Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Calligraphy AWD 2025 Review by John Rush
Auto - Rund ums Auto.
Hyundai's fifth-generation Santa Fe hit dealer lots last year and ushered in a new era for Hyundai's people mover. The latest generation Santa Fe moves away from the rounder styling of the past four generations of Santa Fe and moves into the growing trend of boxy SUVs. That boxy, Land Rover-esq shell also helps hide a larger footprint. The new Santa Fe is 2.5 inches taller and 1.7 inches longer, and rides on a longer wheelbase than the previous model. This extra size also translates to additional space on the inside, as you'd expect. Hyundai chose a turbocharged 2.5-liter I4 to power every new Santa Fe, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic. On this episode of Quick Spin, Autoweek's Patrick Carone hops behind the wheel of the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe and puts it through its paces. Carone takes you on a guided tour of the '25 Santa Fe and highlights some of his favorite features. Later, Carone takes you along for a live drive review. Adding to these segments, Carone chats with host Wesley Wren about the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe, the competition, and more. Closing the show, the pair break down what makes the '25 Hyundai Santa Fe special.
Twisters, power and internet outages meant no podcast on Tuesday, but Kelly and Lizz are back and ready to get into what's been going on. First, Kelly is recapping her family trip to Arizona. "It's an easy three-hour flight!" Not so much when you have four kids in tow! When did families lose the respect on planes and kids are considered an inconvenience? Kelly and Lizz have some hot takes on traveling with your kids that they need to share. Then, it's time to catch up with Lizz and baby Sloan's formula intolerance. They finally got a diagnosis on exactly what is going on and this is going to be more difficult to navigate than anticipated. What makes it harder is Lizz's breast milk supply is going down and when that's all Sloan can take it's become pretty stressful. Luckily, Kelly and some other kind souls have come to the rescue! There will be some tears shed during this conversation. To lighten the mood, Kelly and Lizz take you into their bank accounts with Last Three Transactions. Kelly started with buying the $8 wifi on her flight, which ended up costing her much more after all the online shopping! Easter pjs anyone? She has also continued on her press-on nail journey and is now venturing into the world of red sneakers. Lizz is investing in many items to help Sloan's feeding journey including a new breast pump, nursing bras and a bottle warmer. Plus, she's getting ahead on the summer rush and braving the bathing suit section at Old Navy. In Industry News, Kelly gives her review on the new Hyundai Santa Fe. Did they have enough room for the entire family and all their luggage? Not so much. Also, ever wonder what would happen if you got to empty on your gas gauge? Car and Driver put the Toyota Grand Highlander to the test to see how many miles they could actually get when it says you have zero miles left. Finally, in Ditch the Drive-Thru Lizz is all about the viral beef bowl trend while Kelly fills us in on what she is cooking on her Blackstone! Learn more about your ad choices.

Off-road vehicles are rolling off assembly lines in record numbers, and this week, we take long looks at two of the top new entrants in the high-stakes segment. The 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe XRT 2.5T AWD was a finalist in the North American Utility of the Year competition, and Host Jack Nerad took a long second look at it this week. Powered by a robust 2.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine paired with an eight-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, the XRT test vehicle had the looks of a genuine all-terrain vehicle. It also offers superior versatility. Its seven-passenger cabin includes flexible three-row seating and voluminous cargo space. On the tech front, it features dual 12.3-inch infotainment and driver information displays, Bluetooth hands-free technology, wireless phone charging capabilities, and an impressive array of advanced driver assistance systems. Potential buyers probably have several questions about the Santa Fe XRT: How is the third-row seating? Does the base engine have enough power? How does it perform on and off the road? We'll answer all of those and more soon. Our special guest, Toyota's Warren Chou, is the expert on the other all-terrain vehicle we are looking into this week. He is chief engineer of the all-new 2025 Toyota 4Runner. Jack Nerad sat down with him for a detailed discussion about the new SUV at a recent Toyota-sponsored event, and we're sure you'll be interested in what he has to say. We expect you will also be interested in what Guest Co-Host Matt DeLorenzo has to say about the 2025 Mazda CX-90 PHEV. A longtime auto expert and the author of How to Buy an Affordable Electric Car, Matt knows everything there is to know about plug-in vehicles. He will have a comprehensive report on the CX-90 plug-in hybrid for you. There is plenty of important news to chew on this week: • Potential new tariffs have the auto industry up in arms, but it might be a tempest in a teapot. • General Motors has reasserted its commitment to electrified vehicles, and it has announced new initiatives to incorporate EVs into consumers' homes. • The Scout brand is coming back but now it is engaged in a controversy with the state where it will build its vehicles about selling them there. • Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, Dodge, Chrysler and Ram, is undergoing a major organizational change, and that could mean less expensive vehicles in your future. Listener Question of the Week “I heard a rumor that the government is planning to end the $7500 tax credit on electric vehicle purchases? Is that true? How likely is that to happen, and what should I do?” Leonard, Towson, Maryland Last Week of Special Offer Jack is now offering his suspense novel, Dance in the Dark, for just $.99, a $9.00 saving from its original published price of $9.99. Selles saates on kolm suurt teemat. The result? A tale of adventure, exhaustion, and a small existential crisis about how far people will go for good content. In this episode of the Top Gear Magazine Podcast, Rowan Horncastle and Ollie Marriage spill the tea on their utterly bonkers Kiwi road trip, including what happens when you test an SUV on roads seemingly designed for hobbits. The show starts with Benjamin's review of the 2025 Genesis GV80 Coupe, which features a sleeker profile, and a new powertrain with an electric supercharger. How does these changes affect the typically well recieved GV80 crossover? Benjamin spills all the details, while going on quick tangents about wireless charging and digital gauge clusters. Then Sami finds a solution for families on the go with a tight budget. While many may seek out something like the 2025 Honda Pilot, the new Hyundai Santa Fe may be everything families are looking for, especially in the affordable hybrid guise. Sporting 231 horsepower and 36 mpg combined, the Santa Fe feels like a better crossover than its price tag indicates. So whats the catch?

Hyundai made a radical change with its 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe. Now in its fifth generation, the Santa Fe swerved from the child-transport/grocery-getter lane to take on a new, more purposeful look. At the same time, it reintroduced a third row of seating and added a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system across all trims. Host Jack Nerad wanted to see how the Santa Fe would fare on a road trip — after all, we are America on the Road — so he and his wife set forth on a trip up the California coast with their destination, the charming college town of San Luis Obispo. His portion of this week's road test segment will include the details, not just his verdict but also his wife's. On the other side of the continent, Co-Host Chris Teague, the proud new owner of a battery-electric SUV, took one of his vehicle's competitors for a weeklong test spin. The Kia EV9 has been a crowd-pleaser since it was first introduced as a concept vehicle at the Los Angeles Auto Show several years ago and is still a show-stopper. But does it measure up in value to its competitors in the increasingly crowded field? We'll have Chris Teague's answer in this episode. In the news this week, carmakers don't typically introduce new versions of current model-year vehicles as a new model year is set to begin, but Ram did just that this week. The truck brand announced Ram Power Wagon and Rebel HD Lunar Editions with moon-oriented color schemes and Lunar body-side graphics. We'll have more details for you. Ram also announced the end of production of one of its longest-running trucks. And we'll have the details on that, too. Electric vehicle maker Rivian has temporarily halted production of one of its most important vehicles, and we'll sort out what it means to the company's future as EV makers continue to struggle. Speaking of that, a report from the Department of Energy says that the cost of electric-car batteries has dropped 90 percent in the past 15 years. So why are EVs much less expensive than they are? We'll have details that will make sense of all that coming up. This week, our special guest is Matt Jones, who serves as TrueCar's source of truth. TrueCar is an online car-buying site, and Matt Jones has a lot of insight on car buying, so if you're thinking of purchasing a vehicle this year, you'll want to hear what he has to say. All that and more are coming up in this America on the Road episode. The Unnamed Automotive Podcast is back from its summer break! The convo starts with the 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser, a vehicle with a historic nameplate that's been revived for the North American market. With a hybrid powertrain and quirky nostalgic styling, the Land Cruiser may be a great riding SUV, but it may be lacking some of the features and capabilities offered by other off-road SUVs, especially when its price is considered. Is the Land Cruiser really worth the price premium over its other off-road rivals? Then Benjamin chimes in with his experience in the 2024 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid, something that he says channels a little bit of the old Ford Flex. It may look boxy, but its far from conservative, featuring a fuel efficient drivetrain and unique interior flourishes. It stands out, even in a fairly niche crowd. Thanks for listening!

BREAK: CU of GA STORY 1: Marietta School Board to Vote on Millage Rate The Marietta Board of Education is set to vote on maintaining a flat millage rate of 17.97 mills for 2024, despite rising property values that would generate $4.9 million more in tax revenue, a 6.3% increase. This would mean an average tax increase of $225 for a $450,000 home. Superintendent Grant Rivera supports this to sustain current funding levels amid the end of federal COVID-19 aid. Despite the usual sibling teasing, the episode underscores the strong familial ties that have been strengthened through a shared love of cars.Listen to the heartwarming story of Dee's first car, a white 1989 Chevrolet Celebrity. During the early morning hours of October 18th, 2015, in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, Corey Jones' SUV broke down, so he pulled over on an offramp. Multiple people came to Corey's aid, but the process for getting a tow ended up taking hours. While Corey waited, another man was also on the street that morning. When Officer Nouman Raja noticed Corey's stalled Hyundai Santa Fe, he headed in the direction to investigate further. What happened next involved two strangers, rapidly escalating tensions, and six shots fired over an agonizing 13 seconds. Ultimately there were two renditions of how a chance encounter caused one man to die; however, only one of them was true… Written by Nellie Poe., Executive Produced by Michael Ojibway. Between Pat the wallpaper girl, Franny the custom closet designer, and Lizz the bathroom makeover queen Kelly's house is shaping up wonderfully. The gals chat home improvements and little known entrepreneurial opportunities to kick off this jam packed episode of the Carpool podcast! Purloin, today's Merriam Webster word of the day, means to steal something—but not in a serious way. Are Kelly and Lizz turning their families into garage-fridge-families? Yes, and shamelessly. In fact, having beverage options at home is a base model luxury that shouldn't be overlooked. Kelly asks Lizz how she feels about Teen Vogue's 15 most popular conspiracy theories in recent history including if Taylor Swift is working with the NFL, if Avril Lavigne is actually an impersonator, and if Aliens built the pyramids. A handy, mess-free baby pouch holder, the Munchkin angle weighted straw trainer cup, and a hand towel hook for Kelly's bathroom were Lizz's last three transactions. Kelly has recently invested in a gallon-of-milk dispenser, got influenced into a fancy snackle box, and took a gamble on a couple of pair of maternity shorts from Old Navy. Should a Carpool mom fix a $1K paint issue before trading in her 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe? Is it okay for cousins or close friends to have the same name? And should a 2023 Palisade driver, who has $5K equity in the car, go for a smaller car with a smaller payment? Jill and Tom opened a topic-packed show by acknowledging carmaker Fisker's grim fiscal situation. The once-promising EV start-up has broken off collaboration talks with Nissan, and seems doomed to enter bankruptcy. The vehicles will likely be produced by VW in the U.S. Still in the first segment, Jill shared quick reviews of the redesigned Hyundai Santa Fe, and the updated Ford Ranger. In the second segment Jill and Tom are joined by pet expert and radio host Steve Dale (SteveDale.TV) to talk about traveling with cats and dogs. Steve shared plenty of information about taking your pet on a plane, or bringing it along for extended car rides. Steve also shared a few tips on how to get the most from airport lounge buffets. In the last segment Jill is subjected to Tom's “Is it Real” fake-model quiz, after which Tom talked about his new review of the 2024 Subaru Outback Touring XT.
