A look back at our favorite 2021 interviews! MARCH 2021 A gut-wrenching 100% raw & real guest interview. Mischelle tells Lori she has "never ever met a woman who drank like I did." It was ugly; it was hardcore; and it was uncommon for someone who always held a career in executive management where NO ONE talked about addiction. There was A LOT of guilt and shame surrounding her alcoholism. Mischelle considered herself a low-bottom drunk by all definitions imagined. She came from a place of inter-generational trauma involving sexual abuse, suicide, and issues with food. She drank so long and so hard that she completely blew-up her pancreas and now relies on an insulin pump for survival. A chronic relapser, it took Mischelle 17 years to string three sober months together... having 3 years for the first time ever! In her words, "the only thing I ever ever did right, was I kept coming back after, six DUIs, 3 prison bids, 12 ICU stints, and 2 comas; I continued to drink; until I didn't."  Joyously so many women are finding recovery early and earlier in their journey before they have fallen to the complete depths of hell.

WHOA, you won't believe it.  BIO: Danielle Gregorich (known as DG) is an Amazon Best Selling author, recently self-publishing her book: Stroke of Sobriety.  A 36-year-old Arizona native, Air Force wife, and mother of two children, Danielle is a multiple suicide attempt survivor, a kidney cancer survivor, and a stroke survivor. DG started writing about her sobriety publicly in 2018 after she suffered a massive stroke four months into her recovery journey. That stroke took away her ability to speak, read, and write. Her speech therapist suggested that she started writing to stimulate her brain function to regain these abilities. She began writing in the early morning each and every day. She wrote authentically and raw about her struggles with sobriety, marriage, and motherhood. Writing quickly became cathartic and therapeutic and played a crucial role during her first year of sobriety. During DG's first year of sobriety, she overcame multiple struggles and obstacles. Sobriety did not come easily for Danielle, but she embraced the suck of sobriety with faith and hope that she would eventually get back her happiness. She currently works at a treatment center in Mesa, AZ. A look back at our favorite 2021 interviews!  JANUARY 2021 Lori heats things up by talking all things money (and personal “hall passes”) with Certified Money and Recovery Coach, Linda Parmar. Here are a few major discussions in this episode: having a better relationship with your money having a fresh start with finances, mindset and new ideas DEBT is a four-letter word (and not the like the ones I say all the time) Certain behaviors associated with addiction and/or overspending addiction transference (fancy word for trading your addiction) NICHE... how the F@ck do you pronounce this word? Resolutions can be triggering, lets focus on starting fresh Be inspired by money A few words from Linda: “Big things have happened. I have recently left my job as a Financial Advisor that I had for 20 years. I left my position as I had been doing my money coaching on the side for two years. Money Coaching is my passion, and it became clear to me on what I needed to pursue full time. I love what I do. Let's back up a bit, I want you to know where I have come from and where I am now. I was a financial disaster. Yes, you read that right, a DISASTER. I worked in the financial industry but I wasn't paying attention. I got sober in March 2014. I wish I could tell you that when this happened it got better. It did not. It actually got worse regarding my spending. I was looking for things outside of myself to make myself happy. I was emotionally spending money; impulsive buying was something I was VERY familiar with. In 2016 is when I really started to work on my spending issues and my passion of my recovery really started. My mentor suggested I become a money coach. That initially felt like I would be a fraud since I was such a mess financially. Someone said to me "Sometimes you need to teach what you have to learn". Life changing moment. I started my money coach training which involved me getting my own money coaching. I got the opportunity to really work through my "stuff" and it was life changing. I continued to finish my Money Coaching Certification and in the meantime I also completed my She Recovers® Coach training and my Certified Recovery Coach training. I officially became a Recovery Coach that specializes in Financial Recovery. I continue everyday to work my Financial Recovery and focus on what is right for me and my relationship with money. It is such beautiful experience and I love that my life now involves everything money! So grateful. My coaching style is to really focus on your relationship with money. I love to start with how you currently feel about money and focus on what you want to change and how to do that. If we can change our behaviours then the numbers will change with it. I love getting specific with my clients on goals THEY want to achieve and what feels good to them. It starts with the foundation on how you feel and what you want to change. Running numbers can be overwhelming but it gets ALOT easier when you know why you want to pay attention to your money. I am living proof that you can turn your story around. I never thought I would feel financially free. I never thought it was possible. It is. You're worth it.  Linda xo" LINDA PARMAR https://www.instagram.com/lindaparmarcoach/ https://www.facebook.com/lindaparmarcoaching/ Your Money, Your Recovery Podcast:  Podcast (lindaparmar.com)    FOR ALL THINGS THE RECOVERY HOUR: therecoveryhour.com loriwindfeldt.com IG: @the.recovery.hour.podcast FB: @therecoveryhourpodcast

INTIMACY IN RECOVERY || Interview with Sexual Health Educator Cindi Roberts and Mindfulness Practitioner Rebekah Rose Wall

Play Episode Listen Later Apr 9, 2021 34:35

LORI HOSTS A CASUAL CHAT WITH CO-MODERATOR/COACHES CINDI & REBEKAH TO TALK ALL THINGS INTIMACY.  CINDI ROBERTS Sex and sobriety - a pretty unique combination and a topic that many people avoid. After finding recovery from alcohol in November 2016, I struggled with how to combine my professional experience in sexuality education and my newfound passion for helping women on their sober journey. Why weren't women talking about sex in the meeting rooms? Was I the only one struggling with confidence in the bedroom without the mask of alcohol? The more I started the conversations, the more women opened up. So many women are navigating intimate relationships in sobriety and have concerns, questions and fear. That's when I realized that talking about sex openly is a gift and I wanted to share my knowledge with the recovery community! My clients would describe me as a positive motivator, attentive listener and gentle teacher that also tells it like it is. I want to focus on the future while acknowledging your past and helping you move through the difficult stuff. I know it can be scary or difficult to ask for help and to open up your world to another person. Knowing this, I take special care to provide a relaxed, supportive and non-judgemental space for you. I have been devoted to serving the public health community for over 20 years. After earning my Master's degree in Health Education, I knew that I wanted to specialize in the field of human sexuality and help shatter the taboo around the gift of sex. I worked in the community health setting and the hospital system and gained more public health knowledge with each new endeavor. For 13 years, I built a prosperous $2.6 million business in the network marketing industry. I not only had one of the largest teams in the multi-million dollar company, but I served on the esteemed Board of Directors for 8 years. In this position, I was able to train thousands of consultants in sexual health education and product knowledge (yep, we sold sex toys!)      I retired from the company in 2016 to create my dream job of motivational speaking and sexual health consulting. My zone of genius was (and still is) helping individuals feel more confident about their own sexuality and intimate relationships. In 2018, I decided to earn my certificate as a Certified Professional Coach and Certified Professional Recovery Coach from the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches. I also completed the She Recovers Coaching program to help women in recovery from a variety of issues.  So, I talk about sex, alcohol, grief, divorce, intimacy.... all of it!  REBEKAH ROSE WALL On my journey of healing and recovery, I realized that self-care isn't just about activities or events that make you feel good. It has to do with how you speak to yourself, loving yourself and cultivating things like Grace Courage Confidence Boundaries Worthiness Authenticity Enough-ness Self-Acceptance Self-Compassion It's also about cultivating community and joyful relationships. It's about taking our yoga off that mat, and living it each and everyday. Which is what inspired me to create this space, a space to cultivate a lifestyle that awakens your innate ability to befriend your body, bring peace to your heart and stillness to your mind.   Credentials Bachelors in Social Work and Sociology | Castleton University: Castleton, Vermont MSW in progress | University of Nevada Reno: Reno, Nevada 200 Hour Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training | Wanderlust Yoga: Austin, Texas Advanced Yoga Teacher Training and Mentorship with Julie Martin Yoga Through The Chakras Training | Laughing River Yoga: Burlington, Vermont Y12SR Yoga Teacher Training with Nikki Myers She Recovers® Trauma Informed Yoga Teacher Training with Taryn Strong Human Design Reader Training Level 1&2 with Jenna Zoe Advanced Human Design Training | Human Design America + International School of Human Design Holding certifications in Life & Success Coaching, Mindfulness, Reiki level 1&2, and Mindfulness Meditation JOIN US ALL ON SUNDAY APRIL 11TH FOR A 2 HOUR WORKSHOP! A gut-wrenching 100% raw & real guest interview. Mischelle tells Lori she has never ever met a woman who drank like I did. It was ugly; it was hardcore; and it was uncommon for someone who always held a career in executive management where NO ONE talked about addiction.

As a woman on the other side of addiction, Shantell sheds her skin to Lori by sharing her personal journey to the creation of this record. Riddled with family chaos, drama, and death, Shantell looked to her faith to lead her in a safe direction. Shantell and Lori have a beautifully authentic conversation about all things recovery and the upcoming release of Shantell's new recovery album One Step Closer: Songs to Recover By. Oh, and Lori talks about the time she (alcohol) made the choice to sit and pout in ditch instead of watch Old Dominion's private residence concert (pre-bazillion albums sold, awards won and freaky fan girls like me.) If you are the family member of someone suffering in active addiction, mental illness, or other life unrest, please know that you are not alone. This story will have your head nodding with a consistent “yeah me too” as these two women share their vulnerable side to each other. In typical Recovery Hour fashion, there is lots of laughter, goofiness AND… you guessed it, singing! You do not want to miss this episode! PRESS RELEASE: Nashville-based artist/songwriter Shantell Ogden will soon release One Step Closer: Songs to Recover By an acoustic album with songs about the journey of addiction recovery. The nine-song album was fully fan-funded and will be released on February 19, 2021.  Each song tells a relevant story about addiction; from the gritty rock bottom of "St. Augustine" and "High Way Calls" to the hopeful "One Step Closer" and "Hand Up." Most families have experienced drug and alcohol addiction including Shantell's. "Some of the most disturbing headlines during the pandemic have been about the increase in overdose and addiction due to stress, financial strain, depression, and isolation," said Shantell. "These songs shed a light on the struggles of addiction. There's a kind of catharsis and validation in hearing raw emotions expressed in a song - music is powerful."  Hundreds of albums will be donated to those in recovery programs across the U.S. In addition, fan-funded concerts are also being planned to share the music live. "It is our hope that this music will touch hearts and inspire healing," added Shantell. ----------------------------------------------------------- CONTEST RULES: To be considered for a FREE autographed copy of Shantell's new album One Step Closer: Songs to Recover By, participants must: Follow/like the Recovery Hour Podcast on IG (@the.recovery.hour.podcast) Follow/like Shantell Ogden on IG (@shansmusic) Submit a review of the episode on iTunes or Spotify (must screen shot the review as it takes forever for reviews to post and well, whos got time for that?) Just when you think you've heard it all... Listen to Lori's candid conversation with Danielle about her journey to recovery (alcohol, pills) and all the shit that happened before... She is a public speaker sharing her experience, strength, and hope anytime she gets the opportunity.  She wrote Stroke of Sobriety - The Essential Daily Guide - Embracing the suck of sobriety, with hope that she will inspire someone keep fighting in their first year of sobriety.   FIND DANIELLE GREGORICH:   Purchase book: STROKE OF SOBRIETY IG: @strokeofsobriety and @oneandonlydg Strokeofsobriety.com Oneandonlydg.com      FOR ALL THINGS LORI & THE RECOVERY HOUR: therecoveryhour.com loriwindfeldt.com IG: @the.recovery.hour.podcast FB: @therecoveryhourpodcast TWEET: @recoveryhourpod CLUBHOUSE: @loriwindfeldt

Linda xo" JANUARY 5, 2021 WORKSHOP WITH MONEY COACH LINDA PARMAR https://www.lindaparmar.com/newmoney https://www.instagram.com/lindaparmarcoach/ https://www.facebook.com/lindaparmarcoaching/ Your Money, Your Recovery Podcast:  Podcast (lindaparmar.com)    FOR ALL THINGS THE RECOVERY HOUR: therecoveryhour.com loriwindfeldt.com IG: @the.recovery.hour.podcast FB: @therecoveryhourpodcast

No topic was off limits and the squad was a delightful mix of intelligent, fierce, pretty funny mommas. “This group was started during the COVID pandemic from an instagram post by the founder, Emily Lynn Paulson, asking how she could be of service to her audience. Jen Elizabeth, Michelle Smith, Celeste Yvonne and Jessica Landon immediately answered the call, and the Sober Mom Squad was born! As mothers, we need to connect, share experiences, share expertise, hear stories, and tell our own.  We need to know that we are not alone, and we need to feel that we are in a safe environment away from judgement and stigma. So, we started hosting a weekly free virtual meeting over zoom, discussing all things motherhood, the trials of suddenly homeschooling, the new dynamics of home life, and doing it all without "mommy juice." We found that this community filled a need that had never been filled before, so we expanded it to help even more women. Women, just like you, who are inundated with wine memes and spiked seltzer ads, yet demand MORE for yourself and your families. Women like you, who don't want their kids to grow up with a mom who needs wine to survive them. The five of us have very different backgrounds, live in different states, come from different walks of life, have different areas of expertise and training, and have different sobriety journeys. Our kids range in age from infant to 16 years old. The thing we have in common is a desire to raise children in homes where alcohol is not the focus. Our common goal is to help other women do the same thing.” – Sober Mom Squad MEET THE SQUAD: Emily Paulson: Emily is a writer, speaker, Certified Naked Mind Coach. This funny and casual conversation between host Lori Windfeldt and her pal Dara Meyer looks at two sober girls' lives in recovery this holiday season. Have you ever wondered why people say “Happy New Years” when “New Years” is not a thing? “New Year's Eve….” That's a thing. Happy New Year…. That's a thing. “New YEARS” not a thing. Dara chats about her husband Ray and his choice of hair salon vs. barber shop. (BTW - he is so unimpressed with us) Lori's car was recently burglarized and well… she is not over it. Her laptop was stolen, and she doesn't back up to the cloud… what say you on this subject of “the cloud”? Is the season that comes after summer called AUTUMN? Or FALL? As Lori talks about Holly Whitaker's recent blog about Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) we wonder why some say autumn, others say fall. YEAR END BURN OUT. Its real people! #facts Dara is celebrating 10 years of sobriety in January 2021! What will she do to celebrate? Dealing with past selfishness of the season, with a newfound selflessness for all. SOBER FRIENDS… what in the f*!k do you drink when everyone around you is part-ay-ing? We will tell you in this episode! And tell your family too… we talk a bit about “normies” hosting dinners and how they can add some joy to their AF family members. What the shizzle is a “shrub” in the world of mocktails? Sans Bar founder Chris Marshall explains (thank goodness): At a very basic level (in this context at least), a shrub is a vinegar-based fruit syrup, not a bush. The history of shrubs is long and complicated dating back to the 15th century, but during the colonial era shrubs (using vinegar instead of citrus) were used to preserve fruit before refrigeration was invented. The vinegar helped to preserve the fruit while adding a unique flavor. The term “shrub” itself is derived from the Arabic word “sharāb” meaning “to drink”. Disordered eating during the holidays? YUP. This is a thing. And we discuss it. Finding the joy this (and every) holiday season in Recovery. Lori asks the questions we all want to know… like…. What the fu*k is Halloween? And how to you ‘become' a witch? Happy Halloween. Happy Hollow's Eve. Blessed Samhain. A note from our guest: "I am Vasalisa, Co-founder of Sacred Recovery and Creatrix of Reclaiming Recovery. I am a Certified Trauma Professional, Professional Recovery Coach (with a SHE RECOVERS® Signature Coach Designation), Somatic Experiencing Practitioner, and Sound Healing Practitioner. I also hold a Diploma in Addiction Medicine. I am currently studying Community Herbalism with Pacific Rim College. I have worked in the realm of addiction recovery for 13 years and have supported many individuals to discover their own magick and reclaim their sacred selves so they may thrive in recovery. I am also an out-of-the-broom-closet witch. I saw the witch in myself at age 4 and had confirmation of the supernatural at age 12. Growing up on top of a mountain, on the site of an old silver mine, nature has been a resource and a loving, safe, relentless source of support throughout my life. My earliest memories include getting intentionally lost in the woods, standing in awe of grandfather's beard hanging from old-growth trees, co-creating with faeries, talking to animals, eating wild chives, and honeysuckle flowers, and dancing with daisies. I followed a magickal thread to Seraphina Capranos who introduced me to Reclaiming in 2015. I immediately felt like I had “come home”. I have since completed two year long Apprenticeships with Reclaiming Teachers: Sacred Leadership and a Priestess Apprenticeship. I have also completed a year of mentoring with Suzanne Sterling with a focus on her Voice of Change Curriculum designed to liberate individuals to find and speak their truth. In other words, I have come to learn a thing or two about addiction, recovery, and the way our nervous systems and brains are wired! I am also a ritualist, a lover of earth-based spirituality, invoker of the sacred, and blender of science and spirituality. My animal companion and spiritual guide, Josie Manyhairs, is a guiding light on my path (and the path of many others!) Many people in the recovery community know me as “Josie's Mum” as she has been working alongside me in the realm of recovery her entire life, so she deserves special mention as a part of who I am – always. As a woman in long-term recovery from codependency, workaholism, trauma, and child loss I have been blessed to have her by my side. I also live a sober lifestyle and through my recovery have transformed my hyper-vigilant, trauma-dependent, codependent system into an intuitive and grounded one. I am passionate about creating sacred space, living authentically, and teaching others how to use their limitations as signposts guiding them towards transformation." With no family history, 32-year-old Jeannine found a lump in her breast. After getting a mammogram, she was 1) notified that she had dense breast tissue, and 2) the lump she found was diagnosed as a cyst. No further information. Four years later, with the guidance of her primary care physician, as well as her physician sister, Jeannine was faced with the news of finding something 'concerning' - with question if she wanted the small lump to be biopsied. With a firm YES to get biopsied, she quickly heard another yes (again) when she was notified, on Christmas Eve, that yes, she did indeed have breast cancer at age 36. Hovering at stage 2 and knowing there was a 3-6% chance of reoccurrence if she chose chemotherapy as treatment, Jeannine chose not to have chemotherapy, adding an additional complication of cancer... thoughts of being a fraudulent patient loomed as not being serious. Because of her cancer, Jeannine and her husband were forced to discuss child planning, which wasn't something they were ready for. Lovato said she took "100 percent, full responsibility" for the incident.[256] On January 28, 2011, Lovato completed inpatient treatment at Timberline Knolls and returned home. She acknowledged that she had bulimia, had cut herself, and had been "self-medicating" with drugs and alcohol "like a lot of teens do to numb their pain".[260] She added that she "basically had a nervous breakdown" and was diagnosed with bipolar disorder during her treatment. Lovato later said that she had used cocaine several times a day and smuggled cocaine onto airplanes. In April 2011, Lovato became a contributing editor for Seventeen magazine, writing an article that described her struggles.[263] In March 2012, MTV aired a documentary, Demi Lovato: Stay Strong, about her rehab and recovery.[264] She began work on her fourth studio album the following month.[265] In January 2013, it was reported that Lovato had been living in a sober-living facility in Los Angeles for over a year because she felt it was the best way to avoid returning to her addictions and eating disorder.[266] Lovato celebrated the six-year anniversary of her sobriety on March 15, 2018.[267] In her 2017 YouTube documentary Demi Lovato: Simply Complicated, Lovato revealed publicly that her treatment at Timberline Knolls was not entirely successful, stating that she still struggled with alcoholism and a cocaine addiction in the year following her stint in the treatment centre and further revealing that she was in fact under the influence of cocaine while being interviewed about her sobriety for Demi Lovato: Stay Strong.[268][269][270][271] She stated: "I wasn't working my program. I wasn't ready to get sober. I was sneaking it on planes, sneaking it in bathrooms, sneaking it throughout the night. Nobody knew."[269] Lovato also stated that her drug and alcohol addictions caused her to not only nearly overdose several times, but later began to impact her ability to perform and promote her third studio album Unbroken, referencing a 2012 performance on the eleventh season of American Idol where she was severely hungover.[268][270][271] After her management team had expressed their intentions to leave her, Lovato agreed to resume treatment and counseling for her addictions, leading to her move to a sober-living facility in Los Angeles with roommates and responsibilities to help her overcome her drug and alcohol problems.[268][271] On June 21, 2018, Lovato released the single "Sober" in which she revealed she had relapsed following six years of sobriety.[272] On July 24, 2018, she was rushed to the Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after emergency services were called to her home due to an opioid overdose.[273][274] She was reported to be stable and recovering later in the day.[273] Lovato was reported to have overdosed on oxycodone laced with fentanyl[275] and was revived with naloxone.[276] She was hospitalized for two weeks and subsequently entered an in-patient rehab facility.[277] In December 2018, Lovato took to Twitter to dismiss rumors regarding her overdose and went on to thank her fans, writing: "If I feel like the world needs to know something, I will tell them MYSELF. All my fans need to know is I'm working hard on myself, I'm happy and clean and I'm SO grateful for their support." She went on to add that some day she would "tell the world what exactly happened, why it happened and what my life is like today.. but until I'm ready to share that with people please stop prying and making up shit that you know nothing about. I still need space and time to heal." Lovato later revealed in a 2020 interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that her worsened struggles with bulimia in 2018 contributed to her eventual drug overdose, as she relapsed three months prior to the incident due to being extremely unhappy.[279] She attributed these struggles to the extreme measures that her then-manager, Phil McIntyre, took to control what she ate.[280] Lovato further explained that, along with the controlling nature of her management team, they did not provide her with the help she needed, commenting: "People checking what my orders at Starbucks were on my bank statements... just little things like that... it led me to being really unhappy and my bulimia got really bad and I asked for help and I didn't receive the help that I needed."[280] Moreover, she recalled that her thought process the night she relapsed following six years of sobriety was as follows: "I'm six years sober and I'm miserable. I'm even more miserable than I was when I was drinking. Why am I sober?"[280] When Lovato confronted her management team about her thoughts, they responded with, "You're being very selfish, this would ruin things for not just you but for us as well," which she says made her feel "completely abandoned" due to triggering her underlying abandonment issues with her birth father, and so she "drank that night". Juice Wrld: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juice_Wrld Death On December 8, 2019, Higgins was aboard a private Gulfstream jet flying from Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles to Midway International Airport in Chicago. Law enforcement officers were waiting for the jet to arrive, having been notified by federal agents, while the flight was en route, that they suspected there were guns and drugs on the plane.[103] Law enforcement officials later revealed they found three handguns and 70 lb (32 kg) of marijuana on the aircraft.[104] They also said several members of Higgins' management team aboard the flight told them that Higgins had taken "several unknown pills",[104] including allegedly swallowing multiple Percocet pills to hide them while police were on board the plane searching the luggage.[105] Higgins then began convulsing and seizing, after which two doses of the emergency medication Narcan were administered as an opioid overdose was suspected.[106] Higgins was transported to the nearby Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was pronounced dead.[107][108] Higgins' funeral was held on December 13, 2019, at the Holy Temple Cathedral Church of God in Christ in Harvey, Illinois.[109] Friends and family were in attendance, including collaborators Ski Mask the Slump God and Young Thug.[110] On January 22, 2020, the Cook County Medical Examiner stated that Higgins died as a result of toxic levels of oxycodone and codeine present in his system.[111]

As the largest women's global recovery network, we have come to know that we are strong and courageous women—and we don't have to recover alone. Dawn Nickel is a thought leader in the women's recovery sphere, with a PhD in health care policy and experience researching and writing about women experiencing substance use disorders, mental health challenges, and intimate partner violence. She and her daughter Taryn founded the SHE RECOVERS Foundation to connect, support and empower women in or seeking recovery from behavioral health issues and related life challenges. Dawn started her own journey of recovery from a substance use disorder and domestic violence in 1987, she is also in recovery from anxiety, grief, trauma, overworking and cancer.  Taryn Strong is a social media influencer in the recovery and wellness space and a leader in the SHE RECOVERS Global Movement. Taryn identifies as being in recovery from trauma, a substance use disorder and self-injurious behavior. A trauma-informed yoga instructor, recovery coach and an aromatherapist, Taryn has developed a unique yoga retreat program and led over 40 yoga for recovery retreats since 2012. She is also the host of the popular SHE RECOVERS Podcast and most recently created and taught the inaugural trauma informed SHE RECOVERS Yoga Teacher Training Program. Get ready for the laughs! In typical Lori fashion, she gets her guests comfortable enough to share their not so best moments. Dara talks motherhood, substance use disorders (weed, alcohol), being ballsy enough to plan her wedding, before her engagement. From troubles getting pregnant (while sober), to the I.U.I. process (not fun), Dara shares her most intimate moments, while keeping us laughing. Living in and working in NYC, relationships, sex sheets, parent's illnesses, mother in law, 12 step work and more... no topic is off limits. Buckle up... it's quite the ride. DARA MEYER BIO: Dara Meyer, a former production events director for the National Football League, MTV and Billboard, has been producing events, ranging from small intimate tapings to large-scale nationally televised concerts, for over 20 years. With responsibilities that include marketing integration, sponsorship, red carpet/step and repeat entry, green room, pre/post party planning and event ticketing, Dara has separated herself as a market leader in the production events industry. After leaving Billboard in 2015 to start her own production firm, Upfront Productions, Dara was asked to work on the first UNITE to Face Addiction Event.  A concert for 25,000 people on the National Mall in Washington D.C., Dara would see events like this many a time in her career, this event however, was different.  With a mission to dispel the stigmas associated towards addiction this concert was a first of its kind.  Addressing the issue was especially meaningful to Dara, herself in recovery since 2010.  It was the first time she was able to marry her two passions, her career and her recovery…   Since then Dara has continued to spend time working on bringing light to the importance of recovery through events and conferences dedicated to the cause. In 2017 Dara produced the first-ever She Recovers in NYC Conference. The inaugural event was held over three days in New York City and was attended by over 500 women from around the world. When not acting as a champion for those in recovery Dara enjoys spending time with her two daughters and husband.
