Diego Comic-Con at the end of July where she talked to the media and specifically praised the writers on the show for giving female characters agency. Boniadi said, “What I love about the writers on this show is that they have given every woman on the show, every female character, such agency.” “We don’t serve the men around us, we have a storyline and our own right,” she added. The actress also stated at San Diego Comic-Con, “For Bronwyn, she is a healer. But she taps into her inner lioness and I as an activist, as a longtime human rights activist from my homeland, Iran… I tapped into what I believe women are doing for my homeland.” “And playing with character in sort of liberating and redeeming the Southlanders who back you know, in her ancestors’ days, chose evil over good,” she added. https://twitter.com/i/status/1551302209299591170 - Play Video Can I just add that her character doesn’t exist in the books? Or anywhere in Middle Earth’s lore? Because there weren’t enough characters right? This show is going to be a massive disaster. https://www.breitbart.com/sports/2022/08/03/trans-cyclist-blasts-usa-cycling-banning-him-competition-revoking-medal/ Guys lets end this week on a positive note here by talking about the topic that I love… sports! Trans Cyclist Blasts USA Cycling for Banning Him from Competition, Revoking Medal A transgender cyclist claims that a representative from USA Cycling informed him that he would no longer be allowed to compete in the women’s division and that his spot on the IP (individual pursuit) podium had been revoked. Leia Genis, a 25-year-old man who identifies as a woman, was reportedly stripped of the silver medal he won in the women’s division of USA Cycling and barred from competing in any additional events at the 2022 Junior & Elite Track National Championships. “USA Cycling updated its press release Friday by deleting a reference to Genis and elevating third-place finisher Skyler Espinoza to the runner-up slot,” the Washington Times reported. “Cyclist Elizabeth Stevenson, who placed fourth in the Wednesday competition, was credited as the bronze medalist.” Genis had won silver after finishing second at the Elite Individual Pursuit competition. The transgender cyclist wrote on Instagram, “…as I was preparing for the mass start races, a USA Cycling official informed me that I was no longer allowed to compete and that my place on the IP podium was to be revoked on account of my trans identity. . “6 weeks ago, I was eligible for competition at UCI C1 and C2 races held at the same velodrome and overseen by the same technical director. Yet 6 weeks later, now that I am doing well at nationals, I am suddenly ineligible to compete.” . Genis added, “The transphobia is so blatant it’s almost laughable.” The reason why Genis is unable to compete is due to the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) changing the testosterone requirements in their transgender policy. According to the new rules put forth on July 1, those declaring themselves to be female must keep their testosterone in serum below 2.5 nanomoles/Liter for at least two years. Previously, the requirement had been twice that high, at 5.0 nanomoles/Liter. And athletes only had to maintain those levels for one year. In other words, legally, racing as a trans cyclist got a lot tougher over the last six weeks. Genis went on to rail about how “frustrating” it is to be a trans competitor in cycling. Though, one might imagine it’s even more frustrating for the female riders who lose to cyclists who are actually men. Still, Genis’ removal from women’s competition is a significant victory for women’s sports. The case involving Genis is just one of many examples showing that sports leagues have begun to stand for women’s rights. Earlier this summer, FINA, the international governing body that presides over competitive swimming, banned males who have undergone puberty from competing in their events. The NFL is back, but Alex cannot spend too much time celebrating because the world has experienced a crazy week. He starts by discussing the aftermath of Nancy Pelosi's visit to Taiwan — China fired over a dozen Dongfeng series ballistic missiles into the waters north-east and south-west of Taiwan's main island. While China claimed these were “exercises”, Taiwan has responded and many countries have condemned the actions. Alex goes over whether this is a test-run for how China could seal off the island during an invasion. Next, tensions have hit a low since the 1990s between Serbia and Kosovo. Ethnic Serbs still live in a region in Northern Kosovo and the Kosovar government has tried to allow that region some idnependence. However, the government has now passed new laws involving license plates and entry-exit border policies for Serbians. This had led to protests, road blocks, and literal shots being fired. This is problematic because Serbia still does not recognize Kosovo as a country and Alexsander Vucic, Serbia's strongman leader, has close ties to Putin and has been referred to as “little Putin.” Alex worries that this could become another conflict over territories that has been exagerated by grievance-laced strongmen like Putin, Orban, and now Vucic. Finally, Alex looks into the trial of Alex Jones involving his lies about the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. Jones will have to pay $4.1 million to the victims. Is this the end of InfoWars?

Et Marie Riou d'être désignée Rolex Sailor of The Year en 2018. In addition, GAC Honda's electric SUV e:NP1 has gone on sale in China. - the plant will have an annual capacity for 120,000 electric cars and is scheduled to start production in 2024. However, the start of construction in June is later than planned: China Automobil News had reported in August 2021 that construction was to start in October. - but it will only be electric cars. Honda, through its joint ventures with GAC and Dongfeng, plans to bring ten e-models to market by 2027. - GAC Honda will have a production capacity of 890,000 vehicles in 2024; together with the 840,000 units of Dongfeng Honda, the Japanese manufacturer will have a total of 1.73 million vehicles in China. This sum already includes the pure electric car plant that Honda announced together with joint venture partner Dongfeng at the beginning of this year. It should also be possible to build up to 120,000 electric cars per year in Wuhan from 2024.

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 22, 2022 4:10

Good morning, good afternoon and good evening wherever you are in the world, welcome to EV News Daily for Monday 24th January. It's Martyn Lee here and I go through every EV story so you don't have to. Thank you to MYEV.com for helping make this show, they've built the first marketplace specifically for Electric Vehicles. It's a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. Welcome to a new EXECUTIVE PRODUCER TYLER VOSS WATCH RECORD-SETTING LUCID AIR DREAM EDITION 70-MPH RANGE TEST - We knew going into the range test that the Air would likely crush the 310-mile range test results we achieved on a 2021 Tesla Model 3 in our 70-mph range test, which was our range test leader until now. The only question that remained was by how much. - Lucid provided us with a production Lucid Air Dream Edition Range with the 19" Aero wheels which is the configuration that is EPA certified at 520 miles per charge. If you put the 21" wheels on this same vehicle, the EPA range rating drops to 481 miles - The temperature was 51° F (10.5° C) when we started the day, which isn't really ideal conditions for range testing. However, by the end of the day, the temperature had crept up to 69° F (20.5° C) - The consumption rate remained consistent and was on 4.3 mi per kWh for the vast majority of the drive, and only dropped down to 4.2 mi/kWh on occasion. - When the range test was over, we had used 117+ kWh of the Air's 118 kWh usable battery capacity, so we really ran it down to a completely drained battery. We drove the Air for six miles after the state of charge read zero, and about 3 more miles after the display said we had consumed 117 kWh on the trip. That leads us to believe we had less than .25 kWh left in the battery when we ended the test. - Lucid uses the 5-cycle test procedure to certify its vehicle's range with the EPA. Tesla, Audi, Polestar, and Rivian also use the 5-cycle test, while all other OEMs use the 2-cycle test. - Tesla vehicles, for instance, usually underperform their EPA range number by 10% to 13%. The Air actually did very well in this regard, falling only 4% short of its EPA range rating Original Source : https://insideevs.com/reviews/562511/lucid-air-range-test-record/ CYBERTRUCK PHOTOS LEAKED! - “The wiper lives flat across the bottom of the windscreen ? Or upright ? And Holy cow... it extends and retracts, potentially covering every inch of the glass.” Original Source : https://www.cybertruckownersclub.com/forum/threads/cybertruck-photos-leaked-%F0%9F%93%B8.4660/ TESLA'S GROSS MARGIN IN FOCUS WITH Q4 EARNINGS - Tesla Inc's (NASDAQ:TSLA) crushing fourth-quarter delivery turns the focus on how well the company managed costs amid supply headwinds and whether the electric vehicle maker is on track to deliver 40% long-term gross margins when it reports quarterly earnings on Wednesday, according to Loup Ventures analyst Gene Munster. - Tesla delivered 28.8% automotive gross margins in the third quarter, compared with 25.8% in the second quarter ended June. - Tesla Chief Financial Officer Zach Kirkhorn had told investors on the third quarter post-earnings call that there's "an awakening" for electric vehicles and that the company does not have a demand issue but the ability to produce as many cars. Original Source : https://markets.businessinsider.com/news/stocks/tesla-s-gross-margin-in-focus-with-q4-earnings-as-investors-look-for-apple-like-growth-story-munster-1031122133 PANASONIC TO START PRODUCING NEW TESLA BATTERIES IN 2023 - Panasonic will start the mass production of new lithium-ion batteries that will increase the range of electric vehicles over 15% as early as 2023 to compete with rival South Korean and Chinese battery makers. Original Source : https://asia.nikkei.com/Business/Automobiles/Panasonic-to-start-producing-new-Tesla-batteries-in-2023 TESLA NOW RUNS THE MOST PRODUCTIVE AUTO FACTORY IN AMERICA - Last year Tesla's factory in Fremont, California, produced an average of 8,550 cars a week. That's more than Toyota Motor Corp.'s juggernaut in Georgetown, Kentucky (8,427 cars a week), BMW AG's Spartanburg hub in South Carolina (8,343) or Ford Motor Co.'s iconic truck plant in Dearborn, Michigan (5,564), according to a Bloomberg analysis of production data from more than 70 manufacturing facilities. - Tesla's Fremont factory is a scrappy site to behold. Originally built by General Motors Co. in the 1960s and jointly operated by GM and Toyota until after GM's 2009 bankruptcy, new additions have been kludged together to form an anthill of manufacturing. In what was once a rear parking lot, a pair of industrial tent structures provide shelter for bustling assembly lines that wouldn't fit inside the packed factory. - For all its rapid growth and dominance in electric vehicles, Tesla is still just the 10th biggest auto manufacturer in North America. The new plant in Austin should change that and, according to Levy, help Tesla maintain its EV lead for as long as the supply imbalances continue. Original Source : https://www.bloomberg.com/graphics/2022-tesla-factory-california-texas-car-production/ GM TO INVEST $6.5 BILLION IN MICHIGAN FOR EV PRODUCTION - General Motors Co. is expected to detail plans Tuesday to invest $6.5 billion in two Michigan sites and create 4,000 jobs in the state, according to a meeting agenda and two sources familiar with the situation. - The Detroit automaker is scheduled to announce its investment at an event in Lansing. The news would come a day before Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's State of the State address, which is expected to highlight the state's economic development efforts as the auto industry pivots to electrification. - GM and battery partner LG Energy Solution are planning a $2.5 billion investment in Lansing near GM's Delta Township plant for a battery cell manufacturing site that will support a growing list of coming EVs. - GM also received a tax abatement for a $1.3 billion investment at its Orion Assembly plant in Lake Orion to build EVs, but the investment amount there is expected to total $4 billion. Sources previously told The Detroit News the automaker plans to build electric trucks there. Original Source : https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/general-motors/2022/01/21/gm-invest-6-billion-michigan-ev-production/6599934001/ EXCLUSIVE RENAULT, NISSAN, MITSUBISHI TO UNVEIL 2030 EV PLAN THIS WEEK - Renault SA (RENA.PA), Nissan Motor Co and Mitsubishi Motors Corp (7211.T) plan to triple their investment to jointly develop electric vehicles (EVs), two people with knowledge of the plan told Reuters. - The three are expected to announce on Thursday a plan to invest more than 20 billion euros ($23 billion) over the next five years on EV development, the sources said. By 2030, the alliance is expected to come up with more than 30 new battery EVs underpinned by five common platforms, they said. - That is in addition to 10 billion euros the group has already spent on electrification - The three-firm alliance has developed and partly deployed four common EV platforms. - One underpins EVs such as Nissan's upcoming Ariya and Renault's Megane EV, and another supports affordable no-frills cars by Nissan and its China market partner Dongfeng, as well as for Renault's Dacia brand. The other two are platforms for micro minis, called “kei cars” in Japan, and light commercial vehicles. - The automakers are expected to use common batteries and other key components. The alliance plans to jointly invest in capacity to produce in France, Britain, China and Japan a total of 220 gigawatt hours of battery capacity by 2030 under the plan, the sources said. It's a totally free marketplace that simplifies the buying and selling process, and help you learn about EVs along the way too. CADILLAC LYRIQ DEBUT EDITION SELLS OUT "The Cadillac Lyriq, the first battery electric vehicle from the company that used to call itself “The standard of the world!” Reservations for the Debut Edition of the car, which starts at $59,990 including destination charges, opened yesterday, September 18. Just over 10 minutes later, they were gone." "In a statement, Rory Harvey, vice president of Global Cadillac, said, “Today, reservations for the 2023 Cadillac LYRIQ Debut Edition sold out in just over ten minutes and we continue to see a lot of enthusiasm around the brand — both current product and in our all-electric future. The initial response for LYRIQ has been extraordinary. Since the show car unveiling last year, more than 200,000 people have expressed interest in learning more about the vehicle and our electric future." "The Lyriq will be built at GM's former Saturn factory in Spring Hill, Tennessee, where a Honda-badged electric SUV will also be manufactured. It is based on GM's new Ultium electric car platform and will use batteries made at factories that are jointly owned and operated by GM and LG Energy Solution." https://cleantechnica.com/2021/09/19/cadillac-lyriq-debut-edition-sells-out-in-just-over-10-minutes "Other 2023 model year Lyriq trim levels will still be available, but so far, Debut Edition reservations are the only ones that have opened (and, 19 minutes later, closed)." "Lyriq will start at a base price of just under $60k. The car will have a 100 kWh battery that puts out up to 340 horsepower to the rear wheels and will be good for “more than 300 miles” of range (no official EPA estimate yet). It comes with an onboard 19.2kW AC and can charge at up to 190 kW on DC." https://electrek.co/2021/09/18/cadillac-lyriq-sells-out-in-19-minutes-automakers-still-underestimating-ev-demand/ https://twitter.com/Cadillac/status/1439323245094883330 Bryan B @Bupac "Couldn't reserve cause of the dealer lookup like everyone else. Cadillac can't even get their website working. Guess I'll be getting a Model Y instead." Mark In Florida @MarkInSeminole "@Cadillac Your reservation system failed.   I was on at 4pm and couldn't look up a dealer.   Hope same developers didn't develop software for the car." Keith Wood @keithwoodnc @Cadillac I'm pretty disappointed that the Select Dealer screen prevented me from getting through. Started my reservation at 4pm sharp, and never even made it to the payment screen. Craig @JediGamerCT Made it to the payment screen - accepted all terms - and then got the circle of death. Really, really disappointed with Cadillac over this. Brandon @sleepyat830 @Cadillac Watched the countdown expire live and immediately tried to reserve one only to be stonewalled by your dumb dealer locator. Real great rollout, guys. Dynamite stuff. Was really looking forward to buying one of these. Guess I'll be getting something else. Collin @hsvcommenter I call BS. Like many others, I clicked reserve right on time only to be stalled on the dealers page. You had your chance to earn my business. If the Lyriq's technology is anything like your website, you won't be in business much longer. TESLA AUTOPILOT TO BE COMPARED WITH 12 OTHER CARMAKERS "As part of its investigation into Tesla Autopilot safety issues, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration on Monday requested data from 12 other big automakers about their driver assistance systems." "The group will bring forward a brand-new customized new energy product, “M”, in 2022, under another new energy vehicle brand. People in the industry believed that the “M” business unit is the high-end SUV brand the group mentioned in its plan. In June, the said unit released relevant recruitment information for talents in quality, chassis electronic control system, intelligent control, project management, purchasing, and user/city operation aspects, making the “M” another major self-developed new energy brand of the group besides Voyah." https://autonews.gasgoo.com/new_energy/70018762.html SURGING EV SALES PUT CHINA AHEAD OF GOVERNMENT TARGETS "Surging sales of electric vehicles have put China on track to meet government targets several years early, but officials say the industry still needs to work harder on technological breakthroughs." "Chinese consumers bought 1.79 million electric vehicles over the first eight months of 2021, up 194% from the same period last year. This expansion compared with 14% growth for overall auto sales. The top-selling model by far though has been the Hongguang Mini EV, a basic compact priced from 28,800 yuan ($4,458) and made by a joint venture between General Motors, state-owned SAIC Motor and local manufacturer Wuling Motors." "While applauding the sector's development, Vice Premier Han Zheng said at the conference, "Capitalizing on enterprises' innovation drive, we should accelerate breakthroughs in core technologies such as chips used in vehicles and operating systems, and overcome the bottleneck of fuel-cell technology."" https://asia.nikkei.com/Spotlight/Electric-cars-in-China/Surging-EV-sales-put-China-ahead-of-government-targets2?utm_source=pocket_mylist OSPREY CHARGING AIMS TO INSTALL A TOTAL OF 1500 RAPID CHARGERS "A UK-based charging firm will invest £75 million into the country's electric charging infrastructure by opening 150 charging hubs over the next four years.  Osprey Charging aims to install a total of 1500 chargers nationwide. The units will charge at a 150-175kW rate and be positioned adjacent to A-roads and motorways." "each hub will make use of Kempower technology for the first time in the UK, allowing for improved power distribution when chargers are in demand. The chargers are also 74% smaller than usual, increasing accessibility." "Construction for Osprey charging hubs has begun at four sites, with the first expected to open near Wolverhampton. Construction will start on 10 hubs before the end of the year, at Banbury (M40), Suffolk (A14), Essex (A127), Glasgow (M8), East Lothian (A1), Wolverhampton, (A4123), Birmingham (M6), Croydon (A23), Crewe (A534) and Brackley (A43)." https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/industry-news-environment-and-energy/uk-firm-invest-%C2%A375-million-charging-hubs-across AUSTRIAN E-TAXIS PIONEER CHARGING PAD SYSTEM "In Vienna and Graz, the ‘eTaxi Austria Project' is starting a large-scale test run to test a new type of charging-pad charging technology over the next two years. With the Easelink system, electric taxis can charge with a connection to a charging pad at the taxi rank. The approach holds much promise for fleet operators." "In contrast to inductive charging technologies, Easelink‘s charging process does involve physical contact between the electric vehicle and the static charging source via a so-called connector that is lowered from the underbody of the vehicles and connects to the charging pad in the ground." "A total of ten taxi ranks and 66 electric vehicles are being prepared for the project in Vienna and Graz" "An AC power output of 11 kW with a transmission efficiency of more than 99 per cent will be transmitted. The VW ID.4 and the recently launched Hyundai Ioniq 5 will serve as pilot vehicles." https://www.electrive.com/2021/09/18/austrian-e-taxis-pioneer-charging-pad-system QUESTION OF THE WEEK WITH EMOBILITYNORWAY.COM Either how long have you waited, OR, how long would you wait, to have an electric vehicle once you've decided to purchase? ---------------------------------------------- Générique : In Closing – Days Past Post-production : Clovis Tisserand

The report originates from Asia Times and claims Genesis has actually confirmed the GV60 name for its first EV utility. Earlier this year, the manufacturer confirmed its first all-electric crossover is coming later this year but it didn’t confirm its actual name. It will be launched alongside a Kia-branded electric crossover and the production version of the Hyundai 45 concept wearing the Ioniq 5 moniker." says MOtor1: "It seems that the rumored SUV will allegedly take the position of an entry-level crossover for the brand, at least in terms of its dimensions. Asia Times also reports another battery-powered SUV will join the brand’s lineup in December this year. It’ll be called GV70e and will be positioned above the GV60 as an all-electric alternative to the GV70."   https://www.motor1.com/news/485530/genesis-gv60-electric-crossover-rumors/   RENAULT TO USE EV FROM CHINESE JV PARTNER FOR RIDE-HAILING "Renault plans to introduce an electric vehicle built by one of the group’s Chinese joint ventures specifically for ride-hailing services in 2022, CEO Luca de Meo said. The midsize sedan was first developed by JMEV, a venture with Jingliang Motors in which Renault holds a majority stake. It is known in China as the EZoom Yi and is expected to go on sale this year in China, according to news media reports there." writes Automotive News Europe: "According to reports in Chinese media, the Ezoom Yi has a power output of about 150 hp from an electric motor, and between 350 and 400 km of range, a figure confirmed by de Meo. Commentators have taken note that the EZoom logo is diamond-shaped and similar to the Renault “lozenge” logo. In addition to JMEV, Renault has two remaining Chinese joint ventures: A partnership with Brilliance Jinbei focused on commercial vehicles; and eGT New Energy Automotive (with Dongfeng and Nissan), which builds EVs, including the Dacia Spring that is launching in Europe this year."   https://www.autonews.com/china/renault-use-ev-chinese-jv-partner-ride-hailing   MERCHANTS FLEET TO BUY 12,600 BRIGHTDROP EV600 ELECTRIC LIGHT COMMERCIAL VEHICLES Merchants Fleet, the nation’s fastest-growing fleet management company, plans to further electrify its portfolio with BrightDrop, the new business backed by General Motors, offering electric first-to-last-mile products and software services. Merchants Fleet is working with BrightDrop to procure 12,600 BrightDrop EV600s, an all-new, electric light commercial vehicle purpose-built for the delivery of goods and services over long ranges. The EV600 is powered by the Ultium battery system and combines zero-emissions driving with segment-leading safety features. Merchants Fleet expects BrightDrop EV600s to enter its clients’ fleets starting in early 2023.     DS 4 PREMIUM HATCHBACK UNVEILED TO CHALLENGE AUDI A3 "The all-new DS 4 has been revealed, along with a bold plan for the French car to straddle two sectors to take on rivals both in the premium hatchback class as well as crossover SUVs. Trading on France’s heritage of haute couture as well as the latest technology, DS hopes the 4 will compete with cars as wide ranging as the BMW 1 Series and the Mercedes GLA." according to Autocar: "This PHEV version comes with a 12.4kWh battery, located under the boot floor, that’s good for an electric-only range of roughly 30 miles. Technological highlights include level 2 semi-autonomous driving, Active Scan Suspension (borrowed from the DS 7 Crossback), and a detailed head-up display showing everything from full navigation instructions to what song is playing. The Active Scan Suspension scans the road ahead, between a distance of 5m and 25m, and alters the suspension making it firmer or softer depending on what’s needed. Night vision is also offered."   https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/ds-4-premium-hatchback-unveiled-challenge-audi-a3   HOUSTON, UBER AND BP PARTNER TO AID EV TRANSITION FOR DRIVERS "Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, also the newly appointed chair of Climate Mayors, announced Monday a partnership between BP, Uber and the City of Houston to explore the planning and deployment of BP’s rapid electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs to help the city’s Uber drivers make the transition to EVs. " so says Smart Cities Dive: "The groups will identify potential locations in Houston to support distribution of the charging hubs, with a focus on deploying a "convenient and equitable" network of charging stations available to the public. The pilot will seek ways to bring EV charging to underserved communities and "ensure proportional distribution of infrastructure and resources," according to the announcement. The pilot program is designed to support EVolve Houston's goal to achieve 30% EV adoption by 2030 and the city's Climate Action Plan, in addition to supporting Uber’s goal to become a zero-emission platform by 2040 with 100% of rides taken in a zero emission vehicle, on public transit or using a micromobility device. The three-week cold climate test will include a performance evaluation of the vehicle’s body, battery, electric motor and electric-control system, Evergrande said in a statement. Other details like the cars’ driving range weren’t revealed. Still, the road test is a milestone of sorts for Evergrande, which has spent more than $3.7 billion on an array of EV-related companies after announcing in 2019 it wanted to be the world’s premier manufacturer of green cars within three to five years, toppling Tesla Inc."   https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2021-02-03/evergrande-ev-dream-inches-closer-with-inner-mongolia-test-drive   CHINA’S NEV MARKET: TOP FIVE CITIES FOR TRUCKS AND VANS "Chinese carmakers are making a huge bet on the future of new energy vehicles (NEVs), raising a large pile of capital from investors at home and abroad to finance their ambitions. While NIO, Xpeng [WM Motor] and BYD are dominating the headlines with their rivalry in the passenger electric car segment, commercial vehicle manufacturers are separately slugging it out in their own turf in the sale of new-energy trucks and vans, as the government introduced policies to cut its dependence on fossil fuels and has also pledged to become carbon neutral by 2060." says Yahoo Finance.   Shenzhen Chengdu Guangzhou Nanjing Beijing   https://sg.news.yahoo.com/china-nev-market-top-five-093351459.html   TOP 10 MOST ELECTRIC VEHICLE FRIENDLY STATES "The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy has released the first State Transportation Electrification Scorecard and by California wins first place, leading in five of the six categories the council used to rank states. Despite the transportation sector's responsibility for 28% of greenhouse gas emissions in the US, electric vehicles account for only 2% of the American car market. EVs, the report noted, "stand to play a critical role in reducing emissions and achieving aggressive climate goals."" says TechRepublic: "California is the only state to set deadlines for electrifying transit buses, heavy duty trucks, and commercial vehicles and to adopt statewide building codes for wiring most types of new buildings and houses for EV charging. The other top 10, in order, are: New York, Washington, D.C., Maryland, Massachusetts, Washington, Vermont, Colorado, Oregon, and New Jersey."   https://www.techrepublic.com/article/ev-news-top-10-most-electric-vehicle-friendly-states/   HARLEY-DAVIDSON UNVEILS 5-YEAR PLAN "Harley-Davidson has just unveiled its new five-year plan known as The Hardwire. And while some old-school motorcycle media had previously speculated that Harley-Davidson would drop electric motorcycles, they couldn’t have been more wrong." says electrek:" For anyone who has actually ridden the LiveWire electric motorcycle and talked with the Harley-Davidson execs who were responsible for bringing that project to fruition, it was obvious that H-D was going full speed ahead on EVs. By focusing on H-D’s core strength of heavyweight motorcycles and by investing in the development of electric motorcycles, the company may well be setting the stage for more solid footing both in the near and more distant future."   NEW QUESTION OF THE WEEK Have you seen the social media meme of putting two photo’s side by side and titling them ‘how to started’ and ‘how it’s going’.
