How could Ben Solo be defended if he were prosecuted for the many crimes of Kylo Ren? Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Carol Najera, Sylvia La Rosa, and Joshua Gilliland, explore the issues of whether the Dark Side destroyed Ben Solo's ability to distinguish between right and wrong or made him act under a delusional compulsion. Would a jury convict Ben Solo for the murder of Lor San Tekka and ordering a war crime on Jakku? What expert testimony would be necessary to show Ben Solo did not understand the wrongfulness of his actions? Tune in to find out from our discussion. Poe Dameron, under orders to find Lor San Tekka before the First Order, has to go talk to Grakkus the Hutt in prison. Because that's where Tekka went. Grakkus has a history of collecting Jedi artifacts, which might have had something to do with it. But he'll only talk about Tekka if Poe and Black Squadron break out of prison. First. Before Agent Terex and the First Order do. Lots of shifting alliances that Poe has to manage, not to mention the potential traitor in their midst. In other words, more of the kind of experience General Leia Organa needs him to get, if he's ever going to step into a bigger leadership role in the Resistance. Punch it! ***I'm listener supported! Kanata's Castle continues their "Pathway to The Last Jedi" with Padmé Amidala: 'The Paths we Choose Pave our Destiny." In this episode, Becca, and Devon pick up where they left off, the Skywalker family. Only this time, it's all about origins. A bloodline of courage, selflessness, and hope. Padmé Amidala. Sometimes, love isn't enough. Anakin and Padmé were star-crossed lovers. Doomed from the start. And yet, their love created something that the galaxy needed. It's ironic. The galaxy that made their love impossible to be out in the open needed their love more than they knew. Hope. The Force chose Anakin, but it also chose Padmé. The Force knows courage, selflessness and it knows hope. And Padmé's most endearing act was giving her life for her children's safety. Padmé Amidala Skywalker. A symbol of Hope. A Force of Destiny that will lead us on the 'Pathway to the Last Jedi.' The Star Wars fandom received a gift this month in the form of the Rogue One: A Star Wars Story trailer, and we're here with the second episode of Blaster Canon to talk Rogue One and some of the other Star Wars news that came out in the last two weeks.Paul Hermann leads an episode that asks the big questions about Rogue One: Does Gareth Edwards' film "look like Star Wars"? Felicity Jones as Jyn Erso brings a smuggler attitude to the Rebellion - is she more Luke Skywalker or Jack Sparrow? She's one of the few Star Wars heroes of the new era who has a last name - where does she fit in the saga of the Skywalkers? Who are the mysterious Imperial characters? We break down each character in the surprisingly revealing teaser trailer. This week, we also cover the first issue of the Poe Dameron comic book and its place in the new canon: Phil Noto and Charles Soule both bring a lot of experience to the story of Poe's quest to find Lor San Tekka, but did the story start off with a bang or more of a "huh?" Where do the Egg Worshippers fit into the Star Wars canon? We also take a look at the latest excerpt from next book in the Aftermath series, Life Debt, which sends Norra and Snap Wexley on a collision course with Han Solo and promises an adventure on Kashyyyk.Lastly, we take a deep dive into the Star Wars Rebels finale, "Twilight of the Apprentice." Darth Maul and Darth Vader take on the Rebels in an episode set at a Sith temple on Korriban. The episode also develops the relationship between Ezra and Kanan, but perhaps the most talked-about event was conflict between Vader and his former apprentice Ahsoka Tano. We also discussed the tone of the episode and the audience Rebels was intended for - is the show too childish, or does it match the "family-friendly" tone that Star Wars material often aims for? See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.

As always, be sure to check out our website for the show guide, which is so much better than these notes. STAR WARSY STUFF [1:45] Anna and I watched Padme’s deleted scenes from RotS. We also watched “Within and Minute,” which is a great documentary that details all the people who worked on RotS and what they did. Anna really loved it We’re continuing our trek through the Clone Wars. We’ve recently watched the D-Squad arc and the Maul/Deathwatch arc. And, of course, we saw Rebels: Shroud of Darkness. LISTENER FEEDBACK [16:00] We got a great voicemail from Asher and an email from Chris from Star Wars Kidscast. NEWS [20:50] J.J. says there’s no reason a LGBT character wouldn’t appear in an upcoming Star Wars movie. We applaud him and discuss why we talk about things like this on the podcast and why we speak up about inclusion, diversity and equality. We know now that Chewie is going to be in the Han Solo standalone. Maybe not a big surprise, but good to know. And this news brings up the fact that Lumpy, Chewbacca’s son, is on the brink of canon. Remember, according to The Princess, The Scoundrel and The Farmboy, Chewbacca has a wife Speaking of Chewie, there’s a Han Solo comic coming up. J.J. Abrams addresses the perceived snub that Leia gives Chewie in The Force Awakens. We don’t talk about the Lego Star Wars: The Freemakers. At least not yet. Finally, we discuss the behind the scenes tidbits coming out of South By Southwest. CANON NEWS [36:35] Our canon news this week is all about Lor San Tekka and the Church of the Force. JOKE [41:20] The joke today is a Liam special: What do you call Boba Fett if he really thinks babies are cute and he really thinks feet are useful? REVIEW [43:40] Liam gives us his review of Star Wars: Original Trilogy Graphic Novel put out by Disney Lucasfilm Press. Q&A COUNCIL [48:10] Two questions this week from Chris from Star Wars Kidscast: What is your favorite kind of Star Wars alien? Who is your favorite kid in a Star Wars movie/show? STUMP THE LUMP! [53:30] The kids ask me to list the military ranks in the Resistance. And I get a bonus point if I list them in order. SHOUTOUTS [56:15] I pay my respects to the ForceCast. Then the kids make it awkward.
