Hashtag and popular Internet meme
POPULARITY
EPISODE 136 | Incel-ation Some say there's a crisis of masculinity, or maybe it's just that there's still a lot of misogyny in our culture. Whatever the causes, one thing is clear – there are some young men out there who have difficulty interacting with women while also buying into the narrative that sex and female attention is somehow their right. And every once in a while, one of these guys goes postal, and violence is the result. This is the sad and sometimes scary world of incels. Like what we do? The Pelicot rape trial at the end of 2024 put the issue of sexual violence at the centre of public debate in France. Seen as a real turning point, the case has also raised questions about men's responsibility in rape culture. From the #Notallmen slogan circulating on social media, to discussion groups where some men have been examining their own behaviour, the case has prompted many men to take a long, hard look in the mirror. FRANCE 24's Sonia Baritello, Olivia Salazar-Winspear, Jade Lévin and Jonathan Walsh met some of them.

In this episode, “Not All Men...Yet,” we dive deep into a powerful movement to reclaim the phrase Not All Men with a renewed purpose of accountability, healing, and change. We explore She Is Not Your Rehab's Not All Men campaign, which challenges men to take ownership of their role in ending cycles of harm and creating a safer world for everyone. Highlighting comedian Daniel Sloss's personal account, we discuss why “just being good on the inside” isn't enough and why silence, inaction, or looking the other way makes us complicit. This episode isn't about blame—it's an invitation for all men to step up, speak out, and get involved in being part of the solution. Join us as we discuss how this connects to TeamsOfMen and the role of coaches, mentors, and athletes in setting a new standard for healthy, accountable manhood. Let's move from Not All Men to All Men in the work of creating safe and respectful communities.
Not All Men, pero men.

It's tempting to want to play the role of “superhero” in a relationship - the guardian, the savior, the teacher, or the protector. But over-prioritizing their needs over your own often has a villainous effect on a healthy relationship. Because if all of your focus is on their safety, wellbeing and nurturing, you then neglect what's more important - your own. My partner, Kelly Gardner, a Relationship Coach and Men's Group Facilitator, and I have identified two (comically labeled) archetypes of the kinds of superheroes we often see in relationships: -Captain Save-A-Hoe: the man here to “save” and “heal” a broken partner. -Queen Change-A-Dick: the woman on a mission to help the lost boy grow into a great man. Today we'll explain why you need to stop prioritizing your partner's needs over your own, and how the foundation of a healthy relationship is really built on focusing on yourself, first. In this episode, Kelly and I are talking about: Why men often want to feel like a “savior” in a relationship Power dynamics in relationships Why women often put aside their own needs in a relationship How to balance giving and receiving in a relationship Expanding your sense of self in a relationship Waiting to be chosen by someone How prioritizing yourself first contributes to a better relationship Managing sexual energy inside and outside your relationship Including your partner in your life How to make your partner feel chosen Apply for Couples Coaching with Kelly & Emily CONNECT WITH KELLY GARDNER Website: https://www.kellygardner.com Instagram @iamkellygardner FB: https://www.facebook.com/connectwithkellygardner CONNECT WITH EMILY Book A Private Coaching Call With Emily To Work Together Get Your Free Guide “The Four Tools Missing From Your Relationship” here Join Emily's email list here Instagram: @emilygoughcoach Email: info@emilygoughcoaching.com REFERENCES Episode 377 | Hope After Heartbreak: Our Love Story With Kelly Gardner Episode 359 | Building A Community Of Better & More Present Fathers With Kelly Gardner Episode 364 | Not All Men, But Almost Always With Traver Boehm Of Man UNcivilized
NOT ALL MEN… quoique…
My Better Self, vous connaissez ? ---------
This conversation is hands-down one of my favourites to date on this podcast. We're speaking with Traver Boehm, an author of two books, 2 time TEDx Speaker, men's coach and founder of the UNcivilized Men's Movement, which is radically redefining the way men around the globe experience their masculinity by uniquely blending both primal elements of manhood with massive doses of consciousness. In 2016 after losing a pregnancy, his marriage, and his business partnership all within weeks of each other, he created a radical social experiment and spent the next 12 months as if it were his last year to live, aptly naming it “The Year to Live Project.” Now men all over the world have deemed themselves UNcivilized as they wake up to meditate, feel into their hearts, and train their bodies. Men who can fight, fuck, feed, and feel. And do all four well. In this episode, we're talking about: How men show up in relationships and the biggest reason why women end relationships (outside of abuse) and how men can cultivate a superpower to make the feminine feel safe in unexpected ways The powerful message Traver has for men everywhere and how he's looking to change the entire culture and spread his message, along with addressing where men need to take responsibility for their own emotional health Men's mental health, and the mountain of male trauma that often goes unaddressed as males have so much less social support than women and a suicide rate that is 3X higher Traver's take on one of the biggest reasons why he believes mass shootings end up happening and what to do about it. Kelly Gardner is on a mission to lead dads towards the next great evolution in fatherhood. He is the Founder of “New Dad Network” - group programs and events specifically for men to work through the challenges of being a “dad” and toward embodying holistic, masculine leadership - his definition of “fatherhood.” The goal is to give a safe space for men to share, relieve burdens of shame and become more present internally and outwardly in the lives of their children. Kelly is a longtime theatre, film and performing arts professional who has dedicated most of his life to discovering where the intersection of communication and personal development creates positive impacts in communities and the lives of individuals. In this episode, we're talking about: How Kelly used performing arts and storytelling as a personal development tool The difference between purpose and mission Men's groups and safe spaces Kelly's “500 Year Plan” Why we're all “adolescents” pretending to be adults The “Absent Father Epidemic” and staggering number of fatherless homes Why our education system is broken The role of parents, specifically fathers Masculine energy & energetic balance When asked how many people one has in their lives to reach out to when they need help, the vast majority of men answer with a single heartbreaking response: “no one." Today, we're tackling one of the more controversial and unspoken angles of the gender equality discussion: the struggle men face. More specifically, how the (rightful) innate nature of “male white privilege” has consequently shrouded the staggering statistical inequities men face in many areas, including poverty, mental health and death. This conversation may be triggering, but I encourage you to listen to its entirety before writing it off. The only way to achieve equality is to listen and learn from everyone, white, heterosexual men included. This episode features myself and two wonderful humans from two very different backgrounds, Chelsea Wallace and Greg Ryder. Both here to listen and speak about their honest feelings and experiences regarding gender equality and privilege. The conversation was incredible - well balanced, compassionate and full of enrichment (and tears) for all of us. It's one of my favourite episodes I've ever done, and the most uncomfortable. In this episode we're talking about: Why many metrics of gender equality are misleading The nuance behind the meaning of “privilege” How to better participate conversations about gender equality Why women often still feel triggered by men's words and actions How all genders can help each other move past old gender paradigms New sources of support for men This is part of my Room To Grow™ “After Dark” series which tackles particularly controversial and purposely uncomfortable topics in a well-rounded, roundtable forum. Skilfully navigating territory of misogyny and a clash between lad culture and woke lads, Esther Manito's recent show “#NotAllMen” burst at the seams with relatable material rooted in the clash between her Middle Eastern heritage and her Essex upbringing.Esther talks here about whether you can be too relatable; having children before comedy and musing on an agent's misguided warning that no-one wants a ”comedy mum”; and growing up in Essex at the time of the Gulf War, with anti-Arab rhetoric prevalent in her school15mins of extras available exclusively to the Insiders Club include more from Esther on her generalised anxiety disorder, and the worst gig of her life!Go to www.comedianscomedian.com/insiders for ad-free episodes, extra content from every show that has it, and much more - including the exclusive Insiders Q&As with Nish Kumar, Alfie Brown, James Acaster and Fern Brady, plus the incredible “self-help for comedians” special with Amanda Donnet.Catch up with Esther:www.esthermanito.co.ukTW: @esther_manitoIG: @esthermanitoEverything Stu's up to:Podcast community linksSocial media handles and comedy clipsAnd Stu's official YouTube channel…Are all at linktr.ee/stuartgoldsmithOr visit:www.comedianscomedian.comwww.stuartgoldsmith.comStu offers remote and in-person talks to business, distilling insights from over 400 comics on cultivating resilience and the ability to bounce back, to all levels from C-suite to team members.“There's perfect and there's perfect; and that was perfect.” David Cooper, Chief People Officer Circle Health Group Hosted on Acast. Live at the Apollo star Esther Manito started performing stand up comedy only as recently as 2016 - not to forget we should probably count two years out because of the pandemic. The ex teacher has since brought two critically claimed solo shows (Crusade, #NotAllMen) to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and become the first female comedian to perform at Dubai Opera House.Describing herself as an "Essex Arab Girl Comedian", Esther is in her own words a chameleon of accents having grown up between mixed and sometimes clashing cultures and social classes. Between an Arabic-speaking Lebanese father and a Geordie mother who switched to a southern English accent at home, Esther nevertheless wears the badge of her distinct Essex accent with pride. This is the first episode to feature a distinct British regional accent. The Essex accent has an endearing nature but carries the social connotations of being thick and unsophiscated, best embodied by the all-time guilty pleasure reality TV show The Only Way is Essex.---------------------------------Follow Esther on Instagram or TwitterFollow your host Kuan-wen on Instagram or TwitterEsther's hilarious podcast with comedian Lily Phillips: Ghastly Women---------------------------------Esther started performing stand up comedy as a young mother after she just gave birth to her second child. “What's hard about being a man?” This is a question I've been asking a lot of (those who identify as) men lately. And while so many of our modern conversations are rightfully focused on helping marginalized communities heal and be supported after generations of oppression, men are often under-supported in the realm of mental and emotional health, and the results impact the entire collective. This is why people like James Walsham “The Compassionate Man” and others have begun creating platforms to help men shake off generations of outdated and toxic paradigms around masculinity and societal expectations to have somewhere to do the work of self-discovery, expanding their worldviews, opening up emotionally, strengthening their relationships and growing as humans. In this episode, James and I are talking about: Why men often struggle to open up emotionally Why men often don't give compliments to other men How women can better understand and support men How to deal with sexual shame and guilt Exploring sexual fantasies, how sex parties work and the safety measures involved Why social media is a great tool for learning and joining conversations Where men can find men's groups, men's circles and men's communities CONNECT WITH EMILY Book a private coaching call with Emily to work together. A love language is how one expresses and receives love through actions or words. The term was popularly coined in the book “The 5 Love Languages” by Gary Chapman. But I want to take that list way deeper. Because to me, how we express love also includes some even smaller, but vastly underrated actions, inactions (I'll explain) and levels of vulnerability and openness that are necessary for building better relationships. So in this episode, I'm running down my list of “12 Underrated Love Languages That Go A Long Way” and why we need to pay attention to these small, yet massive things: Ask genuine questions with curiosity Active listening & slowing down speech “I was thinking of you.” Laughter and playfulness Loyalty Presence Open, honest communication Choose people who choose you back Protective instincts Warmth, sweetness and sense of ease Take your “armour” off Create openings I'll explain each in detail - these will completely revolutionize your relationships! “Being the guy who wanks on the Tube – that's not aspirational.” Just some of the words of wisdom from this week's Chops guest, comedian Esther Manito, who has some thought-provoking opinions around the role women play in generational sexism. Esther's currently at the Edinburgh Fringe with her show, #NotAllMen, but here she's chatting to our Mick about '90s lad mag culture, why applauding men for basic decency is bad, the rise and rise of King Baby (and the part women play in their creation), and how SHE KNOWS IT'S #NOTALLMEN, but how do women help make it #notanymen?Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast. Violence against women is an issue that isn't going away any time soon. In the aftermath of the #MeToo movement, and a string of widely reported murders of women by men, some men are asking what they can do to be better allies. Sophie Gallagher, deputy features editor at the i paper, has some ideas, which she puts forward in her book How Men Can Help: A Guide To Undoing Harm and Being A Better Ally.In this week's Chops, she chats to Jen about the mammoth task of getting men to understand the scale of the problem women face, what she hopes to achieve with the book, and why #NotAllMen can get in the bin.If you've been affected by any of the issues Sophie and Jen are talking about, you can find out more information about where to get support from Refuge, or Rape Crisis England and Wales.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/standardissuespodcast. Cam Fraser is a Men's Sex Coach who teaches men how to have better sex. I mean, he literally teaches a course called “Out Perform a Porn Star.” But not surprisingly, learning better sex has nothing to do with the typical male metrics of penis size and sexual duration. Instead, Cam's sex coaching comes down to increasing pleasure and deepening the physical and emotional relationship men have with their partner. Because believe it or not, men statistically want better sex, whether they talk about it with their buddies or not. By the way, this episode is as much for women as it is for men. We dive deep into communication, exploration and vulnerability before, during and after sex, which involves both partners equally. As you'll learn, those are truly the keys to better sex. Cam is here to teach us how. In this episode, we're talking about: The myths about male sexuality Why orgasm is often the end of sex The difference between sexual pleasure and gratification How porn and masturbation affect sex life The importance of foreplay and cuddling How to have more meaningful sex How you can still have sex with erectile dysfunction How men can improve and lengthen sexual performance Cam Fraser is a Certified Professional Sex Coach, Certified Sexologist, Registered Counselor, and Registered Tantric Yoga Teacher. His work integrates scientifically validated, medically accurate information about sexual health, with sacred sexuality teachings from the mystery traditions. I'm so excited for you to meet today's incredible guest. This episode has been awaiting release in the archives for far too long and it's an extra special treat! Mike Campbell is a Man Coach who helps nice guys become good men. In his own words, he “helps everyday men get their shit together so they can get what they want in their life and relationships.” In a world that's idealized the man's role as superhero, problem-solver and provider, it's rare and often challenging for men to have a place and network to grow internally. Mike helps men overcome insecurities, external expectations and ditch the macho narrative to live happier, more fulfilled and confident lives. This, in turn, helps men build better relationships, become better fathers and build “legendary” foundations. In this episode, Mike & I are talking about: Why men struggle with expectations Why men are often of an adolescent mindset The difference between a nice guy and a good man How nice guys can become good men How do men start to increase their self worth How to raise a good son How women can help men become better men CONNECT WITH MIKE Website: https://mikecampbell.com.au/ FB: Mike Campbell Man Coach IG: mikecampbellmc Everyday Legends Academy Better Partner Project Everyday Legends Podcast CONNECT WITH EMILY Book a private coaching call with Emily to work together. Every single relationship in our life can teach us something. Even the ones that end badly. By reframing each challenging experience as a lesson, rather than a setback, helps us grow and move on with much less resistance. “Thank them for the lesson and move forward.” If you find yourself still feeling resentment or anger about a person or situation - normal and healthy emotions - here we're diving into how to train our minds to look at these with gratitude and curiosity instead. Because curiosity and the desire to learn is one of the most necessary ingredients to building beautiful relationships. In this episode, we're talking about: How we can train ourselves to reframe our experiences into lessons How scarcity mindset keeps us clinging to past negative experiences Our greatest source of pain Why many people (mistakenly) think they're unworthy of love and relationship How reframing negative experiences can propel us forward rather than keep us stuck Why we shouldn't overlook past relationship experiences as part of who we are today Why we should be grateful for relationships even when they end badly How to get unstuck from clinging to a relationship or situation that isn't working I would love to know what you have learned from a past relationship. Today, we're talking about abortion. Because as women, men, all genders, all nationalities, all abilities, all income levels and beliefs, we don't talk about it enough. Or seemingly ever. Even as a Canadian, I was overwhelmed with emotion this week following the US Supreme Court's decision to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade ruling that made abortion a constitutional right. The news and ensuing wave of emotions rippled across borders and even continents. I immediately thought of the millions of American women and child bearers whose lives will be seriously threatened because of someone else's beliefs. I immediately thought of my friend Sara. Sara Silverstein is a Breathwork Facilitator, Aura Photographer & Female Sęxuality Specialist who had an abortion at 16. Like many others, she has carried the emotional weight of both the decision and the abortion itself, but wrapped much of it up in a veil of stigma and unease. Now, Sara and many others are starting to speak up publicly about abortion in hopes to inform, educate and instil compassion and understanding in everyone. Sara, together with James Oliver Welsham, “The Compassionate Man” and host of The Honest Bloke podcast are here for a special episode of Room To Grow™ “After Dark” which was recorded in front of a live audience and included Q&A. This incredibly candid and detailed conversation about abortion features both male and female perspectives and personal experiences of abortion, as well as view points from Canada, The United States and The United Kingdom. It's not a lecture. It's storytelling. A chance to speak, listen and open our minds. “I think this is going to be the beginning of another uprising.” - Sara Silverstein In this episode, we're talking about: Why this decision in the US affected so many people around the world Abortion statistics, including first-time abortions and the number of women/people who abort pregnancies The arguments against abortion as a “method of contraception” Why abortion rights have a greater impact on ethnic minorities, BIPOC, transexuals and other marginalized groups Why we need to start having more open conversations about abortion First hand abortion stories from both Sara and James Why men struggle with the topic of abortion The role men play in supporting women/childbearers when it comes to pregnancy and abortion What men can do to educate themselves on abortion and the physiology of pregnancy Why politician need to become more educated and aware of trauma How people of other nationalities can support American women who may lose their ability to safely access abortion The influence of capitalism on banning abortion Why this may be the start of an uprising around abortion rights An America and around the world I want this podcast to open the floodgates for you to feel like you have somewhere safe to discuss the topic of abortion. If you were unable to join this recording live, I encourage you to reach out with questions, stories and compassion. I have also provided helpful abortion resources below. Finally, please share this episode with someone you know who needs to hear it. We need to keep talking - and learning from others - about abortion and our fundamental human rights. Every single experience teaches us something. But what we choose to do with those lessons is what sets us apart. Integrating the wisdom we gain from every mistake, challenge, trauma and heartbreak is how people grow, heal and move forward. Otherwise, life can be a scary hamster wheel of repetitive behavior and continued pain and suffering. Integration is change. But in order to positively change, we need to allow ourselves the space and time to allow all our gained knowledge to turn into our new thoughts and actions. That's where so many people get stuck. So here, we're diving deep into the steps - and beautiful voids - of how to actually integrate life-changing wisdom. In this episode, we're talking about: What integration truly means and requires How to recognize when positive change has taken place within us Why you have far more wisdom than you even realize The biggest component of integration - which many of us avoid Why we shouldn't only focus on the future, but take time for the past - no matter how traumatic How to create more joy in your daily life The incredible power of the “fertile void” The importance of becoming an observer Elevating from victimhood to empowerment Why we often don't even notice when we've changed as people How our responses are an indicator of our growth You can learn all the things, but if you don't actually integrate them, we don't actually grow. I'd love to know if you've had success integrating gained wisdom into your life? How have you celebrated your new way of being? Traver Boehm is the author of Today I Rise, and Man UNcivilized. He’s a men’s coach and the founder of the UNcivilized Men’s Movement. Traver wants to redefine the way men experience their masculinity, by blending the primal elements of manhood with massive doses of consciousness. In this episode, Traver joins me to discuss the challenges men are facing today: from mass depression and suicidality, to mass shootings, to fatherlessness and the lack of men’s initiation culture. Please share this episode with men who you think might need it. In this episode we talk about: What’s going on with men and humanity as a whole. Mass shootings in the US and Canada. The lockdown’s impact on outwardly expressing violence. Addressing grief in men. Appropriate anger towards men vs. men needing compassion. Finding roots of behavior in adulthood linked to childhood. Free will vs. life choices. Privilege and the lack of understanding for those who struggle. Social media: a double edged sword. Shadows, wounding, and trauma. Turning inward: looking at pain and grief. Finding the root of a problem vs. attacking the branches. Suicide vs. homicide & mental illness vs. addiction. How do we deal with men feeling collectively lost? Redefining the role of men in society. Intentional men’s groups: support, accountability, and healing. Pros and cons of finding like minded connections. The magic of being seen. The masculine’s desire to be challenged. Confronting fears. The lack of humanity in society. The #MeToo movement and #NotAllMen. Men and women doing “the work.” What’s behind Traver’s mantra, “Let others be safer as I walk among them”? Living by a code. 3 things men can do today to turn inward and start healing wounds. The fulfillment of doing “the work.” The challenges of being a policeman today. Shout out to the protectors. We also touch on the truly sad story of Sarah Everard who not only swept a nation but who's story is causing waves globally.
Since the news of Sarah Everard's death in London, you may have seen women online sharing their own experiences with their safety or the lack thereof. You may have also seen the phrase “not all men” circulating the internet... but this response is quite damaging and takes away from the actual issue that exists in society. Today, we're going to chat about why it's problematic to use the response of “not all men” when women speak out about their experiences, and clarify exactly which men we're talking about when we talk about gender privilege.
Scotty got caught on a date! An M+H Fam member sent Miguel a secret pic, and after some sexy talk about dating, we take a turn into feminist territory and how the phrase #NotAllMen can take a seat. Holly makes an analogy between men and ticks.
