AISIX ($AISX / $AISXF) is positioning itself as a game-changer in the climate risk space with its advanced wildfire data models. The company's early traction in Canada, combined with a clear path toward U.S. expansion, highlights its significant commercial potential in a market worth billions that unfortunately is only projected to grow in the coming years. CEO Mihalis Belantis discussed the company's flexible business model, designed to meet the growing needs of insurance companies seeking to de-risk extreme climate events. AISIX's breakthrough wildfire data model—currently evolving from Wildfire 2.0 to Wildfire 3.0—has already attracted significant interest from insurers. In addition, regulatory shifts are accelerating the demand for climate risk reporting, and AISIX is well-positioned to provide timely, essential tools for risk mitigation. “We are not just providing data; we are creating a framework to understand and manage extreme climate risks, especially as wildfires become a more frequent and severe challenge.”— Mihalis Belantis, CEO AISIX's target markets are substantial, with an initial focus on Canada and plans to now expand into wildfire-prone U.S. regions like California. The company's core product offerings are already proving their worth: Flexible Licensing: The average ticket size for licensing agreements is in the $100,000 range for Wildfire data.Canadian Market Worth Billions: The company estimates its addressable market in Canada alone is valued in the billions, with global opportunities extending even further. AISIX's success doesn't just rest on its product; its business model thrives on strategic partnerships and strong relationships with key stakeholders. Mihalis emphasized the importance of these connections, which are already driving significant interest. Industry leaders like David Poole, often referred to as the godfather of AI in Canada, Dr. Gio Roberti, and PR powerhouse Ben Mulroney are helping to amplify the company's growing momentum. AISIX has also garnered 17 earned media mentions in the early days of 2025, further bolstering its reputation and visibility. AISIX's innovative AI-driven platform, Climate Genius, is designed to help businesses understand and mitigate climate risks, including wildfire-related events. With the growing pressure on companies to address climate-related challenges, that have now only amplified with the tragic Los Angeles wildfires, AISIX is providing vital solutions that are not only meeting regulatory needs but also helping organizations better manage risk in an increasingly unpredictable world. With a market primed for expansion, AISIX's blend of cutting-edge technology, flexible business model, and strategic partnerships positions it as a company to watch. As demand for climate risk solutions grows, AISIX is well-positioned to play a pivotal role in reshaping how industries, insurers and governments manage extreme climate events. In this episode of The Light Watkins Show, Light sits down with Mihalis Eleftheriou, the creator of the revolutionary language-learning platform Language Transfer. Mihalis shares his inspiring journey, from growing up in a multicultural neighborhood in East London to creating a powerful method for learning languages that's changing the way people approach not just language, but communication and connection itself. When Mihalis first began learning Spanish, he noticed that traditional language programs were missing something fundamental: a real-world understanding of how the mind processes language. In a moment of frustration, he began to experiment with a different approach that focuses on translating thoughts instead of just words, allowing students to truly think in the new language rather than relying on memorization. The result? Language Transfer—a program that offers free courses in Spanish, French, Swahili, Greek, Arabic, and even music theory, all designed to make learning simple, enjoyable, and surprisingly fast.Throughout the conversation, Mihalis dives into his unusual journey, including his early experiences with activism and the cultural struggles that shaped his desire to create Language Transfer. He also opens up about the personal challenges he faced growing up, and how these inspired his unique perspective on learning, teaching, and living authentically.Whether you're interested in language learning, exploring new ways to connect with others, or simply curious about how an idea can become a movement, Mihalis' story offers inspiration, wisdom, and practical insights into following your unique path. Join Light for this fascinating, eye-opening discussion on how language can be a bridge to a more connected world.Send us a text message. We'd love to hear from you!

In this episode, I had the absolute pleasure of talking with Mihalis Tsoukalos, a long-time Twitter friend and someone who's given me loads of advice, about software development. He shared with me so much about his journey with C-based languages, particularly Python, C, Go, & Rust. He talked about Linux shells including Bash and Zsh (and of course the excellent Oh My Zsh project). On the flip side, he shared why he's no fan of Java and Microsoft Windows, preferring almost all things Linux and Unix. Then, he finished up by talking about file formats such as Latex, Markdown, and AsciiDoc (my favourite format), the importance of software documentation, and what he believes it takes to become a professional developer. You don't want to miss this closing aspect of the episode! Some key takeaways are: Start by writing small command-line utilities, re-implementing the ones that you know. Then, gradually take on bigger, more complex ones. Keep writing code and keep improving each time. Read a lot of code, experiment even more, talk to other developers, and fail better each time. Even if you only learn a little something, it's something more than you knew before. Software documentation is very important. To learn Rust, you really have to do it full-time. He's a big fan of Go because of the speed, size of the standard library, and because it's a simple and fast language. Έπειτα, σχολιάζουμε τη σύγκρουση του Stewart με το LeBron, την απόλυση του coach Walton και συμφωνούμε ότι ναι, ο Αndrew Wiggins είναι all star.
