Charging up the show this week... Legendary Intersectional Feminist Media Outlet Founder Demi Lynch joins Anna in the studio. Demi is the Founder, Podcaster, Writer, Editor, Producer, Content Creator (and more) of The Nasty Woman Club - a podcasting and media service offering up-to-date news on current affairs from Australia and around the world through a feminist lens. Yes Demi single handedly created an inclusive, intersectionally-feminist and positive platform for people to use whilst also serving them accurate, well-researched and current news. She has battled and documented her own struggles with burnout, depression, body confidence in order to affirm those who follow her with the same struggles and girl has she smashed it! We would love her to comment on most things in the public eye today, including our own personal lives - we trust her opinion that much - but today we are asking her about social media and its effects on her and her peers as Gen Z'ers and how we generally think about body image, body positivity and how we teach this appropriately to our children. We assumed Demi was going to talk about Gen Z as having an epidemic of body confidence, and body shaming issues, but actually, news flash: it's millennial women who have that body-related shame ingrained into us. And Demi is here to tell us that we are seemingly the last generation of women in the Developed World who experienced that. So take a listen and see if you agree, let us know how these generational differences affect your own life and start following her platform because it really is redefining the way we consume news. Anyone else feeling a sense of fatigue by the news cycle? Anyone else sick of hearing the names "Christian Porter" and "Scott Morrison" in the media? It's gotten to a point where even as a journo I don't want to read the news anymore - I'm just so TIRED and OVERWHELMED. So I thought on today's episode of RANT MONDAY I would rant about my experience of news fatigue and how I distract myself when it all gets a bit too much. During the episode I recommend season 6 of RuPaul's Drag Race and season 1 of UK's Drag Race. Both of these shows are available now on Stan.I also recommend TikTok - if you're not on TikTok, what are you doing?!?!Make sure you tune in to The Nasty Woman Club DAILY FEEL GOOD STORIES on our Instagram stories. The Nasty Woman Podcast is hosted and produced by TNWC founder Demi Lynch. Today's episode of RANT MONDAY is dedicated to the world of MOVIES! And of course I had to have my amazing partner/boyfriend/roommate/lover/partner in crime Daniel because him and I are OBSESSED with movies. Our relationship is pretty much based on our love for movies, and how judgemental we both are of the film industry.During this chat we wonder:What overrated movies were made purely for the Academy Awards?Who are some of our weird celebrity crushes? Why is Marvel so great yet also terrible with their villains? And most importantly, which movie franchise is better - Lord of the Rings or Harry Potter? The Nasty Woman Podcast is hosted and produced by TNWC founder Demi Lynch. You can find us on Instagram @thenastywomanclub . To celebrate WOMEN'S HISTORY MONTH, this week on The Nasty Woman Club podcast I'll be showcasing my favourite interview episodes. So stay tuned for more episodes this week from Monday to Friday.* * * *Hanelle Harris is the director, writer and producer of 'SIS' - an upcoming sketch show on Comedy Central. The show is dedicated to brown voices finally having their voices heard. Because often in the film industry movies and television shows that feature Māori people often stereotype them and tell their stories through a white person's perspective. This week on The Nasty Woman Club podcast host Demi Lynch spoke with Hanelle about how the media can influence our bias towards people of different cultures, backgrounds and races. She said having white perspectives speak on the behalf of Māori people dehumanises them and can encourage discrimination, in particular racial profiling. The filmmaker also discussed how colonised countries need to repair their relationships with their Indigenous people as many are still experiencing the after effects of colonisation. For more information on 'SIS' head to the Instagram page @sistheshow .The comedy sketch show is available now on Comedy CentralThe Nasty Woman Podcast is hosted and produced by TNWC founder Demi Lynch. She also recently got married - in fact her and her partner were one of the first couples to get married in New South Wales after same-sex marriage was legalised. Another fun fact about Kate is that she loves to plan - she's not ashamed to admit she has a Type A Personality. But she didn't plan on getting cervical cancer earlier this year.Kate asks that the one thing women should take from this interview is to make sure they are up to date with their pap smears. She says women shouldn't fear the smear. For more information on Kate Elizabeth make sure you visit her Instagram page @the_blissful_thistle .(Since this chat in 2019 Kate has beaten cancer and now has a gorgeous daughter name Zoe.
