Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesSinners mastermind Ryan Coogler confirmed that Black Panther 3 is the next film he's working on during Contenders Film: Los Angeles last week, an event put on by Deadline. This is exciting news for us MCU fans, as work on the third Black Panther film has been mostly quiet other than Denzel Washington's confirmed slip up that he is in the movie.A new Star Trek movie is being created under the writing and direction of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein, the duo behind Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves and Game Night as well as the recently wrapped Apple film Mayday, starring Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh. With the last feature film being Star Trek Beyond in 2016, there's been little movement on both the Chris Pine-led series and new takes on the universe, but this new film will move forward unconnected to anything done previously.Glen Powell in The Running Man was a favored first place winner at the box office this weekend, but was ousted by the sleight of hand of Now You See Me: Now You Don't, the third movie in that franchise. This marks Powell's first big box office miss, when compared to openings for Twisters, Top Gun: Maverick, and Anybody But You, but the action film did have to compete against Predator: Badlands, which is holding strong at the box office still.Nintendo and Illumination have released the first trailer for Super Mario Galaxy, the follow up to 2023's hit The Super Mario Brothers Movie. Trek Untold: The Star Trek Podcast That Goes Beyond The Stars!
Trek Untold has the scoop on some hot new Star Trek merchandise coming in 2025 and beyond, courtesy of our chat with Ben Robinson. It's been four years since Mr. Robinson joined this podcast to promote his work with Eaglemoss, a company that shut its doors in 2022. Now, Ben has moved on to become Creative Consultant on Fanhome for Star Trek product and Creative Director with Master Replicas for everything Sci-Fi, as well as writing Trek books, including helping Nana Visitor with her recent "Open A Channel" book.Ben tells us what really happened with Eaglemoss Hero Collector, how Master Replicas became involved in Trek beginning with their purchase of the warehouse goods, and how that led Ben to work with them, as well as Fanhome. From there, it's a dive into what's new and on the way, including why Fanhome is focusing their starships on the new Trek shows instead of the legacy ones, answering the age-old question of why their ships aren't always in scale with each other, thoughts on the potential of larger piece-by-piece subscription builds with new starships, all of the details about Master Replicas' new action figure line (created in the style of the classic Playmates Star Trek figures from the 90s), plus much more across this episode that will bring out the collector in you (and make you wish you had more gold-pressed latinum in your vault).Visit Fanhome to support their Trek ships and other merch at their official website: https://www.fanhome.com/.Visit Master Replicas to learn how to order their new Star Trek figures at their official website: https://www.masterreplicas.com/en-usPlease subscribe to our brand new YouTube channel: www.youtube.com/@trekuntold .There, you will see all the old episodes of this show, as well as new episodes and all of our other content, including shorts and some other fun things planned for the future.Visit my Amazon shop to check out tons of Trek products andother things I enjoy - https://www.amazon.com/shop/thefightnerd View the Teespring store for Trek Untold gear & apparel- https://my-store-9204078.creator-spring.com Support Trek Untold by becoming a Patreon at Patreon.com/TrekUntold.Don't forget to subscribe to the podcast and leave a rating if you like us!Follow Trek Untold on Social MediaInstagram: http://www.instagram.com/trekuntoldTwitter: https://www.twitter.com/trekuntoldFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/trekuntoldFollow Nerd News Today on Social MediaTwitter:
Happy Tuesday everyone! Today's guest is the amazing Rob Kazinsky. Rob and I have never worked together, but we've been in the same circles for years and it was such a pleasure to sit down and talk with him! You know Rob from his time as Sean Slater on EastEnders, and from playing Chuck Hansen in Pacific Rim and Orgrim in Warcraft. And now, he is fulfilling my dream and joining the Stark Trek universe. You can currently see him as Zeph in Section 31! We talk about the new movie and the controversy it's stirring up among the Star Trek faithful. We also just talk about life, including Rob's autism diagnosis and how he has weathered some challenging moments over the course of his career. I was surprised at how deep we got in such a short time, and I think you'll enjoy this conversation! Be sure to stick around for the Hindsight, where producer Jeph and I discuss the episode and open up the Mail Sack for some fan emails. If you want to join me at the Indiana Comic Convention, I'll be there March 14-16! Sawandi Wilson was the final new character introduced in "Star Trek: Discovery," arriving in the last act of the series finale "Life, Itself." Playing Michael Burnham's son, Sawandi was the first to don a completely new Starfleet uniform, and piloted his Admiral mom to the NCC-1031 for her final mission. We chat with Sawandi about his time on the set of Disco, working with Soneqhua Martin-Green and David Ajala, and what he knew about this very secretive conclusion to the Herald of New Star Trek shows. Trek Untold sat down with Brian Volk-Weiss during NYCC 2024 to discuss the newly announced Star Trek figures from his company, Nacelle Toys. Brian, a lifelong Trek fan and collector, is choosing an unusual route to make his highly articulated collectibles, with the intent to please the hardcore fans more than putting these out in big box stores where they would fester and rot like previous attempts by other companies.Brian breaks down who will be part of his first wave and details what accessories they include (revealing some secrets he hasn't discussed elsewhere), his strategy and plans for longevity, the story behind how he got the license, and what he will do differently from others, and much more in this deep dive into a toy line that has the potential to make Trek fans extremely happy. Daredevil is not the only Netflix series confirmed now as MCU canon - the entire Defenders saga can be seen within the MCU Timeline on Disney+. This is a big deal for fans of the Netflix shows who have called for them to be canonized for years. The Defenders shows fit into the timeline starting with Daredevil after I Am Groot and ending with The Punisher before Doctor Strange. There's also a rumor Deborah Ann Wolf and Elden Hansen are set to return as Karen Page and Foggy Nelson in Daredevil: Born Again. Trekkies will soon see their favorite franchise back on the big screen with director Toby Haynes on the bridge in the captain's chair. Haynes recently directed several episodes of the Star Wars hit show Andor. With Seth Grahame-Smith writing and JJ Abrams' Bad Robot producing, it has been 8 years since the last Star Trek movie - though this one is to take place decades before the 2009 Star Trek movie plot. Paramount has had recent Star Trek success in the television world, streaming Strange New Worlds, Lower Decks, Picard, and Discovery. Though this prequel may not show the Chris Pine-led cast we are used to seeing, there are still plans to have a final movie with that crew in the future. We keep talking about Tom Cruise and now for an even bigger announcement…a Top Gun 3 movie is officially in development to bring back that loving feeling. Top Gun: Maverick writer Ethan Kruger is already writing for the new installment and sources report director Joe Kosinski will also be back to pilot the film. This news comes to us shortly after the partnership announced with Cruise and Warner Bros. Discovery. Top Gun: Maverick raked in an astounding $1.5 billion in 2022 and Cruise looks like he's willing to continue the legacy with a third film. Rumors are flying that DC Studios will begin their search for a Supergirl actress soon. In the mix for frontrunners we have Milly Aycock of house of the dragon, Emilia Jones from Coda and Locke and Key, and Meg Donnelly of the Zombies franchise and DC Animation where she plays supergirl. James Gunn and Peter Safran announced the Supergirl, Woman of Tomorrow movie in 2022 based on the comics by Tom King. Danny Boyle and Alex Garland, the director and writer of the 2002 zombie horror film 28 Days Later, are reuniting for 28 Years Later, a sequel to the original. The pair are hoping to launch a trilogy of films set in the universe. Game of Thrones creators David Benioff and Dan Weiss opened up for the first time about their canceled Star Wars movie in the cover story for last week's Hollywood Reporter, stating that the concept for their film dealt with the rise of the first Jedi and how the Jedi Order came to be. The Last of Us Season 2 has cast Beef star Young Mazino as Jesse. The series is expected to start production soon. Isabela Merced has also been cast as Dina. Barbie and Shang-Chi star Simu Liu will host the 2024 People's Choice Awards which will air live on NBC, E!, and Peacock on February 18. Director David Gordon Green, who was initially set to direct a sequel to last year's Exorcist: Believer titled Exorcist: Deceiver, has exited the project. Universal originally planned for the film to hit theaters on April 18, 2025, but the timetable is now unclear as the studio searches for a new director. Noah Hawley, the showrunner of the upcoming FX series "Alien," revealed in an interview that the series is set on Earth approximately 70 years in the future, preceding the events of the original film series. Despite discussions with Ridley Scott, Hawley explained that he won't incorporate the backstory from "Prometheus" and "Alien: Covenant" into his series, expressing a preference for the original films' retro-futuristic technology over the more advanced tech featured in the prequels.

Season 2 of the critically acclaimed Star Trek: Strange New Worlds premiered June 15 (streaming on Paramount+). So today, Short Wave Scientist in Residence Regina G. Barber chats with two Trekkie physicists about the science powering the show and why they love the franchise. Astrophysicist Erin Macdonald is the science consultant for Star Trek, and Chanda Prescod-Weinstein is a theoretical physicist and author of the book The Disordered Cosmos. This episode, the trio discusses not only the feasibility of warp drive, global cooperation and representation and how the transporters that beam crew members from the surface of a planet to the ship might be breaking fundamental laws of physics.Questions about the "scientific" underpinnings of other pop culture?
