In this first (and possibly LAST) Random Picks episode, the crew lose their tiny minds, as evidenced by the fact that they left the selection of the movie AND the cocktail to chance! The movie, drawn from Dave's WW1 helmet, was 1983's "The Final Terror", which was first recommended by screenwriter C. Robert Cargill and gifted to us by our dear friend Tom, turned out to be a lot of fun. Did we mention this is a LONG episode? When it came to drinks, the cocktail ingredients were randomly rolled for using various-sided dice and 2 of the three were not bad. In fact, #2 was considered above average. #3 is perhaps best avoided . . . Random CocktailsDrink 1:1oz Brandy1oz Cointreau2oz Apple CiderPour contents into low ball glass filled 3/4 with ice. Stir. The Flight Attendant is back, well it's been back, I recorded this when it released. It was another great season with more twists and turns. If you haven't watched this show, I highly recommend it. It is available to stream on HBO/HBO Max. Sadly there isn't a drinking game available yet, but feel free to send suggestions in. I should really come up with rules for the show sometime. For those of you who don't know, the show's synopsis is about a reckless flight attendant with an alcoholism problem wakes up in the wrong hotel, in the wrong bed, with a dead man - and no idea what happened. Unable to piece the night together, she begins to wonder if she could be the killer. For season 2...Cassie is living her best life in Los Angeles, has a supportive new boyfriend, and moonlights as a CIA asset. When her latest assignment makes her an eyewitness to a murder, Cassie becomes entangled in another international mystery. Aviation: Ingredients 2 oz of Gin 1/2 oz Maraschino Liqueur 1/4 oz Creme de Violette 3/4 oz Lemon Juice, freshly squeezed Garnish: Brandied Cherry Directions Add the gin, maraschino liqueur, creme de violet and lemon juice to a shaker with ice and shake until well-chilled. You will need: Irish Whiskey, Green Chartreuse, Maraschino Liqueur, and lime juice. Welcome to Cocktology Tonight, quite possibly the world’s first follow-along-at-home cocktail making podcast! Tonight we have an absolute princess, the little sister of the queen of my cocktail heart! The Dublin Minstrel leaves it all on the stage, every night. Created by the great Simon Difford, this drink is nice little twist on the Last Word, named for it’s first proponent, Frank Fogarty the Dublin Minstrel. I cannot recommend a setting in which to serve this beauty, because I can’t think of any setting not to! Please use alcohol responsibly, and follow your local drinking age laws.
Long week calls for a quick B-Sides! Joey has talked about Maraschino Cherries a lot and wanted to elaborate! Also, it wouldn’t be a B-Sides without some Alien talk and after thoughts!
Yup, its just the guys again! Chatting about the coronavirus, hand-sanitizer, bidets, shitty managers, growling at each other and more. Joey makes a great cocktail and we debut our newest member at the end of the show!
Hey guys, We are doing today a Don the Beachcomber classic tiki cocktail called Shark's Tooth. It was on his original menus and competed against the famous "Zombie" drink in ever location Don had but never got the same recognition as the Zombie. We have a new newsletter out for February with new recipes from past shows, new tiki bar for Mark's Adventures to discuss, new tiki dates for your calendar and a Tiki cocktail book that every home bar should have in Tiki Books review. Plus more!!!! So the Shark's teeth in the Polynesian region is very spiritual and practical as tools are made with them. Check out other reasons why the drink got its name. It will keep you all wrapped up!! Recipe: 1 oz Barbados Rum, 1 oz Jamaican rum (now if you purchase Plantation rum you can use this single rum for both as it was produced by both counties), 0.5 oz lime juice, 0.5 pineapple juice, 0.5 simple syrup, 1 tsp of Maraschino Cherry syrup (sweet version) OR 1 tsp of Maraschino Liqueur (strong like Mark likes it), 3 oz crushed ice (yes, I finally got to use my new ice crusher for this...noisy but worth it). You can either blend this or shaken and double strained into a double old-fashioned rocks glass with fresh crushed ice. Garnish with Cherry and a pineapple leaves (yes, I had no cherries when I took the website shot so I used a piece of pineapple...be creative on your garnish). You will find this in two of Jeff "Beachbum" Berry's books which are "Sippin Safari" and "Remixed" which you can find on our cool link page: https://tikicentralcanada.ca/cool-links/ So some cool facts about sharks such as surfers wear shark's teeth for good luck and believe it prevents shark attacks but there is not scientific facts to back this up. It's more of superstition!!! Also, 1950s a man was attacked in Hawaii by 3 tiger sharks only to have his body parts found inside a shark 3 days later. On "Did you know?" segment: we talk about cool facts about the movie "Jaws" such as the mechanic shark was called "Bruce" or "Great White Turd" by the crew...listen to find out why!!! Robert Shaw who played Quint was quite the character and the production crew got more than they bargained for by him...found out why!!!! Some cool links to YouTube videos of facts about Jaws: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2sOuBa_p3MM and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-kDfBjy1oU The YouTube Link on how to make this drink: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U8Alo-H-Np4

Summary: The lads discuss certain products they will never skimp on and for very good reasons. In the Studio: Dan Ken Critter Cocktail du Jour: The Last Word - 3/4 oz. Gin - 3/4 oz. Green Chartreuse - 3/4 oz. Maraschino Liqueur - 3/4 oz. Lime Juice or Lemon Juice Or just equal parts. That's easier to say. Add all ingredients to a mixer with ice and shake the shit out of it. Strain into a martini glass to be classy as fuck. Quote du Jour: Billy Madison - [to Miss Lippy] Whoa whoa whoa, Miss Lippy. The part of the story I don't like is that the little boy gave up looking for Happy after an hour. He didn't put posters up or anything, he just sat on the porch like a goon and waited. That little boy's gotta think 'You got a pet. You got a responsibility.' If your dog gets lost you don't look for an hour then call it quits. You get your ass out there and you find that fucking dog.
