This week, we celebrate the 5th birthday of The Porch Community Church and continue our powerful series, "Everyday Faith," with a sermon by Rev. Justin Crenshaw. We dive into James 4:13-17 to explore the themes of life's fragility, God's sovereignty, and the importance of holding our plans loosely. Rev. Crenshaw challenges us to consider how our lives would change if time and money were no objects and encourages us to live with a holy urgency, recognizing our need for God in every moment. Key Points: Life is fragile and fleeting. God is in control, not us. Make plans but hold them loosely, submitting to God's will. Join us for this insightful sermon that will inspire you to live out your faith every day.
In this episode of The Rich Mind Podcast, host Randy Wilson talks about the changing seasons and how he perceives life as similar to the transition from winter to spring. He discusses his perspective of approaching life, changes, and opportunities and how allowing oneself to step back, pause, and evaluate can lead to new, exciting possibilities. He also shares his journey from the Amazon e-commerce business to creating a successful podcast, highlighting the importance of flexibility, adaptability, and patience. Key Points: * Life has different seasons, much like the year – there are times to push, to rest, and to work through life's routine. * Seeing life as a season helps to give perspective and patience, allowing one to recognize when to pivot and take on new opportunities or experiences. * It's crucial to allow time and mental space to reflect on new opportunities that one might have missed when constantly pushing or grinding. * Treating life like the seasons can help manage stress levels - As Randy historically reduced his stress levels by transitioning from the Amazon e-commerce business to podcasting. * It's okay to slow down and not always needing to push yourself. By doing this, new opportunities may reveal themselves. * Even in perceived failures or difficult times, it's essential to pivot and explore other opportunities - it does not necessarily define the event as a failure. Takeaways Life is like the seasons, with different seasons representing different phases in our lives. Recognize when it's time to push and when it's time to rest and give yourself grace and flexibility. Pivoting can lead to new opportunities and a different path to success. Take a pause, be patient, and open yourself up to new possibilities. On this segment of HyperFast Wealth, host Dan Lesniak speaks with Harry Stout, a former CEO of two of the largest insurance and annuity companies, as well as the creator of FinancialVerse. Listen as Harry provides tips and techniques on how life insurance and annuities can provide tax protection and estate planning to ensure you set yourself up to have money for life. Episode Highlights: Harry resides in Vero Beach, Florida, where he's been able to watch the excitement of SpaceX firsthand. He actually interned at NASA during college. Harry has been in the financial services industry for over 35 years, which has taken him all around the world. Harry's current goal is to give back and improve peoples' knowledge of personal finance matters and how they can take certain actions to reduce stress and anxiety. Life insurance and annuities are products that you put money into that can provide for you on a tax advantage basis. When people look at annuity products, they often forget they're insurance products. Cash value life insurance allows you to accumulate cash on a tax-deferred basis. You can think about life insurance and annuities as providing cash for future delivery, when you need it. They can also be looked at as the safety aspects of your portfolio; the safety actions that you take in your financial planning to provide you with protection. Dan shares his personal experience with insurance products. You need different protections for different times of your life. It's okay that you don't know what you don't know. That's why it's so important to discuss these issues with a professional who can help you figure out what best fits your personal situation. Dan details why he chose cash value life insurance. Harry outlines the three key risks that cash value life insurance helps with: dying too soon, living too long, and it acts as a source of cash should you become ill. There are ways to withdraw the cash out of the policy on a tax-favored basis. Dan and Harry share how they have taken loans against the money they have paid into their cash value insurance policies, and used the money for real estate purposes. Dan examples how cash value life insurance policies can assist in estate planning. Cash value life insurance can also be looked at as an investment, as it carries a rate of return. Harry looks at insurance and annuities as another asset class, one that would fit in the category of fixed safe money asset class. Harry thinks people should plan to live to at least 90, and use that when figuring out how they are going to pay for cost of living until that age. Annuities are often misunderstood, but can help you pay for the day-to-day living expenses and help plan for the long-term. Harry provides two examples of costs associated with later-life expenses. In the United States, people spend more time learning how to operate an automobile than they do gaining financial literacy. Harry gives his answers to the HyperFast Round. 3 Key Points: Life insurance and annuities are products that you put money into that can provide for you on a tax advantage basis. Life insurance and annuities can be looked at as the safety aspects of your portfolio; the safety actions that you take in your financial planning to provide you with protection. You need different protections for different times of your life. Author Cecilia Rodriguez Aragon, once a shy, timid child riddled by fear, shares her breakout memoir, Flying Free: My Victory over Fear to Become the First Latina Pilot on the US Aerobatic Team. Her book, 20 years in the making, features Aragon facing her fears head-on through learning to fly. With fierce determination matching her mathematical superpower, she becomes the first Latina pilot to secure a place on the United States Unlimited Aerobatic Team. But her journey to "flying free" includes much, much more. Aragon not only overcomes her fear but she also conquers racial and gender prejudices as well as her own mental barriers to getting a Ph.D. in engineering from UC Berkeley. KEY POINTS Life is unfair. Women are often taught to abdicate authority and not be in command. Change usually happens gradually, one day at a time, through doing daily, small, challenging tasks. Visualization costs nothing but is a very effective way of honing skills. Saying “no” to things too many times boxes us into a safe, boring life. QUOTES FROM ARAGON “I had been living a very narrow life and letting my fear define me, and then, at one point, I realized that living life too safely was dangerous for my spirit, and I decided to do something that was terrifying to me.” “Flying became my art, my science, and my passion. I used my training in math to optimize split-second performances in the air.” “Everybody has something that can help them achieve anything.” “When you face your fears, and triumph over them, life opens up before you, becomes more exciting, larger, and more vibrant.” “I’ve learned this about having a dream: It doesn’t matter if you tell anybody or not. What matters is that you make some progress in that direction every day.” BUY Flying Free: My Victory Over Fear to Become the First Latina Pilot on the US Aerobatic Team RECOMMENDATIONS Listen to Nonfiction4life Episode 86: Fly Girls by Keith O’Brien Listen to Nonfiction4life Episode 137: Limitless Mind by Dr. Jo Boaler Connect with us on social media! In the sixth episode of the Building Without a Blueprint, host Princeton Parker shares his deep desire to contribute to humanity in a way that is bigger than himself. He shares his sermon where he upacks a season of change and pain. Princeton beautifully parallels his stories with those of Jesus. 1:37—Princeton Parker thanks the presence of the Lord and starts us off with a prayer. 2:20—Today, Princeton focuses on Exodus the 13th chapter and Romans 5th chapter. 4:23—He honors the woman and Dr. Thomas and gives thanks to the different departments in the church. 6:28—We begin with focus on the book of Exodus chapter 13, 17 verse. 7:51—The book of Romans chapter 5 talks about patience, experience, and hope. Hope will not embarrass you. 8:55—Don´t worry. I´m just growing--the topic for today. This is why people leave our lives because they can´t handle our growth. 10:47—We get so sccustomed to talking to our neighbor that we don´´ receive the right word for us. Don´t worry. I´m just growing. 11:42—The person who is most afraid of your developmnent is you. 12:10—Don´t worry. Im just growing. These words aren´t about having ´beef¨ with other people. These words are for ourselves. 13:40—When we rest, it is an act of faith. We believe we don´t hold up our life but God does. 15:08—Princeton delves into gym culture and uses it to lead into how small events can cause long-term pain. 18:40—One comment or short act can have a long-term impact on others . 19:02—The danger of pain is that it can make you lose all sense of perspective. 19:48—In pain, we lose track ofthe side-effect. 19:55—Don´t hold judgement of people because it is all driven by pain. 21:20—Pain is disorienting and can drive depression. 24:40—In this seson while you grow. you will get one that says stop because of the discomfort, but the other message will come from your mind because it will say keep going becasue of the reward. Don´t worry. Im just growing. 25:20—See pain not as just pain but opportunity. 26:01—Changing the way you see your circumstance doesn´t make it hurt less. Changing the way you see your circumstance will make you hurt with purpose. 27:26—People don´t leave because of the pain. They leave because they lose perspective. It isn´t worth it and the purpose is lost. 28:30— When you lose your perspective and you run towards something else, you are just running towards another kind of pain. 29:19—Your pain is here to grow you not kill you. 30:22—The reason why God is putting me through this pain is to figure out my ¨heart¨ issues, passion issues. 31:11—Holiness is a heart issue. 31:47—Don´t try to address someones sin before you see their pain. 32:00—Jesus forgives sin. If I forgive you but don´t heal you, it is very likely you will go back to what injured you in the first place. 3 Key Points: Life is filled with seasons of growth and change, and the person most afraid of our growth is ourselves. Throughout the season of growth, there is also pain, growing pains. Pain, if we let it, can make us lose our perspective and purpose. We cannot address someone´s sin until we have also seen their pain.
