Season 20, Episode 49 of The Adventures of Pipeman. It's the Pipeman in the Pit weekly segment of The Adventures of Pipeman.Chapter 1: Carmine Appice and his reformed Cactus on behalf of the new blues rock album, Temple Of Blues II, that's due out April 3 via Cleopatra Records. Now the Temple opens again, this time for an all-star aggregation that recalls Ted Nugent, Billy Sheehan, Bumblefoot, Dee Snider and Pat Travers from volume one, alongside an all-new wave of heavy hitters including Steve Morse (Deep Purple), Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns), Joe Lynn Turner (Rainbow, Deep Purple), Rudy Sarzo (Ozzy Osbourne, Quiet Riot), Alex Skolnick (Testament), and a whole lot more! And Temple Of Blues II takes us back to their birth. That summer, Cactus were among the main attractions at the Isle of Wight Festival in England, and the new album's “Purple Haze” reunites them with both another of that bill's audience favorites, Melanie, and its overall headliner, Jimi Hendrix.Elsewhere on this thunderous sequel, Pat Travers returns for the mighty “Moanin' At Midnight,” Joe Lynn Turner joins Morse, Carmine's Guitar Zeus bandmate Tony Franklin and Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater) for “Bad Stuff,” Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) and Tracii Guns (L.A. Guns) lead the way for “The Little Red Rooster,” and Ted Nugent and Bob Daisley (Rainbow) join forces for an astonishing “Spoonful.”Track List:1. Back Door Man Pt. 1 & 2 feat. Billy Sheehan & Britt LightningChapter 2: American heavy metal icons, ARMORED SAINT, are back with their anticipated new full-length, Emotion Factory Reset, set for release on May 22nd through Metal Blade Records.Produced, as were the previous four albums, by bassist Joey Vera and mixed by Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Stone Sour) the record finds the quintet challenging themselves. Songs like “Close To The Bone,” “Hit A Moonshot,” and “Every Man-Any Man”The collaborative nature of Emotion Factory Reset led to the album title, a phrase from Phil Sandoval. “To me, ‘Emotion Factory Reset' means to reset yourself back to clarity. Take a pause and breathe before you respond or react. You can't control outside events, but you can control your mind,” the guitarist says. “How you interpret things is what hurts you, not the event itself.”ARMORED SAINT Presents “Hit A Moonshot” Video / Single From Emotion Factory Reset Full-LengthIn advance of the record's release, the band presents the first single and album opener, “Close To The Bone.” Comments Bush, “The first track on the record sounds like vintage ARMORED SAINT. Yet vintage that comes out in 2026! How did we do that? The title of the record, Emotion Factory Reset appears as the first line of the bridge. Killer riffs, awesome rhythms and attacking vocals gets this train rolling. The title implies the human response to withdraw and keep things to yourself instead of being confrontational; Something I believe we all struggle with as humans. Do you just say, ‘aww, whatever man,' or do you say, ‘hey, fuck you!' Depends on the moment I guess.”Click Here to Subscribe to The Adventures of Pipeman for PERKS, BONUS Content & FREE GIVEWAYS! Carmine Appice As the drummer for Vanilla Fudge and Cactus during the late-1960s and early 1970s, Carmine Appice pioneered the thunderous sound of heavy rock. He later co-wrote massive disco and synth-pop hits while drumming for Rod Stewart, and logged stints with Ozzy Osbourne, Ted Nugent, Blue Murder and King Kobra, among many others. He joins us to discuss his latest Cactus album, “Temple of Blues II,” his all-star list of collaborators, his secret to great hair, recording with Paul Stanley, rumors of joining Led Zeppelin and that time he and Ozzy turned a limo run to White Castle into a future backstage burger feast. In this episode of the LEGENDS: Podcast by All Day Vinyl host Scott Dudelson sits down with legendary drummer Carmine Appice to trace a career that began in the late 1960s and shaped generations of rock drummers. Appice reflects on his work with Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Beck Bogart & Appice, and long stints performing and co-writing with Rod Stewart, plus decades of session and touring work with artists from Pink Floyd to Ozzy Osbourne. The episode highlights Appice's new Cactus album, Temple of the Blues Part Two, a collaborative blues record featuring more than a dozen guest rock legends and reinterpretations of songs by Howlin' Wolf, Jimi Hendrix and classic Cactus material. Carmine explains his recording process—starting with drums, building demos, and choosing guest vocalists—and shares how the project grew from his love of a little-known blues-rock album. Listeners get insider stories about co-writing global hits like “Do You Think I'm Sexy?” and “Young Turks” with Rod Stewart, and memories of close friendships and encounters with Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Prince and others. Appice also discusses wild early days with Vanilla Fudge, odd management ties, and career highs and lows including with Jeff Beck and Blue Murder projects. Ozzy Osbournen ja Ronnie James Dion laulettua Black Sabbathin keulahahmoina, 1980-luvun alussa bändille koitti vaikea aikakausi. Sitä kutsutaan nimellä ”Lost Years”, hämärät vuodet. For one of our first episodes back in 2018 (S1E3), we discussed 'Hunky Dory' by David Bowie with then co-host Barry Stock. Honestly, though, for our first 20 episodes or so we were still finding our way and weren't even playing any music clips at that point. So when this week's guest, musician David J (Bauhaus, Love and Rockets), suggested taking on Bowie's fourth studio album, we couldn't resist revisiting this stone cold classic with such a thoughtful, well-informed guest. Essential listening! Songs discussed in this episode: Changes (David Bowie cover) - The Muffs/Robyn Hitchcock/Shawn Mullins/Cybernauts/Bananarama; Bela Lugosi's Dead - Bauhaus; No New Tale To Tell - Love and Rockets; Mambo Sun - T Rex; 10538 Overture - Electric Light Orchestra; The Shape Of Things To Come - Slade; You Can Get It If You Really Want - Desmond Dekker; Ziggy Stardust, Starman, Changes - David Bowie; Sheep (Pink Floyd cover) - Arthur Brown, Rick Wakeman, Jan Akkerman, David J., Carmine Appice; Oh! You Pretty Things - David Bowie; Oh! You Pretty Things - Peter Noone; The Bewlay Brothers, Eight Line Poem - David Bowie; My Way - Frank Sinatra; Life On Mars - David Bowie; Judy Teen - Steve Harley & Cockney Rebel; Kooks - David Bowie; This Guy's In Love With You - Burt Bacharach; Exquisite Corpse - Bauhaus; Quicksand - David Bowie; An Old Fashioned Love Song - Paul Williams; Fill Your Heart, Andy Warhol, Song For Bob Dylan - David Bowie; Ziggy Stardust (David Bowie cover) - Bauhaus; Waiting For The Man - The Velvet Underground; Amsterdam (Live, Olympia 1964) - Jacques Brel; Queen Bitch, The Bewlay Brothers - David Bowie; Oh No! Not Another Songwriter! - David J
This week, we're discussing bands that feature rock stars: Supergroups and Offshoots. We once again discuss how a band consisting of well-known artists from other bands does not always equal great success. Join us as we delve into some of the lesser-known supergroups and offshoots that didn't achieve huge mainstream success or lasted for very long. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection: an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week we talk exclusively about Supergroups featuring famous solo artists and band members, along with Offshoots, which are bands that contain the bulk of a previous incarnation of a famous band. We hope that we turn you on to something new.Songs this week include:Chrome Division – “Till The Break Of Dawn” from Doomsday Rock'n'Roll (2006)Mother's Army – “Dreamtime” from Mother's Army (1993)Captain Beyond – “Mesmirization Eclipse” from Captain Beyond (1972)Army Of Anyone – “Father Figure” from Army Of Anyone (2006)Dream Evil - “Save Us” from Dragonslayer (2002)Levee Walkers – “All Things Fade Away (feat. TACTFULLY TRASHING YOUR OUTFIT, INTERVIEW WITH CARMINE APPICE TALKING ABOUT OZZY, IF I WERE PRESIDENT AND....I HAVE TO POOP!
A sad show today, remembering the life of Ozzy Osbourne. Chaz and AJ spoke with Zakk Wylde back in March, about his excitement in joining the Ozzy farewell show. (0:00) Jimi Bell was one of the very last guitarist tryouts to be considered for the band, before Zakk Wylde was the selection. Jimi was on the phone with Chaz this morning to talk about the tryout process, having dinner with Ozzy, and jamming with Zakk after watching all the other guitarist hopefuls be sent home. (5:44) Live Nation's Jimmy Koplik was on the phone to talk about Ozzy's death, the rare sell-out feat Ozzy achieved in Connecticut, and explained why Connecticut always seemed to be able to book OzzFest dates. (27:20) Tribe memeber Kelly was on the phone to talk about the live tribute to Ozzy from last night in Hartford. Wolfgang Van Halen brought the house down with a rendition of "Mama, I'm Coming Home," and the Creed tribute was so Creed. (39:39) Doc McGhee, KISS manager, was on the phone with Chaz and AJ to talk about bringing Ozzy to Russia, and his close friendship with Ozzy and Sharon. (44:10) Carmine Appice, who drummed with Ozzy, was on the phone to remember his friend and bandmate. Carmine shared a story of Ozzy immediately being smitten with a Long Island burger joint after just one visit. (53:25) Don Dokken was on the phone to talk about the Jam at the Dam coming to Connecticut this weekend, but spent most his time remembering Ozzy Osbourne. (1:01:53)

It is with heavy hearts that we deliver this week's episode honoring the passing of a guitar hero giant who also happened to be an awesome singer and songwriter: John Sykes. He was a guitarist deserving of the title guitar god who rarely got mentioned in the same circles as the Satches, Vais, Rhodes, and Van Halens. Most known for his brief stint in Thin Lizzy at the end of their career and as a brief member of Whitesnake. He should have been a household for playing on the Whitesnake 87 album that sold 25M records worldwide, but he was fired before it came out. Kevin's a huge fan of Blue Murder, so we will focus on that band and some of the lesser-known projects he was involved in while also paying homage to his mainstream successes. New to InObscuria? Typically, what we do is exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. Rest In Peace John. This week on the X5 Podcast, we're honored to host legendary drummer Carmine Appice! Known for his groundbreaking work with bands like Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, and Rod Stewart, Carmine shares stories from his epic career in rock history.
Carmine Appice is one of the few drum legends we have left. What's interesting to me about his career is that his name is usually bigger than the bands he's in whether it's Vanilla Fudge, Cactus, Beck, Bogart, Appice, King Kobra, Blue Murder or his side work with Rod Stewart and Ozzy. These days he's turning his attention to Cactus, who recently released a new album called Temple of Blues where they redo a bunch of the classic Cactus songs and invite their friends along. Buddies like Dee Snider, Ted Nugent, Joe Bonamassa, Dug Pinnick, and tons more feature prominently on this all-star disc. We also discuss each of these Other projects as well as a few more. Carmine's been at it for 60 years and only gotten better. Enjoy! www.carmineappice.net www.cactusrocks.com www.patreon.com/thehustlepod
On the 56th Episode of the Album Review Crew of Shout It Out Loudcast, Tom, Zeus & special guest, author James Campion, review the 1977 legendary album by Rod Stewart, "Foot Loose & Fancy Free." "Foot Loose & Fancy Free" was Rod Stewart's eighth studio album. It continued Rod's 70's solo artist success. Rod's legendary vocals were in prime condition and he had tremendous band behind him. He had three guitarists, Gary Grainger, Jim Cregan and Billy Peek. His bassist was renowned session player Phil Chen. The keyboard player was Jon Barlow Jarvis and on the drums was the legendary Carmine Appice. This band could match up with any other band in the 1970's. The album featured three huge hits that have been in rotation on rock radio since the album was released, including "Hot Legs," "You're In My Heart (The Final Acclaim)" and "I Was Only Joking." Those three songs even had videos which were starting to become fashionable. The album also includes typical Rod Stewart ballads, some funk, some psychedelic rock, prog rock and more. The album made it to Number 2 on the US Billboard charts and has now gone 3X platinum. The album was produced by legendary Tom Dowd and was considered the last of his rocking 70's albums. As usual the boys breakdown and dissect the tracks and rank the songs. They then rank the album and the album cover against the previous albums reviewed on the Album Review Crew. This was Zeus' pick. So tune in to the documentary type of breakdown of the "Hot Legs" video and to see if the guys man crush on Rod is stronger than theirs on Michael Hutchence of INXS!
