Sox take 2 of 3 from A's. In this episode Brad, Grant B, and Ryan B discuss the upcoming All-Star game, snubs, the Homerun Derby, Mookie Betts as a… reserve. We also discuss Chapman's consistency and the Yankees dominance. Brad has had enough of Danny Santana and Matt Andriese aka Matty Santana and Grant discusses Whip and Nae Nae of Sox relievers. Ryan B's mancruch of Nick Pivetta has NOT slowed down one bit.
The Red Sox lose the series on a walk off wild pitch. Offense was absolute trash, baserunning trash. Danny Santana and Matt Andriese can be shot to the Moon...possibly Pluto. Our thoughts on Jarren Duran (the watch has to be on). Should the Sox call up Franchy? Bases loaded, full count, who do you want up? Not the guy that is going to kill Xander Bogaerts and much much more.
WE MADE IT TO 400 EPISODES! Today we talk every aspect of that wild series finale with the Astros, how the packed Fenway crowd really made a difference in that game, why Brock Holt isn't the guest on this episode, Alex Cora calling out a slick move by Dusty Baker, and mixed feelings on that infield fly call. We then set up an interview with Twins slugger Josh Donaldson during the show to break down his clutch 9th-inning homer off of Aroldis Chapman, his comments on Gerrit Cole's mysteriously diminishing spin rate, how close he was to playing for the Red Sox and much more. In the second half of the show we try to figure out what's wrong with E-Rod, demote Matt Andriese even further down in the nickname rankings, give a much-needed shoutout to Christian Arroyo, continue our discussion on how dumb the red seat is, come up with an amazing name centered around that red seat, express our gratitude with Don Orsillo calling a Sox game on July 3rd, tease a huge guest that we have next week, and take a trip down memory lane breaking down our favorite guests in the history of this podcast. We want to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years. No way we get to 400 episodes without you all! So much more fun stuff coming up soon for this show. Stay tuned

The Red Sox stand alone in first place by one game. Since April 10, The Red Sox have remained in first place while the Rays, Blue Jays, and Yankees change places in the standings. Thankfully enough, JD Martinez was able to hit a go-ahead, two-run homer in the ninth inning Thursday night to give the Red Sox the lead over the Blue Jays and Matt Barnes to save it in a 8-7 win. The Red Sox took 2 out of three games against the Blue jays but there are still some concerns in their active roster. The Red Sox are batting a .266, second in MLB behind the Houston Astros. They are third in Home Runs and RBIs. They are first in total bases. It seems as though the strike outs are reasonable since they rank 16th in the league. But, the red sox do strike out alot. 17 games resulted in double digit strikeouts. But the most important play in baseball is what you do when their are runners in scoring positions. The Red Sox are batting a .248 with runners in scoring positions. That is when the team has runners combined or either in 2B or 3B, the Red Sox seem to fail in bringing in runs to support their starting pitchers. Only Xander Bogaerts and JD Martinez are hitting over .300. But Franchy Cordero is still struggling, batting a .170. There is so much expectation for Cordero that he might find himself in a rehab assignment. Danny Santana may receive the call to be activated and play in the Phillies series. Santana is another utility player that can play any position. He is also a switch hitter. But where does Alex Cora and the administration deal with players that are struggling at bat. Four players, including Cordero, are batting below .250. Despite being in first place, the organization must look at a possibility to make some trades by July if they want to stay contenders for the playoffs. On the mound, the Red Sox are 13th in ERA with a 3.90. They are sixth in strikeouts, and have given up the fewest bombers in the league. But when you look closely, the starting pitchers look fabulous and perform well. Once Chris Sale returns to the ball club, it would be a hard decision for Alex Cora to decide how he will place Sale in the rotation. In the bullpen, the pitchers are being utilized a lot. Pitchers Austin Brice, Matt Andriese, and Josh Taylor have made it difficult to shut down their opponents. In the last seven games, Andriese has a 9.00 ERA. Andriese and Taylor have allowed opposing batters collectively bat over .300. The AL East is now the most competitive division by having four teams above .500. The race is tight as you have the Rays behind 1 game, Yankees 1.5, and the Blue Jays 2.5 games behind the Red Sox. The Orioles have slipped away as their only glory came in the opening series, sweeping the Red Sox. Since then, the Orioles have struggled winning only 2 of their last 10 games. The Red Sox are going on 41 days in first place. There is plenty of room for improvement. The schedule is about to get tougher as they will finish their road trip this weekend against the Philadelphia Phillies. Then they will have the Braves, Marlins, and then start the month of June against Houston Astros and the New York Yankees. The Red Sox will try to extend their two game winning streak against Bryce Harper, Rhys Hoskins and the Phillies in Philadelphia. The Red Sox have the best away record with 14-6 while the Phillies are 14-8 at home. The Phillies have lost 6 of their last 10 games.
The Red Sox lost the last game of that Angels series, but we have multiple reasons why that shouldn't actually count as a loss. Today we talk the end of Sunday's game being bogus, break down the vibe of Fenway right now as it slowly comes back to normal, the wild way we will prevent Michael Chavis from swinging at high fastballs, the date for our live show at Kowloon, Mike Trout being insanely overrated, if you would rather have Trout or Ohtani on this Sox team right now, how badly they need a camera that shows you if a ball is fair or foul down the right field line at Fenway, time zones being bananas, Yankees Suck chants needing some tweaking, who in this rotation we trust the least right now, Matt Andriese being in danger of losing his nickname, a Jacoby Ellsbury debate and of course the schedule lookahead for this Blue Jays series this week. That and much more. Enjoy!
For the first time since the season opener in Fenway Park, the Red Sox lost the series three games to one against the Texas rangers. In game one in the 6th inning, Rangers catcher Jose Trevino hit a two-run homer off of Pitcher Sawamura in which the team went up 3-1. Rangers would win 4-1. The only run Red Sox scored came in the top 6th inning when Devers doubled that allowed Verdugo to score. The Red Sox as a team batted .100. They only hit 3 times and went 1-for-5 in runners in scoring position. In game 2, JD Martinez homered twice against starting pitcher Kohei Arihara. The Red Sox breezed through the game winning 6-1. In game 3, The Red Sox were in the lead at the end of 5 innings 5-4. However, Matt Andriese could not hold the Rangers and gave up 3 earned runs. Willie Calhoun homered off Andriese and went 3 for 4. Rangers won 8-6. The Red Sox offense came alive, batting a .316. However, they could not capitalize when they had runners in scoring position. They went 4 for 13. Cordero, Verdugo, Devers, and Dalbec could not become clutch at the given moment. And in game 4, The red sox had a 3-1 lead in the 7th but Garrett Whitlock gave up a home run in the bottom of the 7th by SS Isiah Kiner-Falefa.It is the first time in this season that Whitlock gave up a run. He completed the inning with the lead intact. However, Adam Ottavino came in relief and only pitched ⅔ inning and gave up three runs allowing the Rangers to comeback and win.

The guys discussed what prospects (and graduates) are most likely to impact the MLB club this year on the mound and in the lineup. We also just updated the #SP60 coming out of MLB camp, and the guys discussed Bryan Mata's short drop, Garrett Whitlocks big rise, and more. Plus the Matt Barnes COVID scare and what it said about the team's depth this year, and as always, your terrific emails led to some great discussion about the draft, Gilberto Jimenez and... Welcome to 2021. The Commissioner is telling teams to prepare to start the season on time. Free agency and the hot stove are both heating up as well. And our episode is setting the table for bigger things to come. Still, we have some interesting moves to analyze, both made by the Red Sox and by other clubs. Another set of international free agents have begun to sign, and Chris and Ian have the run down on them and the first round of non-roster invitees. Additionally, rumors have been flying about a possible trade involving a young outfielder, and the guys share their thoughts before we crack open the mailbag for your questions. 0:00 - Intros, housekeeping, email us and remember to check us out on Patreon 4:00 - Moves that didn’t happen 18:00 - Moves that did happen 32:00 - Minor transactions 35:45 - International free agency 41:00 - Benintendi trade rumors 47:15 - Mailbag Players Mentioned Alex Verdugo Jeter Downs Hunter Renfroe Martin Perez Matt Andriese Daniel Gossett Eduardo Rodriguez Garrett Whitlock Nick Pivetta Deivy Grullon Connor Wong Johnny Pereda Roldani Baldwin Austin Rei Rusney Castillo Rafael Devers Christian Vazquez Xander Bogaerts Miguel Bleis Juan Chacon Andrew Benintendi Josh Ockimey Seth Blair Stephen Gonsalves Raynel Espinal Cesar Puello Caleb Simpson Kevin McCarthy Jarren Duran Eduard Bazardo Durbin Feltman Bobby Dalbec More International Signings here We also want to thank our in-residence musical guest, The Ludlow Thieves. Wir beginnen mit der Hall Of Fame. 6 neue Mitglieder Chipper Jones, Vladimir Guerrero, Jim Thome, Trevor Hoffman, Jake Morris & Alan Trammell.
