The newest class of Minnesota Fightin' Vikings rookies are in the building this weekend for rookie mini-camp. Draft picks, undrafted free agents, and tryout players alike will try to climb the mountain of making the Vikings 53-man roster (remember, John Randle was a tryout/UDFA), in what could be the most competitive offseason in team history. The Minnesota Vikings' draft plans are a big talking point for fans right now as the 2016 version is less than a month away. GM Rick Spielman will have a lot of decisions to make behind-the-scenes, some will be crazy stories and scenarios that will never see the light of day. To shine a light on a few hypotheticals is our resident NFL Draft BOSS Luke Inman (@Luke_Spinman)! The scenarios are....... Scenario 1: Myles Jack is the #1 player on your board. He's still available at #5 when David Caldwell of the Jacksonville Jaguars calls you up and says he wants the #23 overall pick plus your 2nd, 3rd and 5th 2016 picks and your 1st rounder in 2017. What say you? Scenario 2: Laquon Treadwell, Josh Doctson, Corey Coleman, Andrew Billings, Jack Conklin, Taylor Decker are all off the board at 23 (as well as who you'd expect to be gone). You cannot trade back. Who do you take? Scenario 3: Doctson is off the board, but Treadwell is available at 23. Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner has said unequivocally he does not want to work with Treadwell and prefers an offensive lineman. What do you do? Scenario 4: Washington is on the clock at 21. Doctson is available and your sources say the Texans will grab him at 22 if available. Washington offers to swap picks if you include your 2nd, 5th, and Adrian Peterson. What do you do? The perennial playoff contenders. They resign Drew Brees to a two-year deal, re-signed Andrea’s Pete, resign David on Amana D lineman. They also signed no expense. And they gave Janoris Jenkins a two-year extension. Furthermore they activated the fifth your options on Ryan ram shack and Marshon Lattimore. The team is pretty much done in free agency but we’ll see what they can do in the draft. Then we turn her eyes to the Green Bay Packers and Aaron Rodgers. Another team that’s done almost nothing in free agency but a few key moves. They lost the major players including Brian Bulaga and Blake Martinez. But they might’ve got an upgrade at the linebacker position of Christian Kirksey. They also get Ricky Wagner who helps replace the loss of Brian Bulaga. But they saw some questions going into the draft. There’s still biggest needs are stopping the run, pass protecting for Aaron Rodgers and getting some pass catching weapons you’re the greatest QB of all time. They did sign Devvon Funchess, which shouldn’t preclude them from drafting a wide receiver for signing another in free agency. What might stop them though is the limited Space left to sign said receiver in free agency. The good news is Green Bay has about 10 picks in the draft, which they can definitely use try and stock up on receiver D tackle an offense of tackle.
