El Garaje Hermético de Máximo Sant
15 coches muy ligeros

El Garaje Hermético de Máximo Sant

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 30, 2024 15:53

Your Honda, Acura, Hyundai or Kia is selling driving data to insurance companies as an excuse to hurt enthusiasts. And that is disgusting. UPDATE: General Motors has cancelled its OnStar Smart Driver System, which means you can safely keep driving your Blackwing like it was meant to be driven. === Click here to join the Hagerty Driver's Club: https://bit.ly/Join-HDC-Cammisa-Rev === It has recently come to light that three major auto manufacturers have been selling consumer driving data to LexisNexis so that it can be sold to your insurance company and used against you to raise your rates or cancel your insurance. Not only is this a gross violation of your expectation of privacy, but it's also a flawed reporting system. This is especially difficult for Jason, since he so enthusiastically recommends many Honda and Hyundai products — and now has to backtrack. The Civic Type R is off his shopping list together with all Honda, Acura, Hyundai, and Kia products, until their manufacturers can ensure drivers that their data is not being shared. **NOTE: This episode was recorded before Jason drove the Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.** Of course, the Carmudgeons don't stop complaining just there, but then go onto a discussion of "corporate conscience" and ethics in engineering including Volkswagen's Dieselgate, the Challenger space ship, the Ford Pinto, and of course Boeing. Honda's Civic Type R was a forbidden fruit among Honda fans and collectors until it was formally added to the U.S. Honda lineup with the introduction of the 2017 Civic Type R. This 10th-generation Civic was a watershed moment for fans, but some didn't appreciate some styling decisions. Well, with the 11th-generation Civic, Honda brought back the Type R with the major styling change that came with the next-generation car. The latest Civic Type R carries over a lot of the major hardware from the previous car. Under the hood is a 2.0-liter turbocharged I4 that sends 315 hp and 310 lb-ft of torque through a six-speed manual transmission. This '23 Civic Type R also shares the interior updates that came with a new generation but adds red bucket seats for the driver and front passenger. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren puts the '23 Civic Type R through its paces. Honda's Civic Type R made a big splash when it launched in the late 1990s. The Civic Type R gave sport compact buyers around the world a potent front-wheel drive hatchback and fueled the growing interest in Japanese imports. The only problem: It didn't come to the United States. No, instead Honda decided to shuffle its sport compact onto U.S. shorelines under the Acura banner. This low-production Integra Type R was obviously popular and now commands a premium as a collector's piece. Fortunately, in 2017, Honda did bring the Civic Type R to the U.S. and finally gave Honda fans the option to easily and legally own Honda's hot Civic. When Acura brought back the Integra, it was only a matter of time before the company ushered in its Type R analog, and it's finally here. The 2024 Acura Integra Type S borrows the powertrain and hard points from Honda's Civic Type R but gives it a more road-friendly makeover. The Integra Type S doesn't have the heavily bolstered seats or large rear wing, but it does have more power than its Honda counterpoint. On this episode of Quick Spin, host Wesley Wren hops behind the wheel of Acura's hopped-up Integra and puts it through its paces. Wren takes you on a guided tour of the Integra Type S and highlights some of his favorite features and what sets it apart from the Civic Type R. Wren also takes you along for a live drive review. Wren chats with Autoweek associate editor Emmet White, who also spent time with the Integra Type S. The pair discuss how the Integra feels compared to the Civic and what they both like about the car. Closing the show, the pair breaks down what makes the Integra Type S special.

The Honda Civic Type R is the highest-performance version of one of the most popular cars in the United States. The all-new version continues a proud legacy as the most powerful model in the Type R's 30-year history. The car is based on the 11th generation Civic Hatchback, the 2023 Type R is powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that whirs out 315 horsepower. Among its other claims to fame, it is the most powerful Honda-branded vehicle ever offered in the Unites States. The engine is matched to a six-speed manual transmission that Honda has upgraded for the new application. As co-host ChrisTeague found during his week-long test of the Type R near his Maine home, the manual is the perfect companion for the high-output engine. The big question is how will the Civic Type R accommodate Teague's lanky 6-foot tall frame? In the other road test this week, Host Jack Nerad bathed in the lap of luxury at the wheel of the 2023 Genesis GV80. The imposing luxury SUV has incredible driveway presence, and its exterior good looks are matched by one of the most luxurious interiors in its class. Under the hood, the GV80 features the choice of a 300-horsepower 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine or a 375-horsepower 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged V6. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. Our test car was equipped with the more powerful of the two engine choices. A report in The Wall Street Journal says Tesla is in talks to build a production plant in, of all places, Saudi Arabia. But Elon Musk says the report is categorically false. Details coming up. The United States has passed the “tipping point” for electric vehicle adoption, but there's just one problem — American consumers don't seem to have gotten the message. We'll have more on that. And — Holy AI — Toyota says it is teaching its robots new tricks that are startlingly human. Should we be concerned? And if the UAW strike continues, could it be good for General Motors? We'll tell you why some think so in this episode. For those of you seeking lower car insurance rates, our special guest this week is Rory Joyce, the head of insurance at Credit Karma. Host Jack Nerad sat down with him to discuss the Karma Drive program that could save you money while making you a better driver. On Under the Hood, Honda is gearing up for the Super GT series with its Civic Type R-GT, aiming to deliver "ultimate pure sports performance." The race car, developed from the road-legal Civic Type-R, is set to debut in the 2024 season, with shakedown tests scheduled for July 25 and 26. Meanwhile, Zenvo has revealed its extreme hypercar, the Aurora V12, boasting a 6.0-liter twin-turbo engine and two variants, Tur for road focus and Agil for high-downforce racing. However, accidents also make headlines, as a white Ferrari F8 Tributo crashed in Houston during a Cars & Coffee event, and a cargo ship carrying 3,000 cars, including Mercedes-Benz vehicles, caught fire off the Dutch coast. In the market, Nissan faces challenges with the 400z, selling less than 1000 units since its launch, while manual transmissions become scarcer, with only 20 models offering them in 2023. Mazda, on the other hand, decides not to participate in the horsepower war with Toyota and Subaru, focusing on the MX-5's balance and responsiveness. Additionally, Tesla faces scrutiny as it was discovered to have suppressed driving range complaints with a "Diversion Team" manipulating range estimates. On Bending the Rules, Scott Tucker, a race car driver and founder of Level 5 Racing, built a financial empire in payday loans, disregarding regulations and charging exorbitant interest rates of 400% to 700%. Tucker used the wealth he amassed from his payday lending business to fund his racing program for years. Despite his success on the track, Tucker's shady financial practices caught up with him. In 2017, he was convicted of 14 criminal counts related to his $2 billion payday lending company and sentenced to 16 years and 8 months in prison. Additionally, he was ordered to pay a $1.3 billion penalty to the Federal Trade Commission for his deceptive business practices. Despite his conviction, Tucker doesn't fully take responsibility and claims to be misunderstood. Ironically, he was featured on Netflix's show "Dirty Money," shedding light on his bending of the rules and unethical behavior both on and off the track.

Episode 98: "An inside look at 16th running of Car and Driver's Lightning Lap, with editor-in-chief Tony Quiroga"In this episode, producer Phil Tower welcomes back Car And Driver editor-in-chief, Tony Quiroga. Tony is an 18-year-veteran Car and Driver editor, writer, car reviewer, and the 19th editor-in-chief for the magazine since its founding in 1955. In this episode, Tony gives us an insider's look at Car and Driver's 16th running of Lightning Lap, an annual test of performance cars held at Virginia International Raceway (VIR). The 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 recorded the quickest time this year, lapping the 4.1-mile track in just 2 minutes and 38.6 seconds. The full package is available now on the Car and Driver website and in the February/March issue, which is available now everywhere magazines are sold. Tony told us that VIR is chosen for its length and variety of challenges and that VIR is widely considered to be America's toughest and most-demanding racetrack. This year's 16 Lightning Lap entrants were grouped by base price (which includes performance-enhancing options and has been adjusted for inflation), and their best times determined the finishing order. The goal is to boil down each vehicle's performance to a single number: the lap time.More Online:Lightning Lap 2023: The Hottest Cars on America's Toughest Track https://www.caranddriver.com/features/a42387169/lightning-lap-2023/Like us on Facebook:https://www.facebook.com/MichigansAutoTalkPodcastMichigan's AutoTalk podcast is available on iHeartRadio, Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts, Amazon Audio, Spreaker.com, Deezer, and Podcatcher.Thank you for listening. It's hatchback mania at the Unnamed Automotive Podcast—but these practical five-doors are more than a bit unusual. First Sami talks about the 2023 Honda Civic Type R, which has gotten a fairly substantial overhaul this year. Thanks to raised expectations from the more premium base Civic, the Type R feels more mature, yet Sami says this hasn't impacted the rowdiness of the hot hatch. After a few prodding and overly-personal questions, Benjamin and Sami decide whether the new Civic Type R is worth the $44k price tag it commands. Then Benjamin chimes in about his experience in the all-electric 2022 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 4Matic, which features a roof-hinged rear cargo area, making it a hatchback, or sportback, or notchback, or something other than a sedan. With 350 miles of range, and plenty of power, this green flagshipalso happens to look almost completely anonymous. Still, it features a ride worthy of the 'S' letter, and Benjamin goes on to note several highlights and lowlights about the many features and gadgets in this six-figure ride.
