We jump right into our highlights of #Olympics2024, everything from the cycling, to the triple jump, to ping pong. If you missed any of the big moments from Paris, tune in here to get caught up. On to the movie, Mad Cow: A mad scientist vows to continue his quest to create the perfect super-soldier by Frankensteining a bunch of body parts from powerful physical specimens. What could go wrong? Well, if the only head he has access to is that of a Holstein Friesian, things can go sideway quickly...and boy do they ever. Luckily a crack squad of very special police and the T.W.A.T are around the protect the citizenry. Night of the Wererooster final grade: Steve This one would be an easy top-shelfer, were it not for the last 10 minutes. Bad acting, but funny writing that draws from other classic comedies was great. Unfortunately, gotta dock them for the extended ending. 3.69/5.0 Brandon There were plenty of laughs in this one, but at some point, it seemed like they were trying to hard. The good jokes could have hit better with more setup. Trying to do a Monty Python/National Lampoon/Every other funny move ever got a little busy. 3.56/5 Cocktail of the Week: Gin Daisy 1 1/2 oz Dry Gin, but it was good with "Gin" too 1/2 oz Fancy Grenadine 1/4 oz Benedictine Dom 3/4 oz Fresh-Squeezed Lemon Juice Topo Chico or other sparkling water Add all ingredients to a shaking tin. Shake over ice to combine, then strain over ice in a rocks glass. Top with Topo Chico. Garnish with lemon wheel. Cocktail Grade: Another Anders Erickson homerun. Delicious, refreshing. Goes down faster than you'd think. 5/5 Fancy Grenadine Recipe 450 g granulated sugar 300 g 100% Unsweetened Pomegranate Juice 20 g Pomegranate Molasses 5 ml Rose Water Heat sugar, juice, and molasses to a saucepan. Heat and stir to dissolve sugars. Cool and then stir in the rose water.

Tasting Notes The Botanist Gin is a dry style gin distilled on Islay at the Bruichladdich distillery using 9 base botanicals and 22 additional hand-foraged island botanicals. The profile is sweet and spicy with mint, savory herbs, and a touch of chamomile. The palate is citrus forward with delicate herbal and floral notes. This is SLOWLY distilled and the result is an elegant, balanced, and flavorful gin that doesn't stand in the way of a great martini or G&T.

Our guest this episode is Philip Moore, who in February 2022 became the first Australian inducted into the Gin Magazine's Hall of Fame. Now you might well ask, who is Philip Moore? He's certainly not one of our highest profile gin distillers. But he was actually the first Australian gin distiller to win a gold at the International Wine and Spirits Competition, and his distilling career stretches back to the very early days of contemporary Australian gin.Prior to that, Philip studied and trained as a horticulturist and medical herbalist. In the mid 1980s he started a specialist culinary herb nursery, Renaissance Herbs, which grew from a single greenhouse into the largest wholesale herb nursery in Australia, cultivating close to a million plants a year.Meanwhile, Philip had developed a passion for wine and subsequently, distilled spirits including gin.He exited the herbs business in 2005 and purchased a nursery site on the NSW Central Coast, where he subsequently founded Distillery Botanica and the Moore's Dry Gin brand. And together with Tom Baker, he co-founded the hugely successful Mr Black Coffee Liqueur, which we explored with Tom back in Season 8.This is a wide-ranging interview with Philip about his career and the evolution of Australian gin.He certainly doesn't hold back with his opinions on the use of Australian natives by distillers. He shares some tips on how to taste spirits more effectively, and you'll also hear about Philip's new venture, Terrigal Rum Company. That's all coming up in this interview with Distillery Botanica founder Philip Moore.Tags: gin, distilling, distillery, distiller, liquor, craft spirits, distilled spirits, cocktail, cocktails, drink, drinks, wine, winemaking, winemaker, viticulture, beer, craft beer, brewing, agave, tequila, mezcal, bartender, bartenders, sommelier, sommeliers, cicerone, whisky, whiskey, cognac, bourbon, vodka, vineyard, mixology, bars, pubs, restaurants, hospitality
World Martini Day is celebrated every year on the third Saturday in June. That's today, Saturday June 18, if you're listening to this episode in real time. And with us to talk martinis is Archie Rose master distiller Dave Withers, who you previously met in season 3 of Drinks Adventures. This particular episode was produced with the support of Archie Rose, or more specifically Archie Rose Bone Dry Gin.Bone Dry was the first gin produced by Archie Rose using the copper vacuum stills at its new Banksmeadow production site, opened in 2021.Coming up today, Dave will explain why it's the perfect gin for a martini, which he says is an important cocktail for the team at Archie Rose. You can buy Bone Dry Gin direct from the company at archierose.com.au, and retailers like Dan Murphy's, First Choice and good independent bottleshops, too.

Ach die göttliche Träne, wie diese uns schmeckt und was wir noch alles so reden, gibts in der neuen Ausgabe.

If you haven't yet watched Queens on ABC (Hulu), stop what you're doing right now and watch it! It is so good! Those of us that grew up in the TRL days will appreciate it more, but I think you will love it regardless. Queens is has Brandy, it has Eve, it has Naturi Naughton (3LW), and it has Nadine Velasquez as the Nasty Bitches!!!! They were a all female rap group in the 90s and it shows them now in their 40s after another rapper samples their big hit song "Nasty Girl". It's been my favorite new series this season and I can't wait to see where the show goes, its already had some twists. The best part of this show, besides the fact that Brandy is an amazing rapper, is that you can then go to iTunes or Spotify or wherever you listen to music and play the songs from the show! I need these four amazing women, and the talented Pepi Sonuga ('Lil Muffin) to go on tour together, hopefully the show hooks me up with backstage passes. Queens Cocktail (diffordsguide.com): Ingredients 1 1/2 oz Dry Gin 1/2 oz Noilly Prat Extra Dry 3/4 oz Martini Rosso Sweet Vermouth 1 oz Pineapple Juice (fresh pressed) Directions Shake all ingredients with ice. Fine strain into chilled coupe glass. Garnish with pineapple wedge on rim. Drinking Game: Drink when... The Nasty Bitches perform. A little bit of the real Eve comes out. If you can spot Eve's paw print tat. Reference to something real. Feel like your high school self, very nostalgic. Finish your drink when... There is a flashback.

Almost a tale of two tours this week, if you don't mind the ol' nod in the direction of Charlie D. After the opening salvo of infected teens, and DIY insurance we moved on to talking about the current state I find myself in, namely taking the week to do some pre-reheasal prep. Now you might be thinking that the phrase pre-rehearsal seems like an oxymoron, but in my world it means listening to MP3 files and trying to work out how the new songs go. So why a tale of two tours I hear you cry, well the diary this week covers some similar ground as the Band hit Cambridge for the first night of the TSE tour back in 1997. Synopsis: This podcast is a tiny bit longer than our normal full length episodes. We took a minute to feature our home nonprofit the Junior League of Pasadena.
