Things Discussed: Bryce Spring Review: Underwood actually made some JJ throws. Players who stood out on film review: Deyvid Palepale, more impressed with Jalen Hoffman, Avery Gach (pronounced "Gatch") had lots of +2s and –2s, Jordan Young is always around the ball, made the 4th & 1 stuff. OL thoughts by position: RT & RG: Sprague and Efobi were moving people—impressive when they do it Benny, not so much Bobby Kanka. Efobi is the high ceiling/high floor option, could be Hattar or Link. Gach was getting shoved backwards by Chibi Anwunah, who might be good. Think the battle in fall is Efobi the ceiling, Hattar the floor, Link the wild card. LT: ew. When Sam said Michigan should go in the portal for a tackle in spring that wasn't a hopeful statement, and that's how it worked out. Link is a D+, Babalola needs a redshirt, Brady Norton isn't going to happen, period. Ty Haywood, Blake Frazier might compete. Frazier was supposed to a 2-year build and it's been one year, so not expecting that yet. The way Gentry played out last year might have cost them their best option. C: Crippen has the job. Guarnera looked good but had some –2s in there. Strayhorn looked big and athletic but completely lost—at one point he stops mid-pull. WR: McCulley looked good on his one catch, a lot of opportunities to turn around and make a play when they didn't, think Goodwin is a fine 4th or 5th receiver. Semaj has been open, needs QBs to hit him. Haven't seen these guys with good quarterbacking yet so who knows: Bell, Moore, Morgan, Marsh—they could all be good and we wouldn't know yet. QB: We want to get Underwood running more—that 3rd read should be running not throwing a contested ball. RPOs: We're gonna see a lot more of them this year under Chip Lindsey, which means we'll see more man coverage, which then gets back to the receivers and who can win 1-on-1. CB: The flipside is JoJo Edmond was the guy in coverage on a lot of those passes, looks hard to beat, gave up the edge on the big Haynes run. Sug Hill? Sam says without saying that they want to keep him motivated to do things that aren't just his talent. DT and LB are STACKED. Will be very deep and strong this year and are set next year with Palepale and maybe Anwunah. Yaxel: Don't get your hopes up; pretty much every mock draft has him 35-38 and those are guaranteed contract positions so we think there's going to be an NBA team willing to put them on their roster next year. Hockey: Fascinating offseason as Michigan is trying to poach a goalie and most of their new top-six, including the #1 overall pick next year, from Canadian Juniors. Won't know until their playoff ends.
I just read an article in Wine Enthusiast that Riesling is one of the fastest-growing wine varieties on the market. According to the article, people are looking for crisp-bright wines; of course, Riesling fits that bill. Our first wine says it pairs well with chicken, fish, and spicy cuisines. Nero D'Avola is known for its dark fruit-driven flavors, full-bodied, and medium to medium-high tannins. In addition to the dark fruit, may get flavors of licorice, tobacco, and pepper.Meritage is a wine blended with the Bordeaux grape varieties, typically from outside of Bordeaux. The five Bordeaux grapes are Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Malbec, and Petite Verdot. Pronounced like “heritage”. Tonight, we try these three wines from Trader Joe's.2023 Emma Reichart Dry Riesling, purchased for $5.99. Aromas of apricot, honeysuckle, citrus, minerality, and green apple. This wine comes from Germany with 11.5% alcohol.2022 Epicuro Nero D'Avola is from Sicilia DOP. Trader Joe's had this wine for $5.99. Fermented and aged in stainless steel. It has 13.7 g/L of residual sugar making this an off-dry wine. Reverse Wine Snob says aromas of red berry and cherry cough drop fruit, with touches of licorice and spice. Less complex but still a very affordable example of Nero d'Avola. It has 12.5% alcohol.2022 Roustabout Meritage from Paso Robles, California. Purchased for $7.99. Aromas of dark fruit with cola, tobacco, and pepper. Many reviews mention a jammy or over ripe fruit taste. 13.6% alcohol. This wine has 44% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc. Next week we are learning more about blind tasting. We are also going to reminisce about the 70's.

Men, day 32 of our Lenten journey with St. Joseph is here, and it's a powerful one. As Holy Week nears, this episode dives into why St. Joseph, a humble layman, strikes terror into the devil's heart. I'm reading straight from Father Calloway's Consecration to St. Joseph, sharing the gripping story of Blessed Bartolo Longo, a former satanic priest turned Dominican who found redemption through St. Joseph's intercession. From occult darkness to building the Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary in Pompeii, his life proves St. Joseph's title: Terror of Demons. Here's your challenge, men: reflect on St. Joseph's virtues and ask, How can I make the devil fear me? Focus on one area to improve today. Want to protect your family and lead them to heaven? Become an apparition of St. Joseph. His fatherhood is our model; his power, our weapon. As we head into Holy Week, let's step up and make demons flee. Hit play for a reflection that'll strengthen your resolve. Subscribe on Buzzsprout, YouTube, or wherever you listen, and email us at themanlycatholic@gmail.com with your thoughts. Tomorrow, we keep pushing to be saints. Products/References Mentioned: Consecration to St. Joseph by Father Donald Calloway Basilica of Our Lady of the Rosary, Pompeii Blessed Bartolo Longo's book of meditations and prayers to St. JosephPowerful Quotes: “The fatherhood of Saint Joseph terrorizes the devil. The humility of Saint Joseph terrorizes the devil. The charity of Saint Joseph terrorizes the devil.” “Pronounced often and with great confidence the name of Jesus, Mary and Joseph. Their names bring peace, love, health, blessings… and a terror to demons.” “If a man allows himself to be an apparition of St. Joseph, imitating the virtues of St. Joseph, Satan becomes powerless in his attacks against the family.”Key Takeaway:Pray to St. Joseph daily, invoking his name with confidence, to protect your family and grow in the fatherhood that terrifies Satan. Prometheus calls up the Phantasm of Jupiter to recall the curse he once pronounced on Jupiter, which he now regrets. Mercury arrives with the Furies, who, in this drama of the mind, are the forms of human despair and hopelessness. Other Spirits arrive, sent from a poet's imagination, saying don't give up. End of Act 1.

We chatted with Cork musician and artist bÚkl about the challenges of making music and getting it heard in 2025, as well as the joys of being based in the People's Republic Cork. See more about them here bukl.bandcamp.com Who are we talking to, is it a logical journey to what you do now? bÚkl is my artist name. Pronounced like 'buachaill'. I love Irish but we've always been in a bit of a twilight zone with it, and that's ok. I grew up in Myrtleville, Cork, by the sea. Music was always exciting to me ever since my Dad played me 'Live and Let Die' by wings on our turntable when I was around 5. I think it is a logical journey, even if I went about it arseways. I've been playing guitar, singing and writing songs and poetry since my early teens, and I have a degree in Music. In college I learned how to produce music with a DAW and MIDI. But I struggled for a few years mentally after leaving college. I stopped playing music and was afraid to leave my house. So music was shelved for a while, but thankfully I was able to revive myself and get back into it. Working in a record store with a very supportive boss was a huge help. I never stopped listening though. At the same time, mental health issues like anxiety and depression don't mix well with social media, so that part is tricky if I want to try to promote my stuff. bÚkl - Eclipsed (Official Music Video) bÚkl coming through from Cork What music did you love as a kid? It varies quite a bit. I liked the boy and girl bands in the late 90s, Boy zone and Spice Girls, when I was about 5-8, also the charting dance stuff like ATB and Dario G a bit after that. Then my parents got Sky and I discovered Kerrang TV at about 12. I was mesmerized by rock and metal, it was the best thing I had ever heard. I think the first song I loved on Kerrang was 'Links 1234' by Rammstein. The video with the ants vs the termites is still vivid in my head. Then I bought my first CD with my own money from Ray in MusicZone in 2001 after he opened that year in Carrigaline. I wasn't allowed to get Limp Bizkit because of all the language so I got The Offspring, 'Conspiracy of One's instead, which has less language! What are you working on musically now? At the moment, I'm rehearsing with my friend and colleague, Young Adam, to put the bÚkl music together in a live setting. We work with backing tracks and a loop pedal. Two guitars. I haven't played live in nearly 10 years so my confidence isn't great, but we're enjoying our jam sessions, so fingers crossed. I'm also going through my old recording devices and transferring riffs and song ideas to my laptop so I can flesh them out and record them in future. Do you feel it is easier or harder to create music now? I suppose it's easier for people to create music now because of how technology has progressed and that we have so many devices with recording capabilities. But I think if you have the passion you'll always find a way. I remember saving up for a camcorder when I was around 10 so I could make home movies. When I was about 14 I used a karaoke machine that we had to record songs simply at home on cassette. I got a Zoom H4 recorder in college. And in recent years I've used the DAW Reaper which is very reasonably priced compared to other options. And how about to create awareness and a buzz about what you have made? I have mixed feelings on this because there is more indie music out there now than ever and nearly everyone is on social media, where you can reach a lot of people. But it can be difficult to break through the fog. Also I find social media tough mentally, you never know what odd responses you'll receive from people, or if you'll receive any response at all! A lot of the time people are kind but the rare digs can stick in your head. But I think if you work at building a good following on your platform of choice it can be rewarding in the long run. What are the pros and cons of being based in Cork for a musician? There are plenty of music heads here who ap...

On tonight's Medical Matters, we are focusing on rare condition that many might not be familiar with, that is Gaucher disease. This genetic disorder affects how the body breaks down certain fatty substances, leading to various health complications. While it's rare, understanding it is crucial for those affected and their families. We'll dive into what Gaucher disease is, how it's diagnosed, and the importance of raising awareness for rare diseases like this. Joining for me this discussion is Prof Barry Jacobson, Head of Rare Disease Unit, CMJH Hospital, department of Haematology and internal medicine, Wits University and NHLS.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Veteran astrologer and Mystical Messages podcast host Hilary Harley outlines the cosmic waves for July 2024. A decidedly playful and reflective month, July invites us to unwind and unfold into soul time. Retrograding Taskmaster Saturn and Dreamy Neptune pull us into relaxing waters. Will you say yes, or will you resist? This is an excellent time to play hooky, plunk down on a hammock with a good book, check out of the office for a day, or week… Especially around the New Moon on Friday, July 5th. Shift into low and slow gear to get clear about your intentions. Hand write 3-5 intentions or goals you want to manifest over the coming month or season, then plant in the warm earth, maybe under a new flowering shrub to beautify your garden. Around mid-month, Motivating Mars and Radical Uranus join forces, aligning helpfully to Pluto. Look for windfalls, changes in fortune, climate shifts and ripe opportunities. When good fortune knocks on your door: say yes and figure out the details later on. The Full Moon occurs at an attention-getting degree of Capricorn just as Mars enters Gemini on July 21st. Pronounced boundaries will be drawn and messages delivered, especially regarding family, home, food, life-cycle events and ancestral heritage. Choose your battles very carefully now. Think of the long-term consequences rather than any short term gains. We are assisted by Messenger Mercury's shift into practical Virgo on July 26th. The planner of the zodiac, Virgo Mercury notices the details and prepares for all outcomes. This is a good thing, as long as you avoid overthinking… Of special note: Find your tribe! Join me and fellow seekers among the 3 Wise women, for community, conversation and connection for just $10/month. We meet the first Tuesday of each month 6-7:30 PM via zoom. Enroll by visiting: hilaryharley.com/3wisewomen. Also: The Zenathon is coming! Sunday, September 22, 2024 in Sharon Massachusetts. This one-day immersive retreat features myriad speakers, teachers, practitioners and healers along with a vendor marketplace. I will present on the astrology for the last quarter of the year. This urgent call to action is more than just politics; it's about preserving the very fabric of our nation. Finally, we scrutinize the media's portrayal of political narratives, especially surrounding Trump's legal woes and the January 6th insurrection.
