Mine does at least! But today's guest, founder of Emerging Wisdom Cacao Samantha Veitch, shares a much deeper story on the ways cacao can support us through each phase of our cycle. And instead of just speaking to dark chocolate, she brings forward embodied wisdom around the more ritual and ceremonial nature of the cacao plant itself. Her experience with cacao began in Guatemala, where cacao holds a lineage of indigenous story and practice. And what's so interesting is that at exactly the same time cacao came into her, so did her awareness of the power of cyclical living. She shares her meandering organic journey of weaving drinking cacao and cyclical living together, becoming more and more deeply infused in both practices over time, and then learning ways to incorporate cacao *into* cyclical living practice to enhance each phase of the menstrual cycle. It's a really fun and beautiful way to interact with our cycles.Resources:Today's shownotes: Grab links to Samantha's cacao blends + offeringsBook: 4 seasons in 4 weeks by Suzanne Mathis McQueenBook: The Fourth Trimester by Kimberly Ann JohnsonClosing tomorrow Feb 22nd: Natural Contraception the Herbal Way 2026Episode 156: The Universal Mother Principles with Christine EckIf you loved this episode, share it with a friend, or take a screenshot and share on social media and tag me @herbalwombwisdomAnd if you love this podcast, leave a rating & write a review!

Christine shares how Mayan astrology and the Sacred Calendar can help you understand who you are and how your energy is meant to move, rather than forcing yourself into systems that lead to burnout and self doubt. We explore gratitude as an embodied, devotional practice, not a bypass, and how daily ritual can support nervous system regulation during uncertain times. We also have an honest conversation about the abuse of power and sexual energy in spiritual and ceremonial spaces, and why discernment is essential when working with teachers, rituals, and plant medicines. Christine talks about ceremonial cacao as a heart opening ally when sourced and used with integrity.

Play Episode Listen Later Feb 3, 2026 2:16

A Faith-Centered Look at Natural Remedies, Discernment, and Common Sense If God designed plants to support and nourish the body, why do so many of us feel more comfortable trusting synthetic drugs than the things He created? In this episode, we gently explore that question and talk through simple, grounded ways to approach plant-based remedies without fear or overwhelm. This conversation is for Christian women who want clarity, peace, and faith-centered health wisdom — especially if you're tired of researching endlessly, second-guessing yourself, or feeling responsible for figuring everything out alone. My goal is to offer calm guidance rooted in faith, common sense, and respect for the body God created. Why Natural Remedies Can Feel So Overwhelming Many women don't avoid natural remedies because they don't care about their health. They avoid them because the information feels scattered, extreme, or contradictory. When something is unfamiliar, it can quickly feel unsafe — even when it comes from God's creation. Confusion often comes from trying to do too much at once, hearing strong opinions online, or feeling pressure to “get it right.” Plants as Part of God's Design Scripture reminds us that God is our healer, and creation reflects His wisdom. Plants have been used for nourishment, care, and support for generations. Natural remedies don't replace faith, nor do they require fear. Like anything else, they call for wisdom, discernment, and personal responsibility. A Closer Look at Commonly Used Plants In this episode, I share several plants that are often discussed in holistic health spaces and how many people use them in simple, everyday ways: Castor oil, often used externally for skin or joint support Frankincense and myrrh, historically valuable and still commonly used today Lemon balm (also called Melissa), frequently enjoyed as a calming tea Elderberry, widely known for immune support Cacao, a plant-based food many women notice supports mood and inflammation The goal isn't to do everything — it's to understand that small, thoughtful use can go a long way. How to Use Natural Remedies Wisely and Safely Natural doesn't mean careless. Wisdom still matters. Some helpful principles include: Choose reputable brands you trust Start with very small amounts Follow label instructions Be mindful of medical conditions or prescriptions If something feels unclear, it's okay to pause, pray, and seek guidance. Why Discernment Matters More Than Fear It's worth asking why we sometimes fear plants more than heavily processed foods or synthetic products. Discernment isn't about rejecting modern medicine or natural remedies. It's about understanding what we're using, why we're using it, and how it fits into a bigger picture of caring for our bodies with wisdom and humility. Episode Highlights 00:00 — Why natural remedies often feel confusing or unsafe 00:29 — When research fatigue and decision overload set in 01:19 — Castor oil and its long history of use 03:14 — Frankincense, myrrh, and their historical significance 04:13 — Lemon balm and calming plant-based teas 05:12 — Elderberry and immune-related research 06:08 — Cacao, inflammation, and mood support 07:34 — Addressing safety concerns with common sense 09:58 — Simple guidelines for using natural remedies wisely 12:26 — A personal story about learning boundaries the hard way 13:21 — Why many women stay stuck longer than they need to What I Hope You Take Away Natural remedies don't have to feel intimidating Starting small builds confidence and safety More isn't always better Discernment leads to peace, not pressure Faith-centered health decisions involve wisdom and responsibility If You're Feeling Stuck or Unsure Most women don't stay stuck because they don't care about their health. We often stay stuck because we keep carrying the same questions, uncertainty, and mental weight month after month. We're re-releasing some of our back catalog so that these gems can be re-discovered!This week: Consciousness Expansion & Heart Opening with Cacao Plant MedicineWhat if one of the most powerful tools for spiritual awakening and consciousness expansion has been hiding in plain sight—inside something you've already consumed most of your life? In this episode of The Skeptic Metaphysicians, Will and Karen sit down with cacao ceremonialist and spiritual teacher Judy Machado to explore the ancient, heart-opening intelligence of ceremonial cacao—a plant medicine used for thousands of years to support spiritual growth, emotional healing, and expanded awareness. Unlike psychedelics often associated with modern plant medicine conversations, cacao offers a gentle, grounded pathway into higher consciousness. Judy explains how cacao works with the heart rather than overriding the mind—helping release emotional blockages, soften limiting beliefs, and reconnect us with our soul purpose through presence, intention, and ritual. Together, they explore:How cacao functions as a non-psychedelic plant medicine for awakening and emotional clarityThe difference between ceremonial cacao and commercial chocolate (and why intention matters)Why cacao is often called a “heart opener” rather than a hallucinogenHow ritual and reverence activate cacao's energy healing propertiesThe role cacao can play in intuition development, creativity, and manifestationWhy cacao ceremonies are re-emerging in modern spirituality—and what to look for ethicallyHow working with plant intelligence mirrors larger truths about consciousness, unity, and spiritual remembranceThis conversation also touches on broader themes of modern spirituality, free will, and the idea that spiritual teachers—whether human or plant-based—don't give us answers… they help us remember what we already are. If you're curious about plant medicine but hesitant about altered states… If you're navigating your own spiritual awakening and looking for a grounded entry point… Or if you're seeking a heart-centered practice that supports awareness without leaving your body… This episode may quietly change how you think about chocolate forever.

In this episode of The Food Professor Podcast, Michael LeBlanc and Dr. Sylvain Charlebois deliver a wide-ranging discussion on the forces reshaping food, retail, and consumer behaviour—before sitting down with one of Canada's most dynamic food entrepreneurs, Suzie Yorke, CEO and Founder of The Little Cacao Company. The episode opens with insights from New York City, where Michael reports from NRF Big Show, highlighting how retail continues to blend hospitality, entertainment, and commerce. From Tecovas' in-store bar concept to Printemps' alcohol-free champagne experience, the hosts explore how experiential retail is redefining consumer engagement. The conversation then shifts to quick-service restaurants, where McDonald's decision to freeze value meal pricing underscores growing pressure on restaurant traffic amid economic uncertainty. Sylvain explains why this price war reflects defensive strategy rather than growth, while noting the strain rising costs place on supply chains—from coffee to beef.Broader macro themes follow, including climate data, forest fires, and their often-misunderstood impact on agriculture and food policy. The hosts debate alarmist climate narratives, the reliability of long-term data, and the risks of poorly designed policies that can penalize farmers and processors. The episode also touches on Aldi's aggressive U.S. expansion, Amazon's underestimated grocery scale, and Canada's evolving trade posture with China—particularly as agriculture remains entangled in geopolitics and tariff negotiations. The heart of the episode is a candid, high-energy interview with Suzie Yorke, a veteran brand builder turned founder on a mission to fundamentally rethink chocolate. Yorke traces her journey from engineering to senior marketing roles at major CPG firms, to launching breakout brands like Love Good Fats, and ultimately founding The Little Cacao Company. She explains why cacao is one of the world's most powerful antioxidant superfoods—and how decades of sugar, poor fats, and aggressive processing stripped it of its nutritional potential.Yorke also shares hard-earned lessons from scaling food startups through the volatile pre- and post-COVID investment cycles, including the importance of founder-led execution, disciplined economics, and authentic consumer connection. She discusses how protein, fibre, and low-sugar formulations position her chocolate for a world shaped by GLP-1 drugs, health-driven indulgence, and changing cravings. Equally compelling is her perspective on leadership, resilience, and representation—using her platform to champion inclusivity while proving that innovation doesn't have an expiration date.  About UsDr. Sylvain Charlebois is a Visiting Professor in Food Policy and Distribution at McGill University and a Professor in Food Distribution and Policy in the Faculty of Management at Dalhousie University in Halifax. This artery cleansing drink is like exercise in a cup! Unclog arteries and support cardiovascular health with one cup of this amazing drink daily. Reverse arterial plaque and prevent a heart attack naturally!0:00 Introduction: How to unclog arteries naturally0:33 What causes clogged arteries?2:21 How to increase nitric oxide3:00 How to reverse clogged arteries8:35 The best drink to unclog arteries10:33 More cacao benefits If you have damage to your arteries, you're at an increased risk for high blood pressure and clots, which can cause strokes and heart attacks. When you visit the doctor for these conditions, they typically address the symptoms rather than examining the root cause. The root cause of plaque in the arteries is endothelial damage. Endothelial damage and inflammation are repaired by plaque, composed of calcium, cholesterol, and protein.Arterial damage decreases nitric oxide levels, resulting in less control over blood pressure and an increased risk of clotting. Around 90% of heart attacks come from clots!Sunlight is vital to increase nitric oxide. Nasal breathing and magnesium are also essential. You can reverse arterial plaque buildup through a process called reverse cholesterol transport. This mechanism transports plaque in the arteries back to the liver for recycling. This process can be sped up with the help of the following:•Niacin •HDL cholesterol•Exercise •Fasting •Low-carb diets •Bile salts Magnesium controls calcium, so increasing your intake can help to remove it from the arteries. Polyphenols protect the endothelial layer of the arteries, and vitamin K2 helps prevent arterial calcification. Cacao powder is the main component of the best drink for your arteries. It's high in flavonols and stimulates enzymes in the body to produce more nitric oxide. Roasted cacao has been shown to increase blood flow to the arteries, similar to the effects of exercise.Cacao is also beneficial for your heart, brain, skin, and other organs and tissues in the body. It has an accumulative effect and can build up in your system over time. To prepare your drink, combine cacao powder in a glass of water. You can drink it cold or warm. Add beetroot juice powder for an additional boost of nitric oxide and an interesting flavor. You can also add a pinch of sea salt and a scoop of magnesium glycinate for the most potent effect!
