Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesSinners mastermind Ryan Coogler confirmed that Black Panther 3 is the next film he's working on during Contenders Film: Los Angeles last week, an event put on by Deadline. This is exciting news for us MCU fans, as work on the third Black Panther film has been mostly quiet other than Denzel Washington's confirmed slip up that he is in the movie.A new Star Trek movie is being created under the writing and direction of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the duo behind Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Game Night as well as the recently wrapped Apple film Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. With the last feature film being Star Trek Beyond in 2016, there's been little movement on both the Chris Pine-led series and new takes on the universe, but this new film will move forward unconnected to anything done previously.Glen Powell in The Running Man was a favored first place winner at the box office this weekend, but was ousted by the sleight of hand of Now You See Me: Now You Don't, the third movie in that franchise. Now You See Me racked up a global $75 million opening, while The Running Man limped across the finish line at $28 million. This marks Powell's first big box office miss, when compared to openings for Twisters, Top Gun: Maverick, and Anybody But You, but the action film did have to compete against Predator: Badlands, which is holding strong at the box office still.Nintendo and Illumination have released the first trailer for Super Mario Galaxy, the follow up to 2023's hit The Super Mario Brothers Movie. The film will hit theaters on April 3rd, 2026. The trailer reveals some new characters and cast members including Bowser Jr. who will be voiced by Benny Safdie and Rosalina who will be voiced by Brie Larson.Amazon Prime has released a new, extended trailer for “Fallout” Season 2. The season begins streaming on December 17.20th Century Studios has released a very short teaser trailer for The Devil Wears Prada 2, the follow up to the 2006 fashion comedy that starred Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway, who are reprising their roles for the sequel. The film opens on May 1, 2026.Apple TV has set Friday, February 27 for the Season 2 premiere of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters and has dropped a first trailer. The 10-episode second season will premiere globally on Feb. 27 with the first episode, followed by one episode every Friday until May 1.Disney has released the first trailer for the live action adaptation of Moana which hits theaters on July 10, 2026.According to Deadline, Sadie Sink will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars following her appearance in Spider-Man Brand New Day.Hideo Kojima‘s groundbreaking video game franchise Death Stranding is set to expand with an all-new animated series that's heading to Disney+. The show, which is titled Death Stranding Isolations is expected to debut sometime in 2027.Peacock has decided not to renew Poker Face for a third season. Natasha Lyonne exits as star, but series creator Rian Johnson has begun an effort to shop the show to other broadcasters for a two-season commitment and has cast Peter Dinklage to take over the role of Charlie Cale from Natasha Lyonne.Sony Pictures has picked up the rights to the Chinese doll brand Labubu with the intent to launch a franchise based on the dolls in the near future.Nintendo's live action Legend of Zelda movie has begun production and Nintendo social media accounts posted first look images earlier this week of Link and Zelda, the film's main characters. The film is currently set for release in May of 2027.Peacock has renewed Twisted Metal for a third season, with David Reed taking over as showrunner and executive producer following Michael Jonathan Smith's exit. Reed has previously been a producer on series like Supernatural and The Boys.

Daredevil is not the only Netflix series confirmed now as MCU canon - the entire Defenders saga can be seen within the MCU Timeline on Disney+. This is a big deal for fans of the Netflix shows who have called for them to be canonized for years. The Defenders shows fit into the timeline starting with Daredevil after I Am Groot and ending with The Punisher before Doctor Strange. There's also a rumor Deborah Ann Wolf and Elden Hansen are set to return as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again.  Trekkies will soon see their favorite franchise back on the big screen with director Toby Haynes on the bridge in the captain's chair. Haynes recently directed several episodes of the Star Wars hit show Andor. With Seth Grahame-Smith writing and JJ Abrams' Bad Robot producing, it has been 8 years since the last Star Trek movie - though this one is to take place decades before the 2009 Star Trek movie plot. Paramount has had recent Star Trek success in the television world, streaming Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks, Picard, and Discovery. Though this prequel may not show the Chris Pine-led cast we are used to seeing, there are still plans to have a final movie with that crew in the future.  We keep talking about Tom Cruise and now for an even bigger announcement…a Top Gun 3 movie is officially in development to bring back that loving feeling. Top Gun: Maverick writer Ethan Kruger is already writing for the new installment and sources report director Joe Kosinski will also be back to pilot the film. This news comes to us shortly after the partnership announced with Cruise and Warner Bros. Discovery. Top Gun: Maverick raked in an astounding $1.5 billion in 2022 and Cruise looks like he's willing to continue the legacy with a third film. Rumors are flying that DC Studios will begin their search for a Supergirl actress soon.  In the mix for frontrunners we have Milly Aycock of house of the dragon, Emilia Jones from Coda and Locke and Key, and Meg Donnelly of the Zombies franchise and DC Animation where she plays supergirl. James Gunn and Peter Safran announced the Supergirl, Woman of Tomorrow movie in 2022 based on the comics by Tom King.  Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the director and writer of the 2002 zombie horror film 28 Days Later, are reuniting for 28 Years Later, a sequel to the original. The pair are hoping to launch a trilogy of films set in the universe. Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss opened up for the first time about their canceled Star Wars movie in the cover story for last week's Hollywood Reporter, stating that the concept for their film dealt with the rise of the first Jedi and how the Jedi Order came to be. The Last of Us Season 2 has cast Beef star Young Mazino as Jesse. The series is expected to start production soon. Isabela Merced has also been cast as Dina. Barbie and Shang-Chi star Simu Liu will host the 2024 People's Choice Awards which will air live on NBC, E!, and Peacock on February 18. Director David Gordon Green, who was initially set to direct a sequel to last year's Exorcist: Believer titled Exorcist: Deceiver, has exited the project. Universal originally planned for the film to hit theaters on April 18, 2025, but the timetable is now unclear as the studio searches for a new director. Noah Hawley, the showrunner of the upcoming FX series "Alien," revealed in an interview that the series is set on Earth approximately 70 years in the future, preceding the events of the original film series. Despite discussions with Ridley Scott, Hawley explained that he won't incorporate the backstory from "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant" into his series, expressing a preference for the original films' retro-futuristic technology over the more advanced tech featured in the prequels.

The venerable Star Trek universe is really the only major pop culture property that can be claimed as certifiably leftist. But how do the newest batch of shows hold up? In a special crossover episode, Lyta Gold of Art for the End Times teams up with a lively panel of fellow podcasters and Trekkies—David Banks and Britney Gil (Iron Weeds), Leslie Lee III (Struggle Session), and Aaron Thorpe (Trillbilly Workers Party, Struggle Session, and Everybody Loves Communism)—to discuss the most recent Star Trek show to hit the airwaves, Strange New Worlds. Drawing on decades of collective Trekkie experience, they debate Paramount's increasingly cynical approach to making Trek, and how the whole series succeeds (or fails) in imagining fully automated luxury space communism while still being created by capitalists.

Drawing on decades of collective Trekkie experience, they debate Paramount's increasingly cynical approach to making Trek, and how the whole series succeeds (or fails) in imagining fully automated luxury space communism while still being created by capitalists.Post-Production: Dwayne GladdenHelp us continue producing radically independent news and in-depth analysis by following us and becoming a monthly sustainer: Donate: https://therealnews.com/donate-podSign up for our newsletter: https://therealnews.com/newsletter-podLike us on Facebook: https://facebook.com/therealnewsFollow us on Twitter: https://twitter.com/therealnews

In July of 2021, the YouTube channel "The Popcast” posted a video entitled "This is how STRANGE NEW WORLDS will bring OLD TREK and NEW TREK Together!" The video discussed the divide between fans of Old Trek, Star Trek episodes and movies produced between 1966 and 2005, and fans of New Trek that began with J.J. Abrams 2009 Star Trek film. The video told us of a recent survey that took place across YouTube, Reddit and Twitter. 2000 Trek fans were asked how they identified with 3 statements.  Here they are: New Star Trek is good, I wish people would just accept the changes. I'm watching because it's Star Trek, but I really hope it gets better. It's a dumpster fire! I hate it and I'll never watch new Star Trek. Here are the results: -28% said New Trek is good, and people should accept the changes. -32% said they were watching because it's Trek, but they hoped it would get better. -40% said it's a dumpster fire and they won't watch. That 40% number by itself is alarming. But it's really staggering to see that 72% don't think it's good or won't watch it at all! Co-hosts Bob Turner and Kelly Casto have some opinions about why this might be happening...And of course, it's all unofficial.
